The Best Platform Wedge Sandals Find For Summer

by Cristina May 7, 2018
written by Cristina

You guys! I found The best platform wedge sandals for this summer and they were such a steal on eBay. I’ve been having so much fun exploring eBay using current fashion trends as my inspiration. Over 80% of the items currently on eBay are brand new, which I didn’t realize. I’m so used to eBay being my go-to for selling and buying Lululemon. I was actually given a coupon to use for eBay (I briefly met with the eBay team at the blogger conference) but unfortunately, the coupon code didn’t’ work for me for some reason (maybe a Canadian thing?) so I just got these for full price, which was a huge steal anyways so I wasn’t mad. I also got a few other summer items that I’ll show you in another post soon.

Platform Wedge Sandal

I’ve been eyeing up all the popular platform wedge sandals that are trending right now but my feet are super fussy. I need leather soles and straps because otherwise, my feet blister pretty bad. Leather just molds to your feet and is breathable, which is essential for a summer shoe. I also can’t do a tall pitch if I plan on wearing them for any length of time.  In order to do a wedge this tall, it pretty much has to be a platform. This is a 3 and 3/4″ heel, but because of the platform, it’s actually a bit less than a 2″ heel.   Another thing I’m picky about is the ankle strap. Because I have short calves, I need the strap to sit on the top of my foot and then around to the back (the way these are). A strap that goes around my ankle really chops my leg proportions and makes me look really short. All of the sandals I have (flats and wedge) have this exact same strap design. Most of the platform cork wedge sandals out in stores right now have the ankle strap design.

Salvatore Ferragamo Mollie Chain-Trim Wedge Sandal Salvatore Ferragamo Mollie Chain-Trim Wedge Sandal

These platform wedge sandals are incredibly comfortable and cushioned in the sole. I also love how soft the leather is on the straps. They are really tall so they are perfect for wearing with maxi dresses. I plan to wear mine with this Aritzia dress I got last summer in black and grey. Why did I pick Salvatore Ferragamo sandals? I think because the brand had a pretty good variety of wedge sandals during the time that these had gone on clearance so there is a good selection on eBay at great prices. The brand has a total 70’s vibe that I’m loving right now, and the quality is impeccable, and the designs are classic. Having looked at a ton of sandals, I prefer this 70’s glam vibe to the shipwrecked on the Maldives look.

My overall experience with this purchase was great. I ordered them from a newish seller  (this one here) that has some inventory in a variety of Salvatore Ferragamo wedge sandals. I know that she got them from one of the Nordstrom Rack Clear The Rack events because I saw all of the shoes she has in stock had been on clearance at Nordstrom Rack, Nordstrom, and Neiman Marcus Last Call and this is how a lot of eBay resellers get their brand new inventory. They are in mint condition without a single scuff on the bottoms, and they arrived with their box (slightly beat up) and included the dust bag. These sandals retail for $650, and I purchased them for $119, which is cheaper than any shoe I can find at the mall.

I can’t recommend shopping this way enough. It’s fun to research high-end luxury brands and their past collections that have gone on clearance, and fully research purchases for great prices. During this search, I also found Chloe Multicolor sandals that I fell in love with, but just couldn’t find a great deal on them in my size. I have an alert set on them though so as they do pop up in my size, I can consider them if the timing and price is right.

What do you guys think? Do you venture outside of the Lululemon category for eBay purchases?

By the way, many of you ask me about these jeans all the time. I got them at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale last year so they are not available online anymore but I did find one lone listing for them on eBay. They are called the AG The Legging Step Hem in ‘Beatnick’ if you want to hunt them down in another size. As y0u know, I love a splatter print so these are right up my alley. Here is the eBay link for them in size 29.

It’s Time To Shop For Pretty Flowy Tops For Summer!

by Cristina May 3, 2018
written by Cristina

I’ve been feeling some kind of way, my friends! The temp has gone up to a whopping 18* in Vancouver and all of a sudden I’m trying on summer dresses, sandals and swimwear like I’m going on a beach vacation. I’m not. BUT, it is time to shop for For Pretty Flowy Tops For Summer to make myself feel a bit better about enrolling my kids in summer school! The trade-off for them is that I spend the afternoons with them at whatever beach, pool or lake they want. The tradeoff for me is that while I’m at the community center pool (or lake or beach), I’m pretending I’m in Mexico by dressing as vacationy as possible, sipping on my water like it’s a margarita.  I’ve made a few fun eBay purchases for a summer style staples (I’ll share that next week), but today I wanted to try on pretty tops that I don’t really need, but I want.

Let’s Shop For Pretty Flowy Tops For Summer

Madewell Embroidered Story Top - Pretty Flowy Tops For Summer Madewell Embroidered Story Top

Embroidered Story Top

I fell in absolute love with this top. I picked it up because I love a pretty eyelet in a contrasting color but I thought the flutter sleeve on this would be too open and low, and that the top would be too cropped. Thankfully the flutter sleeve was actually very flattering and not cut too low at all so no bra was exposed. The length is perfect for a pair of medium rise shorts or jeans and I can raise my arms without showing midriff. My only knock on this top is that the blouse is a bit sheer with a dark bra. I’ve tried it on at home with a nude bra and I’m completely comfortable with how it looks. Ever so slightly sheer, but you don’t actually see anything like a sad belly button. The top is made of 100% cotton, which I prefer during the summer. I just find it much cooler and breathable and I’m more likely to wear it over something synthetic. This is a size L and I would call it a TTS. By the way, this top is completely sold out at Nordstrom online now even though it’s brand new, so I’ve linked it to another retailer that carries it, AND it’s on sale!

Eyelet Lattice Top

I liked this top as well. The eyelet lace, the bright vivid orange-red, the fact that it’s cotton and oversized. I found it a bit big though, especially with the sleeves being slightly voluminous. This top did make it to my consideration list but I think I’m going to stalk it for markdowns later in the season. I’ve added it to my Shoptagr account so I should get an alert if it goes on sale. This is a size L and I think I could have tried on an M but I wouldn’t want to sacrifice any length on it.

Embroidered Fable Top MADEWELL MADEWELL Embroidered Fable Top

Embroidered Fables Top

I liked this one a lot too and if I hadn’t fallen in love with the Embroidered Story Top I would have gotten this one. This one is slightly less girly and a bit more 70’s looking which I like, but I think the blue tones in the other top suited me better. The Embroidered Story Top was more my vibes today though.  Again, this is cotton which I love and it’s a very comfortable TTS (L). The Length is perfect and this seems like a super easy to wear, ‘put together’ top to wear with shorts and a cute wedge sandal.

BP. Embroidered Peplum Tank BP. Embroidered Peplum Tank

Embroidered Peplum Tank

This color is everywhere this season so I really wanted to try something on in this shade. I suspected the color would look terrible on me but I just wanted to see it. The color is ‘ok’ on me, not bad, but not super flattering. I just HATED the fit of this over the bust though. Something about the lines was so unflattering and widening and I’m already pretty self-conscious about my broad ribcage. Bleh! The peplum was cut too short too. TTS, L.

[show_lookbook_widget id=”391080″]

Tiered Ruffle Tassel Tie Tank CASLON

Tiered Ruffle Tassel Tie Tank

I didn’t mind this top. I think I would snatch it up on sale in the sub $20 range. I found the length a bit too long with the ruffle being slightly too wide which causes it to feel a bit maternity. I don’t think you could wear this with shorts that are shorter than 4″ because the proportions would be all wrong.  This was a generous TTS (L).

[show_lookbook_widget id=”391081″]

Tiffany Embroidered Cold Shoulder Top REBECCA MINKOFF

Tiffany Embroidered Cold Shoulder Top

I really loved the style of this top. I loved the Navy with the white contrast stitching detail and the mauve pink tassel. It’s a stiff cotton poplin so more structured compared to the cotton tops above, and higher quality. Because of the sleeve length, I thought this top was a bit of an in-between temperature top and limited to evenings or air conditioning. There were a few things that took this top out of consideration for me. I would have preferred a longer length, and also a thicker strap at the top to disguise a bra strap. The thin strap is set too close to the outer shoulder so it doesn’t sit where a bra strap does. With the higher price point of this top, I really needed the fit to be perfect and I just found it too short. I will add it to my markdown watch list though. TTS (L).

[show_lookbook_widget id=”391082″]

Deneuve Cold Shoulder Top REBECCA MINKOFF

Deneuve Cold Shoulder Top

This is another Rebecca Minkoff Top. I liked it a lot and considered getting it but ultimately put it back because of the price, and because I didn’t love how the crochet strap didn’t line up over my bra. I need to try it on with a subtler bra at another time but I see that online there are other colors in this style, and some that are on sale and I think I prefer those colors over this one. This is a comfortable relaxed TTS (L).

[show_lookbook_widget id=”391083″]

Cupcakes and Cashmere Nichols Off The Shoulder Lace Top

Nicholes Off The Shoulder Lace Top

This was a last minute choice to try-on. I love the look of these lace tops but I always find them too heavy, hot and stiff. This one though is really nice because the outer lace is a lighter lace, and the inside is lined with a cotton tank. Definitely more of a spring/summer weight. I like the way the sides of this top flare out a bit and have the pretty eyelash lace trim along the bottom hem and on the sleeves. I WISH this top wasn’t off the shoulder because I hate wearing a strapless bra, but everything else about this top was perfect for this style. This is TTS  (L) and fits just right, but it’s not relaxed fit like most of the other tops I tried on today. I purchased this one because I just love the look of it but I need to try it on again with another bra to be sure.

Oil Wash Cutout Tee

I’ve seen this tee raved about before and I never bother to try it on because it’s a bit pricey for a tee shirt. I also thought they looked pretty sheer on the hangar so I just assumed they would be too revealing. This tee is paper thin and incredibly soft. I was surprised that the pale pink was not sheerer than it was. I liked the pink a lot but it washed me out too much so I didn’t pick that one. The black striped one only came in a size up so I tried it on and actually really liked it. It’s a bit long and I think I prefer my TTS, but the drape on these is so flattering that you can go either way. There was also a really pretty oil washed grey that I liked the most but that one was completely sold through on sizes, so I ended up ordering online. The grey reminds me a lot of the grey overdyed Wunder Under crops that Lululemon keeps giving us sneak peeks on (see them here). TTS or size up in this – it’s an oversized fit either way. The cutout at the shoulders is so pretty!

SURF GYPSY CROCHET FRINGE BEACH COVER UP SURF GYPSY CROCHET FRINGE BEACH COVER UP

Crochet Fringe Beach Cover Up

Last year when I went to Las Vegas with my husband, I noticed most women wearing really beautiful coverups at the pool and ever since then I’ve been obsessed with finding one for myself. You don’t really see that much at the pools or beaches here but it’s such an elegant look. I found this one to try on today and loved the look of it. I even really liked it over my jeans as a tunic. This was my TTS and I think it was too big and billowy. If I was wanting to wear it as a tunic top over jeans or shorts I’d definitely size down, but if I was going to wear it as a coverup or beach dress I’d stick with this size. It’s really cute and I want it but I’m going to wait and see if I have occasions to wear it. This is very much a full-on summer top and not a transitional piece.

J.Crew Swimmers Cotton Tee J. CREW

Swimmers Cotton Tee

I’ve been obsessed with prints that show retro swimmers, retro divers, and retro synchronized swimmers. There is an athletic apparel brand that has an upcoming print that is very similar to this look and I can’t wait to get that one and share it here, which is why this tee caught my eye today. I feel bad sharing it because it’s currently sold out online at both J Crew and at Nordstrom, but I wanted to show how cute it is. This is TTS (L) and nicely opaque over a dark bra, slightly boxy, and roomy. If you can find it in store, grab it!

Marc Fisher ANNIE PERFORATED ESPADRILLE PLATFORM WEDGE

Annie Perforated Espadrille Platform Wedge

At the blogger conference last week (was it last week?) almost every attendee had either this Marc Fisher platform wedge on in some neutral color or another very similar style by the same brand. I saw this wedge reviewed three times since coming home. They are super cute, and made of leather, but they are such a high platform. Because I have short calves, I really dislike how ankle straps look on me, so these are a no-go for me. I managed to find an alternative wedge sandal on ebay (brand new) by a luxury brand (for less than these!!) so I can’t wait to pick them up next week from my PO box so that I can share them with you. Here is a sneak peek of them.  The shoes I chose are a much more flattering style for me, and the platform (although still pretty high) is much tamer.

Lululemon Fit Review: Wunder Under HR 7/8 Tight *Mesh, The Ease Jacket in Vintage Rose, Ahead By Miles SS, Wunder Under HR 7/8 Tight * Mesh, and More!

by May 2, 2018

This Lululemon Fit Review is brought to you by The Sweat Edits newest official contributor, Mrs. O! I’m so pleased to share that Mrs. O and I made it official, and she’s now a contributor, not a Guest Poster. You will notice that her posts show her as the author, and if you click on her name in that author section it should pull up all of her contributor posts. I will still categorize her posts under ‘guest posts’ for now so that you can easily find them on the menu bar, but I will come up with a better solution. I’m so happy Mrs. O agreed to be an official contributor because she’s been so valuable to this community with her trusted fit reviews and shopping advice. Mrs. O hauled ass to get this fit review out as soon as she saw all these items were uploaded last night so huge thank you to her for that! She’s been so active in this community whether its providing advice in the comments or spending a few hours creating fit reviews to share with us so it was just such a natural fit to have her join in as my first team member. Thank you Mrs. O!!!! My goal for this site is to always make it the best, most fun place to be to discuss Lululemon, fashion, beauty and whatever this community is wanting to explore in the personal style realm. We are snitching to each other the best advice and I hope you enjoy the process as much as I am enjoying it.

I had time to kill this morning so I stopped by the Century City Westfield Lululemon store.  When I walked in, I noticed all the new bright colors and the store received several items from Tuesday’s drop.  At the time, I didn’t realize some of the things I tried on were new releases.  I’m glad I stopped in today.  And I’m even more thankful I only had time to do try ons; otherwise, I would have spent a lot of money.  Some of the things I was eyeing turned out to be better than what I expected.  So, while online they didn’t look like something that would appeal to me, once I tried it on or saw it in person, I wanted to take them home with me.  Writing this post is a good “cool down” period for me.  I’m going to have to be very judicious with my choices.

WUNDER UNDER HR 7/8 TIGHT *MESH in White

I noticed these tights right away and I’m glad my store got them on the day of the product drop.  These remind me of the edgier Wunder Under Sheen (which I love).  I like the design of the mesh inserts in these tights better than the Wunder Under Tech Mesh.  These Wunder Under *Mesh are TTS and are Full-On Luxtreme.  The mesh inserts were not delicate and I didn’t fear pulling the tights up near (or on) the mesh.  Although they are 7/8 tights, they are longer than the Wunder Under 7/8 Luon Tight.  You can see from the pictures that it gathers around my ankles.  So, ladies that are shorter than me (5’6″) will probably not like the 28″ length.  It would definitely cut into the mesh detail if the tights were hemmed.  I did several bend tests (in and out of the dressing room), deep knee bends and asked the Eds if these tights were sheer.  They were not.  Yay!  White tights that are not sheer.  The only thing I could see was the slight line of my underwear (even though I was wearing Lululemon’s Namastay Put Hipster).  I was told that these tights were double paneled where they needed to be.  They definitely were much better than last year’s white tights in terms of sheerness.

The Wunder Under *Mesh reminds me of Alo Yoga’s Epic Leggings.  As much as I like Alo Yoga’s designs, I don’t wear it as much as Lululemon because the fabric isn’t technical enough for me and it feels hot.  I really like these tights a lot.  I liked them in white but white is not practical for me.  I will probably get them in black.

THE EASE JACKET in Vintage Rose

This jacket was the first thing I noticed when I walked into the store because the color was so pretty.  It’s much more vibrant than So Merlot and a truer rose/pink color.  This jacket is form fitting, slightly cropped and made from Nulu.  It has a feminine hourglass cut.  I stayed TTS in this jacket; although I think a size up would have worked as well.  Nulu is very forgiving.  For those of you in between sizes, I don’t think it matters if you size up or down.  I definitely want to get some things in Vintage Rose.  Probably the In Movement Crop and perhaps a tank, if it comes in a tank.  This is a jacket I will consider but like the other Nulu form fitting jackets, I don’t have much use for them.  The only exception is the Contour Jacket.

ahead by miles ss ahead by miles ss ahead by miles ss

AHEAD BY MILES SS in White

I was drawn to this top because of the lightweight mesh fabric.  The mesh didn’t seem fragile to me.  Until I was writing this post, I didn’t realize this top was reversible — v-neck with tie in the back or crew neck with tie in the front.  I only tried on this top tied in the back.  On the hanger, the shape looks awkward but I think it draped nicely once on.  It had nice structure to it as well as being relaxed (if that makes sense).  It is a loose TTS and some of you may want to size down for fit.  I prefer it in my TTS.  I’m almost tempted to get it in all three colors — petal, white and black.  I think I’d wear it often as a layering piece.  But I have to show some restraint so I’ll start with one; probably petal or white.  Well, maybe I’ll start with two and hope it gets marked down so I can get the black as well!

Rejuvenate Crop Rejuvenate Crop Rejuvenate Crop Rejuvenate Crop

REJUVENATE CROP in Blue Tied

I’m always looking for crop pants that are similar to the older version of the Dance Studio Crop that I can wear on the weekends while I’m out and about and don’t feel like wearing tights.  I loved the fact that the Rejuvenate Crops were made of Nulu because it’s so soft and comfortable.  These crop pants can be pulled down for a slimmer, tighter fit around the legs or bunched up under the knees for a looser fit.  The Rejuvenate Crop is TTS.  The band is flat and fitted (but not tight) without a drawstring (yay!).  The pockets stay closed and have a nice depth to them.  I really like Blue Tied but I think I’ll start with the black pair first.

Keep It Classic Keep It Classic Keep It Classic

KEEP IT CLASSIC CROP in Dark Olive

I think the Keep It Classic Crop is a new style of relaxed crop that hasn’t been released yet (at least in the US because I couldn’t find it online).  I was excited to try these on because they were lightweight, a good length and made from Swift fabric.  This will be great for weekend wear over the hot summer months.  I tried on my TTS and wasn’t sure about the fit.  At first, I didn’t think they were so great.  When I walked out of the dressing room, the Ed had a puzzled look on her face.  She commented that she thought they were too baggy and suggested I size down.  So, I tried on the size down.  The moment I did, I loved the Keep It Classic Crop.  These crops are a baggy, relaxed TTS.  (As many of you know, I’ve lost weight and I think I’m officially on the smaller side of my TTS (4).  Never would I have imagined I would or could wear a Lululemon size 2!)  I believe many of you will likely size down to get the same fit.  If you’re in between sizes, definitely size down.  In my TTS, the crops looked a bit sloppy around the waist and hips.  These crops have a drawstring but the drawstring is really flat and narrow.  So, even tied in a bow, it didn’t create much of a bulge if you were to wear a tight tank/shirt.  Again, I’ll probably start with a black pair first.  I believe it came in a grey toned color as well as the dark olive I’m wearing.

fast as light white Lululemon Fast As Light Tank

FAST AS LIGHT TANK SE Frilled in Light Coral and SPEED UP CROP in Evergreen

I was drawn to the Light Coral color of this tank so I decided to try it on.  It’s not a style that I particularly like on me.  When I see it on others, I think they wear it better than I do.  This is a cropped tank with an open back.  The tag says it’s a lightweight fabric but doesn’t identify it.  It’s very close to Swift fabric and the same fabric as the Sculpt Tank without the UPF.  The frills along the edges were nice and added a feminine detail to an otherwise plain cropped tank.  When I was inquiring about the tank, the Ed commented that people with longer torsos (me) may feel it is an odd length for a crop.  So, I decided to try it on in my TTS and size up.  In looking at my pictures, I think I prefer my size up (white) more than my TTS (light coral).  I like the length of the size up and the way it hangs in the front but it was a bit loose.  When I leaned over, it opened up.  My TTS fit better from the back but it seemed too short in the front.  It opened up a lot less when I leaned forward in my TTS.  What do you think?  Size up or TTS?  This isn’t a very practical tank for me.  While I loved the light coral color and the frilled detailing, this is a pass for me.  But for those of you who rock the Fast as Light Tank, I think you’ll really like this version.

I really liked the Speed Up Crop in Evergreen.  (See my detailed review on the Speed Up Crop below).  Evergreen is a green that is closer to a military or camo green.  It has less brown in it than dark olive.  Unfortunately, my phone camera didn’t capture the true green color.  The color on the Lululemon site is fairly accurate.

speed up crop red orange speed up crop red orange speed up crop red orange

SPEED UP CROP in Red Orange

The Speed Up Crop is a run tight with compression (and the revised version of the Speed Tight/Crop).  I was quickly drawn to this bright orangey red color (I thought Lululemon would come up with a better name).  I like orange and do not shy away from the color.  This orange was very vibrant and had a coral undertone.  It kind of reminded me of the flesh of a navel orange but with more orange in it than red/pink.  I think the Speed Up Crop is the only tight that comes in this color.  For those of you who haven’t tried the Speed Up Crop, many people find they run small because of the high compression.  I used to size up before I lost weight.  Now I am a comfortable TTS.  So, if you’re in between sizes or don’t like a lot of compression, I’d recommend sizing up.  This vibrant fun color comes in several bathing suits, the Speed Up Short, Pace Rival Skirt, Essential Tank, Sweat Times SS and several accessories.  This is definitely on my buy list when it goes on markdown.  I’m fairly sure it will make it to markdown in my size.

SPEED UP SHORT in Blue Glow and Light Horizon/Linear Flux Ice Grey Multi

I did a few fit reviews on new short styles a few weeks ago.  At the time, I couldn’t accurately state whether my TTS was a 6 or 4.  In the past, I’ve always sized up from my tight size.  Now, I think I can stay TTS in shorts without sizing up (or very close to it).  In order to test out my theory, I tried on the Speed Up Short in two new colors.  When the Speed Up Short first came out and I did a fit review on the culture clash print, I wore a size up.  But I’ve been noticing that they started to look baggy from behind.  I didn’t mind the looseness in the front.  I tried the Speed Up Short in Blue Glow in my TTS.  I think they fit well but I don’t think I’m quite my TTS in the Speed Up Short.  I also noticed that they felt shorter.  I’m wearing my size up in Light Horizon/Linear Flux Ice Grey Multi.  While from the front they looked fine; from the back they looked too baggy.  I really like the Blue Glow color and will probably get a pair.  What size do you think looks best on me?  I’d appreciate any feedback; I so value it!

Lululemon Cinch It Dress Lululemon Cinch It Dress Lululemon Cinch It Dress

CINCH IT DRESS in Heathered Medium Grey

I know this is an old item but many of you asked me to do a fit review.  Everytime I went in store, they didn’t have it.  That is until today.  Lululemon Century City had a return so I finally got to try it on; albeit, in a size too small.  (I took one for the team and squeezed myself into it).  So, for those of you that wear a size 2 and want this dress, Lululemon Century City has it.  (It was on markdown for $69).  This dress is made of pima cotton and was very soft and lightweight.  Since the fabric is very thin (and in this light color), it will not be very forgiving and will show bumps and lumps.  However, the fact that it cinches along the sides will help hide the “flaws”.  While a size down didn’t do much “hiding” for me, I suspect if it were my TTS or size up, the cinching would have really helped.  I like dresses like this because I think it’s flattering on many different body types.  In my size down, the dress was too short and I couldn’t cinch it up as much as I would have liked.  The dress had a lot of give in it.  If I were to buy it, I would probably size up because I like my dresses a bit looser, would give me more length and I’d be able to cinch it more.  For shorter ladies, I think the length will be great for you.  Even though I have short legs, I thought the dress was too short.  It will definitely be a short dress on long-legged ladies.  Based on this try on, I’d recommend staying TTS (if you like a more fitted look) or size up (for a slightly relaxed but not too baggy fit).

The Lululemon New Product upload is live!

Pretty colors this upload! I ordered the Everywhere bag as stated below, and one of you lovely readers confirmed it has a laptop pocket + a crossbody strap, so I will very likely keep it when it arrives. I’m loving Vintage Rose and am feeling tempted by the In Movement Crops in that color. The In Movement has become my favorite crops and pants for Olympic Lifting. The luon based pants seem to really scuff up bad from the bar grazing up my leg. I like that the In Movement has the breathability and lightness of nulu, but it’s not delicate like nulu, it’s more like luxtreme. Plus, they don’t slide down on me as much as the Fast & Free line does.

I just purchased this Everywhere Bag. I don’t actually need a new gym bag or carry on bag at the moment but I do have some travel coming up and if this bag has a laptop pocket (I suspect it doesn’t) it may be a good buy and I’d love a new pretty pink bag. I really love the color. Lululemon hasn’t come out with a gym bag in several years that I’ve liked and I find myself looking at all the great older bags on eBay all the time. I purchased this amazing Lululemon messenger bag last year on eBay and it just reminded me of how great the prints and designs used to be. That being said, this bag in pink attracted me enough that I’m splurging on it despite not actually having a need for it. I do use gym bags a lot now for oly lifting since I carry shoes, straps, water and wrist wraps.

lululemon bag - Festival Bag II Quicksand

The Lululemon Australia Upload is live!

Some exciting things got uploaded today on the Lululemon Australia Upload! I am in love with that Quicksand festival bag. The floral print is kind of wild with the clashing red and green. Here are last weeks Lululemon posts: Lululemon New Product Release, The Lululemon Upload.

The australia stores tend to get uploads before North America does.

Guest Post: Adidas Ultraboost vs.Nike Epic React, Adidas Deerupt Runner

by Cristina April 26, 2018
written by Cristina

Mrs. O has done an amazing, (so amazing!) review and comparison of the Adidas Ultraboost vs.Nike Epic React, and the Adidas Deerupt Runner. I was really curious about the Adidas Deerupt runner. They caught my eye a few weeks ago when I purchased my Adidas Ultraboosts but they were a bit out there for me and I assumed they would look odd on. I am pleasantly surprised at how they look and definitely want to keep them on my ‘markdown watch list’. Mrs. O has a few other sneaker reviews to check out! Adidas NMD Primeknit, Adidas By Stella McCartney Ultraboost X Parley Shoes

Nike Epic React

I finally got a chance to try on the Nike Epic React.  I also want to try on the Under Armour HOVR (but I suspect out of the three it will be number three).  I went to Finish Line so I could do a side by side comparison.  I purposely went to the store in my Brooks so I wouldn’t be influenced by wearing my UltraBoosts to the mall.  I took a picture of the shelf displaying the colorways offered in the Nike Epic React.  I was drawn to this color  —  Rust Pink/Hyper Crimson/Barely Rose/Rust Pink.  They also had a beautiful soft pink that was a cross between porcelain and pearl pink — Pearl Pink/Barely Rose/Arctic Pink/Pearl Pink.  These were my initial reactions:  the heel cup in the insole was too low (I felt that my heel was lower than the ball of my feet), the toe box was narrow (Nikes are narrower than Adidas) and the length was shorter than other Nikes I have.  I always wear one size up in sneakers because I like to have room in front of my toes.  I wear a 10 in Adidas Ultraboost and all the other Nikes I have are 10s as well.  The Epic React felt shorter.  The store didn’t have a 10.5 so I tried on the 11.  The 11 felt better to me than the 10s.  But I think a 10.5 would be the best bet for me.  I did not like the way they felt initially but the longer I had them on they felt better.  Also, once I put in my custom orthotics, it felt even better and the heel cup didn’t bother me as much.  There was less bounce and a little more side-to-side support.  The shoe overall had a smaller profile.  The tread on the sole did not have the type of sturdier tread you find on the UltraBoost.  There was a different type of tread on the heel and forefoot.  I think the soles of these shoes will wear out faster than UltraBoosts.  So, for long distance runners, you will probably have to switch out pairs more often than UltraBoosts.  These did not feel cushy like I was walking on clouds but they are comfortable.  It really depends on preference.  The Nikes are $30 less than Ultraboosts.  These were $150 v. $180.  But I tend to think the Nikes will go on sale faster and at a steeper discount.  While writing this review, I went on the Nike website and found that this color is sold out in my size and the pink ones had my size.  I may have to go back to the store to purchase this color.  I was hoping to wait until the went on sale.

Adidas Ultraboost  Gray/Carbon/Ash Pearl

Instead of trying on the UltraBoost X, which I have many pairs of, I tried on the plain Ultraboost because the upper was the closest to the Nike Epic React.  This Ultraboost is not a “sock” upper.  I think all of you know I am partial to Ultraboost for everyday wear.  The only thing I cannot wear them for is heavy lifting and balance exercises because they are not stable enough.  But I love them for running and from going place to place or waiting around because they are so bouncy, have great cushion, light and the colorways are fantastic!  Instantly, when you put them on, you feel comfortable and don’t think you have to “break” them in.  I do not have a pair of non-UltraBoost X and I really like the profile of these shoes.  I’m partial to this color and they look better in person.  I also really like the color Cristina got because it would be so versatile.  I stayed my size up (10) from my TTS (9 in dress shoes).  Every time I think I should go half a size down, once I try them on, I like my size up better.  The toe box is definitely wider than the Nike Epic React.  I just noticed a Stella McCartney collaboration with a strap closure.  I’m going to have to try those on.  It looks like there might be more foot stability (side-to-side) because of the strap criss-crosses from side-to-side.

Side-by-Side Comparison of Nike Epic React and Adidas Ultraboost 3

As you all know, I love Adidas and their Boost line of shoes.  I used to be an only Nike girl but over time, I ventured out to Brooks (for more stability) and finally UltraBoost (because of Cristina’s recommendation and all the hype around them).  Once I bought my first pair of UltraBoost, I was obsessed!  Now that Nike (and Under Armour) have come out with their version of a single foam sole, I wanted to give them a try.  Both Nike and Under Armour developed their version of the all foam sole.  Adidas’s technology has an exclusive license from Badische Anilin & Soda-Fabrik (BASF), a German chemical company that developed the type of foam.  It’s one of the reasons why the Boost line of shoes are pricier.  I thought Nike would lower the price point more than they did ($150 v. $180).  Under Armour HOVR comes in at $140.  I suppose both Nike and Under Armour realized people would pay for a great running shoe at a higher than $150 price point so they stayed on target with market value.   I have yet to try on the Under Armour version and plan on doing so.  Here’s my side-by-side comparison of the Nike Epic React v. Adidas UltraBoost.

 Comparison

I wore one shoe each so that I could get a true comparison.  Off the bat, I noticed that the Nikes felt tighter and the sole was harder.  The low heel cup was more noticeable when I wore them with the UltraBoost.  I felt like I was walking lopsided because of it.  I jumped up and down and felt less cushion on the landing in the Epic React than the UltraBoost.  But the lift-off was a little better with the Epic React than the UltraBoost.  Both shoes had less stability in side-to-side movements than a traditional running shoe like Brooks (I really like Brooks for those days when I need a lot of stability in my foot and ankle especially when my plantar fasciitis acts up).  The Adidas footprint was slightly wider and longer than the Nike.  When wearing the UltraBoost, I feel like they were made for my foot and fit comfortably right away.  My initial reaction when trying on the Epic React was, “it’s not as comfortable as the UltraBoost”.  It was even more noticeable when I wore them side-by-side.  But as I continued to walk in the Epic React, they started to feel better — still less cushioning but comfortable nevertheless.  Traction was something else I noticed.  I think the UltraBoost has better traction (and it’s sturdier) because it is lined with Continental Rubber, which is a rubber made and developed by a tire company.  Adidas and Continental claim that with the rubber technology, every year since 2011, a new marathon record is broken.  This is 140-year technology.  Nike does not have Continental Rubber along the entire base of the sole.  They have an additional level of rubber on the heel and forefoot for better traction.  But in the store, I had better start and stop traction in the UltraBoost and when jumping, the UltraBoost allowed my foot to stay put when lifting from the ball of my foot better than the Epic React.
The Epic Reacts were nice enough for me to want to buy a pair and test them out.  I may purchase them from a store that will allow me to test them out for 30 days to see if they’re something I’d want to keep.  I’m partial to UltraBoost but I can see the Epic Reacts becoming a part of my shoe wardrobe for different reasons.  I really loved the color I tried on and now I’m going to have to hunt them down from a store.  I don’t know how helpful this comparison will be for you.  All of you will have to decide what you like better based on preference.  I would be curious to know what all of you think.  I value your opinions so much!

Adidas Deerupt Runner Shoes in Core Black/Chalk Pink

While trying on the UltraBoost and Epic Reacts, I noticed a new line of Adidas shoes — Deerupt Runner Shoes.  It caught my eye because of the webbing around the entire shoe.  It looked new-agey, sci-fi and I liked the pink sole.  I went on the Adidas website to read more about them.  Apparently, it was designed to be minimalist and the webbing is to provide some compression around the OrthoLite cushioned sock liner and lock the foot into the foam pockets molded into the shoe liner.  These shoes seemed wider than the UltraBoost.  I tried on my usual size 10 but I think I need to size down half a size in these shoes.  (I stay TTS dress shoe 9 in the NMDs).  The sole wasn’t as comfortable as Boost soles but I thought they looked very fashion forward.  I think people will either love them or hate them.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  These are shoes I’d get on markdown to mix up my athletic shoe collection.  But they’re not something I’d wear every day for comfort.  I’m going to go back and try them on longer and in a size down to see what I think of them.  I saw them styled with street clothes and I thought they looked pretty cool!  For $100, they priced much better.

L’Occitane Products On Sale

by Cristina April 25, 2018
written by Cristina

Guys! I needed to let you know immediately that L’Occitane Products are on Sale. L’Occitane is having a big sale today 20% off for their Friends & Family event with code Friend. If you are shopping the Canadian site it looks like there may be a 50% off sale – I came here so quick to post about it that I didn’t check the details yet but I’m going to go back and see what I’m getting (OMG the jumbo size shower oil!). I had to let you know because some of my friends/readers are also huge fans of the shower oil (S, you better be reading this!). I stock up on the shower oil and I also got the oil for my friend for her birthday recently. She’s told me that she’s a  huge fan of it but that her husband and kids pretty much use all her oil up in 3 days if she doesn’t hide it so she doesn’t often buy it for herself. It’s an indulgence purchase! The other products shown here are new to me and have been gifted to me by L’Occitane. I’m so grateful because these products are the epitome of luxury skincare for me and I have only ever purchased their body products before. I’ve been using the eye cream and the Aqua Gel (not available yet) and I am in love with those products so far. The Lavander bubble bath is going to be a product I know I’ll be restocking along with the bath oil. I’ll let my girls use a tiny bit of the bubble bath for their baths because lavender scented products (especially high-quality lavender and not synthetic) helps their bedtime bath routine. I really notice a huge difference in how quickly they go to sleep when I use lavender in their baths. Right now they are using the Dr. Bronners Lavender but this one smells much fresher and more fragrant and creates tons of bubbles.

*So sorry, the widget I used earlier today directed you to other stores such as QVC. QVC is great but the sale going on now is at the L’Occitane site, not at QVC.

Lululemon New Product Release Upload

by Cristina April 24, 2018
written by Cristina

The Lululemon New Product Release is here!
Sorry for the lack of posting this past week. It’s been a whirlwind trip to Dallas and the busyness of the trip paired with the unreliable wifi (200 bloggers using the same wifi server! Ha!) meant I didn’t get to blog – I did post on Instagram though and even started using stories so I’d love it if you would follow me there. I took yesterday off but I do have some awesome reviews from Mrs. O to share with you this week, and I’m planning my Rewardstyle Conference post for those of you interested in behind the scenes blogger content. I met several bloggers and vloggers I’ve followed for years and it was a very surreal experience.  I’ve come back really inspired and excited to apply some of the things I learned.

My previous few posts: The Sephora VIB Sale, The Lululemon New Product Release Upload, What To Buy At The Shopbop Sale

Nothing for me today. I am liking the Gather Up Jacket and the Love Tee V in Glossy. I really love the sneak peek of Lululemon tights in the Nice & Natural Popover picture. I think I’m liking the new Efflorescent Dark Canyon Onyx Blue? I like the contrasting muted blue and red in the print. I think I’d get tired of the print over time but I’m liking it at first glance.

Did you order anything or try any of these on in store? Let us know what your favorite picks are.

New! Carbon38 Sayang Collection in White

by Cristina April 24, 2018
written by Cristina

A new activewear upload today ahead of the Lululemon new product uploads! Many of you love the Sayang Collection from Carbon38 and they just released the collection in white, just in time for summer! I think I’m partial to the red collection though. I’m looking forward to checking out Carbon38 in New York this summer! It was really fun to see the Bandier store in Dallas but I was unfortunately extremely short on time and only got to circle the store and then I had to get my Lyft ride back to the conference. Mrs. L did a fit review of the Carbon38 Sayang collection! Those of you that have purchased pieces, let us know your fit review in the comments.
