Fit Review: Adidas SST Track Jacket and Levi’s Wedgie Fit Jeans

by Cristina April 5, 2018
written by Cristina

I had an appointment today that took me to a mall I don’t normally go to, and low and behold two items from yesterdays wish list happened to be available for try-on! I ordered the Adidas Jacket and the 501’s last night but they haven’t arrived yet, so I was really glad I got to try them on early. In my wishlist yesterday I showed the Levi’s in the 501 cut, but actually, I preferred Levi’s Wedgie Fit Jeans on me so the 501’s I ordered will go back.

My Lululemon Move Lightly Pants arrived. I’m going to post that fit review later tonight, so stay tuned.  In the meantime, reader Andrea left this try on comment about them:

“Dropped by a Lulu store and got a pair of Move Lightly Pant in Blue Tied which is a beautiful bluish grey. I prefer the length of Move Lightly Pant to On The Fly Pant and at 5’3”, it reaches about an inch above my ankle. The rise is higher than I thought and the waist is on the snug side (I’m 103 lbs and wear size 2). The pant looks flattering on my slim figure but two GECs have the same comment that it might not work on someone with a big hip. The material is really silky and comfy. I have two pairs of Lulu tencel pants I got maybe four years ago and they are still my favorite.”

Adidas Original SST Track Jacket

I love this jacket and I’m so glad I ordered it. For some reason, I didn’t expect it to be soft on the inside, but it’s actually brushed and feels pretty cozy and light. I love the relaxed fit and generous length. This is a size large. This jacket is going to get so much use and will get worn every season.

Levi’s Wedgie Fit Jean

The ‘mom jeans’! This is such a different style of jean for me but I really like them. I usually go for AG Jeans or J Brand and I almost always go for a skinny jean or a straight leg.  The Levi’s Wedgie fit comes in both a straight leg and a skinny but both have a tapered fit and a contoured snug hip area and are a much higher waist then the typical straight leg or skinny jeans. They feel really different on, and just so comfortable. I didn’t realize that both the 501’s and the Wedgie fit had button up fly. When I saw them in store today I was so disappointed because I thought I would hate that feature, but actually, I don’t mind it at all.  I love the thickness of the cotton and the dense knit. It’s soft but feels very structured compared to my other denim. I also think that a high waist with straight leg combo is much more leg lengthening on my shape.

I think I like this jean for wearing with a pretty blousy summer top or something really feminine vs. pairing them with sneakers and a tee shirt.

The 501’s were similar in the leg but not as high waisted. Had I not tried both pairs on I probably would have been very happy with the 501’s I ordered but comparing the two, the Wedgie was the winner.

Athleisure Style Staples Wish List

by Cristina April 4, 2018
written by Cristina

[show_ms_widget id=”36000891″ image_id=”41862313″ width=”1080″ height=”1080″]

My birthday is just around the corner ((38!!)) so I have a bit of an online wishlist going right now. Really, it’s a shopping cart that is locked and loaded full of my favorite Athleisure Style Staples. Because I’ve been shopping for formal outfits for a few events coming the next few months, I’m all fancied out and I’m more interested in getting something more ‘me’ for my birthday. I wear jeans, tee shirts, athletic jackets and sneakers 99.99% of my life, being a stay at home/blogger mom so these items fit my lifestyle better. I have no problem playing dress up for formal events, but I love my caz outfits.

Without further ado, here is the wishlist. I’m just about to check out on the Adidas jacket and the Levi’s 501 Selvedge jeans but I’m narrowing down my sneaker choice. I think I’m going to pass on my sneaker selection to my husband as a hint hint of what he might get me without having to run to the mall or guess on colors and sizing. I’ll probably just send him my three choices and have him get my daughters to choose for me.

  1. Levi’s 501 Skinny Jeans Selvedge I haven’t tried these on yet but I’ve really been wanting to get a pair of traditional selvedge denim that you need to break in and that stretch out perfectly to your shape. I suspect even though I ordered my TTS that these are going to be very tight at first, but I’ll know if they are break-inable. FYI, if you sign up with your email address you get 20% off plus free shipping + this specific style is already on markdown for a great price.
  2. Adidas SS Track Jacket – I love Adidas. I love the track jackets, the trefoil print, the black/white. I’ve been wanting a classic track jacket for a while but there are a few styles and I haven’t been sure which one was the right look. As soon as I saw this more relaxed fitting one with a zip-up  I knew this was the perfect look.
  3. Adidas Ultraboost Parley Stone/White/Mirror Blue – Again, I love Adidas. I discovered the amazingness that is the Ultraboost shoe last year and posted this review of my Ultraboost Parley which are my most treasured sneakers of all my many sneakers. Mrs. O also fell in love with the Ultraboosts and wrote this review here, and here. I love this particular colorway because it reminds me of my favorite Nike tank top.
  4. APL Phantom Leopard and APL Phantom Pony. These are out there, I know. I just really love the look of this faux poney (cow fur) texture on shoes. I also really love a leopard print ballet flat or scarf as an accent so it got me thinking about adding this type of fashion staple into an athletic shoe and how you would style it. It just looks so sharp and nice. Maybe a little bit Peg Bundy, but also maybe it would look awesome with black leggings, that Adidas track jacket and some blackout sunglasses. What do you guys think? I haven’t jumped on the APL train, mostly because of my undying devotion for the Adidas Ultraboosts.

The Lululemon Upload is up!

Last weeks post: The Hong Kong and UK Upload, March Favourites, Lululemon Fitting Room Try-Ons, Sale Alert!

Wow! a run jacket in a bright color! This Lululemon Upload is so surprising to me. A lot of new designs that look like familiar old retro Lululemon items. They haven’t made tencil items, especially bottoms, in years and years (I’ve posted several from ebay at the bottom of this post). I highly recommend trying them on if you are looking for a lightweight summer crop for traveling. The tencil material feels and looks like silk, but it’s thicker and more substantial. I can’t speak to this years design since I haven’t tried them on yet, but I think they are more promising then they look online. I ordered the black in two sizes to try on and if they work out I think they will look super cute with a pair of espadrille sandals and a pretty peasant tank top. I’ll do a fit review with this outfit on Thursday. The Wake Up & Go Jacket also reminds me of a thin knit hoodie from a few years ago, and the Time Out Crew may possibly be like the old reversible Every Yogi LS/Cabin LS’s. All You Do Tank also looks like a revamped retro design. I’m a little tempted by the Blissed Out Cullotes because they look so comfy but I suspect they aren’t for my body type.

Did you guys order anything or see anything you want to try on? All you old timers out there, do some of these designs remind you of old school Lululemon?

March Favorites 2018 – Foreo Issa 2, Moon Juice, Nars and More

by Cristina April 1, 2018
written by Cristina

It’s March Favourites time! I know I don’t do these posts monthly because if I did they would be super repetitive. I like to post these when I have a new routine or product that I’ve been using repeatedly throughout the month, like my Foreo Issa 2. I’m probably forgetting a lot of items, but these are the daily ritual items I’ve been using.

Foreo Issa 2, The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors +HA, Nars Soft Matte Complete, La Roche-Posay Ciciplast Baume Barrier Repairing Balm

I got the Foreo Issa 2 mid last year when my Sonicare toothbrush bit the dust. I got so fed up at my Sonicare brush constantly coming off mid brush that I knew I wanted to replace it with an electric toothbrush but didn’t want another Sonicare. Getting the Foreo was a bit of a risk because I had no idea if it would be as good as a conventional electric toothbrush which is backed by studies and dentists, but I’m happy to report it works just as well. It’s actually even cheaper than a Sonicare toothbrush.  The design is way better (and pretty!), The toothbrush itself is so much cleaner and more sanitary, it’s comfortable to hold, convenient with charging it only every 6 months and perfect to travel with. It did take some getting used to the silicone bristles rubbing my gums but I feel like I’m getting a deeper clean ad polishing. Man, I really wish that gorgeous yellow Foreo Issa 2 Toothbrush was available when I got mine. The pink is nice but that yellow is so perfect.

I’m a huge, huge fan of The Ordinary skincare by Deciem (see here: Deciem) and have a ton of their products. It’s changed my skin and vastly improved my rosacea. My latest purchase was the Moisturizing Factors. This is a huge fan favorite amongst users but because I’d been so focused on buying the flashy active ingredients for targeted issues, I wasn’t as interested in getting a simple moisturizer. This moisturizer is really great though and I love layering it over my active ingredients, and under makeup. I don’t think my dry skin has used a better moisturizer.

Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer in Vanilla is my new go-to concealer. A little of this goes a very long way and you only need a thin little dab to cover up redness. I love the formulation of this and that it’s so pigmented because with less pigmented concealers you have to layer it and you get a lot of texture. I use a creme brulle for my undereye since it’s a pink undertone that counteracts the blue, but truthfully it’s a good color match for the rest of my face too. I prefer vanilla though for my cheek area since I do have redness, and the yellow undertones in that counteracts the red. This formula is very matte so if you put too much on it will look caked on, but if you put the slightest amount on using your fingers you won’t see makeup at all, just color correction. I can definitely get away with not wearing foundation by using just a bit of this concealer.

La Roche-Posay Ciciplast lip balm is used by everyone in my house. My daughter has severe eczema and very sore redness on and around her lips when the air is dry or cold. I use a lot of the La Roche-Posay Ciciplast line on her and she has tubes of the hand lotion and lip balm in her backpack and on her nightstand. For myself, I keep the lip balm in my purse and my nightstand and I use it every night. I’m a mouth breather at night because I have a very bad deviated septum and my nose gets extremely plugged up. This means I’m waking up constantly with dry mouth and lips. I have a lot of lip balms I really love and use all the time but this is the one that is actually repairing for extreme dry lips.

Moon Juice Blue Beauty Adaptogen Protein, Beauty Dust, Pearl Powder, Vitamin D3, Tocotrienols and Krill Oil

I’ve already written about my Moon Juice haul and the beauty superfoods I’ve been trying and loving (and I’ll have more to post soon), so read this post to learn more detail about these products and why I take them. The #1 thing I recommend though is Vitamin D3. Whatever else you can take on top of that is just a bonus. I’m really liking the Pearl Powder a lot, and I’m loving my vitamin and mineral routine in the mornings. I’ve had such a huge and positive difference in my skin, hair, nails, energy, sleep, and cycles. I added this ‘toco-krill’ mid month and so far I really like it. It’s a blend of tocotrienols and krill oil for omega 3 and DHA EPA. I buy it at a local pharmacy under their own house brand so I’m not sure you can find this anywhere else, but if you are interested it’s from Finlandia Pharmacy.

Lululemon Fitting Room Try-Ons! Just Pleat It Short Sleeve, Wrap It Back Sweater, Cool & Collected Jacket

by Cristina March 30, 2018
written by Cristina

Lululemon fitting room try-ons for you this holiday weekend! Hope you are having a great weekend! I didn’t expect to find something to buy today but I definitely did. As always, let me know what you guys think in the comments section.

Just Pleat It Short Sleeve – Pearl Pink

I love Pearl Pink and was really interested in this tee when it first uploaded on Tuesday’s upload. I hesitated ordering it right off the bat because I assumed it would be too short, or sheer, or just disappointing like the Just Pleat It Tank. I really love girly details like pleats though and paired with this pink it’s just perfect. It turns out I absolutely love the fit of this on me. The length is not too short and goes over my waistband, and because of the pleat panel at the sides, the material floats away from the body in a really flattering way. This is my regular size 10. I’m finding I’m sizing up to a 12 more and more so I’d say this is a generous TTS. It is a bit on the sheer side which will suck because most of my sports bras are dark, but with my regular everyday bra in nude you really can’t see much. This top is actually going to be pretty versatile for me because I love a crew neck tee for oly lifting (cleavage during snatches is a real problem) and I would definitely wear this top casually with jeans whereas the sculpt tank II in this color I wouldn’t wear casually. Really loving this short sleeve and I highly recommend it.  $74 for a short sleeve though seems absurdly expensive, doesn’t it?

Ugh! I hate it in the next two photos.

Wrap It Back Sweater Wrap It Back Sweater

Wrap It Back Sweater – Sea Breeze

This sweater was a real problem for me. I definitely need a size up in it because in my TTS, the plainer side really clings to every lump and bump and the effect is just hideous. This is my TTS 10 in these photos and I didn’t get to try the size up for comparison.  If you are firmer bodied in this area I think it won’t be problematic, but let’s face it, a good proportion of us have bra and waistband lumps. I first tried this on with the plain side forward and I just cringed. I was ready to take it off and burn it but then decided to reverse it to see what it looked like with the wraps in the front. I actually really love the look of the wraps in the front and find it very flattering, but then the plain back is problematic once again. The wraps in the front really balance a curvy pear shape and accentuate the bust.  I think if there had been a slight a-line to the fit of this, or a bit of extra material at the back it wouldn’t cling so badly. Sizing up will help some but more than that I think it needs a slight A-line, and I’d also like more length to it.  I’ll probably try it on again on Monday but I’m passing on this sweater regardless. The material is really soft and luxurious and I love the Sea Breeze color.

Cool & Collected Jacket

Cool & Collected Jacket – Sea Breeze

I have a thing for light cotton french terry jackets. I don’t love the thickness of scuba hoodies at all but thin cotton jackets are perfect for me. I loved the color of this jacket, and love the overall feel and fit of this jacket. It’s a really comfortable relaxed TTS and not an awkward length. I was drawn to this jacket because of the pretty color and the feminine ruching detail at the shoulders but I actually think the ruching is slightly unflattering to the overall shape. It gives the illusion of rolled hunch shoulders I think.  I’m not sure, maybe I was being fussy. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t have to have it so I’ve got this on my ‘maybe’ list for now. If it ever gets marked down in this color I’ll probably pounce on it

Sale Alert! Nordstrom and J. Crew! Ruffle Neck Pullover Sweater and The Going Out Blazer With Ruffles

by Cristina March 29, 2018
written by Cristina

A lot of you guys got the same J. Crew Peony Pink Ruffle Neck Pullover Sweater that I did last week so I wanted to let you know that it’s on sale again today, only this time it’s a straight 40% off. When I posted about it last week, J. Crew was having a sale which required you to purchase 4 items to get 25% off your total, but the pink sweater was sold out anyways and full price at Nordstrom (it’s back online right here though) and The Going Out Blazer With Ruffles I tried on today is also on sale.  If you got the ruffle sweater at Nordstrom or J. Crew you should be able to get a price adjustment. If you put it in your shopping cart or wish list and where thinking of getting it, now is the time!

PS! Nordstrom Rack is having their Clear The Rack event from March 28- April 1. An additional 25% off all sale items!

J. Crew The Going Out Blazer With Ruffles

I’ve been on the hunt for a blazer I can wear with jeans, over a tee shirt, and with sneakers,  but I haven’t loved anything I’ve tried on so far. Some of them have looked great, but felt ‘not me’ and too business formal. Another problem I’ve had with blazers is my proportions. Blazers are not meant for short curvy girls. I’ve needed to size up in blazers for the right fit, but then the shoulder area is way too big and bunched up off the ends.  More boxy styled blazers just swallow me up. This blazer caught my eye last week and I so badly wanted to try it on but it was on a very high display and I talked myself out of getting one down to try on. I told myself that it would be unflattering for my body type and it was too expensive anyway. Today I saw it on sale for 40% off and it was not displayed near the ceiling so I was able to grab it myself. I was so surprised when I tried it on that not only was it really cute and the right kind of casual for me, it was pretty flattering. I love the ruffles and the lack of a collar or buttons. It fastens closed with three hidden hooks, or can be left open. I know ruffles really annoy some of you and I completely get it but I really love the girly touches on this. This is a size 12 and I think it’s dead on. The shoulders fit right, I can fasten it closed and have room for a sweater underneath.

What do you guys think? I have it on hold at the store until tomorrow morning but I’m leaning towards purchasing it.

I’m listening to the Lululemon 4th Quarter and Year End Earnings call simultaneously to writing the upload post.  I can’t lie,  I was titillated by the Laurent Potdevin scandal and hoping to hear more gossipy snippets (spoiler – there was none). I have to say though that this earnings call hosted by several Lululemon executives was much more compelling to listen to even during the boring financial stuff which I rarely understand.  Glen Murphy (the interim CEO) uses much less corporate jargon than any other previous CEO.  Lululemon had a miraculously phenomenal year, specifically on e-commerce which went up 42%! They had a growth of 1 million new guests! Customer side, we may not have loved the website redesign but it’s obviously been very successful for them, which ultimately is very good for us. We will be seeing some new features on the website such as order online and pick up in store, some new search functions and customer customization on the site.

A few items I liked from this upload and am mulling over – the Just Pleat It SS, Cool & Collected Jacket, Low Key Long Sleeve, Efflorescent Define Jacket, Round Two Tee. I like the look of the Silver Fox burnout material. The top contenders for a ‘check -out’ are the Just Pleat It SS in pink, Round Two Tee in Silver Fox and the Low Key Long Sleeve in Blue. I really want to try n the green Cool & Collected Jacket.

Guest Fit Review: Time To Sweat Crop, Fast & Free Crop Memoir Multi Green, Goal Crusher Jacket, Efflorescent Nebula Black Align Pants

by Cristina March 26, 2018
written by Cristina

Thanks to Mrs. O for this wonderful fit review. Posts have been light this week thanks to Spring Break and keeping the kids busy but should be back to normal this week.

Time to Sweat Crop in Memoir Multi Purple Time to Sweat Crop in Memoir Multi Purple Time to Sweat Crop in Memoir Multi Purple

Time To Sweat Crop

When I saw the Memoir Multi print, I thought I’d gravitate towards the purple.  But when I saw both in store, the green was much more vibrant and Spring like.  The purple was great too but compared to the green it seemed too muted.  I had never tried on the Time to Sweat Crop.  This crop was TTS and comfortable.  I did not notice any fading in the pattern even though it’s backed on white.  I thought the seaming was flattering as well.  However, in the Memoir Multi print, I thought the seaming took away from the print.  It was too busy with too many different pieces of the print.  If the print wasn’t placed right, it would make the tight look very light in one section and too dark in another.  It would compel me to go through every pair to find the one with the best pattern placement.  Also, because the pattern is irregular, the seams created more lines in the pattern than there actually were.  I think this tight is better suited for a uniform pattern or solid color.  This tight is made from Full On Luxtreme so it muted the print on the fabric.  Also, the purple isn’t as vibrant as it appears on the site.  I don’t love this pattern enough to get both colors.  So, if I had to choose, I choose green.

Memoir Multi Green Fast & Free Crop

Fast & Free Crop in Memoir Multi Green and WU 1/2 Tight in Memoir Multi Green

I really loved the vibrant green in the Memoir Multi print.  I tried the print on in both the F&F Crop and WU 1/2 Tight.  I did notice that the F&F was slightly more vibrant because of the Nulux fabric.  It was subtly muted in Full On Luxtreme.  Both were TTS and I barely noticed any fading.  Maybe a bit of fading on a deep bend test in the bum.  I didn’t notice any fading across the hips/thighs.  But then again, I’m not that hippy.  I also didn’t notice the deeper color on the pockets of the F&Fs as much as I do with other prints.  As you all know, I’m not really a floral person but I think I like this floral enough to buy it.  As much as I love F&Fs, I’ll probably get the WU 1/2 Tight (even though it’s a bit more muted) because of the price point and the fact that I probably won’t grab them as often.  This pattern was very nice on the Speed Up Shorts.  I still haven’t decided if I’ll stick with crops or get it in a short

Goal Crusher Jacket in Redwood Goal Crusher Jacket in Redwood Goal Crusher Jacket in Redwood Goal Crusher Jacket Hang Tag

Goal Crusher Jacket

I was really interested in this jacket because of the color, lightweight fabric and ruffle detail in the back.  Redwood looks gorgeous in this fabric.  I’m not sure what fabric it is and the site doesn’t tell you what it is.  It’s a cross between swift and glyde.  It was very lightweight.  It’s a good wind breaker.  It fit TTS but I thought the fit wasn’t so great.  It felt too loose on the lower torso/hip area.  It bellowed out a bit.  I know that a size down would have been too small in the shoulders.  I also thought the ruffle detailing in the back hit me in an awkward place.  (I have a long torso).  For a very lightweight windbreaker priced at $148 USD, I think it could have had better seaming (it pulled the fabric in unflattering ways), a better fit and a few more cute details.  But I do like the trend of more feminine pieces we’ve been seeing lately.  This jacket was a pass for me.  I hope we get more items in redwood though.

Align Pant in Efflourescent Nebula Black

Align Pant in Efflourescent Nebula Black

I thought this would be a nice subtle floral for me.  I really liked the look of the black and gray.  For those of you that like grays but stay away because it calls to our “imperfections”, this would be a good compromise.  There was enough black in the tight to hide any “imperfections”.  I think the flowers chosen for this pattern were fun.  It made the pattern seem more “colorful” because I imagine these flowers in bright colors even though the tight is gray and black.  For a floral, this would be a tight I’d probably grab more often than brighter florals.  As usual, the Aligns were TTS and I could have sized down as well without any problem.

The Lululemon Upload is up!
Last weeks posts, New At Lululemon, The Lululemon Upload, Perfect Backless Loafers For Spring, Two Cute Sweaters For Spring

Do you ever have one of those days were all technology fails you? That was today for me. The worst part is that I normally set up my upload post first thing in the morning so that when the upload happens all I have to do is populate it and write my intro. The frame work of a post has a lot of little back end information that needs to happen. I didn’t get to do that this morning and so right before upload I tried to log in and the entire site was down. I had to SCRAMBLE to figure out what was happening and get it back up and running. Blood pressure through the rough now and my computer (which is imminently due for an upgrade) decides it wants to lag with every single key stroke. Whyeeee? is it mercury retrograde? full moon?

Anyways, after a hot second of temper tantruming I saw that Canada got both the short sleeve and long sleeve Pearl Pink Swiftly. I ordered the SS but I’m torn on what I prefer – short sleeve or long sleeve.

By the way, if you aren’t on my socials you didn’t get my memo but Ebay is currently having a site wide 15% off sale with code PSPRingtime. I’ve been a huge resale shopper (and occasional seller) on ebay for Lululemon over the years, and more recently for a lot of non lululemon items, and some luxury items. When the current Lululemon items aren’t interesting me, I can always find amazing older items that are seasonally appropriate on ebay. If I fall in love with something from a retailer that is sold out on my preferred color or size, I check ebay for it. This is how I got a great winter coat this year for a tiny fraction of the price.  I’ve got a few great resale items I’m going to share with you soon but I thought I’d mention the sale to you in case you are hunting any old Lululemon unicorns.
