Stride Jacket II is back!

by Cristina February 7, 2018
written by Cristina

As I mentioned yesterday, the Stride Jacket II has been brought back. I forgot how much I like this jacket. I have had several Stride Jackets over the years and sold them before knowing that they would be removed from production. This run comes in black, this heathered black and a heathered light grey (possibly slate). None of the colors intrigue me but if the Stride Jacket II comes in a fun color like Quicksand, Persian Red or Persian Blue, or with a print, I’d be all over it. Remember when they used to make awesome color combinations and contrasting inside the seams?

The Lululemon Upload is live!

Here are last weeks posts: Statement Sweaters For Spring, The Lululemon Upload, Lululemon Store Photos, Lululemon Try-Ons, Lululemon CEO Laurent Potdevin Resigned

Nothing for me today except that 3 pack of secret socks. I actually went to my store in search for the 3 pack this morning but they didn’t have it in yet. I got a new pair of sneakers the other day and they specifically need ultra low no show socks. I’ll be posting about my sneaker find this week.  Interestingly, my store had Stride Jacket II’s in in three colors (black, heathered black and heathered grey). I tried one on (post coming later) and remembered how much I love them. I have had several over the years but sold them before they where discontinued when I thought they were a renewable resource. None of the colors this round tempted me but if it comes in an enticing color like quicksand or porcelain, or Persian red or Persian blue I’d definitely purchase one. The Non-Stop Bomber in Porcelain was intriguing but when I clicked on the color I was really disappointed in how dark it is. I expected a pretty soft pink. Aritzia has way nicer options for bomber jackets that are cheaper and they even had a soft pretty porcelain pink one on sale. Whenever I feel tempted by this Lululemon bomber jacket, I just look at the options at Aritzia and I’m cured of the temptation.

Did you guys order anything today?

Lululemon CEO Laurent Potdevin Resigned

by Cristina February 5, 2018
written by Cristina

‘This is a huge story, mostly because of how this press release has been worded and the unspecified failure to achieve the required “standards of conduct”,  and that it was ‘effective immediately’. Sounds pretty scandalous. Definitely wondering what has gone down as far as not achieving ‘standards of conduct’. The speculations on this one is pretty obvious considering the current climate. I am glad to see that whatever untoward conduct happened, Lululemon has clearly taken it seriously enough to have their CEO resign.

lululemon expects all employees to exemplify the highest levels of integrity and respect for one another, and Mr. Potdevin fell short of these standards of conduct. The Board of Directors has immediately begun a search process for a proven and highly-experienced global Chief Executive Officer.

Three senior leaders to assume expanded roles reporting to Executive Chairman Glenn Murphy

VANCOUVER, British Columbia–(BUSINESS WIRE)– lululemon athletica inc. (NASDAQ:LULU), the healthy lifestyle inspired athletic apparel company, today announced that Laurent Potdevin has resigned as CEO and as a member of the company’s Board of Directors, effective immediately. lululemon expects all employees to exemplify the highest levels of integrity and respect for one another, and Mr. Potdevin fell short of these standards of conduct. The Board of Directors has immediately begun a search process for a proven and highly-experienced global Chief Executive Officer.

“While this was a difficult and considered decision, the Board thanks Laurent for his work in strengthening the company and positioning it for the future,” said Glenn Murphy, Executive Chairman of the Board. “Culture is at the core of lululemon, and it is the responsibility of leaders to set the right tone in our organization. Protecting the organization’s culture is one of the Board’s most important duties.”

In his newly expanded role as Executive Chairman, Mr. Murphy will focus on achieving long-term, sustainable results for all stakeholders. Three of lululemon’s senior leaders are being elevated and will take on additional responsibilities, reporting to Mr. Murphy: Celeste Burgoyne, Executive Vice President, Americas, will oversee all channel and brand-facing aspects of the global business, including stores and e-commerce, as well as brand marketing; Stuart Haselden, Chief Operating Officer, will have responsibility for all operations related to finance, supply chain, people, and technology; and Sun Choe, Senior Vice President of Merchandising, will guide all aspects of product development, design, innovation, and merchandising.

Mr. Murphy added, “The Board is entirely confident that Celeste, Stuart and Sun – three leaders deeply tied to the recent momentum in the business – can continue to execute on lululemon’s growth strategy and drive global performance. Based upon their contributions to the recent expansion of the business, their history of collaboration with one another and their strong support across the lululemon organization, we believe this trio of leaders will take lululemon from strength to strength.”

Today, lululemon also reaffirmed its updated guidance provided on January 8, 2018, that reflects the ongoing momentum of the business. In addition, the company’s growth strategies remain on track to achieve $4 billion in revenue in 2020. The company’s continued success in the market it created is rooted in its strong connection to its guests and vertically integrated business model; embodiment of the active, mindful lifestyle; and category-disrupting product innovation that blends fashion and function.

Guest Fit Review: Gather & Go Jacket, Gate Keeper Jacket, Gate Keeper SS

by Cristina February 1, 2018

Thanks to Mrs. O for the wonderful fit review!!

Gather & Go Jacket Gather & Go Jacket Gather & Go Jacket

Gather & Go Jacket

Because I was pleasantly surprised with the Scuba Hoodie *Glyde, I wanted to try this on because I liked the Glyde fabric.  This jacket was below my radar because of the wide, gathered cuffs.  And, as I suspected, I didn’t like the fit of this jacket at all.  It is a very roomy TTS.  I probably could have sized down but it may have been too snug at the waist (even though there’s a good amount of give).  I though my TTS fit great on the waist.  Other than the fabric, the fit across the waist was the only other thing I liked about this jacket.  It’s too short and the cuffs are too wide.  Had it been a couple of inches longer (more traditional bomber jacket length) with narrower cuffs, it might have worked.  It also  bagged out awkwardly in the torso area.  The pocket placement was odd.  For busty ladies, I think the pockets would have looked even weirder.  Who wants pockets right under their boobs?  Even the model on the website looks awkward with her hand in the pocket.  This is a definite pass for me.

Gate Keeper Short Sleeve Gate Keeper SS

Gate Keeper Short Sleeve

I finally got a chance to try on the Gait Keeper SS in Heathered Bonfire.  I really love the burnt orange color.  Actually, I’ve always been partial to orange even though blue is my favorite color.  I think orange works with my skin tone.  This SS is really lightweight and breezy.  The fabric has a nice texture and although it feels delicate to the touch, it’s durable.  The shirt is a baggie TTS.  The store didn’t have a size down for me to try.  (Don’t mind the crinkled seam on the right side.  I think this shirt was crinkled in the box when shipped.  None of the other shirts had that issue).  I actually think it would look really cute with jeans, slightly tucked in the front with a loose fitting, mid-thigh sweater or jacket.  Because the shirt was so airy, I think I would try wearing it spinning.  The shirt is definitely cropped length.  So, for you taller ladies (I’m 5’6″), you might think it’s too short.  Since I’m still on the ban island, this shirt is on my wishlist and I’m waiting to see if the color comes out in any other offerings.

Gate Keeper Jacket Gate Keeper Jacket Gate Keeper Jacket Gate Keeper Jacket Hang Tag

Gate Keeper Jacket

I love peplum detailing especially when it’s in the back.  For me, the heathered black was my favorite color.  This is a slim fitting jacket with a similar fit as the define but slightly longer.  The shoulders fit better in this jacket than the define does in my TTS.  I tried on my TTS and a size up (6).  Although I liked the fit across the chest in a size up, the waist and hip area became too baggy and billowed out a lot more.  I thought it added weight on me and it ruffled too much in the back.  The Ed thought between the two sizes, my TTS fit the way it is supposed to.  It’s meant to be slim fitting.  I liked the hidden thumb hole feature and the inside cuff, which was soft like nulu.  Also, no matter the size, near the pockets it wrinkled a bit because it’s a hidden zipper pocket.  All of my items with that type of hidden zipper pockets does the same thing.  (Does anyone else have that same problem?  I think the website photos are heavily airbrushed).  For those of you ladies that are curvier than me, a size up might work well for you around the hip area.  If you’re a true hourglass, I’m not sure how it would fit across the chest for you.  That’s just going to depend on your personal preference.  This definitely is on my wish list.  I’m really liking the fact that Lululemon is adding more feminine details.

Lululemon Store Photos: Weather Or Not 1/2 Zip, Spring Bloom Multi, Blissful Zen Wrap and More

by Cristina February 1, 2018
written by Cristina

Lots of store photos today. The Weather Or Not 1/2 Zip is really interesting. It’s made of spacer luxtreme fabric and really soft, but I wonder how it creases in this light color and how unforgiving it might be in TTS. I love that it has cute writing details at the 1/2 zip and inside the pocket. This is a cute touch Lululemon used to do all the time. I’d love to try this one on in a size up when it uploads because I suspect because of the fabric and cut it may be unforgiving. I do love the look of it though.

The Blissful Zen Wrap is so gorgeous in So Merlot. I really want it but I hate that it has the sides completely open. If it was just a regular cut cardigan like the Sit In Lotus I’d be all over ordering this one.

I ended up ordering the Redwood In Motion 7/8 Tight, and then later saw in store that the Play Off The Pleats Tight which I’m curious about also comes in Redwood. I think I prefer the material of the In Motion, but I love the pleat design on the lower calf of these.

The Lululemon Upload is up!

Last weeks posts Lululemon Upload, Lululemon Asia Exclusive for Lunar New Year, Lululemon Store Photos, Statement Sweaters For Spring.

I feel really positive about this Lululemon upload. I’m especially loving all the interesting pinks, nudes and reds mixed in with teals and blue based prints. I really love the new Free To Be Serene Tank and the new Define Jacket. Persian Red is just stunning and I cannot wait to see more items in it. Last week I really wanted the Porcelain Pink Swiftly Tech LS, but since so many items uploaded today in pretty pinks I ended up ordering the Free To Be Serene Tank to try on, which is a new style for me. The Play Off The Pleats Tight is also really pretty, as are the SO Merlot Wunder Unders and the Redwood In Movement Tight.

I’m still debating another purchase so I’ll either go with So Merlot Wunder Under Crops, or Redwood In Movement Tights. I saw that the Play Off The Pleats Tights is coming in red (photos later) so if those are redwood I may prefer those to the In Movement Tights…. I don’t know. I’ve been off the gym for 6 weeks now due to this hand injury and my bronchitis so I’m looking forward to going back very soon. I am very nervous though so I’m trying to bribe myself to get back in full swing by getting new outfit.

What do you guys think about today’s upload? Are you as excited about the colors, prints and designs? It’s been a while since we’ve had a nice full upload.

This is not a tank style I typically go for, but I think it’s just gorgeous in this color so I ordered it. Since I’ve been bitterly complaining at the lack of tank options and tank color releases, I thought I should at least give this beauty a chance. Maybe I’ll get a snap button added to the middle back on the bra so I can bring up that open back.

I really like the rushing at the lower leg on these pants, and the seam detailing. I mostly love a nice solid pant without mesh inserts all over the place. I believe some stores have this pant in a dark burgundy color (merlot maybe?) but for some reason it wasn’t uploaded. I’d love it in that reddish color.

Statement Sweaters For Spring

by Cristina January 25, 2018
written by Cristina

I’ve been really into Statement Sweaters For Spring lately as you know from my Free People purchases, which is a strange thing for this tee shirt and jeans wearing girl. Statement sweaters have been really catching my eye and unfortunately, the #1 statement sweater that I’ve been lusting after is completely out of reach price wise. I’ve been lusting hard after this Bella Freud jumper but sweaters are just not investment pieces for me so I can’t bear to spend that kind of money, especially on something I can’t try on first. Enter these beautiful options from Loft. I’ve never shopped Loft before except a few weeks ago I had to hunt for a particular style of dress to wear to a wedding (post to come on that!), and I found beautiful options at Loft for insane markdowns. I was amazed at the gorgeous prints they have out lately! I found a dress that I loved, and it was $34! Anyways, I was hooked and came back to Loft this week and noticed they had all new Spring merch.

This ‘Love’ sweater was the first thing to catch my eye. I’ve seen similar ideas elsewhere but either couldn’t figure out the retailer that sold the sweaters, or they just didn’t live up to expectations in person. This one is a really beautiful pink that isn’t bubblegum pink, and it’s a very soft cotton knit. It’s such a lovely soft knit that isn’t hot or overly warm. I love the cropped sleeve detail.  The price for this sweater is a steal at $59.50, but I just realized it’s on sale for 40% off online right now as are all the other sweaters in this post.  I purchased it in store at full price but I’m actually going to return these to take advantage of this sale price. This is a size L on me and it fits just right. long enough to cover my hips, and not boxy.

Love Sweater Love Sweater Love Sweater

Another sweater statement I’ve had a thing for is bright yellow knits. I saw a woman the other day wearing the most intense yellow sweater and I was so in love with it. It wasn’t a spring yellow though. Something about it was just a touch cool and so nice with her skin tone which was so similar to mine. Yellow is a hard color to pull off and you have to get exactly the right tone. I could tell immediately that this was the right yellow for me. I have cool skin tone but I also have a lot of redness on my skin so yellows are especially tricky and I need one that has a slightly cool undertone.  At Loft I saw this sweater and realized it was the same yellow, which must be the color of the season. It’s not the same sweater she was wearing (hers was a fuzzier knit) but it’s the same tone of yellow.

This is a size L and I purchased it in this size but I actually think I need it in a medium. It’s nice and oversized but I think there is too much material in the arms and chest area.

Loft: Textured Boatneck Sweater Loft: Textured Boatneck Sweater

It also comes in this pretty pink which we’ve been seeing everywhere. I liked it a lot too and I think it looks nice on as well but I was attached to the yellow.

Loft: Textured Boatneck Sweater Loft: Textured Boatneck Sweater

I tried this one on as an afterthought not thinking much of it on the hangar, but this one is actually my very favorite. I love the whipstitch detailing on it. I love whipstitch the same way I’m loving splatter paint prints lately. I love a black and white stripe, I love the feminine sleeve detailing and I love the fit. It’s also a cotton knit and very breathable, soft and not stuffy and hot. This is a size L and I’m quite happy with the fit of it. I will be wearing this sweater a ton – as much as my Free People Sweater.

Loft: Striped Whipstitch Sweater Loft: Striped Whipstitch Sweater

What do you guys think? Do you shop at Loft? I’m excited to find a new store I love along with my usual Aritzia/Nordstrom/Zara/Club Monaco/Lululemon stops in the mall.

Check these sweaters out here and my favorite that jeans are still on sale!

Lululemon Store Photos: Weightless Wunder Jacket, Bonfire Wunder Under Pant, Reveal Tights Precision

by Cristina January 23, 2018
written by Cristina

Store photos came sprinkling in today. I don’t like the Reveal Tights Precision but they photograph really beautifully. They look a lot more edgy in these photos. Bonfire Wunder Unders on the other hand, that color is just stunning. Maybe I want a Swiftly Tech LS in this color.

I saw the weightless Wunder Jacket briefly today and couldn’t try it on. I did touch it and squish it though and it’s very light weight glyde. The outer material seems really thin compared to other down jackets Lululemon has come out with so I think that must be were the lightness of the overall jacket comes from, because it’s really stuffed with down. It’s 800- fill down FYI.

These photos of the Reveal Tight Precision are especially great. They look so edgy! I don’t like on the web photos that the material has a slight sheen on it in areas like the rear. In all of these photos the tights look more matte and opaque.

Lululemon Asia Exclusive For Lunar New Year

by Cristina January 23, 2018
written by Cristina

Lululemon Asia Exclusive For Lunar New Year uploaded to the Hong Kong site tonight! A few weeks ago we see an Asia exclusive capsule from Lululemon which was very different from this. It was a beautiful red, but heavily branded capsule. Comments, including mine, where generally negative about the heavy branding but also positive about the bright red which has been lacking at Lululemon for a long time. Some of you speculated that first capsule may be for the Lunar New Year. Hong Kong just got this magnificent upload for the Lunar New Year and nowhere does it say it’s exclusive, but it does call these pieces SE (special edition). I assume these will only be sold in asian markets, but perhaps some locations in North America will sell these. I can see this being a huge hit for the local Vancouver market so I’ll be keeping an eye on the Robson St. store. What do you guys think? It’s a very small capsule with just two items but the color blocking with black and the beautiful subtle red floral print is just stunning.

The print is so beautiful. It’s such a subtle floral. I think the flower they used here is the Narcissus which represents good fortune and prosperity and is a very auspicious flower for the Chinese New Year.
