Guest Fit Review: Rest Less Pullover, In Movement 7/8 Tight, Variegated Wunder Under, Back In Action Tank and Back In Action LS

written by Cristina

Thank you to Mrs. O for her always thoughtful and thorough fit review posts! I’d like to do a bunch of fit reviews soon but right now I only have my Box It Out Jogger and Press Pause Jogger in the queue for this weekend. I am in transition and living amongst a ton of boxes so I won’t be able to do fit reviews from home until I’m in my new place and have set up for it.

Rest Less Pullover, In Movement 7/8 Tight

I wanted to try the pullover rather than the 1/2 zip because I have so many 1/2 zips.  This pullover is a size up.  You should get your Swiftly size in this pullover.  My TTS was too tight around the shoulders and armpit area.  When I sized up, I also liked the length better.  It came down to a nice place covering my bum just enough.  Like others that have commented, I would have preferred that the crew neck was not made of the same cuff fabric and if it had cuffins and a thumb hole.  Because it has a thumb hole, I can live without the cuffin.  The fabric (not sure what it is) is not as soft as rulu (too bad).  I’m undecided on this pullover so it stayed at the store.  I need to wait an see what other stuff will be coming out.

For the tall ladies out there, I’m happy to report that the In Movement 7/8 Tight is long.  It’s not as short as the recent 7/8 tights that have been coming out.  These 7/8 tights were definitely full length on me.  For the shorter ladies, I’m not sure how much they could hem these because of the bottom seam that swirls around to the front.  But there’s definitely enough space to be able to hem them.  It would just depend on how much you need to hem them.  I ended up getting the 7/8 tights as well as the crops because it’s a nice, basic solid black tight without reflective or mesh detail.

Back In Action LS

I didn’t particularly care for this LS.  I really like the color but the fit was awkward.  In comparison to the sleeves, the body of the LS was too loose and the way the seams were sewn in the back, it didn’t drape as nicely as it could have.  The front looked like a regular slightly loose fitting LS until you lifted your arms and had bat wings (from the back) rather than down the middle of the side seam.  I think if it draped a bit more in the front it would have been nicer.  This LS is a looser TTS.  I like the length of the back but the drape didn’t work well for me.  I just think it made me look wide from the back.  Perhaps if it were made with modal, it might have looked better.

Back In Action Tank Back In Action Tank

Back In Action Tank

Although I liked the neckline and how this tank fit around the shoulders (it was a flattering cut), the middle part was too loose and awkward looking.  I don’t think removing the security tag would have fixed the front draping issue.  Also, because it’s a straight hem, the loose sides flared weirdly.  I think if it were a curved hem it would have given a better silhouette and illusion.  Again, because of the seams in the back (and cut of the fabric) it didn’t drape in the back as nicely as it could have.  The LS and tank was a no for me.  I just don’t think it did anything for me.  When I saw myself in it, it was a “eh, it’s ok” reaction.  I’d love to hear how others wear it and what they pair with it to make it work.  I suspect if I had narrower shoulders, it would look better.

Wunder Under Low Rise Tight Variagated Wunder Under Low Rise Tight Variagated

Wunder Under Hi Rise Tight Variegated Knit

These WUs had a very nice feel and texture to it.  The fabric was just heavy enough to make it feel like it will keep you warm during the colder months (but not in extreme cold).  The herringbone pattern was smaller than seasons past, which I liked better.  These are TTS and fully opaque.  Even though these are low rise, I didn’t think they were too low or hit me in an awkward place on my waist.  Since these are full length tights, if I got them, I would definitely have to hem them.  There was a lot of extra material at the bottom.  Because these weren’t special enough I didn’t get them.  LOL, I can’t get everything I want.  I have to learn better self-control and moderation.  Haha!

September: Back To Gym Routines

by Cristina September 13, 2017
written by Cristina

Doesn’t September always feel like a new year? After a summer of slow paced routine-less days, it always feels so good to get to September and re establish old September gym routines, good habits and self-care. This was an especially chaotic summer for me so I have eagerly embraced the ‘back to school, back to gym’ craziness post labour day. I’m still not quite settled as we are living amongst boxes and packing until we move to our new home later this month, but I feel a little more myself already.

You may remember my post about restarting the  IIFYM Diet and know that I struggled with a bit of weight gain over the summer. So far the diet is very manageable despite a few days of feeling really very hungry (with plenty of calories consumed). I took that as a sign that my metabolism was revving up, but so far the weight isn’t just melting off as I’d hoped despite being very strict. Perhaps it’s just the first few weeks of IIFYM that require adjusting of water balance, so I’m not going to freak out too much just yet. I wish it was easier but it only gets harder the older you get.

My gym routine is ticking along but I’m facing what happens when you take a few months off of regular cardio. I had a really hard time with one particular workout this week and it was so frustrating.  My strength has pretty much come back immediately (but with extra achiness the next day), but the lactic acid burn with cardio workouts is horrible, and it’s scaring me off slightly from the more cardio intense workouts. I’ve decided not to even look at what the workout is before I leave in the mornings because if I see running, or burpees I will talk myself out of going.

Almost halfway through the month and I’ll say that my efforts aren’t showing yet in either workouts or weight loss and I don’t fully have my groove back yet but I think I’m off to a good start and I’m putting in the work consistently. I did actually get a PR last night in Olympic Lifting and I’m really excited about that. It wasn’t quite a PR since we haven’t maxed out yet in front squats, but it was a PR so far and a great starting point for the rest of the year with goal setting in my weight lifting.

How have your September wellness/self-care/fitness routines been shaping up? I’d love to know how your September is going so we can motivate each other.

The Lululemon Upload

The Lululemon Upload

written by Cristina

The Lululemon Upload is up! Wow! This was a crazy spendy upload for me. Winter is here! Lululemon Fall/Winter 2017 is about a month later than usual, but I’m loving a lot of the items. Finally, we are seeing color injected in!! My first priority was ordering the Swiftly Tech LS in Viola. I got the SS and loved it so much I knew I needed the LS too and I would never normally buy both. Second, I needed the Run On Tights in Nouveau Match and the Run On Joggers made of RULU. This is this years version of the Base Runner Pants which I love. Forth was the wild card order for me, the In Movement 7/8 Tight. They are ‘black tights’ so realistically I would have normally put off purchasing a basic black tight in light of all the other fun ‘wants’ on my list, but this is the new everlux fabric which I’ve been dying to try out. My friend told me about it last week when she spotted the eds at our local store wearing them and she told me they where amazing. She was looking for details on these pants from me since I’m the ‘in the know’ blogger but actually, she tipped me off on these new amazing tights.

Fenty Beauty By Rihanna on Sephora

by Cristina September 12, 2017
written by Cristina

I broke down! I haven’t been interested in any of the celebrity makeup that’s been hyped up like KKW or Kylie Lipsticks but for some reason, I’ve been intrigued by the Fenty Beauty debut ever since I saw the empty displays at my local store, and saw the hints on Instagram. I think it’s because I love complexion based makeup over eyeshadows, and I really like highlighters which this line has a huge selection of, and I’ve been drawn to Rihanna’s dramatic makeup looks even though they aren’t really ‘my look’.

In the 90’s it was the celebrity endorsed perfume lines like Brittany and J-Lo, and now it’s celebrity branded makeup that seems to be the endorsements darling. Do you think Taylor Swift will ever come out with a makeup line? I can see Taylor Swift doing juicy dramatic lipsticks, and eyeliners.

Interestingly the Fenty Beauty line doesn’t have a full lipstick line despite having 40 shades of foundation, which is unusual for most makeup brands. Typically, they are in the 20-30 range, with 30 being considered ‘good’. It’s expensive to create a very diverse range, but it should be standard.  Overall there isn’t really a huge amount of products launched but there is a big variety of highlighters, oil blotters, and foundation.  I wonder if she will ever do a full comprehensive makeup line (like Marc Jacob), or if it’s just this specialty accessory makeup product line. I’m curious to see if the quality is there (which I assume it would be since it’s sold and promoted by Sephora), and if the packaging is solid and in line with the pricing. I’ll definitely do a review on the line if you guys are interested in this, but let me know in the comments. I’m not at all a beauty guru but I do love makeup. Just don’t ever ask me to do a winged liner because I cannot get that figured out.

I think this line definitely skews young, as do most celebrity makeup lines, but I really like mixing up fun and unusual makeup pieces with my everyday makeup. There is a place for blue mascara and gold highlighter next to my very serious bobbi brown foundation stick and nude lipsticks.

Do any of these Fenty Beauty products speak to you? will you be trying it out?

Fenty Beauty

I stayed up for tonights midnight product drop on Sephora.com, and immediately the website crashed. There was an interesting waiting room that kept automatically refreshing every 60 seconds, and eventually, it let me in. Unfortunately, when I was let in, I kept getting bumped out until finally I was able to actually click on products and put them in my shopping cart. I wonder if this was a marketing ploy to create hype, or if the site was really overburdened.

I was finally able to order and what I chose to order first was this really pretty gold highlighter. There is a video on the website of it swatched and it’s so pretty. I think I plan to use this on my collar bone, and in tiny strategic spots on my eyelid, like an accent eyeshadow. I wonder how subtle it blends out, or if it’s meant to be a very obvious, very theatrical highlighter. I hope I can subtle it down.

The gold highlighter is used on this model shot, on her cheekbones, and on her lips.

Fenty Beauty

The foundation has an incredible range of 40 colors which is an unusually high number for most brands. I would love to swatch this in store (possibly in the morning) to see what the formula is like, and the coverage.

Here we go! We are finally seeing Lululemon Fall/Winter 2017 items. More Jacquard items I’m not crazy about but I am loving the floral, violet and Aeon, and I’m loving the new Extra Mile Jacket. I’m wanting to order the new In Movement Tight or Crops which is made of the new everlux material. It’s a combo of luxtreme and nulux which feels a little bit like spacer. I love some of the more thin and stretchy spacer fabrics so it has potential for me. I also want to order the Violet Swiftly Tech LS and Run On Jogger.

Activewear Trends Fall/Winter 2018 – Japanese & Linear Florals

by Cristina September 12, 2017
written by Cristina

I thought it would be fun to get my creative side out and start mood board posts like this one for Activewear Trends I’ve noticed, and trends I’m loving. The jumping off point for me was the new Nouveau Starlight Black Print and  Nouveau Mach Blue Black from Lululemon. When I went exploring for other Japenese florals I found that Sweaty Betty had some fantastic options. I’m considering ordering the Contour Lux 7/8 Tights.  Do you like this trend? Florals can be very polarizing but I’ve always loved them despite the fact that I shy away from wearing them on my bottom half. I love that the Lululemon nouveau prints are very subtle, and in the case of the mach blue it’s even more subtle because it’s tone on tone. It’s definitely a very wearable floral print

Sneak Peek: Australia Upload

by Cristina September 11, 2017
written by Cristina

The Lululemon Australia upload is up! The big excitement in this upload is The In Movement Tights. The In Movement Tights have been spotted in some stores already (Robson St.), and have been given to educators to wear. The eds at my store were all wearing these on Friday and they looked amazing so I’m definitely interested! They are made of a new material called Everlux which we’ve seen released a few months ago in the In Movement Short. Sort of a hybrid nulu + luxtreme + nulux

I saw this print earlier this month in the Wunder Under Crops. The print is a knit and incredibly soft and stretchy. I don’t typically like knits but I really liked this one.

Guest Fit Review: SE Scallop WUC, Extra Mile Long Sleeve, Reveal 7/8 Tight, Fresh In Mesh Tight

by Cristina September 10, 2017
written by Cristina

Mrs. O has some great fit reviews up for us today! Thanks Mrs. O!! I’m hoping to have a fit review up for you guys soon of the Violet Swiftly Tech SS (must have!), and Long Sleeve, as well as the Box It Out Joggers and Press Pause Jogger.

Wunder Under Crop II (Special Edition) *Scallop Wee Are From Space, Night TideWunder Under Tight SE Wee Are From Space Wunder Under Tight SE Night Tide SW II WU

Wunder Under Crop Special Edition Scallop Wee Are From Space  and Night Tide

I was very interested in the special edition WU 7/8 tights.  These fit like a true 7/8 tight on me.  Generally, 7/8 tights tend to be full length on me but I’ve noticed lately the pant legs are a bit shorter than they were.  For those long legged ladies, this might become a problem for you.  But for us short legged ladies, it’s a welcome surprise.  I liked the contrasting details in the wee are from space print but I know that I will not grab them as often as the night tide color.  Surprisingly, the wee are from space was more opaque than the night tide.  It could be that the pattern hid any sheerness better than the solid color.  (But I can’t comment if a color of undies other than nude would show through.  It could possibly show through like any other light colored tight.)  I would give the wee are from space a 9.5/10 in opaqueness and the night tide a 9/10 in opaqueness.  As many of you know, I’m really sensitive about sheerness.  The ed asked me if everything was ok because she could see that my head was down because I was doing the bend test and trying to look through my legs.  LOL.  She said she could see the outline of my undies a tad but she did not think it was sheer, i.e., no skin showing through.  Sizing up in the night tide had the same effect so I stuck with my TTS.  I took home the night tide pair.

Extra Mile Long Sleeve

Extra Mile Long Sleeve

I had to try on the Extra Mile LS because I love rulu fabric.  What I loved about this LS was the details: the pleats in the shoulders, the ruffles at the cuffs, the zippered pockets and the rounded hem.  Heathered Utilitarian is very close to dark olive as you can see.  Side by side it was the same green color with black mixed in but different than the heathering in swiftlies.  The heathering was very similar to what LLL does with Vinyasa Scarves.  Because it looked to be a slim fit, I grabbed the size 4 and 6.  I generally wear a 6 in Swiftlies, which is a size up.  When I tried on the 6, it was too loose.  A different kind of loose than the swiftlies.  The shoulders didn’t fit right and it bunched too much around the torso.  I definitely liked the fit of the 4.  I wanted to give you an accurate description on sizing since many of you don’t live near a store.  In tighter tops, especially a long sleeve (like swiftlies and defines), I wear a size 6.  I was always in between sizes in those types of items.  I have lost a few pounds so I’m starting to be less in between than I used to be.  Swiftlies and defines are looser now for me.  I’m not quite in a 4 in those items because I tend to like those items with a little room but no one would say it was too tight if I wore my TTS.  So, long story short, if you are in between sizes, size up.  This is definitely a slim fitting LS (because it’s a run LS).  But know that a size up will be looser than a size up in swiftlies.  For me, this LS was TTS.  I noticed in my pictures that this LS buckled a bit at the hem.  I think it’s just this particular shirt.  I didn’t notice it in the size up.  I bought it intending to switch it out at another store.  When I pulled it down straight, the buckling went away.  I couldn’t keep it down and try to take a picture at the same time.  If it was priced slightly lower, I probably would have gotten the black one as well.

I need your help.  I can’t decide if I should get the 7/8 F&F or the Crop F&F in dark olive.  I tend to favor crops but this time I feel like the 7/8 length might be more versatile.  What do you guys think?

Reveal 7/8 TightReveal 7/8 Tight Reveal 7/8 Tight Reveal 7/8 Tight

Reveal 7/8 Tight

I tried these on because I liked the ventilation pattern.  But when I felt the fabric it was the type of fabric I know is sheer on me.  I was really interested in the pattern placement.  This tight is TTS.  But it was definitely sheer on me (7/10, which is too uncomfortable for me).  I’ve tried on other tights with this similar fabric (in other brands as well) and I have the same problem.  Sizing up doesn’t help either.  I think the way the fabric is knit causes the problem regarding opaqueness.  It’s supposed to be a naked sensation so it’s a lighter fabric.  I thought the ventilation pattern was nice.  It didn’t go too high up my thigh in front or on the side.

Fresh In Mesh TightFresh In Mesh Tight Fresh In Mesh Tight Fresh In Mesh Tight

Fresh In Mesh Tight

I was drawn to these tights because the mesh detailing on the lower calf reminded me of the inspire tights (one of my favorites).  I don’t like the redo of the inspire tight — the invigorate 7/8 tight.  I thought the tight was nicer than the crop because the crop doesn’t have mesh in the front — only along the side and back.  The back seam was really nice and flattering.  Unfortunately, the color of the tight was too dark to really see the effect of the back seam.  An ed was wearing them and it really flattered her figure and lifted her bum.  These tights are TTS and fully opaque.  I was torn between pelt and black.  But since I have a black pair of inspire tights, I got pelt in the fresh in mesh tight.  I really liked this tight and I hope it becomes a staple.  I will definitely purchase more if it comes in other colors.  I didn’t try on the crops but I will the next time I go into the store.  I don’t think I would mind the lack of mesh in the front.  It would just be plain from the front.  The back seam detailing and along the side of the legs is enough to sell me on the crop style.

written by Cristina

So far I’ve ordered these joggers from last weeks upload which seems to be online only for now. I’ve been waiting impatiently for my store to get them so I could try them on after seeing them on a friend. Why didn’t Canada get the Extra Mile Long Sleeve or the Viola Swiftly Tech LS, or the White/Dark Cast? I would have purchased all those items. A couple of weeks ago I got the Dark Olive Fast & Free Tights, and now it’s available in crop form along with Aeon Fast & Free Crops so I was toying with returning the tights to get the crops, but I think I’m just going to stick with the tights. I’d absolutely get the crops in Aeon except that I have Pace Rival Crops in Black Grape, so I don’t need a second purple tight.

Did you order anything from this upload? I know some stores got an early product drop of some of these items so if you got to try something on, let us know how you liked it.
