Thanks again to Mrs. O for sharing her fit reviews! I have more reviews coming this week for you so make sure to check back. Also, if you’ve tried items on and don’t wish to do a published post fit review but would still like to share, feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.

Contour Jacket

I wasn’t planning on trying on the Contour Jacket even though I was drawn to it.  I also wasn’t sure if I liked the contrasting zippers.  Mainly, I was trying to avoid it so I wouldn’t spend anymore money.  But when I got to the store, it was calling my name.  The moment I put it on, I knew it was coming home with me!  I only wish they offered it in more colors.  Nocturnal teal is hard to match but since I already purchased the Round Trip Jacket in pelt, I took home the teal color.  Pelt just looks better in the swift fabric because of the slight sheen to it.  I tried on my TTS and my Define size (6).  The biggest difference was the length of the jacket and sleeves between the 4 and 6.  But when I asked all the eds, they unanimously picked my TTS.  (BTW, they didn’t know what size I was trying on).  Because it is nulu, there’s a lot more give in the jacket than the define.  It wasn’t as slim as I thought it would be.  If you are in between sizes, I would size up.  It just depends on how in between you are.  If you’re closer to the smaller size and you think you might get smaller, then get the smaller size.  If you are consistently in between, then size up.  Either way, because of the cut of the jacket, a size up will not look too big.  This jacket was so slimming and flattering.  The nulu was luxurious.  A lot of you will like the longer length.  Although you can’t see it so well in the pictures because the color was so dark, the jacket covered my bum and came to the bottom of my hip bones.  Because the fabric is so forgiving, you can adjust it down or up depending on your preference.  The length was great for me because I have a longer torso.  I love this jacket and I know the tags will come off soon.  I’ll just hold out for a bit to see if it comes in another fall color.

Fit Review: Onzie Ritz Crop Midnight Anemoni

by Cristina August 23, 2017
written by Cristina

Last week I had a chance to head over to Nordstrom without kids, and with time to try on several items in the activewear department, including these Onzie Ritz Crop Midnight Anemone. I was really excited because when Nordstrom first came to Vancouver they had a huge selection of  brands, but then suddenly all that variety disappeared and they where only featuring Zella and a tiny bit of Nike and Adidas. I like those brands a lot but what I really loved about the Nordstrom Vancouver activewear department was that it was really a boutique shop experience with a huge variety of brands I could discover that I couldn’t try on anywhere else. This was a big draw for me even though it’s a 45 minute drive and parking expense, but worth it for all those brands curated in one location. I’m glad that whoever they have that is doing the buying has gone back to pulling in variety of fashion forward athletic wear brands because the big draw for me to come in for this particular shopping trip where these Onzie crops in this gorgeous floral print.

I LOVE floral prints. I know they aren’t ideal for a fuller pear shape like myself but I just really love them. My favourite print from Lululemon is probably the Secret Garden rose print on teal background and I always regret not getting the Inspire Crops in that print. During the Nordstrom Anniversary sale these caught my eye from a distance several times, but I didn’t have a chance to try them on until recently. The Onzie Ritz Crop Midnight Anemone have a really pretty black velvet detail at the hem that just make these so extra, and so luxurious. The sizing is XS/S, or M/L and I was afraid that the M/L would be more like a size 6/8 but actually I would say it was more of an 8/10 which works for me. I love that it’s a higher rise and the material is really lightweight and breathable. My one nit with them where that although they seemed to pass the squat test for opacity, when I pushed my thumb through the waist you can see how stretched out the print gets and I suspect that in natural light these pants would be sheer in a deep squat. I didn’t see a big variety in print placement but I do think you need to try these on to make sure you don’t have an unfortunately placed blooming flower.

Ultimately I did not end up getting these because I was slightly afraid of the statement print, and considering getting them in the black colorway and just enjoying the pretty velvet trim detail but I do regret not purchasing these. I’m going to have to wait on these because I’ve been pretty spendy lately but I am lusting hard, and will probably purchase them next month if they are still around. Actually, I will make it my goal to purchase these once I’ve gotten rid of my extra summer fluff.

The Lululemon Upload

by Cristina August 22, 2017
written by Cristina

This was a pretty small upload, and once again Lululemon has plumped it up a bit with some old designs from last year and the year before. You may recognize the Noir Pant as old. Last week was the Sunshine Coast LS and the First Mile Jacket amongst other things. One thing to look out for this week is restocks. Lululemon has restocked a TON of stuff throughout the website. these Wunder Under Crop Roll Downs in Diamond Jacquard Magenta caught my eye – I have them from a few years ago and love them. I’ll post a lookbook at the bottom of this post of restocks I’ve noticed. Let me know if you spot something juicy that I’ve missed.  For today’s new products though, I know the Dark Olive Fast & Free Tights are getting snatched up. People have been WAITING for those. I also like the Like The Windshell in Pelt and would love to try it on in store along with the Throw Back Pant.

New pants have been spotted in store which look very familiar. They are a redux of the old Groove Pant which was an iconic Lululemon pant style. These new ones are called the ‘Throw Back Pant’.

I’m curious about this Capri Fast & Free Tight. I picked up the Swiftly SS in store the other day because in person the color is incredibly vibrant and lively. For some reason it doesn’t photograph true on the website but in person this color is stunning and probably the most electric blue color I’ve ever seen Lululemon do.

Guest Fit Review: Athleta Downtown Dress, Athleta Striped Maxi Dress

by Cristina August 17, 2017
written by Cristina

Mrs. O, my amazing shopping friend from afar has really provided some really great Athleta dress fit reviews. I actually really love the striped maxi dress in these pictures despite the fact that she’s not loving it. I think it needs to be hemmed a bit and sized down because it’s a bit too loose around the ribs. I do completely get what she’s saying with the stripes, and the pleats around the waist though. Although I love it in these photos I know those details are things that would bother me in person enough to not purchase, so I’m really glad she pointed them out. I would consider this one for steep markdown as a cheap and cheerful summer purchase if I was going on a beach vacation, especially since it’s modal (which is what gives the material it’s heavy feeling) but not something I’d pick up at full price.

PS. you may have noticed I’ve had some server issues. It would have been most noticeable to you in the comments since that is content you are creating (so you know what isn’t loading that should be loading), and if you’ve tried to access my site while it was down. On my end, some of the posts I had posted weren’t loading and visible to you for several hours.  I’ve worked with my host and we’ve upgraded the server so the issues should be cleared up fully within a few days. If not, please message me or comment and let me know. I’m away on vacation right now which is why I haven’t been super responsive but I have been working on the fix behind the scenes so hopefully you haven’t experienced the outages. Sorry about the hassle if you tried to leave comments and it wasn’t showing the full threads.

Athleta Downtown Dress Athleta Downtown Dress

Athleta Downtown Dress

I always like it when LLL offers dresses, most of which I find flattering.  I thought some of you ladies would like to see a fit review of some of Athleta’s dresses.  I tried on 2 dresses.  This one is a knee length fitted dress with an asymmetrical hem and side ruching.  I always like ruching because it hides flaws and a not so flat stomach.  This dress was TTS.  If you’re in between sizes, I think it would be fine to size down.  I think it will stretch over time.  Sizing up would create more ruching though.  So, it really comes down to what you prefer.  The fabric was soft but a little thin.  Because of the ruching, the fact that the fabric was thin didn’t bother me so much.  I also think a regular bra would make the dress a lot more flattering.  This would be a nice dress for dinner with the girls.  (There’s enough give in the dress that you could splurge with the girls and not feel restrained.  Haha!)  Because the fabric is lightweight it would be cool for the hot summer days.  I’m not sure I would wear it in the afternoon because it is black and because I prefer color during the day.  It’s casual enough for day and can be dressed up for night.  I know lots of you ladies like black/gray dresses because it is slimming.  Who doesn’t want to look slimmer, right?
I’m a little undecided on the price point.  While I may spend more on a LLL dress or another brand, I’m not so sure I would spend $89 on this particular dress.  I have similar dresses from designer brands that I find on sale that are less than or equal to the price, many of which the original price is upwards of $200.  (I love a good bargain!)  I tend to spend more on designer clothing.  I guess I don’t mind paying for the label.  Maybe if the price point was around $60, I’d feel better about it.  LOL, sometimes I find it strange what I’m willing to spend on certain items but not others.  It really just depends on what it is.  I’m hoping I’m not the only one like that . . .

Athleta Striped Maxi Dress

I think everyone can agree that this dress is a bit overwhelming on me.  This was my TTS but I wonder if it would have fit better in a size down.  Also, it was definitely too long for me.  I didn’t like the way the stripes matched up around the waist.  I think the waist seam hit me at an awkward spot.  If it were a true empire waist or if the waist hem was lower, it would have been more flattering.  I also think there was too much fabric in the skirt.  On my body type, it just widened me — the stripes and gathering.  Actually, it might have been a nice dress if it wasn’t a gathered skirt.  The dress was also heavy because of the amount of fabric needed for the dress.  I could feel the pull of the dress on my shoulders because of it’s weight.  Not so much that it would bother me throughout the day.  But after having tried on the knee length dress, the weight caught me off guard a bit.  Maybe if I were taller it would have looked better on me.  I also think it was priced too high for the type of maxi dress it was.  You could definitely find another dress of similar quality for less.

The Lululemon Upload is up!

Wow! I don’t think I’ve ever seen an upload with so many products recycled from the previous year – no this isn’t same design but new colors and prints, this is the exact same exact products; First Mile Jacket, Sunshine Coast Long Sleeve, Spray Jacquard Cool Racerback II and Spray Jacquard Define Jacket, Speed Up Crop, Wild Tank. As much as I love some of these pieces, the first fall product drop is typically huge with new designs and colors – and we see several jacket designs and bags for back to school. If they are going to open the vaults for past years products I wish they’d go back a few more years.

What interested me in this upload where the Pelt Fast & Free Crop II‘s. I was hoping we’d see the F&F in pelt. I also like the look of the new Contour Jacket. I was hoping we’d see the Olive Down For It Jacket that Australia got yesterday.

Did you order anything today? Try any items on in store you’d care to share with us?

Here is last weeks upload August 8 Lululemon Upload.

Guest Fit Review: Athleta Stealth Trucool 7/8 Tight, Yogini Tank, Mosaic Ready Set Go Short

by Cristina August 12, 2017
written by Cristina

More awesome Athleta fit reviews thanks to Mrs. O! Mrs. O sent me a whole bunch of fit reviews over this week, and I did a bunch at Nordstrom Activewear and I’ll be posting them all soon. If you’d like to share some fit reviews yourselves please feel welcome to email them to me (contact info in the nav bar above)!

Athleta Stealth Trucool 7/8 Tight

This tight is made from Athleta technology called Sculptek X and is supposed to mold to you and keep you cool.  There are laser perforations on the front and back of the tight.  As for the “molding” claim I’m not sure how much different it is from other fabric used in tights.  It definitely felt lighter and cooler than the other tights I tried on.  I did not have difficulty pulling on these tights.  Actually, I didn’t have much difficulty pulling on any of the Athleta tights I tried on, including their compression tights, (like I sometimes do with LLL tights but once I get the LLL tights on it feels fine).  I think the Athleta’s sizing is a bit more generous than LLL’s sizing.  I find the entire GAP line of apparel stores (Old Navy, GAP, Banana Republic and Athleta) is generous in sizing.   Although I didn’t like the design of these tights, the fabric was interesting.  I’d be curious to check out another pair of tights with the same material.  I’d like to find out how the fabric would fair in a spin class.  These tights were TTS, were comfortable and felt less hot than the other tights I tried on.  Also, these 7/8 tights ended up being full length tights on me.

Athleta Yogini TankAthleta Yogini Tank Athleta Yogini Tank

Athleta Yogini Tank

This is the Yogini Tank.  (I forgot to take a picture of the tag).  This is a blended fabric, which is very soft.  I liked the longer curved hem of the back of the tank.  It definitely covered the bum.  I also like the criss-cross at the top of the racerback and the cut out.  The only thing I didn’t like was the curve of the front hem.  I think if the curve were a bit wider and less pointy, I would have liked it much better.  When I checked online for the name of the tank, I noticed that some colors were on sale.  The sale price is hard to beat.  But I don’t know if I could wear it because it would bother me to look at myself in front of a mirror during classes.  All I’d see the front hem curve.  LOL.  Yes, I am that picky about things like that.  I tell my hubby, when things are off, it hurts my eyes!  LOL.
BTW, I’m wearing the mauve colored mesh shine salutation tights.  I definitely like this color better than the navy.  Unfortunately, they didn’t have my size at the store so I couldn’t make my first Athleta purchase.  I have to order it online, which makes me wonder if I would actually pull the trigger.  I’m really trying hard to keep an open mind.  I may just wait to see if it goes on sale first and leave it in my shopping cart.  Has anyone else tried these tights?
Athleta Mosaic Ready Set Go Short
Athleta Mosaic Ready Set Go Short Tag
Athleta Mosaic Ready Set Go Short Tag Athleta Mosaic Ready Set Go Short Tag

Mosaic Ready Set Go Short

This is one style of Athleta run shorts that happened to be hanging near the dressing room so I grabbed it to try.  These shorts were TTS (size xs).  Unlike LLL shorts, which I have to size up, I did not have to size up in Athleta.  So, one thing I noticed, Athleta is consistent with sizing across the board regardless of item type.  Although I haven’t tried on any of the baggier Athleta items so I don’t know if those things would be a size down item.  Having worn LLL for so long, I can look at an item and know what size to get.  I’m still learning with Athleta and other brands.
These shorts are made from recycled polyester and was very lightweight.  It has a 4 inch inseam for those ladies that like longer shorts.  I didn’t notice any shorter 2.5 inch inseams at the store.  Looking on the website, I think Athleta shorts are generally longer.  These shorts had a mid rise with a pocket in the waistband and 2 mesh pockets on the side.  It was a comfortable fit but I’m not sure if I liked the pattern.  I grabbed it because it was colorful.  When I’m running and walking, I tend to gravitate towards shorter shorts.  I choose my longer shorts for going around town.  I don’t think I’d wear this style of short for going around town.  The liner was thin and did not cause VPL (a very good thing).  If you have a bigger bum and thighs, it will fit a bit snugger.  But not so snug that it’s uncomfortable or you’d have to size up.  The sales clerk told me that over time all Athleta items stretch.  So, definitely keep that in mind if you are in between sizes.  They hardly ever recommend sizing up unless you picked something that is definitely too small for you.
