Sephora Sale!

by Cristina August 23, 2018
written by Cristina

The Sephora Sale is here (at midnight tonight)! If you are a Sephora cardholder with Rouge status you now have early access to the sale before the VIB & Insider Access which starts on August 30th. Sale ends September 3rd.  Rouge members get 20% off, VIB get 15% off and Insider Access gets you 10% off. You get a ONE TIME USE code to shop online with the code YESROUGE, or you can present your card or email in store for unlimited use.

Sephora Sale 2018

Because I’m covering the sale on the blog, I like to look at both the US and Canadian site and I have to say I’m super jealous that the US gets not only awesome sunscreens which Canada is severely restricted on importing, but you also get a wellness category with beauty supplements. I love that Sephora now sells Moon Juice which I’ve reviewed before and use daily, and Vital Proteins Collagen which I also use daily. These are items I’d love to be able to stock up on for 20% off.

What are you guys shopping for at the Sephora Sale?

Lululemon 20 Year Anniversary Product Drop + High Shine Foil + More

by Cristina August 22, 2018
written by Cristina

There has been a lot of disappointment about the Lululemon 20 Year Anniversary Product Drop and although I like the embossed manifesto tights enough, I wonder why Lululemon didn’t create something truly stunning and special like their Rainbow Reflective Seawheeze tights which sell for $800 on the grey market. Lululemon has re-released the Rainbow Reflective Tights twice in Australia since last summer. They’ve obviously been able to produce a high volume of those (and at regular price points) and know fans are crazy about them so I’m not sure why they are keeping it so scarce and feeding the grey market instead of their own margins, especially for such a special event like the 20 year anniversary. Check the last upload post to see the comments about the 20 Year Anniversary Capsule.

Have you tried on any of the 20 Year Anniversary Capsule Items in store?

The Upload! Lululemon Product Drops

by Cristina August 21, 2018
written by Cristina

The Lululemon Product Drops is live!

Huge Lululemon Product Drop today, but still no Tuck & Flow LS. Why? The new 20Y Manifesto items are cute but I was more interested in Camo and Tuck & Flows. Today I purchased the Camo On The Fly Pants to try out. They will either be terrible or awesome, I’m not sure. Lululemon had a similar style pant out a few years ago that briefly came out in a black camo pattern and I really regretted not purchasing it after seeing it styled. I also ordered the camo scuba but not sure I will keep.

*By the way, guys, the Sephora VIB sale is this Friday, August 24th and I’ll have coverage of it as it goes live. 20% off for Rouge members, and 15% off for VIB members. This year is exciting because Sephora is now carrying a bunch of new brands including Charlotte Tilbury (my fav! Not sure if it will be released for the sale), MAC, Kiels and much more.

As far as the random size 14 scuba items, does this not bother anyone else? They put a tiny amount of size 14 items out in minuscule quantities (usually showing no stock) for the past year so they are able to market themselves as ‘size inclusive’ against other activewear brands, yet they haven’t committed to a full product assortment or size run. One item in a size 14 which is ‘out of stock’ right away is not size inclusive. I’ll be happy when they actually decide to commit to being size inclusive rather than just leveraging one size 14 scuba hoodie. Full product lineup in size 2, and size 14 please.

Lululemon 20 Year Anniversary

Lululemon 20 Year Anniversary Special Edition Product

The Lululemon 20 Year Anniversary Special Edition items coming for tomorrows upload have just been revealed! Many of you have been asking about the 20 year anniversary which is on August 23, and whether or not we’d see anything special. All stores have been given a budget to have a celebration party and they’ve also recreated the iconic Lululemon Manifesto on some new shoppers. They’ve also created a special edition energy bra and wunder under in both red and black with the embossed manifesto. There are rumors about a new logo but I find it hard to believe that Lululemon would let go of such an iconic logo. It would be like apple using a different logo!

It’s so crazy to me that Lululemon first hit the streets in 1998. I was graduating from high school in 1998! I still remember the battle between the Aritzia TNA sweat pant and matching hoodie vs. the Lululemon tights and remix hoodie. This was also during the Juicy Couture matching velour sweat suit faze. In Vancouver, you were either a Lululemon girl or a TNA girl in 1998.

It’s even crazier to me that I’ve been blogging about Lululemon for just about 10 years now.  I started this blog at some time during a delirious 3 am feed of my newborn baby daughter. Hence my original blog title ‘Lulumum’.

Hey, It’s 3 am and I’m aimlessly googling product reviews about Lululemon and stocking random uploads of the Remix Hoodie Lux – why don’t I try doing a blog since I’ve now got 24 hours a day of wakeful time stuck under a newborn.

Lulumum

And the rest is history because I completely fell in love with blogging and I’ve enjoyed every second of evolving this blog into what it is today.

Store photos of the new Lululemon Product Drop from this weeks upload! I’m really loving the Melodic Movement 7/8 Tights. The ankle detailing on it is just perfect, and since they are NULU they are like an elevated version of the Align Pant. Did any of you order these on Tuesday and have received them? The Hooded Define Jacket in Black Satin is new and hasn’t been uploaded yet.

The Best Cute Gym Bags

by Cristina August 16, 2018
written by Cristina

Time for a new cute gym bag? It’s been such a long time since Lululemon has made a great, printed gym bag. Over the past two years, they’ve made some nice, decent and functional gym bags but they just haven’t been fantastic like their pre-2016 bags which were really the Cadillac of gym bags in both style and function. I reviewed this cute gym bag a few months ago because I loved the color but I didn’t end up keeping it because of the issues I mention in the post.  The All Day Duffel is cute but it’s missing some of the design details I love.

Kate Spade is having a 75% off Sale right now!

This next one is not a gym bag, but I’m in love with it anyway. I am in love with this color. I have been known to use my Louis Vuitton Neverfull as a gym bag so this isn’t out of place for me in a gym bag window shop

If you are in dire need of a handbag purchase and are looking at great quality leather bags, I’d take advantage of this sale right now. I know that right when I need to replace a broken handbag, I am on a strict budget and the prices always seem to be way too high. These prices are fantastic though! The black bag in the gallery below looks a lot like the Givenchy Antigona bag.

I heard about MZ Wallace a few years ago when it got very popular on the Lululemon Facebook groups. At the time, the Paige Crossbody Bag was extremely popular as was the quilted tote bag for travel. I never considered looking at them for gym bags though and for some reason today I was inspired to look for a pretty camo bag and I found these. I love that MZ Wallace has a ton of different bag styles for fitness and that each bag comes in a ton of color options. I’m partial to the camo but I also love the metallic backpack, and the black.

The Upload Intro

The Lululemon Upload is live! Where on earth are all the camouflage items we’ve been waiting for? The Scuba Hoodie, the jacket. Where are the Tuck & Flow LS? I am eying up the Pack It Up Jacket in the stunning floral print. I love that it reads like splatter print from afar (which is a theme I love) but up close it’s floral. The metallic foil Moment To Movement Tight is pretty wild. Are any of you getting those tights? They are online only so I’m sure we’d all love to know your thoughts.

Mother Denim Review

by Cristina August 13, 2018
written by Cristina

I love jeans more than any other type of clothing purchase and this year I went ham and purchased a bunch of different brands and styles that I haven’t tried before and I’m going to review them all for you once I’ve worn them. The first pair that I detagged is the Mother Denim Jeans that a reader recommended to me. I’ve been wearing them for two weeks now and really love them.

Mother Denim, The Looker Frayed Ankle Skinny Jean, Thunderstruck Racer

When this brand was first recommended to me, I added it to my ‘must try’ list but didn’t really seek them out in store. These jeans jumped right out at me from the rack. The combination of the sweatshirt material racing stripe in the soft blush pink and the really great mid-tone blue in this incredibly soft fabric made me snatch them up for a try-on.

The store only had my size down in these which were way too snug but I was at least able to try them on for fit to determine if the cut worked for me and I later found my regular size online. It’s so hard to find jeans that fit me well because not only am I curvy-petite, but I have a long hip, long torso ratio and short legs so I need a higher mid rise and plenty of room in the rear. If the rear rise is too short by even an inch, I’m constantly tugging my jeans up. These have a higher rise in the back than at the front. These are TTS and have a bit of stretch but although I could fit the size down and zip up, it created unpleasant creases in the back of my thighs.

The Details

The material is very high-quality denim made in the US, and it’s cut on the bias which is a great feature on designer denim. Bias cut denim is more expensive to produce but creates a better fit overall, and better wear. The denim blend is 92% cotton, 6% polyester and 2% elastane. The polyester is added to provide awesome dye and colorfastness, and the elastane provides stretch.

They are a 28 1/2 inch inseam so for those of you that are tall, these will be crops on you and that is how they are meant to look. I can wear them full length, or fold the cuffs slightly and because it’s a raw edge I get a really nice fold.

Having worn these for two weeks now on repeat I can safely say these are a very worthy splurge and a new favorite for me. I especially recommend these if you have large quads and glutes but a small waist and struggle to find jeans that fit well. These are squat worthy jeans!

Mother Denim The Looker Frayed Ankle Skinny, Thunderstruck Racer

I love the waistband detailing on these and how it’s sewn with hidden seams all the way around. It really gives the jean a casual look overall and provides a smooth waistband under shirts. The racing stripe is also really cool because the stripe closest to the back is wider than the front stripe, and it’s a really visually slimming effect. The material used to create the stripe is a knit like sweatshirt material, but it’s actually a much tougher fabric so although it looks like sweatshirt, it’s more durable.

#Trend Report: Bike Shorts

by Cristina August 10, 2018
written by Cristina

My last post on Fitspo Bloggers I love was so much fun to write, and I really enjoyed sharing a theme I follow on Instagram with you guys. You guys really liked it too so I actually came up with several more Instagram inspired posts and I can’t wait to share them all. First up is the Bike Short Trend.

The Bike Short Trend! This was a funny one that started with the young celebrities last year, then it was Kim K with her Yeezy bike shorts and tube socks mirroring the Princess Di look from the late 90’s, and finally this year it’s really starting to trickle down into the big Influencers which means it will trickle down to the medium and small influencers officially making it mainstream. It’s a thing guys, and good thing we’ve been wearing bike shorts non ironically all along to actually cycle in. Well, I’ve been using them as chafe protection under my dresses.  Now we can be inspired to break our Train Times Shorts out into streetwear by pairing them with a crisp white button-down shirt, and Balenciaga Sneakers.

I started off really hating this trend and thinking it was totally dated and absurd, but actually, I’m starting to like it a little bit. What do you guys think? The Balenciaga sneakers and white shirt are a no for me, but maybe I’d wear bike shorts with an oversized chunky knit sweater (like this one I just got recently) and some espadrille flats or fuzzy slides for a sort of beachy late summer look.

Dressing Room Try-On: Lululemon Laser Speed Jacket

Laser Speed Jacket

I popped into a Lululemon today on my way to an appointment and they happened to have the Laser Speed Jacket in, but only in this color and a very limited size run. I was only able to try on my TTS which I knew would be too small based on Ms. K’s try-ons last week where she recommended sizing up. She had told me that she needed a size up in it and that it ran really tight around the hips/waist area. This surprised me since Ms. K is not pear-shaped or hourglassed like me. I often have sizing issues in the hip area with narrower fitting jackets like these.

I’m probably closer to a size 12 these days in jackets (this is a 10) so I think this is fitting me tighter than what Ms. K’s TTS fit like.

I otherwise liked the style of this jacket a lot, and really liked the color. I’m torn on whether I prefer this color over the purple. The swift material has a very subtle pretty crepe look to it, and it’s got some pretty ribbon detailing at the hem and at the cuffs with the repeating Lululemon logo on it. This is a thin, lightweight run jacket so don’t expect it to provide warmth or protection from the elements. Consider this a light windbreaker style jacket. Considering this jacket for purchase at a later date, possibly on markdown.
