I haven’t done Lululemon Gym Bag Reviews in ages!! It’s been a long time since I’ve purchased a new Lululemon gym bag and this one just really intrigued me because of the beautiful color. As I’ve lamented many times, Lululemon used to make the most stunningly beautiful and functional gym bags in every design and print possible. I’ll link a few below that I love. The bags from the past two years are good too, they just aren’t as luxurious as the older styles.
This first photo is supposed to be a video showing you the zipper smoothness. Hopefully, it works.
First off, the color is just stunning. I definitely want to get the Festival Bag in this color if it gets released in North America. I have a few Must Haves on my gym bags since I use them a lot as travel carry on bags. I guess one could have a specific travel carry on bag and also a gym specific bag, but I like my things to be multifunctional. I need to have a padded laptop pocket, which this does, and I need to have a crossbody strap option. The zipper at the top is great because it allows some security while traveling, but I kind of hate the way the zipper is just plonked on top and not integrated into the design. This leaves big gap openings on either side of the bag. An integrated zipper is a much more elegant style. The inside has a large zipper pocket and a smaller zipper pocket on the laptop sleeve. There is also a mesh compartment specifically for your water bottle, and a removable shoe (or laundry) pouch. The outside of the bag has a single narrow zip pocket in the front. I think this is a really nice size bag for both travel and also the gym. This will easily fit my Olympic Weightlifting Shoes and my sneakers, as well as my jump rope, wrist wraps, straps and water bottle and a change of clothes. The dimensions are: 40cm x 16cm x 30cm (16″ x 8.5″ x 12″) and the volume is 23L. The laptop pocket fits up to a 15″ computer. I wish they used a lbs for the weight of the bag (as in, guarnateed to xxlbs) like they used to vs. providing volume measurement.
One thing I don’t love about this bag, which coincides with the zipper issue, is the trapezoid shape from the sides. This shape makes the top opening pretty narrow which creates a bit of tension in the zipper. My zipper opens fine with only slight stickiness where the zipper wants to curve and buckle. The opening needs to be larger and more structure so that the zipper can remain straight and open more smoothly. A reader in The Sweat Edit facebook group asked if anybody else was having zipper issues on their Everywhere Bag which is why I included a video clip with this post. I also wish the crossbody strap was either longer or adjustable. It’s pretty short for a bag this size. While the bag is empty it’s very easy to wear this crossbody, but as you begin to fill it and take up space horizontally, the strap becomes a really awkward length.
Overall I like this bag and I’m considering keeping it. It’s been a long time since a Lululemon gym bag has caught my eye. It’s not without a few faults, but I don’t think they are deal breakers for me and I think it’s a nice multi-purpose bag.
