Lululemon All Town Buttondown

by Cristina June 29, 2018
written by Cristina

So much confusion about the Lululemon All Town Buttondown this week! I’ve had so many questions about it popping up on the upload (for What’s New Women’s), and then almost immediately selling out (or being taken down?). Now the stores are starting to post pictures of the web image with the blurb ‘His & Hers, the All Town Buttondown makes the perfect shirt for him, and the perfect boyfriend fit for her.’ I am almost certain that the shirt in the men’s line is the same as the women’s given that they describe it as ‘boyfriend fit’, and they are sized small, medium and large. Either that or, Lululemon quickly sold out of the women’s shirt and now are marketing the men’s shirt since it was such a hit. If you want to see a readers fit review of the shirt (it looks awesome!), join The Sweat Edit facebook group.

What do you guys think? Unisex or two different shirts? Have any of you tried it on in store? Any Lulu Eds wanna weigh in and let us know if it’s the same shirt being remarketed? Cool if yes, but I think it would drive more sales if people knew it was still available for sale on the men’s side.

PS. This shirt would make a fantastic addition to the Classic Style Wardrobe Staples list. If you want to invest in ‘the best of the best’ by a brand known for impeccably tailored, minimalist white shirts, this one is the one to go with.

Classic Style Wardrobe Staples

by Cristina June 28, 2018
written by Cristina

The upcoming  Nordstrom Anniversary Sale provided the perfect inspiration for a guide on how to focus your wishlist during a large, overwhelmingly awesome sale. Classic Style Wardrobe Staples! It’s so easy to go crazy during sales and buy things because they are priced very temptingly, but if those items don’t get a lot of use in your wardrobe, fall apart on you, or don’t integrate well then really it’s a waste of money even at the sale price. It’s totally fun to purchase those frivolous or trendy items now and then, but if you are trying to edit a list and get the best true value and really shop strategically, this is the way to go. This sale strategy works for me for any sale really, whether it’s a warehouse sale, a flash sale or a yearly sale. I always keep in mind what item from this list I don’t have and I prioritize those purchases, then if budget allows I make room for other things.

Be sure to read post The Complete Bra Wardrobe for more elements of style content.

The Classic Style Wardrobe

Classic Style Wardrobe Staples are items that are timeless. They are iconic pieces that have stood the test of time, and never look dated. They become the building blocks to your wardrobe.  Think of these items as an elegant blank canvas that you can add to with more vibrant, personality-filled pieces, or trendy items. Classic style staples also don’t have to mean dressy or formal. As you can see from my photo below, I’ve incorporated my style staples in a very casual way. Tailoring makes the difference between a casual outfit and a dressy outfit. Think of pairing a camel wool coat with a pair of black Lululemon tights, an Adidas sweatshirt, or a plain white button-down shirt with a pair of black shorts. You can inject personality by adding a pair of unexpected trendy metallic mules. The classic pieces are the ones you never have to even think about, they just work!

[shopr_shopthepost collection=”classic-style” size=”large”]

Classics With A Twist

Once you’ve edited your list of classic style pieces, you can start adding ‘classics with a twist’. Those are the classic items that have interesting details like a ruffled sleeve, or an oversize shape. I love exploring style within parameters. It’s like forcing yourself to write a story by picking a topic out of a hat. It helps you practice the basic skills, and it helps jog your creativity. It also makes you look competent at fashion.

Quality Pieces

Another thing to consider when shopping sales, particularly when you are focusing on investing in classics is material and quality. Quality and material is so important with your classic pieces because they need to last year after year, and they need to be worn often. Favor natural materials like cotton, silk, wool, cashmere over polyester, nylon or rayon. Look at the finishing details on an item – is it lined nicely? Does it have some nice tailoring features? Does it fit you well? Is the material durable? Sometimes good quality is very subtle to spot, but bad quality is very obvious. You don’t have to break the bank on quality but you should spend more on these items then you would the trendier pieces. For me, buying classic staples on sale is perfect because it lets me stretch into a price category that I normally wouldn’t. Buying this leather jacket was not possible at full price, but capturing it on sale was, and it’s been one of my favorite sale purchases from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale so far. I always recommend setting a budget and then spend that on the quality items instead of buying more cheaper trendier items. I’d much rather have one great piece that I wear a ton and for years then a bag full of things I have to replace every three months.

The Complete Bra Wardrobe: Bras You Need In Your Wardrobe

by Cristina June 23, 2018
written by Cristina

A few years ago now I did a post about being properly bra fitted. This was a really great experience and I highly recommend you at some point get fitted properly for your correct bra size. I went in thinking I was a 36 B with bra straps that were constantly slipping off my shoulders, to finding out I’m a 34DD. It’s important that you get fitted somewhere that has expert bra fitters like a small independent boutique store, or Nordstrom where they are trained on many brands. Alternatively, you can measure yourself using this guide. A proper bra fitter will also be able to tell you the ideal bra style you need for your breast shape. I would stay away from being fitted at a big box store that carries only their own brand and uses vanity or limited sizing. Ever since finding my correct bra size, and ideal style, I love wearing bras and really detest wearing my sports bras. I just don’t find my sports bras as comfortable as my bras.  As part 2 of my bra fitting post, I’ve come up with this guide of Bras You Need In Your Wardrobe. You won’t need these all at once, but over time you will probably want to accumulate different styles for different occasions. Here are my style picks:

The Bras You Need In Your Wardrobe

Bras You Need In Your Wardrobe

Chantelle Rive Gauche Tee Shirt Bra

Chantelle Tee Shirt Bra, Bras You Need In Your Wardrobe

The Tee Shirt Bra

Version 1 – The cute tee shirt bra with pretty details

My all-time favorite bra is this bra by Chantelle. This particular one at the top in multiple colors is an old season. Every year Chantelle does a new version of this bra with a demi cup and some lace detail. I got my last one at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale last year and I’m going to look out for more at this years Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I really love the lace detailing and the contrasting stitch on the straps. If I’m wearing a tee shirt or tank that will peep a tiny bit of bra, this is the one I grab for it’s details.

Wacoal Finesse Molded Underwire T-Shirt Bra

Version 2 – The utility tee shirt bra

This is another bra I love. I find this one the most comfortable and most supportive and the workhorse in my bra wardrobe. If I’m wearing a tee shirt that doesn’t show any part of the bra (no low scoop or deep v) then I will choose this one over the pretty detailed tee shirt bra. I find both styles of bras comfortable but this one is wider in the straps and a snugger fit. This is the bra you want if you are working a 12 hour day. I like the Wacoal brand a lot and if you are a larger bust size, you should check them out.

Chantelle Babylon Underwire Push-Up Bra

Push-Up Bra

This is bra you would pick when you are wearing a dressy blouse or dress with a low neckline and you want something a little sexy that gives you cleavage, yet is still comfortable. This is a comfortable enough bra, but not a 12 hour day at work bra. I found this bra on sale and had been eying it for a long long time. I really love the banded detailing across the bottom but when I first saw it, I didn’t think this was a style I needed. Turns out I definitely do. My breast shape doesn’t necessarily create a lot of cleavage despite being a DD, so when I wear something that calls for at least a bit of definition in that area, this is the bra I pick.

Natori Feathers Front-Close Racerback Bra Natori Feathers Front Close Bra

Racerback Bra

This is a bra that I don’t need to wear very often, and it’s not one of my favorites. I have friends that swear by this bra though and love it and collect them. It’s actually one of the yearly cult purchase for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Sometimes you need a racerback bra that you can wear with your Cool Racerbacks, or Racerback dresses that’s still bra shaped with molded cups and not a uniboob creating sports bra. For this reason, I like having this bra but I’ve really not worn my Cool Racerbacks casually in a long time.

Chantelle Intimates Opera Demi Bra

Underwire Bra With Lace Cups (Unmolded)

I had no idea that an unmolded bra could be supportive. Because I was always buying the wrong size bra, I just assumed I couldn’t properly fill a bra like this out. I ALWAYS looked for molded cups when bra shopping as I thought that was what I needed for shape.  Molded cups in a wrong sized bra that would sit on top of my breasts, with the bra straps falling off my shoulders and the bra lifting up at the bottom – what a great shape! It’s funny because my mom and aunts only ever wear unmolded lace bras like this one but I just thought it was because they had larger breasts than I did and they were lucky and got to wear pretty bras. Unmolded cups actually have really well-engineered seam details up the middle, and across the top that creates shape and support along with the gore in the center, and the band and underwire. You don’t need molded cups for shape and support at all! Once I found my correct size, I discovered that this bra is actually really perfect. I love wearing this bra when it’s very hot out in the summer. There is a big difference in how hot a padded or molded cup bra is with a lace unmolded bra. This is perfect for just about any outfit.

Wacoal Embrace Lace Wireless Bra

Wireless Lace Bra

I picked this bra up very recently at Winners (Like Marshall’s in the US).  A wireless lace bra is tricky if you have a larger cup size because they do not provide support in seam details, wire or banding. Typically it’s sized small, medium and large and doesn’t come in cup sizes but occasionally you can find ones like this one which has a bit of structure and cup sizes. This is very much a comfort bra. What I liked about this one is that it actually has some boning at the sides of the bust so that creates a bit of shape, but I still don’t love this bra for wearing out. This is strictly my at home bra when I want to wear something but remain comfortable. A door answering bra.

Wacoal Red Carpet Convertible Strapless Bra

The Strapless Bra

This is the bra you wear with dresses or blouses that have difficult necklines. This has become even more essential over the past few years with the cold shoulder and off the shoulder blouse trend.  If you have a strapless dress, a strappy dress, or a cold shoulder or off the shoulder blouse, you need to invest in a good strapless bra. Going braless is also an option if you feel comfortable with it but I don’t. For me it’s a combination of liking the support and lift, and having a dress fit a certain way. This strapless bra is really great because it actually comes with detachable straps that you can wear multiple ways, and it has a silicone grip along the cups so the cup stays in place. This brand also has strapless bras in a multitude of sizes. I found I had to size up in this one in cup size because for some reason, strapless bras cut my boob off in the armpit.

#Girltalk I Tried Sugaring Brazilian On My Bikini Area

by Cristina June 22, 2018
written by Cristina

I just tried Brazilian sugaring on my bikini area and here’s my experience with it, because I care about you and your bikini area deeply. I don’t think anyone else has written a review yet and summer is right around the corner so you should get in the pool and sugaring hair removal is the key!

Sugaring Hair Removal - sugaring Brazilian - Brazilian sugaring

I decided to take the plunge and get my bikini area sugared for the first time. I’ve never even had that area waxed before – I’ve shaved or used horrible Nair products and neither of them are good options, but I’ve tolerated them. Hello, chemical and razor burns!! I was reading about a nearby sugaring salon nearby that is fantastic. So many people have shared positive experiences online about this place that it made me want to give it a try. The wax used for sugaring is not a liquid like what you buy at the drugstore, it’s a ball of sugar paste made of melted sugar, lemon, water. The same ball is used for the duration of your hair removal and then tossed out once done. This also makes it very sanitary since there is no cross-contamination with another person’s piece of wax being reused between customers.

What really intrigued me when I started reading about sugaring is all the benefits. It reduces hair growth over time and remove it at a specific growth stage. About every 4 weeks in the anagan stage. It changes the quality of the hair regrowth and reduces ingrowns by exfoliating your skin.

Why is sugaring better than waxing?

The thing that makes sugaring different from waxing is that it pulls the hair out by the root (instead of snapping) and, it’s very gentle on the skin since it doesn’t cling, and it’s not used hot. You are still pulling out hair roots mind you, so it’s not exactly ‘comfortable’. You don’t however get the skin trauma and post-wax burns. I’ve had horrific experiences with waxing my eyebrows before so I am very careful.  My skin is so delicate that waxing my eyebrows has caused my skin to rip right off, and I also get bad bruising from the constant lifting of the skin. I even have some permanent redness on my upper lip from threading. Scabby eyebrows and a red upper lip area is not a cute look! Both soft and hard wax seems to stick to my skin in a way that the sugaring ball doesn’t.  Another huge bonus is that the regrowth takes a lot longer. I’m going on three weeks post sugaring and I’m just starting to get regrowth, and the hair coming in is very fine.

I wanted to share this experience with you guys because I spent most of my adult life starting from puberty in a hateful relationship with my ‘down there’ hair. I’m Mediterranean so I’m a hairy hairy beast and I have dark coarse hair.

I have been plagued by really bad ingrowns all of my adult life and I’ve really hated dealing with hair removal (even hair acceptance). I know, I’ve painted quite the picture for the online world. Trust me, if you’re not plagued by the Mediterranian curse (or you’ve been waxing since Sex And The City made the Brazilian  Wax popular) this will seem like such a silly thing to fret about and you’re probably telling me to ‘grow up and deal with that shit like a proper lady!’.

Just imagine running a few half marathons while dealing with this issue, and what a miserable experience that alone would be, OR, having to go on a swimming field trip and having major razor burn at 13.

My hair situation can be downright painful, embarrassing and prevents me from living my best life. It’s made me feel awkward and embarrassed about something I shouldn’t have been embarrassed about.

Believe me when I tell you that sugaring has been revolutionary for me and has helped in more ways than I anticipated. My skin is smoother and exfoliated, it surprisingly makes a big difference in temperature and perspiration, and I like being able to go swimming spontaneously. I really don’t have a preference for the aesthetics one way or another, but it has made working out much more comfortable. I just generally feel less sweaty in that region.

via GIPHY

The sugaring brazilian Appointment

I am a wuss when it comes to pain. Sometimes. I have a high pain tolerance but I also really go to great lengths to avoid pain.  Since this was my first time and I’ve read horror stories about first-time Brazilian wax pain, I decided to prepare for this appointment with some pain management.

Pre sugaring pain relief recomendations

I recommend taking Tylenol 20 minutes before your appointment. Apply a lidocaine lotion about an hour before. The lotion is called Emla and it’s used for kids getting IV’s or skin treatments like biopsies. Emla is a lidocaine cream that you smooth onto your skin about 30 minutes before, and cover your skin with the cream on it with an occlusive dressing (saran wrap worked perfect and stuck well), and then put your undies over it.  This Emla cream works a charm!

So how was the pain?

The lidocaine and Tylenol worked so well that I had no pain in some of the more painful areas to remove hair, except for one patch that I missed. It was a bit spicey!

Emla is expensive, but worth it to me. I suspect my next appointment would be less painful anyways because my hair is growing in very fine now and the roots are always most stubborn the first time, but I like to be kind to myself.  Another thing to do for pain prevention is not drinking caffeine before your appointment. Caffeine causes vasoconstriction and will make pain on your skin more intense.

Hair prep before sugaring hair removal

Before your appointment, you need to clip your hair down to 1/8 inch growth (or 7-10 days growth), or about the length of a grain of rice. Also, be freshly showered for your appointment. I like to take wipes with me too just so I feel confidently tidy (but that wasn’t necessary since the esthetician had two types of wipes available). The one drawback to sugaring is between sugaring appointments you need to let your hair grow out.

How is sugar waxing technically done?

The ‘positions’ you need to get into are actually not so bad. I’ve heard horror stories about that too but in my case, I was on my back the entire time and draped by a towel with only the areas being worked on exposed, section by section. I also thought the appointment would take an hour and that I’d be sitting there with hair being ripped out painfully, and my sole exposed for the world to see for a long duration of time, but the appointment was approximately 20 minutes long, and it was thorough. I don’t even think I can shave that fast.

Wax Wax GIF from Wax GIFs

The aesthetician was so lovely throughout it all and so professional. Her salon has a focus on body positivity and really caters to moms so not only does she have body positive messages and pictures throughout her salon, she’s making sure you are comfortable and relaxed the entire time. She explained every detail of the appointment to me and talked about aftercare and what to expect. Girl knew her stuff! She even texted me a few days later to see how I was healing and if I had any questions. If you are in Vancouver and want a recommendation, just message me!

After The sugaring waxing appointment

With waxing my eyebrows, I always experience intense redness and swelling that lasts for days and days. I didn’t have that with sugaring. I was definitely slightly tender (1 out of 10 on the discomfort scale), but didn’t need a pack of frozen peas or any more Tylenol, I did wear granny panties after just to avoid the friction.

Post sugaring treatment care

You should avoid hot showers, swimming, intimate activities and exercise for at least 24 hours. This is because your hair follicles are all open and if you introduce bacteria or heat from a hot shower, you are much more likely to get irritation or folliculitis.   You cannot exfoliate for 48 hours, but then you are supposed to exfoliate every other day until your next appointment in order to prevent ingrowns.

Exfoliate!

I have followed this advice and I have had smooth skin for the past three weeks with no signs of ingrown or rashes at all. I can’t tell you how happy I am about that.

Actually, the real test for me was the constant walking in New York. Typically, that is something that would 100% lead to ingrown hairs for me thanks to the friction of a 10-mile sweaty walk, but I was perfectly fine.

My hair is growing back now and absolutely the texture has changed. Even if I only ever did this once, it’s worth it just to have a more skin-friendly hair texture. I always read about marathon runners getting pedicures before their races but I really think that a good thorough bikini sugaring is the spa experience you should treat yourself to.

Between sugaring appointment skincare

These are my post care recommendations. You can use a small dry body brush to exfoliate the area, or a sugar or salt scrub. Because I was traveling I picked up something called ‘Tend Skin‘ which is a chemical exfoliator. Basically, Tend Skin is liquid aspirin with a really good delivery system. I’m a huge fan of it. I exfoliate with a small dry brush, and then post shower I swipe on tend skin.

Ingrown hair prevention

The next essential step to ingrown prevention is to moisturize. Dry skin clogs pores so you really need to keep your skin well moisturized, especially after exfoliating. Now that I’m home from the trip I’m using a sugar scrub and alternating with the tend skin used less frequently.  This one is good, and so is this one. The Tend Skin can be drying and as I said, you need moisturized skin. Use a body oil like Nuxe or the Herbivore one.

Post Hair Removal Care Products To Try
[show_lookbook_widget id=”394525″]

Will I Go Back?

A resounding yes. I intend to do the recommended three appointments every 4 weeks during the summer, and then I’ll probably just maintain this periodically. Like I mentioned above, the most important thing for me is my comfort and caring for my skin and not so much the aesthetics.

Once the sugaring in that area becomes less frequent I’d love to try my underarms and legs. My underarms are another area that I get a lot of aggravating hair related irritations. I’ve been using Tend Skin in that area post shaving and it also really helps me there.

Since you guys get the benefit of posting anonymously if you like, I’d love it if you shared your experiences in the comments. Do you deal with this ingrown hair issue? Have you been waxing/sugaring for years? Share your expert tips if you have!

How long does Brazilian sugaring last?

For me it’s about 5-6 weeks. For arm pits it’s about 2 weeks and legs are 3-4 weeks. The benefit though is that grow back is lighter and finer, and not bristly like post shaving or waxing.

My Amazing Week In Manhattan, New York

by Cristina June 20, 2018
written by Cristina

Last week I got the opportunity to tag along for my husbands business trip to Manhattan, New York, which coincided with our 14th wedding anniversary. I love New York so as soon as he got word he was going he knew it would be a resounding yes from me. It was especially nice that his bosses suggested to him that he may want to bring me along for this trip.  This was my second time in New York and I still feel like there is so much left for me to see that I haven’t yet explored.  I learned last time to forego the obligatory ‘Instagram outfit’ choices and prioritize for comfortable walking shoes, shorts, and comfortable tees. I did bring my favorite jeans, some pretty blouses, a dress, and some dressy flats for more formal events, but my daily sightseeing attire consisted of cutoff denim shorts, simple tee shirts, and sneakers or flat espadrilles. See the bottom of this post for my packing details.

Picnic in Central Park

New York Central Park Skyline

Were We Stayed

We stayed at the Hilton in Midtown which is very much a conference and business hotel. It was roomy and central to everything, so I would definitely recommend it for that reason, but, it’s a very busy hotel in the business district. There were three conferences going at once, along with a huge high school excursion. Needless to say, the lobby and elevators were at full capacity. Last time we where in New York we got a great price at the Soho Grand Hotel. That hotel was stunning and very elegantly modern, had great ambiance, and I really loved staying in Soho. The room was tiny though and we had to take the train out to a lot of sightseeing highlights. There was a lot of shopping in Soho but not as many restaurants or coffee options as there are in Midtown, and everything closes down around 6 or 7, whereas Midtown seems to never sleep.   I think I’d stay at the Hilton again for convenience sake. We were a few blocks away from Central Park, a few blocks away from 5th Ave, Madison Ave and Rockefeller Center and we had tons and tons of restaurant options all around us in varying price points. I found out on the last day that we were very close to Bryant Park and I wish I’d spent more time there. I really liked that our hotel had a Blue Mercury store in the lobby. I enjoyed browsing cosmetics while waiting for my husband to meet back up with me.

Our Flight, Day 1, Dinner in Soho

Our first day we arrived at 7 am after taking the redeye Cathay Pacific flight to JFK. I had NO idea JFK was that far out of the city but the cab ride took an hour and a half thanks to commuter traffic congestion. Our flight left at 10:30 pm the night before so we were jet-lagged and tired but my husband was limited on sightseeing time so we had a one hour nap and then got on with the day. We strolled around Midtown, ate lunch at one of the restaurants at Rockefeller Center, and then eventually we made our way to Soho. I really enjoyed checking out the new Alo Yoga flagship store in Soho. I posted those photos on my Instagram here. We had our anniversary dinner at Balthazar’s in Soho which I really wanted to try out last time, but it was so busy we couldn’t get in. This time it was also very busy but we somehow managed to get squeezed in.

5th Avenue, St. Patrick’s Cathedral

St. Patrick’s Cathedral on 5th Avenue is definitely a site to see amongst all the shopping. I’ve been in many famous European Cathedrals and this one is just as beautiful and grand inside and out. There is a constant flow of tourists and worshipers at all hours of the day, right up until the late evening. It was also a great spot to sit and drink a coffee on the steps and people watch when we were tired from walking. It was grad weekend so we saw many, many venues throughout the city hosting grad ceremonies which is what the crowd is in this picture.

Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum

A huge highlight for me was visiting my oldest friend who recently moved to New York and seeing the Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum with her. We had such a fantastic day taking the subway, walking through Central Park looking for the museum and then after the museum we decided to take the train back to midtown and check out the Downton Abbey exhibit. The Heavenly Bodies exhibit though is phenomenal and I highly recommend it. If you went to Catholic school, or went to a Catholic church (and you were as terrorized as you were fascinated by the movie The Exorcist like I was), the imagery of this show is just so intense, and beautiful. It’s not that the exhibit is scary or intends to mirror that movie at all at all but there is a definite ambiance with the music and the lighting, and some of the costumes looked very familiar to the movie. I took copious amounts of Art History classes in college so the imagery was very strong for me.

The Highline and Chelsea Market

The Highline in the Meatpacking district and the Chelsea Market is another area to check out. It’s a nice stroll on a sunny day.

Bryant Park and The New York Public Library

This beautiful park was a big highlight for me and an accidental find. We walked about 10 miles on this day and stumbled upon Bryant Park as we meandered back towards Midtown.  We later realized it was very close to our hotel. We watched an amazing ballet show and sat and people watched, and then we walked around to the front were the New York Public Library is situated. The park itself has a huge grassy field, a stage, coffee shops, restaurants and bar, a carousel and a shady tree-lined stroll. This seemed to be a popular work lunch spot and after work hangout, so it’s a perfect spot to spend a few hours.

Eating in New York

We had several great meals so I wanted to share a few. The Wayfarer was really great for both breakfast and dinner. It was a block away from our hotel so we did end up hitting this restaurant up for two meals during the week.

Balthazar’s is in Soho and where we went for our Anniversary dinner. It’s a really great and well-loved French bistro and it’s always packed.

I think my favorite meal though was a much humbler one at Pazza Notte. This was also close to our hotel and it was constantly overflowing with dinners and was very lively. I realized later that that was due to the delicious pizza plus the two for one martini happy hour so this was a very popular post-work drinks place. The restaurant is really big with many tables, and the entire front of the restaurant was an open patio. Our waitress was fantastic! She handled an ungodly amount of tables, was really sweet and had great recommendations. We tried the martini flavor of the day (from their very extensive martini menu) and it was strong and delicious and went very well with the pizza.

Coffee in New York

Joe and the Juice is very ‘Instagram’ and youtube vlogger popular and it was right in front of our hotel so I tried it twice. The coffee was good, the smoothie was also good but I didn’t fall in love with the place. I just kind of had bad service both times I went in and it was pretty expensive. I’m not picky about service and I rarely complain but one of the issues I had was they made me the wrong drink after a really long wait for my order, and when I mentioned it they just put that drink back in the blender and added some more ingredients to it rather than making a new one – in the end, it was not what I ordered so It hurt me to pay $10 USD for that smoothie. There seemed to be a ton of smoothie and fresh pressed juice shops in the different neighborhoods so I was not so enchanted by this particular one.

Ground Support in Soho is probably the best coffee I’ve tried in New York and definitely worth looking for if you are exploring around the neighborhood. This was our main coffee shop near our hotel when we were in New York in 2014, so this time around we made sure to look for it again.

What I Purchased In New York

I posted about the dress here (from Gap), and the shoes I got at the huge Bergdorf Goodman designer sale. I price compared shoes with the sale going on down the street at Saks 5th Ave and the Bergdorf sale was surprisingly better (for such a swanky and intimidating store). The shoes were on clearance and since I love espadrilles I decided to snatch them up since the clearance price was in line with high street prices. I did ogle some Malone Soulier pumps that were stunning, but out of my comfortable price range.  Lots of Louboutins on sale there, and Manolo Blahniks and Valentinos.

There was so much more I saw and did this trip that I wish I could fit in this post, but these are the main highlights. I really hope I can go back there next year.

The Lululemon New Product Upload

Lululemon New Product upload is live! Last weeks posts: #NYC Shopping, The Upload, My New Mini Cross Body Bag

Nothing for me today but that Sea Steel Shibori print is really calling to me. I think I would have gotten them if they were crops. I think I’m kicking myself for not ordering the Every Moment Short in black in a size up before that size sold out. Those flew under my radar but I think a few of you had been discussing them in the comments. I’m also really curious about the Everyday Skirt but I feel like it wouldn’t be flattering on my pear shape because of the way the hem is split with a narrower front than back, and a hi-low hem.

PS. I think I’m going to write about my New York Trip tomorrow if that interests you. I was a bad blogger and didn’t get ‘OOTD’ style shots and I really didn’t’ put together outfits or looks so it won’t be that kind of content,  but I had such a great time and thought I’d share my highlights.

Did you order anything today? Try anything on in store?

#NYCShopping – The Perfect March 11 Dress Dupe

by Cristina June 14, 2018
written by Cristina

Have you heard of the March 11 Dress? I can’t remember when I first saw a dress by this brand but I instantly fell in love with the traditional Ukrainian graphic embroidered, oversized relaxed dress. I especially love all of the red dresses.  The price point on these New York designed dresses are astronomical so definitely not something I’d ever be able to splurge on, but it inspired the hunt for the same look elsewhere. Yesterday I saw a woman near our hotel wearing what I thought was this dress, and It caught my eye immediately. I just loved seeing it styled in real life. It looked so casual yet chic.  It turns out the dress she was wearing was from the Gap. I actually found it at the Gap this morning and got to try it on. Love it so much I picked it up. It’s currently on sale for cheaper on Gap.com, but my size is sold out so I am keeping the one I purchased this morning. I always like to read the reviews on the Gap and usually you find a lot of negatives that point to problematic fit, or quality issues but this one has 5 stars. I tried on the large and extra large because this dress is not a-line so I worried it would be snug around the hips. The large was actually perfect and it has a nice length at just above the knee with a very relaxed fit in the shoulders, bust and arms. If you like this boho statement style dress I highly recommend it. I can’t wait to wear this dress with my Salvatore Ferragamo Wedge Sandals I got on eBay.
