#NYCShopping – The Perfect March 11 Dress Dupe

by Cristina

Have you heard of the March 11 Dress? I can’t remember when I first saw a dress by this brand but I instantly fell in love with the traditional Ukrainian graphic embroidered, oversized relaxed dress. I especially love all of the red dresses.  The price point on these New York designed dresses are astronomical so definitely not something I’d ever be able to splurge on, but it inspired the hunt for the same look elsewhere. Yesterday I saw a woman near our hotel wearing what I thought was this dress, and It caught my eye immediately. I just loved seeing it styled in real life. It looked so casual yet chic.  It turns out the dress she was wearing was from the Gap. I actually found it at the Gap this morning and got to try it on. Love it so much I picked it up. It’s currently on sale for cheaper on Gap.com, but my size is sold out so I am keeping the one I purchased this morning. I always like to read the reviews on the Gap and usually you find a lot of negatives that point to problematic fit, or quality issues but this one has 5 stars. I tried on the large and extra large because this dress is not a-line so I worried it would be snug around the hips. The large was actually perfect and it has a nice length at just above the knee with a very relaxed fit in the shoulders, bust and arms. If you like this boho statement style dress I highly recommend it. I can’t wait to wear this dress with my Salvatore Ferragamo Wedge Sandals I got on eBay.

I love this on you 🙂 Could you remind us of your height again? I’m just trying to guesstimate if it will be too short for me

Yay! I’m so glad you scored it at such a great price. I had to get it full price in USD because although it was on sale online it was sold out in my size in both CAD and USD. I love it even at full price though. Enjoy wearing it!

I wish they would accept the discount codes somehow in store. Still a good deal at full price vs. March 11!

I’ve never heard of the March 11 dress but it’s pretty and mostly just eye-catching. I feel like Anthropologie does an amazing job at dresses like these cause of their extended size range (available mostly online) more so than Free People (less tailored). The Gap one looks fantastic on you! You make me want a red summer dress now.

I also found a Washed Luna in my size and placed a phone order yesterday. After much deliberation, I gave in. I’m shocked they had any left! Also it was your reviews that got me super FOMO haha.

Thanks so much for all the hard work you put in! I look forward to all your posts.

Thanks so much for your lovely words Merrly! <3

Yes I love Anthro as well. I have much more luck there than I do with Free People but I do love FP for sweaters and long sleeves in the fall/winter. I'd buy the March 11 dress for sure if I ever see it marked down below $200. It will happen at some point, I just have to watch for it.

I got the red Gap dress. I was afraid the balloon sleeves would overwhelm my 5’2” frame but I love it!! It’s nicely made, too! Thanks Lulumum 🙂

YAY!! I’m so glad you love it! I like Gap for a lot of things but it’s definitely hit or miss with some of the dressier pieces, you really have to dig for the high-quality items. I’m glad I discovered this one and that I also saw it on someone beforehand. I may have passed it up had I not seen it live on a person.
