Guest Fit Review: Contour Jacket

by Cristina

Thanks again to Mrs. O for sharing her fit reviews! I have more reviews coming this week for you so make sure to check back. Also, if you’ve tried items on and don’t wish to do a published post fit review but would still like to share, feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.

Contour Jacket

I wasn’t planning on trying on the Contour Jacket even though I was drawn to it.  I also wasn’t sure if I liked the contrasting zippers.  Mainly, I was trying to avoid it so I wouldn’t spend anymore money.  But when I got to the store, it was calling my name.  The moment I put it on, I knew it was coming home with me!  I only wish they offered it in more colors.  Nocturnal teal is hard to match but since I already purchased the Round Trip Jacket in pelt, I took home the teal color.  Pelt just looks better in the swift fabric because of the slight sheen to it.  I tried on my TTS and my Define size (6).  The biggest difference was the length of the jacket and sleeves between the 4 and 6.  But when I asked all the eds, they unanimously picked my TTS.  (BTW, they didn’t know what size I was trying on).  Because it is nulu, there’s a lot more give in the jacket than the define.  It wasn’t as slim as I thought it would be.  If you are in between sizes, I would size up.  It just depends on how in between you are.  If you’re closer to the smaller size and you think you might get smaller, then get the smaller size.  If you are consistently in between, then size up.  Either way, because of the cut of the jacket, a size up will not look too big.  This jacket was so slimming and flattering.  The nulu was luxurious.  A lot of you will like the longer length.  Although you can’t see it so well in the pictures because the color was so dark, the jacket covered my bum and came to the bottom of my hip bones.  Because the fabric is so forgiving, you can adjust it down or up depending on your preference.  The length was great for me because I have a longer torso.  I love this jacket and I know the tags will come off soon.  I’ll just hold out for a bit to see if it comes in another fall color.

This reminds me a lot of the (old – maybe 2013?) Nice Asana jacket. Anyone have both and can compare fit? I loved the Nice Asana!

That one reminded me of the stride/in stride jacket. I have babied mine and I still love them.

yes that’s true! Me too – and that jacket didn’t work for me because of the length. Same with this one 🙁

I also love nice asana and own 3 of them. The contour jacket does remind me of a cross between define and nice asana jacket. I picked up 2 today and they are slightly shorter than the nice asana (by 1″) and because the fabric is thinner it does contour around your body so I went up in size whereas the nice asana is thicker.

I also think the fit of the nice asana is not as slim fit as the contour jacket. Because the contour jacket is bit shorter in length than the nice asana, it doesn’t bunch up as much. I love both of them.

I wonder how the nulu will hold up to piling in a jacket. I have define jackets that have pilled, and luon isn’t as notorious for piling as nulu is. I’ll be curious to see the reviews after a couple months of wear.

Thanks Mrs O for the review!

This jacket looks great on you Ms. O! Very flattering. I haven’t looked at it simply because I just bought two of the round trip jackets and am in LOVE! Reminds me of old lulu. Grabbed pelt and black. Debated Melanite but it’s too close to black I think and the black matches more. I hope it comes in more colours. Also grabbed the noir pants in black. It’s so funny, I wore more blue ones this summer a lot with crop tops and wished I had bought the black when I got the blue years ago and voila!

I picked up the melanite and love the jacket too! I wear grey more than black so it made sense.

I haven’t had any problems with pilling with nulu. But I know many of you have expressed that you have experienced pilling. It could also be that I have so much stuff that my rotation changes so often that I don’t wear one item often enough to see wear and tear. LOL. I’ll report back if I notice any pilling after a few wears. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it will hold up. I just love this jacket.

It looks really good on you Mrs. O! I think you nailed it with the fit being good on a longer torso though – didn’t work as well on me though. I tried it and was disappointed because I have a very short torso, so it hits my hips higher up and leaves a lot of loose fabric in the middle that kind of bulges out. Although I was disappointed the fit didnt’ work for me, I was happy not to have to spend the money! haha. I also got the Round Trip (in Melanite …swwoooonn finally a nice grey!), and that one fits me much better. It’s long but my hips don’t get in the way of the fit 😉

Thanks! Generally, my longer torso works with a lot of things. But I’ve found a few items that are so long, that even with my long torso, it does the same thing as you — bunching up. It can be so frustrating. But then again, women like you can wear many more shorter length tops than me, which I always find so cute. Ahh, we always want what we don’t have. LOL.

Haha so true! Maybe they will make a nulu version of the define! oh then I’d be jumping all over that 🙂
