It’s that time of year again! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is just around the corner and the catalogue is beginning to show up in mailboxes. You can see it online right here. This will be my 10th year covering the sale so I am a bit of an expert on where to spend, and where to save which is why I like to share the catalog as soon as possible! Feel free to check out all my old Nordstrom Anniversary Sale posts to get an idea of what to expect.
When Is The 2019 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?
If you aren’t new to this blog then you know there will be many more posts to come sharing my best tips, and suggestions with tons of sale coverage during the sale. The reason we love this sale so much is that it is all new Fall merchandise being debuted for the sale, at discounted prices! After the sale ends these items go up in price. Early Access for the sale starts on July 11th and the sale goes to August 4th. To get early access you need to have a Nordstrom Credit Card. Regular Access to the sale starts July 19th.
My Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2019 Catalog Sale Picks
Blazers
Two blazers I’m loving. These are on the very pricey side but a blazer is an investment piece worth splurging on. The first one is a Veronica Beard Blaze. I love how it looks here but I’m not sure this is the one for me. I’m much more gravitating to the L’Agence blazer. L’Agence is a new to me brand. I love how Balmain this blazer looks, the cut and the gold buttons. it’s stunning!
Denim
Denim is going to be my most likely purchase this year. I’m really loving the Frame Le High Flare. I don’t have any flare denim right now and I’m excited to try on a different shape than I’m used to. My #1 favourite jeans currently in my closet are the AG Farrah so I will probably get a pair of those.
Athletic Apparel
I love a good Adidas Track Jacket. They haven’t really had any good Adidas Track Jackets on this sale over the past few years so I’m excited to see this one.
I purchased a few Alo yoga items this year and I’m really loving them. I’ve always loved the Alo Motto Leggings but haven’t purchased them yet. If these come in black, I will be getting them.
Sweaters
Both of these sweaters jumped out at me. The white one is a Vince Sweater, and the blue one is L’Agence once again.
Accessories
First up is the Salvatore Ferragamo Leather Belt. I’ve been eying this belt for a few months now as an alternative to the ubiquitous Gucci belt. This belt is in the men’s section but it looks exactly like the woman’s belt. Definitely something I’m considering.
I don’t think I’ve noticed a coach bag in years but this one jumped right out at me. I love the leather color, the shape and the chain detail. This is a really beautiful bag.
Beauty and Fragrance
Le Labo Santal 33 is my favourite fragrance of all time. This sold out fast last year so I couldn’t get it.
Diptyque are my favourite candles. This is such a great gift to buy ahead for Christmas or birthday gifts.
I got the Charlotte Tilbury set a few years ago but back then it was just the lipstick and lip liner. This is my favourite color lipstick from her and I love that it now comes with the same color lip gloss.

I can’t believe it’s that time of year already. Love your posts about this sale.
I’m born and raised in Seattle so have been shopping the anniversary sale for decades. It is horrible now. The majority of items are made for the sale so are not the same quality as main line items. It’s as if Nordstrom ran a factory outlet for a few weeks. Most sale items end up at the rack by fall for much cheaper prices than they were at the sale. I also find all the over hyping and bloggers all reviewing the same items to be so odd. It used to be *the* event to shop for back to school and now I don’t even bother.
Yes there is definitely a lot of animosity towards bloggers covering the sale on some of the forums and it feels more like turf wars than anything. I think people don’t realize that forums are blogs too, just with more content being created by readers than main posters – but affiliate links going to ‘the house’. Not much different from sales associates earning commissions on items they pull for their regular clients, and then getting creative and microblogging on instagram from their stores.
I just blog about it because I love it and always have. It is also a chance for me to learn new blogging skills every year which I find really exciting and it helps me be a better blogger for the rest of the year. This year I’m trying something new with a very new feature and I’m super excited to see how it works out. It’s a TON of extra work but this is the perfect time to beta test it.
I know there is a sense that the sale has degraded over the years as a result of the influencer focus but that is a testiment that it works, and shoppers are engaged online in a different way than they where decades ago. That same customer base is also shopping for fashion on amazon throughout the year and seaking out ‘deals’. Nordstrom responds to what their customer base is buying and how they are interacting with the sale. I definitely agree that there has been a bigger focus on the disposable fashion and house brands. My focus for this sale is always on the quality items and the investment pieces. I really avoid a lot of the house brand items. You will see that each year my focus is on very similar items. I hope you enjoy the coverage here, or if you are just kinda done with it all it’s a good time to unplug from social media.
I will continue to blog about all the other topics I cover throughout the sale so I hope you stay tuned for that content.
FYI, my most epic Nordstrom Sale experience was when the Nordstrom Vancouver store had an outlet sale over a weekend two years ago. They contracted the sale out to a local company and sold off their excess inventory to them. It was incredible. I got Acne boots for a steal, Rag & Bone boots for $79, AG jeans for $12, and none of it was made especially for this sale. I blogged about it here (Nordstrom Warehouse Sale)
The sale has lost a bit of charm for me. I used to love going and looking around but now things are gone after the first day. I also end up buying things I never wear. Last year I bought two cashmere sweaters and before I ever even took the tags off, they were discounted even more in October. No price adjustment then. It is a great place to by your basics. I always get a new pair of jeans. I ❤️AG., am in the market for a new down parka this year and maybe a pair of blondo boots. I have also learned to stay away from
In house brands. They don’t last. I Don’t know if I’ll actually go in or just shop from home this year.
Jeans are #1 for me for sure. AG has been my favourites for a long time but I also like Frame and Mother. I also always look at Mackage. Hopefully they have a good parka for you this year. I have a Barbour coat I got 3-4 years ago and really like it a lot but it’s not a parka. I used to always seek out Rag & Bone boots but haven’t liked the style the last few years + I have the ones I loved the most. I think this year I really want to check out Alexander Wang shoes. the ones last year where stunning but I didn’t need sandals. I got AW boots on major markdown on Boxing Day though and I am hooked.
Did you get a lot of good use out of what you bought at the sale last year? I’d be interested in a recap, you talking about what you bought and loved and used constantly, or what you later felt wasn’t worth it and why.
I live in the American south where it’s about 95 degrees and just about as much humidity. Fall things are very unappealing to me in this weather. So I will sit out this sale.
Mostly I did but I can tell you right off the top of my head that the Free People sweater I got was not worth getting at that time. The FP items always go on sale and those same items go on sale everywhere so you can easily find them all over poshmark, Nordstrom Rack and The Bay. It was way too trendy too with avant guard sleeves so not sure how much use I thought I was going to get from it. That was a small purchase so it didn’t make a huge deal but I should have optimized my spending. The second item I sort of regret are the Vince sneakers only because I got the Veja Esplars at some point and I just like them a lot better. I sold the Vince ones and got a different pair of Vince boots instead from Poshmark and I love those way more.
Christina, thank you for your wonderful informative and sophisticated blog. Being a longtime Lululemon lover got me here! I read it every upload day and enjoy the new look you have for your blog! I too have shopped the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale for many years and always find something I like! Really appreciate your hard work! A very heartfelt thank you!
Thanks for the Nordstrom sale information! I need to broaden my fashion horizon so I enjoy these type of posts.
I have a pair of the ALO yoga high waisted Moto leggings. Just a few things about them:
1) The material is kind of thickish and doesn’t have a good feel to it … cute for out and about, but not great technical workout gear.
2) After wearing them you will have ridges deeply etched into your legs from the ribbing details. (But they aren’t uncomfortable on.)
I bought them thinking I’d wear them for yoga, but hated working out in them because they aren’t very breathable and the crotch area doesn’t stretch as well. But I kept them as casual athleisure wear because I love the detailing on them.
Thanks for the tips! I tried them on a few years ago and couldn’t pull the trigger and I think it’s for these reasons. They just felt not workouty. At the sale price I can justify them for casual wear.
Cristina, I, too, love your blog. I live in Australia and even though I’m not familiar with a number of of the brands or stores, I still love your blog and read every post. Your lululemon posts are what drew me to you and remain my favourite. Thanks again.
You are so lovely!! Thank you for telling me that and for reading my blog.
Hi Cristina,
I too love your blog. You put so much effort into it and introduced brands and styles that I would not have otherwise discovered. I was also drawn to your blog for Lululemon post but now love reading all your discoveries and Nordstrom Yearly sales. I look forward to reading all your blogs.
I’m late on this post, catching up to my bloglist.
I would add that I also like your Nordstrom posts even though I find their sale really overrated. Yes the blogsphere is soooo saturated with posts on it that is exhausting. But your posts specifically are helpful with complete details of why you like something and how it fits. Most bloggers just do a massive try on and link it all. It gets old and I feel I’m reading the same thing 10 times.
For me I will skip the sale as usual. The only items on there that could be of interest are denims but I am not a denim girl at all so still not worth it for me. IT just got warm in Ottawa like yesterday so I have no interest in fall items 😀
Thank you again for your blog 🙂
Hello! Do you think you will upload the full PDF catalog like you did last year!? That was a lifesaver!!!! If so, ETA? Thank you for being so detailed and awesome!
If I can find one I absolutely will. It all depends on if one of the sales assistants decide to share it.
Sarah, here it is! A sneaky ‘private’ post that I am updating constantly. Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Sneak Peeks.
Is there online early access in Canada? If so what do you need? Nordstrom cars?
Only if you are ordering off the US site. Canada Dates are Early Access July 16 – 18th, Public Access July 19th – August 4th (in store). If you want early access to the sale you do need the Nordstrom credit card.
