Cookie Policy

The Sweat Edit uses cookies to ensure that we are able to give you the best user experience possible on the website, and to personalize content. Like all websites we use cookies to analyze web traffic, to personalize content, to have referrals originating from content accurately attributed, and to enhance social media features. Session cookies expire immediately once you close your browser, and persistent cookies expire after a period of time such as 3 days, or 7 days. Some cookies are required for websites to run correctly and for websites to be responsive. You may opt out of this functionality. If you opt out of this functionality you still may view the Website but your ability to use and view particular areas of the Website will be limited.

Session Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Disclosure

All opinions are my own and any sponsored or paid posts will always be clearly marked. Outward links to retailers will sometimes be affiliate links. An affiliate link is a link to a retail website that has been encoded with a tracking cookie. The cookie notes for a period of time if you have made a purchase (or returned that purchase) after you’ve clicked one of my links. Cookie durations range from 1 day to 4 weeks depending on the retailer. To date all of mine have ranged from 3 days to 7 days.  The website you’ve made your purchase from keeps track via a unique code that tracks back to me if you clicked my affiliate link. My code allows me to earn a commission on the sale generated from my links, within a certain time period. Any commisions earned are clawed back with returns or price adjustments. It is in my interest to only recommend items that readers will ultimately be very happy with and want to keep. It is always my goal to inspire, not instigate sales.  The commission I earn, or my contributors earn on their own links does not cost you anything, nor does it change the price of the item you are purchasing, or my opinions. This simply supports my blog in a way that allows me to blog daily and allows me to maintain my site with its associated costs. I will post links that are relevant and available to items I mention or show on my posts but this in no way guarantees that my review or my opinion on that item will be favorable or positive. You may love an item that I hate, or I may love an item that you hate. My aim with this blog is to be informative by providing my reviews, critiques, and recommendations for items I love or use.

Contributor on this site may at times use their own affiliate links earning their own commisions,  while always following and maintaining my affiliate link values.

Personal Data

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics and to track our traffic behaviour, understand which pages are being read, where readers are linking from, where they are, how long they are spending on certain pages, and other information that helps us understand how our readers use our site. We do not use additional parameters within the application to attribute users browser profiles with other elements of their usage, device or location data, or other identity markers. In addition, we randomize IPs within Analytics to further prevent attribution.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. instagram posts, Facebook posts, videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
