Thanks to Mrs. O for sharing her fit review of the Ready To Rulu Pant and the Get Set LS. More reviews to come throughout the weekend!

Ready To Rulu Pant, Get Set LS

I didn’t buy the Ready to Rulu Joggers last year.  I tend not to wear joggers as much as my tights.  But I was intrigued by this print so I tried it on.  I absolutely loved them.  They were so soft and they fit very nicely.  The one complaint I have with Lululemon’s joggers is the fact that most of them come with a drawstring.  I wish they would put the drawstring in the inside so when you have a fitted top on, it doesn’t bulge out.  Most of the men’s joggers are in the inside.  Don’t they know us ladies want smoothness in the tummy area?  I didn’t think I would like the fact that this pattern/print was a light gray/white but once on, I really liked it.  In person the heathered black cherry is a very nice color.  These joggers are TTS (they actually fit better than the other joggers).  The length was great — there was limited bunching at the bottom.  A lot less than other joggers.  I’ve put myself on a spending freeze, so these are on my Christmas wish list.  So, for those of you looking to buy some new joggers, I highly recommend these.  They are very soft, comfy and flattering on.
I know the Get Set LS has been out for awhile but I wanted to try something I wouldn’t naturally gravitate towards.  I didn’t like how the shirt looked online and in store pictures.  But, I was pleasantly surprised that I liked it.  It didn’t bow out in the back as much as I thought it would and it fit nicer in the front than I expected.  This shirt is TTS with some room.  So depending on the fit you want, you can stay TTS or size up for more draping and length.

The Lululemon Upload

The Lululemon Upload

by Cristina October 24, 2017
written by Cristina

The weekly Lululemon Upload post. Last weeks upload, fit review post, and guest fit review.

LOL, Lululemon’s response to ‘the ratio between tanks to tights is off and there aren’t enough tanks to buy’ which was the discussion we where having on last weeks upload post, is to create this ‘starter pack‘ of three core tanks. I haven’t priced it out yet to see if there is a discount to the bulk pricing. That being said, I’m very happy to see the Essential Tank back in more colors.  Another strange gimmick is that Lululemon has been embossing like crazy items that have not sold well just to push some sales (the Cut Above *Expression, Love Tanks, and random stuff that doesn’t sell well and this strange abomination of a copy of Calvin Klein circa 1993). Do people fall for these marketing gimmicks? What is going on with their merchandizing? Why bother having sold out APL sneakers on your ‘What’s New’ landing page when you are just enticing your shoppers to click elsewhere to complete a sale for APL Sneakers.  You can just buy whatever color or style you like of the Athletic Propulsion Lab shoes on their own site [Here] while abandoning the Lululemon site altogether. What a strange way of leading sales off your own site.

The All Days Vest was released last winter but it was pulled off the site within a day of being uploaded for some reason. I remember a few of you being perplexed by that last year when they where pulled from store shelves and off the site. I was curious to try it on last year and I’d definitely like to try it on this year but I don’t think I want to order it. I have several vests I already love so I can’t justify it, but I do like the longer length. Ready To Rulu Pants are must haves. I have a black pair and a spare that is NWT, and I have black grape, so I probably shouldn’t order another pair this year but it’s sure tempting. I am tempted by the Space Dye Camo.

Where are all the winter running items? They are so delayed this year. I’ve gotten so many emails from you guys asking me when Lululemon typically releases the cold weather run gear and tech fleece items and we are definitely overdue.

Did you guys order anything yet? I’m waiting for these floral print tights to show up.

Shoe Shopping: Manolo Blahnik Hangisi vs. Valentino Rockstud Noir Pumps

by Cristina October 23, 2017
written by Cristina

I hope you don’t mind a bit more of a glamour edit post vs. my typical sweat edit posts. Although I live and love my athleisure wear, I also really love fashion and beauty as you know and I’ve been wanting to add more content that reflects all aspects of my fashion interests. Since we are going into holiday party and gala season, maybe this post will be helpful to you getting your mind into what to wear to a black tie event, or simply window shopping as I’ve done for many years. In fact, my favorite window shopping post recently was this one featuring sequined Louboutin Moulamax Boots which I will never buy, but am enjoying looking at.

This past month I had a very (VERY) rare opportunity to splurge on a special pair of shoes and dress for a gala event my husband and I were invited to. My husband and I were invited to go to the 30th Anniversary David Foster Miracle Gala and Concert. The gala is an evening devoted to raising awareness and raising money to support children and their families in need of life-saving organ transplants in Canada. While the medical needs are always covered in Canada, the financial burden of travel, time off work, and the emotional burden of separating siblings and parents during this difficult time is often not recognized or supported. The David Foster foundation supports keeping families together and eases the financial burden for parents needing to take time off work to care for their sick child. It was shocking to learn that over 80% of families going through this ordeal end up either bankrupt or divorced. The cratering effect of a medical crisis like this was not something I fully appreciated until this evening. This years gala raised a record-breaking 10.2 million dollars.  Oprah Winfrey donated 2 million, as did Steven Tyler, Jimmy Pattison and several other celebrities and performers that were present, and local business owners. It was amazing to see the generosity at the local level, and amazing that non-Canadian celebrities where so generous in their donations for a Canadian cause.

On to the more frivolous aspect of this post, the outfit shopping! For this occasion, my husband very kindly offered to infuse my budget so that I could splurge on something really special. We’ve been to many black tie events before but they are rarely truly black tie and often lean towards the very casual end of cocktail dresses. We knew this event would be very different and it was indeed a very upscale formal event. As you can tell from the title of this post, my shoe choices dominated my dress choice.

Manolo Blahnik Hangisi vs. Valentino Rockstud Noir

I’ve been drooling over Valentino Rockstuds for years now and so they were the first shoes I grabbed to pair with this dress, the Adrianna Papell High Low Ballgown. For the dress, I wanted something a-line, and elegant but not overtly sexy (this was a work event for my husband). I wanted to dress smart and appropriate, and not stand out. This is usually how I like to play dressing for work events with my husband. The shoes, on the other hand, that is where I infuse personality and extravagance.

I was a bit worried that the shoes would be too edgy for this type of a dress, but actually, I really loved how the two paired together. Glam + Edgy is perfect for a gala concert with Steven Tyler.  I don’t know when the Manolo Blahnik Hangisis entered my mind, but I wanted to try those on as well with this dress. Specifically, I wanted to try them on in the blue, which many of you will recognize as Carrie Bradshaw’s proposal shoe from Sex And The City. Both shoes looked amazing with the dress and I don’t think one was a better match than the other, one offered a pop of edge while the other offered a vibrant pop of color.  The Manolo Blahniks were more expensive and also seemed to be more delicate than the Valentino’s so I ended up going home with the Rockstuds because I had wanted them for so long. I felt like the Valentinos would be more versatile to pair with jeans and more casual looks as well as more formal looks.

I could not stop thinking about those blue shoes though. When I went home I did not take the rockstuds out of the box to show my husband, I did not try them on again at home and I was too scared to spray them with leather protector or get them resoled (as I do with high-end shoes). I just wasn’t committing to the shoe.  I had to decide if this was just feeling intimidated at such a pricey shoe, or if it was that I felt the other shoe was the right one. After spending time online reading ‘manolo vs. valentino’ and looking at pictures online of both shoes I realized that I needed to exchange the Rockstuds for the Hangisis. I also learned that the Valentinos were just as delicate, if not more so than the Manolos – the Manolos are delicate in terms of the satin, but the structure of the shoe is much more solid.  I raced back to Nordstrom the very next day and did the exchange and when I got home I immediately sprayed them with fabric protector and I wore them around the house to wear them in. While in photos my husband preferred the Valentinos, he thought the Manolos were way better in person. The ordeal of the shoes had a lot to do with the fact that these are so, so expensive and luxurious and I knew that these may be my only pair of luxury shoes for a long time.  In fact, I only have one other pair of heels which I have in a neutral color, and wear to every event. They are the LK Bennet Sledge heals I got on Thredup. They are patent nude and go with everything but they just sort of blend into any outfit, so I’ve never felt the need to buy another pair of heels when I only wear heels 2-3 times per year. Anyways, I picked the blue shoes and could not be happier. It turns out that even though they are blue and very blingy, they are incredibly versatile. They match most of the dresses I already have in my closet, and you can pair them beautifully with ripped jeans, white tee shirt and a leather jacket for a casual glam look.

I take a size 9 in most shoes, and occasionally I size up a 1/2 size in heels, depending on the fit. I got the Manolo Hangisi in a 39.5 (which is equivalent to a size 9). They were snug fitting but did not pinch at all since the toe box is on the bigger side. The leather on the inside is incredibly supple so I knew they would stretch and mold to my foot within a few hours. I’m not a heels wearer so ‘comfort’ is usually hard for me to gauge. I can tell you that these are as comfortable a heel as I will ever wear. typically I suffer from blisters + sore feet and toes at the end of the night but with these shoes, the leather is so soft that I had no blisters or sore toes at all. The only foot pain I suffered was on the bottom of my foot from standing with my weight on my metatarsals.

I’ll also note the size I took in the Valentinos just in case you are curious. The Valentinos were also size 39.5 but felt just a touch bigger. I was told by the SA at Nordstrom that although the Valentino flats are a size up, as are most of the Rockstud shoes, these particular pumps fit bigger and are TTS. The Valentinos felt more comfortable and loose in store but I can tell that over an entire evening the Manolos are the more comfortable shoe because they are more secure on the foot, and have a wider toe box and come up higher on the foot. Neither shoes have much cushioning at the sole so I’m certain the metatarsal pain at the end of the night would have been the same either way, but having my foot more secure in the Manolos meant that my legs were less fatigued. The heel on both shoes is nicely centered below the heel and not at the edge of the back of the shoe, so your weight is evenly distributed. The pitch of the heel is about equal on both and are 4″ or 100-105mm heel height. Louboutins where not at all an option for me as they have a much harsher (and unnatural) pitch and are very uncomfortable to even seasoned heel wearers. The aesthetic of Louboutins also doesn’t suit me as well as these two heels do.

Valentino Rockstud Noir Valentino Rockstud Noir Manolo Blahnik Hangisi

I tried on the light blue Hangisis and really loved them with the dress, but the dark blue are the ones I’m in love with.

Manolo Blahnik Hangisi

I just adore these shoes and plan to wear the hell out of them both casually and dressed up. I still love the Valentino Rockstuds but the Manolo Blahniks have stolen my heart and I cannot stop looking at them.

Valentino Rockstud Noir Adrianna PapelEmbellished High/Low Ballgown Adrianna Papell High Low Ballgown

The highlight of the event for me was seeing Oprah. The celebrities all sat at a long dining table in front of the stage, and our table was about three rows behind theirs so we could see them throughout the evening, although nobody really approached them or disturbed their evening in any way. Oprah presented an award to Jimmy Pattison, a local billionare entrepeneur and philanthropist which she knows personally. I really enjoyed listening to her speak because she really truly is a powerful speaker in person. Her speech was simple and direct, and very moving. I was just in awe this event and enjoying my evening of people watching and getting a glimpse of a world I’m not a part of, and the shoes are a great memento of that evening.

Fit Review: Extra Mile 1/2 Zip Ringspun Denim, Align Pant II Luminesce Splatter Ice Grey Black

written by Cristina

I think this is a temporary location for my fit review mirror, but it’s possible this is its permanent location. I’m feeling very indecisive about where near our entryway this mirror should go. I’m just happy to have it out and up somewhere where I can start doing more fit reviews for you guys finally.

Extra Mile 1/2 Zip Ringspun Denim

I was really intrigued by the Extra Mile LS and 1/2 Zip because of the pretty pleated sleeve detailing and the extra special feminine touches which we haven’t seen from Lululemon since ‘the change’ at head office. This is probably the only item that has been out in two years now that has those feminine design features that Lululemon was always known for. I passed on the LS because I wasn’t sure on the colors available but when I saw this Ringspun Denim print I really wanted to give it a try. It’s not soft rulu like the typical flanneled luon, but it is a nice soft knit. I’m told the solid black is very soft rulu so I’d like to try that on as well, but for now I’m really liking this colorway a lot. This is my TTS and it’s form fitting around the middle (which I don’t love) but It’s not tight like a Define Jacket, and the sleeve length is already long and bunchy so I don’t think I want to size up.

These I really love! As I mentioned in the upload post, I’m partial to splatter prints so I had to order these. I really wish the print had more contrast (white and black splatters) and less uniform splatters. I think that would have made this print absolutely perfect and more splatter like and less static like. The printed aligns tend to be not as soft as regular solid nulu, but this one is very very soft. They feel a bit on the loose side but I wouldn’t size down in Aligns. If you were on the fence with these, I recommend them.

Guest Fit Review: Run On Tight Denim Twill

Thanks so much to Ms. M for this awesome fit review. The photo of her little one in her background brings me right back to when I started my blog and my two where constantly in the backgrounds of my fit reviews. We still have that little Melissa & Doug shopping cart and it still gets played with.

If you’d like to do Lululemon fit reviews, email me at [email protected]

Run On Tight irregular denim twill black white

The Run On Tight Denim Twill has become my new favorite!  I mostly do strength training and HIIT workouts at home with the occasional outdoor run but need items that function for workouts and are comfortable enough to wear all day.

The fabric of the denim twill black white is not your regular luxtreme (which I find to feel cool in the winter), but more textured and soft.

The pockets are big and easy to stash my iPhone and I love that there is no back zipper pocket – much more comfortable when doing moves laying down.

TTS 6 for me, with the medium rise coming right to my belly button. Will be grabbing more of these!

The Lululemon Upload

by Cristina October 17, 2017

The Lululemon Upload is up!

Last weeks Lululemon Upload, and Store Photos.

I don’t know why Lululemon has added the APL shoes to this uploads landing page when they where uploaded last week and where already uploaded with very limited sizes and colors. You can get a huge selection of models, colors and sizes right here on the APL website, or Nordstrom,  or at Carbon38 (although I prefer these Ultra Boosts over the APL’s [Mrs. O’s review]), and Bandier has a great selection as well.

I’m also finding it so hard to buy tops at Lululemon these days. It’s not that I’m not liking the tops, it’s just that they are disproportionately releasing tons and tons of bottoms per 1-2 tops and it’s feeling a bit ridiculous to have so many tights. For tonights upload I decided to order the Extra Mile 1/2 Zip in the Ringspun Denim. I don’t know how I feel about menswear inspired textures in the run tops but I want to try it on and see if it’s soft. I was torn between getting the Extra Mile 1/2 Zip and the Extra Mile Hoodie but I went with the 1/2 zip because it’s been years since I purchased one.

I also ordered these Align Pant II’s because they almost look like a splatter print. I’ve been obsessed with splatter prints lately and ever since my Nike tights I’ve been in love. I’ve been eying this Munro Hoodie (and the Tee and Sweats), and these APL’s with black speckled soles. I was actually going to do an entire post soon of splatter print items I’m loving. These Mineral Deposit WU’s have also caught my eye. Have any of you seen them in store yet? And of course, the sneak peek floral print is catching my eye too.

What did you guys order today?

Cute print preview on the APL thumbnail photo.

ADIDAS BY STELLA MCCARTNEYULTRABOOST X PARLEY SHOES

Ever since I purchased my first pair of UltraBOOST on Cristina’s recommendation, I’ve been obsessed with Adidas UltraBOOST line of shoes, including PureBoost, Adizero and Edge Lux shoes.  I really believe Adidas has stepped up its game in performance shoes and the design aesthetics are fashion forward and fun.  I also like that most of the shoes are environmentally friendly.  I used to be a Nike run shoe only girl but recently I find that Nike shoes aren’t as comfortable or stylish.  Adidas’s UltraBOOST technology is so comfortable and perfect for running and walking.  I really like the difference between the women’s and men’s line because Adidas has taken into consideration the difference in foot strike and arches in women and men.  Unfortunately, UltraBOOST shoes will always be excluded from promotional sales (like friends and family) because Adidas does not own the technology.  They license the technology from the company that developed it.  Nevertheless, I believe the UltraBOOST shoes are well worth the price.   (However, the PureBoost, Adizero and Edge Lux do go on sale and qualify for promotional discounts).
These Stella McCartney + Paley collaboration UltraBOOST shoes are great!  They were on my wishlist for my birthday and my hubby got them for me.  I generally wear a size 9 in shoes but I size up to a 10 in sneakers.  I like wiggle room for my toes.  So, these olive green/navy blue sneakers are a size 10 and fit perfectly.  Because of the way the laces tie, I feel there is more support around the base of my foot and arches than the standard UltraBOOST.  They seem to have more stability than the others.  I cannot wear UltraBOOST for heavy weight training (with lots of legwork) because there is no side support around the feet.  But these are perfect for running, walking, and agility and upper body workouts.  The fact that the arch is raised from the sole of the shoes makes arch support very comfortable.  I have flat arches but these give me enough rise in the arch to better support my ankles.  Others that have high arches have told me the rise of the arch works for them as well (i.e., my trainer).  These shoes have a lower profile around the ankle than you would expect.  The sock fit makes them very comfortable and there’s no fear of developing blisters at the back of the ankle.  The color offerings in UtraBOOST are fun and varied — something for everyone.  These neutral olive green Stella’s go with everything.  I like the color of the olive green Stella’s more than the olive green UltraBOOST.  The non-Stella UltraBOOST olive green has more brown in it.  The Stella’s are more vibrant.
I highly recommend anyone that runs to try UltraBOOST shoes.  It’s like running (and walking) on clouds.  I’ve never had a more comfortable pair of shoes.  It’s worth saving up for them or trading two pairs of Lululemon tights for a pair of UltraBOOST.  Like Cristina, I’m going to save for my next pair of UltraBOOST in either the trace pink, core black, pearl grey or easy coral.

Lululemon Tech Lux Jacket
Fit Review

Fit Review: Tech Lux Jacket

by Cristina October 13, 2017
written by Cristina

Sorry for the bad backdrop but I had a request yesterday for a proper fit review of the Tech Lux Jacket since I mentioned liking it on my facebook page. Soon I will have a proper area set up where I can take fit review photos with better lighting. Another thing to note is that I’m trying out Lightroom for my photos so I can get some better detail – It’s day two so please forgive my amateur attempts.

Lululemon Tech Lux Jacket Lululemon Tech Lux Jacket

Tech Lux Jacket

The material on this is the same stretchy, spongy luxtreme spacer fabric as the Embrace The Space line from last year. It’s not the thick, stiff cottony spacer but actual luxtreme. I am not a huge fan of spacer but I do like this particular version of spacer since it’s soft, but very streamlined. This is a great material for layering under a jacket since it won’t feel bulky and the smooth material won’t tug against other fabrics. I got this jacket in my TTS and I find it form fitting and very flattering, but not tight. I wish it had a bit of extra length but I wouldn’t call this cropped or short, it’s just slightly shorter than a scuba hoodie. The sleeves are plenty long on me but I’m not sure how it will be for those of you that have sleave length issues already. Another thing I really love about this jacket is because it is luxtreme spacer, it’s a true dark black jacket, not a washed out or faded, or heathered black.

If any of you are wondering what jeans I’m wearing, they are the AG The Legging Raw Hem. I am in love with them! I’m thinking of doing a denim post soon on my favorite jeans once my office space is set up. Let me know if you are interested in that. I also have some Aritzia purchases that I’m happy to share with you guys. I find it overwhelming to make selections at Aritzia so you sort of need to be ‘in the know’ as to what the treasures are.
