lululemon gifts for him and her

This lululemon gifts for him and her post is in partnership with lululemon. I am so thrilled to be working with lululemon once again. lululemon has gifted me the outfit I’m wearing here today. I am part of the sweat collective and I earn commission on any purchases you make through my links. All content is conceptualized, selected and created by me, and as always, all opinions are my own.

My husband is so cute stealthily showing me his lululemon wish list. We went in to lululemon to pick up my online order, and he b-lined it straight to this jacket to admire it and try it on. He LOVED it.

Ryan mused about how the jacket he currently wears he’s had since University 15 years ago, when we moved to Saskatoon and we had to experience our first really cold winter. The kind of winter our weak asses have never experienced before. ? I’m not sure that jacket has many feathers left in it. RIP old jacket.

Naturally I knew that I had to call the store back later and order it for curbside pickup, so that I could sneak it home. He looks amazing in burnt caramel. He pretty much only ever spends on work clothes, or socks and underwear. This year with working from home he’s been needing more casual clothes that he can wear at his desk, out to grab coffee, or to run down to the home gym and get a quick workout in. He definitely needs a mullet outfit. The zoom combination of sweat pants and dress shirt.

This color looked so great on him that he inspired me to try on the women’s version of the Navigation Stretch Down in spiced bronze which I picked up in the Black Friday sale last night. I love picking items out for Black Friday that I wouldn’t have typically taken a risk on. Those always end up being my most favourite purchases.

I am loving the colour palette in the men’s line so much. I wish the women’s line had burnt caramel which is slightly darker and deeper than spiced bronze. So many elegant earthy neutrals this year that integrate really well with more polished formal outfits. We did get lucky with Savannah, French Press and several other earthy neutrals in the women’s line that pair beautifully with the jewel tones. The men’s line right now is just fantastic.

lululemon gifts for her…

The special edition pieces really shine as wow gifts for her thanks to those luxurious details we only get to see during the holidays. The special textures, features and fabric shimmers really glam it up, and the unique branding designs highlight the uniqueness. The presentation is just so great thanks to the special edition hangtags. It adds to the whole gifting experience.

For that extra special gift, if you wanted to go all out and buy an outfit I think this one on the right is really beautiful and would wrap up nicely in a gorgeous gift box. Add a gift card for a special date/active experience like that hike you’ve been meaning to tackle together, or… if you are waiting on a piece of fitness equipment that has delayed shipping.. gift this outfit and include a photo of the item on it’s way.

For the extra special SANTA gift, go for an entire outfit packaged up beautifully . You can include personalized gift certificate for a special active date experience together. Include that local hiking trip you’ve been meaning to tackle!

Here is an idea for those of you gifting fitness equipment. I know a lot of you are in this boat and have uncertain shipping date estimates. In light of potentially delayed shipments, gifting a workout outfit as it’s stand in is a great touch!

If you are like me and really limiting the in store shopping trips this season, you will love the new added series.

lululemon Black Friday 2020 is here!

by Cristina November 25, 2020
written by Cristina

Here are my picks for the lululemon Black Friday upload. So many goodies!

I was really happy to see two older items I had been wanting to find marked down. The Serene Travels Bomber in Chianti was the first thing to make it into my shopping cart. I already have the black which I got on markdown months ago and had been hunting for Chianti. It’s been taunting me on the US side for weeks now.

The Get Centred Tights are my practical purchase. Although sometimes we see patterned black align tights make it to marked down, It’s rare to find solid black. These are my favourite nulu tights, second to aligns. I hoped they would be a new core design. I was so disappointed when they sold through and never got restocked.

My wildcard purchase was the Navigation Stretch Jacket. I couldn’t decide between the vest and the jacket. It’s an out-there color but as much as I love black, come January I’m going to want the cheerful. I love the retro glam look of it, but without a hood I didn’t want to bite at full price.

I purchased a few Christmas gifts as well, socks for my kids, some small accessories for little gifts. I’m still scrolling around the site because it seems like it took several hours for all items to fully drop and I’m still discovering new items.

What did you guys order? Let me know in the comments. I love hearing what you scored on markdown.

lululemon try-ons | Wunder Under Matte Black Foils + Define Jacket Cropped *Gold

by Cristina November 25, 2020
written by Cristina

Quick lululemon try-ons today. I made it to two lululemon stores yesterday quite by fluke on my way to do some errands and got to check out the Black Friday racks, and the new product releases. I typically try to stick to online shopping for Black Friday, but this year there where no lineups so I popped my head in to check things out. I’ve already made some online Black Friday purchases and I’ll share those in another post with you once they arrive.

lululemon fitting room try-ons wunder under high rise crop foil matte black

First up are these Wunder Under High-Rise Crop 23″  Foil in Matte Black Foil.

I didn’t appreciate online that the ‘foil’ isn’t actually a metallic shiny finish which is why initially I overlooked them. Shiny tights are unforgiving!! I did order the Energy Bra in Matte Copper though and that purchase was inspired by the flashy peloton trainer outfits that keep me motivated.

These are a faux leather look, and probably the best faux leather I’ve ever seen. They are a zillion times better than the vegan leather Aritzia Daria pant. There. I said it. They are even a better price than the Daria pant. This years foil wunder unders are more matte than last year’s, and because of that more universally wearable.

These are my usual size 10 and they are quite fitted and compressive. When I touched the material on the display my first thought was that they didn’t feel really nice. They seemed a bit stiff and like they wouldn’t stretch at all. I was so wrong. Once on these feel really great! They feel just like wearing luxtreme. They are definitely not cozy, but they feel compressive, supportive and they move with you. I like the idea of feeling sucked in and smoothed out so these are the type of leggings I would dress up with a great pair of boots, a long slouchy knit or a blazer + tee shirt combo. Or, I’d wear these on that Metallica Peloton ride. They even look amazing with this Soft Ambitions Pullover I got from the Black Friday rack.

I would have loved to have tried the size up for comparison but the size up and most other sizes are sold out online and in stores in the black. There are more size options for the copper. I didn’t try the copper on, but actually I really like those too. They look like a camel coloured leather pant and I think they would look beautiful styled the same way you would style black leather pants.

lululemon define jacket cropped *gold

The Define Jacket Cropped Gold is another winner for those of you that love cropped jackets. I think this one is so cute. I love what they’ve done with the off centre gold block letters logo. It’s so fresh how they’ve scaled the logo and used text destruction to emphasize the cropped fit.

I typically take a size up in Define Jackets and go to a 12, but I think because of the cropped fit on this one and the length of my torso (and my tum-tum) I would have liked it more on me two sizes up. I also prefer how it looks online floating off the lower ribs, but I have a really wide rib cage so it hugs me more there. If you are short torso’d or hourglass, definitely give this one a try. It was made for you!

Styling this jacket is best with a form fitting top like a nulu CRB, swiftly LS, or best of all, the Align Tank, Wunder Train Cropped LS or Power Pivot Tank. It doesn’t work as well with a loose fitting t-shirt as you can see here.

I ordered the Energy Bra High Neck Long Line Zip and I’m so excited to get it now that I’ve seen the logo detailing on it. I think that would look great with this jacket as well. Overall, I love this years Special Edition items. I love the glam look paired with the edgy boxer style pieces. Reminds me of the big gold championship belt boxers get.

lululemon wish list + gift ideas to treat your lululemon besties

by Cristina November 20, 2020
written by Cristina

This holiday season I am so excited to be partnering with lululemon on a series of fun holiday posts. lululemon is sponsoring this post and has sent me this amazing outfit which includes my very first down parka. I’ve been blogging about lululemon since 2010… and this is My FIRST EVER winter parka if you can believe it. A lululemon parka has been on my holiday wish list for years! I’m so excited to finally have one. And it’s this gorgeous, festive dark red! lululemon winter items are seriously my favourite and the jackets especially  are pinnacle for me.

On my holiday wish list for the past....mmmm...4 years?

Parka jackets are a tough fit for pear shaped figures. especially short-petite pear shapes like me. Often, when parkas fit well enough over the hips they are too overwhelming everywhere else. Not this one though. This a-lined down quilted parka is so flattering and fits very comfortably. I can easily wear this  zipped up all the way while driving.  It feels really luxurious to have a well-fitting proper winter coat. I don’t know why, but coats as a gift always feel so mothering and nurturing.  Maybe it reminds me of  screaming at my kids out the van door to ‘TAKE YOUR JACKETS! Don’t you see it’s FREEZING?!!’, or my mother screaming the exact same thing to me to this day. I really don’t want my kids to feel even one degree too cold. lululemon has several coats this year that have caught my eye and have made it firmly onto my Christmas wish list.

On my holiday wish list this year: all the jackets!

holiday wish list

With two brand new puppies simultaneously house training, this sleet street long jacket has come in so handy. I am outside in freezing downpours at least three times per hour. When one pup decides to take her time and sniff blades of grass,  the other one that’s finished can cuddle up inside my jacket for warmth.

Thank you to lululemon for this fabulous opportunity, and for generously providing me with this outfit. Details of  what I’m wearing are right below. As always, I monetize my site with affiliate links. All opinions are my own and all content is driven solely by my discretion.

Shareable Wish Lists

Did you know that lululemon has these new wish list features available on the app? They’ve given their old wish list a major upgrade by making them shareable in two ways. Via text, or QR code. You can also organize multiple wish lists for different people in your life or for different occasions.

The recipient sees the exact item in the correct size and color you are wanting, and all they need to do is add it to their shopping cart. Nobody needs to even think or guess… It’s as simple as just adding it to the shopping cart from the comfort of home. No need to go to the mall and look for parking. Isn’t that it’s own gift?  If they do go to the store though, they can just hold their phone up with confusion and show the wish list to an educator and they will pull the right item for you.  I created a little video here for you to see how amazing this new wish list is.

gift ideas for your lululemon loving besties

This gift guide isn’t exclusive to your lululemon besties, but my besties are who I had in mind for my gift guide. When I say besties I don’t just mean best friends or those within my inner familiar circle, I mean Best People. Or rather, the best bi@*ches. I have so many women in my life right now where lululemon is the ultimate gift for them and I really want to honour them as best bi@*ches.

My daughters dance teacher; volleyball coach; long term support teacher; doctors; my best friends; my mom; my sister; my sisters in law….my mother in law… and that’s just the women in my life. I’ll share some more wish lists in another post but today I really wanted to focus on our besties. Or rather, the best bi@*ches out there.. The women who nurtured us during uncertain and weird times.  The women who spent this entire year nurturing everyones needs, forgetting their own. Or even the women I know who struggled through it.

My nice list.

Specifically I’m picturing my daughters dance teacher who dedicated this past year to zoom classes, and went from 1-2 live classes per week, to daily zoom classes (for free!!). She made sure to check in with her girls every single day to see  how their days where going.

She went from being an ultra competitive dance teacher, to shifting her focus entirely to fostering healthy habits and positive mindset. She helped her older girls who where supposed to travel to Ireland for world championships this year cope with the disapointment. She reminded the girls the entire time to work hard and work on goals no matter what was going on around them. Teaching them each day  to celebrate each others goals, progress and successes no matter how small.  And to mark accomplishments earned and goals met in a different ways other than medals. She provided meaningful focus.

I’m also specifically thinking of that support teacher who is there year after year and knows my kid so well, and looked out for her during some scary times. Specifically checked-in and kept connections going, and eased some of the burden from me by making sure she was doing ok and she was looked out for, even if virtually.

Or, our family doctor who is also a young mom and a cancer survivor and runs her own very busy practice of primarily elderly patients. She has cared for her patients all year selflessly allaying fears, supporting us through homeschooling issues, kids with anxiety,  back to school fears. She reminded us to come in for flu shots and check-ins, and she accommodated kids who have missed too much school already by doing online appointments. Giving a physical hug even throughout all of this, because she felt it was so essential to do so.

Check out my gift guide which you can shop by clicking on the little icons. I have a lot of little stocking stuffers on here but those will be in addition to the chocolate/coffee/wine gifts I usually gift. For my main  best bi@*ches I told you about, they will get the pretty Scuba Hoodie Plush ( perfect I think to take the place of a hug ) and Align Tights and the On My Level Bag Large which I love.

lululemon face masks – are they any good?

by Cristina November 19, 2020
written by Cristina

Where you lucky enough to score lululemon face masks on Tuesday’s upload? I read that they sold through 36,000 within the hour. They sold out, but I thought I’d share my thoughts with you anyways, since they may restock at some point. Also because they are being hotly debated across social media. Why are they being hotly debated you ask? Well, they are a ‘one ply’ mask. YMMV on that issue.

Before I go further I want to state the very obvious. I have no medical training. You should not take any medical recommendations or advice from this blog or consider it expert advice. This is simply my opinion as a consumer and based on my own observations about fit, practical daily use and aesthetics. You should defer to you medical doctors advice on which non-medical face covering is suitable for you. Please follow guidance provided by your local health and government authorities.

lululemon face masks. the glass slipper.

lululemon face masks, the best most comfortable face masks

the issue with face masks for some people

Both my oldest daughter and I really struggle with non-medical face masks, each of us for different reasons. My youngest daughter and my husband feel no discomfort wearing masks and it’s no big deal to them. They can just wear any ol mask I buy them. Here in Vancouver, although it’s not mandated that everyone wear masks, it’s required in every public indoor space.

The problem I experience with face masks is that I have annoying nasal issues. I have severely swollen turbinates in my nose, and a deviated septum. I will probably have a nose job sometime in the near future to repair this. Fingers crossed I can do it this year. For some reason, mouth breathing in a mask creates a lot of heat, and sweaty condensation. It’s not fun, and very frustrating. Cue the mouth breather jokes.

My daughter has no problem wearing a mask and is happy to wear one at all times in school. If only they didn’t hurt her ears and conflict with her hearing aids.

The first problem is that her over the ear hearing aids already add pressure and weight on her ears. When an elastic strap is added over the ears on top of her hearing aid tubes, it’s quite painful.

The other issue is that the straps shift her hearing aids in and out as she moves or talks. This creates a terrible screeching feedback sound inside her ears from her hearing aids. It’s a nightmare. Everyone around her also hears the static feedback.

The third problem unfortunately really can’t be helped. Her reliance on non-verbal communication to fill gaps she missed in conversation is seriously impaired by facial coverings. Facial expressions are a huge part of communication, and for some it’s crucial. People get really rude and hostile when you ask them to repeat themselves if they don’t immediately see hearing aids. Sometimes it can be a real safety issue when she’s not receiving crucial information.

the design

lululemon face masks

I’m going to get right to the punchline and tell you that I love this mask. It’s the best mask I’ve worn in the past 7 months. It’s so bloody comfortable and I just wore it for the entire day, to a Dr.’s appointment, and even kept it on in the car. I went to take a sip of my coffee and realized I was still wearing my mask. Added bonus, you can sing along to Christmas carols in the car and other drivers don’t know you are singing.

It’s not an over the ear design. Instead it has two adjustable straps that rest against the back of your head. There aren’t any pressure points around your ears, but you get a really nice snug fit over your face with evenly distributed pressure. My other mask are all loose over my cheek and nose area so they constantly slip down, or up over my eyes. When I’m talking, my cheeks move a lot which is what shifts the masks so much. This formed mask also creates a really nice gap where your mouth is. The fabric sits well away from your mouth. I think that’s the most comfortable thing for me and what made this mask feel really breathable. The tight fit around my cheeks and nose and the space around my mouth made it feel really airy. It’s more insulated.

The straps are adjustable so the mask sits quite snug against my face. This is actually genius because it means I’m not constantly fussing with the mask and readjusting it. I’m not constantly taking it on and off as I enter and exit locations, or leaving it on surfaces or in jacket pockets.

Removing the mask is better with this strap design. Correctly donning and doffing masks is something the general public is not doing correctly. Ever see someone hold a mask in their hand along with their car keys and wallet? Or wear their mask over their chin? This mask comes off easily by using one hand, and handling it by the strap. It also hangs around your neck when you aren’t wearing it over your mouth which is a great feature.

You can easily pull the mask back up, using one hand and pulling it up by the straps, never touching the mask itself or your face. The fussiest part of this mask is pulling long hair over the top strap. It does work well with long hair, you just need to pull your hair up over that top strap. Once on the strap is hidden and you hair will lay normally. When you are wearing the mask and talking, the mask stays in place without moving with your cheeks.

What’s the best type of non-medical face mask in my opinion? the mask that someone is actually willing to wear consistently, and correctly.

What’s the best type of non-medical face mask in my opinion? the mask that someone is actually willing to wear consistently, and wear correctly. A mask comfortable enough to wear for extended periods of time and that gets forgotten on your face. It’s not the mask constantly needing adjusting, that you have to take on and off repeatedly as you enter and exit locations, or the mask that you wear over your chin when you can get away with it. The mask you wear correctly and consistently is better for everyone than a poorly worn, or poorly constructed three layer mask or one you are wearing simply for the sake of compliance.

the material

This mask is made of thick structured material called ultralu which Is the very same material used in Enlite Bras. It reminds me of thick scuba gear. This is not thin like legging material, it’s quite thick and it holds it’s shape just like a bra does and it moves with you and molds to your face. The inside has bonded fabric overtop of the centre seam which helps create the shape (and a bit of an added layer over your mouth and nose. See how the mask holds its shape in the first photo? It’s holding form the same way a lightly padded wireless bra does.

The thickness also muffles sound quite a bit more than other masks so you may notice you need to speak a little louder in this one.

The mask is single layer ultralu fabric, without a pocket for an additional filter. you can easily place a filter inside though it would just rest against your face. Given the density of this fabric and the very tightly knit ultralu, I don’t think added layers are necessary, but again YMMV. In fact, my three layer masks are extremely flimsy by comparison which you can see below, although they do technically conform to some guidances.

lululemon face masks, non-medical face masks for hearing aid wearers, non-medical face masks that work with over the ear hearing aids

medical face masks and hearing aids

Here Sofia is wearing the mask with the straps lower on her head at the same line her over-the-ear mask usually sits. The straps are against her head, and not touching her ear at all which she finds incredibly comfortable. Normally, the elastic sits over her ear underneath her hearing aid tubes, or overtop of the tubes getting tangled up. Pressure points with hearing aids can be so bad they cause bleeding. Ear molds that don’t sit snugly in place inside the ear or that shift will cause pressure points, friction and bleeding. When Sofia talks and moves her mouth the lululemon mask doesn’t move at all or shift her hearing aids out of her ears like the other ones do.

compared to my other masks…

lululemon face masks

This is my usual mask. I have the Herschel face mask in several colors and although I do like it because it has a the metal wire that shapes to my nose, and it’s lightweight, it lifts constantly. Aesthetically, I like the way this one looks. It also suits the shape of my face best. I thought I’d found my best fit.

what’s the problem with these ones?

I get a ton of trapped heat inside this mask and get super sweaty. It also really aggravates the rosacea on my cheeks which my Dr. noted on my last visit. A problem I didn’t have with the lululemon mask at all. Some times I need to be sneaky and pull this mask away from my face to get some circulation in there and so my mask stops sticking to me.

I thought that trapped heat problem would go away once summer was over, but it’s the exact same no matter the outside temperature. I can’t wear this or any of my other masks with my sunglasses because they fog up. The Herschel mask also constantly shifts on me so I have to move it back up over my nose, or pull it down and reshape the metal to pinch it tighter to my nose. The second I am out of the door, I rip this thing off of me and stuff it in my pocket until I have to wear it again.

In these photos you can see that although this is a three layer mask, each layer is extremely thin and gauzy. I think it came with a filter, but I lost it right aways.

lululemon face masks

Because I get so sweaty and uncomfortable in my other mask, I had started wearing these disposable masks again. These single layered surgical masks are a bit more tolerable because it lifts well away from my face and lets air circulate in and out so I’m not quite as sweaty as with my other masks. It’s not at all a fitted mask though and it still quite unpleasant. How many times does one reuse these disposable masks before their efficacy degrades?

This is the other mask I wear which is from Aritzia. It’s two layers, but it’s a cheap, loosely woven linen. It has no metal wire, and no shaping to it so the fit is awful. It also traps heat and makes me really sweaty under it. I keep these in the car though in case my kids forget their preferred masks for school they can just grab one of these.

lululemon face masks

my other mask is this camo one which I purchased at a drug store. It’s also really thin gauzy material on the second layer, and the outward layer is a polyester fabric. It has the same problem as the linen mask above. no shaping, traps heat and moisture, moves around a lot, is generally uncomfortable. Sometimes it suctions to my face. I actually have another mask from Herschel that I removed the inner pocket fabric from thinking that it would make it more comfortable. I was going to call that one my ‘outside mask’. When I cut that layer of gauze it ruined the mask. All of a sudden, I couldn’t keep the mask from suctioning to my nose constantly.

And that’s it. I have a box of N95 (industrial, not medical) that I have just in case which I got from my dad who kept his industrial supplies when he retired, but they aren’t practical for day to day life use. I hope this post is helpful to you in seeing the features on the lululemon mask that I really appreciate.

The lululemon upload is live! lots of heavy web traffic today caused the lululemon site to be glitchy and crash a few times. I suspect it’s because of the lululemon face masks being covered on Men’s Health and various other publications.

I like that these masks are not over the ears. My daughter wears hearing aids in both ears and over the ear face masks are extremely painful for her as they put additional pressure on her ear canal, which already has the over the ear hearing aids to contend with. They fabric also creates loud feedback as it moves the hearing aids in and out, and is generally a huge nuisance to her. Masks in general are extremely difficult socially for some hearing impaired people. I like the feature of being able to wear this mask around your neck so that you can pop it up when you need it. I haven’t tried them on yet, but I’m hopeful that these will be great for us. Tons of color options… but strangely no black.

Lots of things I’m loving today although it was a smallish upload. I really like the Scuba Hoodie Plush in Heathered chambray. I also love the combo of the Align Tank Gold with the Align Crops Gold. Scuba Oversized 1/2 Zip Hoodie is tempting me in the heathered core ultralight grey.

Weekend Chatter 11/14: Second Wave, Beyoncé x Peloton

by Cristina November 14, 2020
written by Cristina

Welcome to the first official Weekend Chatter 11/14 blog post! If you are bored and don’t mind a bit of rambling, here are the current events from my corner of the world.

Did you check out my posts this week?

The Weekend Chatter: what’s going on in the world and in my life these days.

The second covid wave is here. In British Columbia (specifically Greater Vancouver), we just had 42 people test positive for covid linked to one BC gym.

Our provincial health officer has temporarily ordered closed extra sports activities for kids, gyms restricted to non hyper-respiration inducing workouts (individual strength only) and specifically spin classes. Given this, most people are recreating the gym experience at home, using tech, wether it be zoom classes, youtube or content enabled equipment.

are gym workouts risky during the second wave?

One big conversation happening in my neck of the woods are gyms during covid and the covid second wave. Are they too risky? I wanted to discuss this here in the Weekend Chatter because I want to know what you think, and how your fitness is going. Are you going into the gym?

I think in many cases gyms are pretty safe when exercising precautions and with smart covid mitigation protocols. adequate spacing, ventilation, masks, sanitization etc. The most important thing of course are the members being conscientious and buying-in to self-reporting, and self isolating when necessary. If a gym has a strong, tight knit community it’s easier to implement expectations and general conscientiousness. In gyms that aren’t community centred, and that don’t have this type of camaraderie, I think it can be fairly risky.

My gym has had extremely strict measures in place that at times felt like overkill. Because of their dedication and planning in keeping everyone safe they are able to enact a different phase of their covid plans and keep the gym open with the health departments ok. I’ve not gone to the gym in 7 months not because of Covid, or fear of covid. I just got used to working out at home and outdoors over the summer and I really like it. I do miss my gym people though and will go back once times are less ‘strange’. SoulCycle has just announced they are closing down all Canadian locations until 2021

covid fitness purchases

Second wave and covid fitness purchases. Crazy at the time. Makes perfect sense now. I’ve been loving my covid inspired fitness purchases, especially my Peloton. I’m really happy with it now that the second wave of covid is here causing new lockdown measures. When I first got the bike my husband thought I was insane for buying a piece of fitness equipment that he thought for sure would be a clothing rack. I insisted because we had purchased a few weights and things and created a small at home gym, and I had been wanting the Peloton for years. Now he’s probably using my Peloton more than I am. We’ve already had the argument about putting the seat back down to my settings so that it still feels like it’s my bike.

I’m still waiting on the Lululemon – Mirror availability for Canada but once it’s available here I for sure want to get it.

The thing I love most about my Peloton is the constant stream of new content. There are thousands of classes available on demand, and new classes added every day. If you are mildly ADD like I am and you need fresh content to keep your attention, you will love the Peloton app. There are always themed rides available and the Peloton trainers each have their own styles, personalities and playlists. I tend to stick to my favourites (Tunde and Alex Toussaint) but I also venture to other trainers because they have interesting content, or a class intensity/style I’m searching for.

Beyoncé and Peloton have just announced a multi-year partnership. The partnership will see Beyoncé’s help curate class soundtracks using her music for cycling, running, strength, bootcamp, yoga and meditation. Beyoncé’s curated workouts are in honor of Historically Black Colleges and Universities’ homecoming season, and having to adapt to homecoming virtually. Beyoncé is the most requested artist to feature in Peloton’s playlists.

I took one of Beyoncé’s classes the other day with my two favourite Peloton trainers and really enjoyed it. Honestly I enjoyed it mostly because it was my two favourite trainers together. Both Tunde and Alex Toussaint are my go-toos and are probably a good 90% of my workouts.

A few new lululemon items this week. I picked up the Chambray Radiant Jacket after loving it in Submarine. The color is a touch more grey compared to the online picture, and compared to other chambray items, but I don’t care. I love it! Another love is the Sleek City Jacket. It’s by no means a heavy duty winter jacket, but it’s a great mild winter or fall jacket option. Size up in this! It’s slightly cropped, but fairly fitted if you have boobs or shoulders.

The holidays have exploded into my home… my husband really loves decorating for the holidays. He collects Santas, and various other festive statues. He delights in staging the house for Christmas, and sharing pictures with his family because they all also love Christmas. They all send photos back and forth of their holiday decor. I step back and let it unfold because although I do love Christmas, I’m kind of lazy about ‘traditions’. This just perfectly reflects the differences in how we both grew up. My parents usually threw up some lights, picked up a small tree from the Ikea parking lot and called it a day. Christmas dinner rarely involved a turkey. His family always went all out, and continued this even after kids moved out and grandkids where born. This tree and peg Santa are my contributions this year.

What are your holiday traditions? For Diwali, Hanukkah, Eid Al-Fitr or Christmas? Do you decorate all out?

This week was fall premier week for primetime TV shows and almost every single TV show had some version of covid as the storyline, although some just had it as background context and didn’t delve headlong into it. I think I preferred the gentle context reminders. Grey’s and This Is US where shows that covered it in depth. I thought This Is Us was more nuanced, but definitely more heavy. Grey’s was a tribute to healthcare workers which I definitely appreciated. I did like both episodes a lot, but it wasn’t that relaxing escape I like in a TV show. I’m really looking forward to watching The Crown which premiers on Netflix tomorrow.

What have you been watching? Did you feel one way or another about the covid storylines?

The lululemon upload is live!

….but first… PUPPIES! Introducing Ruby & Esmeralda. My new work companions. These girls are such a handful and so much fun. We are just loving having dogs in the house again. I am holding my computer while following them around (while doing upload) because they are a menace to shoes, power cords and nice furniture. They work best together when dividing and conquering. As you can see, Ruby is not quite feeling the City Adventurer Backpack Nano (AKA puppy backpack), but she’s warmed up to it once she learned it would be used for treats.

Are any of you guys raising puppies right now? This has definitely been the year of the puppy.

Finally! Finally the French Press Align Crops have uploaded! I’ve been waiting for French Press Aligns of any length to upload. I of course ordered those as well as the Chambray Ready To Rulu 7/8 Joggers. I’m kicking myself for not ordering the pretty Wunder Puff Jacket in Heathered Plumful last week and the Submarine Aligns. Both are now almost fully sold out.

Did you order anything?

Starbucks Red Cup Day! Starbucks Holiday Cups 2020

by Cristina November 6, 2020
written by Cristina

It’s Starbucks Red Cup Day! The Starbucks Holiday Cups are here to reminding you that CHRISTMAS IS 49 DAYS AWAY! The Holiday Cups sort of mark the start of the holidays, in retail – consumer world at least. But Canadians don’t officially start holidaying it up until after Remembrance Day.

in the news:

Whole Foods learned that lesson the hard way today when they attempted to ban poppies from their employee uniforms. All of Canada said ‘sorry, but hells no’. That’s not how we do. Government officials at all levels and from all parties spoke and the Veterans Affairs minister had to let them know how culturally insensitive it is and that they need to reconsider. It was pretty much unanimous everywhere (except for on twitter where the algorithms display something altogether different). The commonwealth customs here are strong and proud. Whole Foods eventually capitulated after having dug their heels in with employees all week.

These festive cups are about as much as I’ll do before November 11th. I’ll accumulate a few holiday items and stash them away until after November 11th when they can respectfully be displayed. Canadians have this unspoken rule where we can ignore holiday displays at Costco in September, but don’t turn on Christmas lights before November 11th.

Starbucks Holiday Collection

I’ve been saving my Starbucks Rewards for about 7 months now in anticipation of the holiday colletion. Canadian Starbucks used to only allow you to use points on items under $20. Now you can use them against your entire total.

I’m really pleased at the collection this year so I’m glad I saved my rewards. I love the pastel pink, green and glittery candy apple red combos.

Do you have a favourite from the collection this year? Did you get to Starbucks on Starbucks red cup day? It’s always funny going into Starbucks on Red Cup Day and seeing my friends and neighbours scrambling to get to the cups. The phone is always ringing off the hook with customers asking what’s in stock. The refillable holiday cup is invariably sold out within the hour of opening at 5am. Thanks to the .50 refill discount attached.

If you missed out on your favourite ‘Carry the Merry’ holiday cup on Starbucks red cup day, don’t fret. Since Startbucks Holiday Cups are pretty collectible there is a big resale market online. Usually they are overpriced but you can definitely find some at retail price or lower.
