Store Report ~ Lots of New Colors!

by Cristina February 28, 2011
written by Cristina

I stopped in at my local lulu today and saw quite a few new lovely items. Scoop Neck Tank in Wren/Iris Wee Stripe, Cool Racerback Tank in Split Pea Micro Stripe, Modern Racer Tank in Grey and Black Tropic Stripe, Hot Class Bra, head bands, Stratus Crops in Unicorn Tears, Hot Class Tank in Violaceous and Wren and Coal Studio Pants.

I purchased the Hot Class Tank of course and the Wren Studio pants as the combination of those two colors are stunning together and perfect for Spring with gold  Havaianas. The Wren Crops are keepers for sure since I use crops a lot in Spring/Summer, I’m just not sure if I’m keeping the pant version yet. The pants can easily be turned into crops of this length but then you have the folded fabric sitting underneath and the weight of that extra fabric so it doesn’t look as nice as these or feel as light. I also saw a new Live Healthy Wrap in Heathered Iris/Snow Cone (same pinky color as the Pace Setter Pullover) and I really loved the color but I’d like to see it in the Calm and Cozy. I inquired with a few educators about that and they both told me they hadn’t seen any plans for it. She mentioned that they didn’t expect to see more of the Calm and Cozy sweaters soon and that it is doing really well, far better then they anticipated. So maybe in later Spring we will see it in Heathered Snow Cone/Iris.

I was tempted by the Modern Racer Tank but passed on it since it’s black/grey and would rather hold out for a more tempting color in the Modern. Although now that I see a picture of it, it looks super cute. The Cool Racerback Tank in Split Pea was very pretty but the color just didn’t look like it would be flattering on me so I decided to pass and wait for the Iris Micro Stripe version which I think will work better for me.

New Grooves! Unicorn Tears with Black Contrast. I love the waist band on these.

How It’s Going Week 4 ~ Half Marathon Training

by Cristina February 28, 2011
written by Cristina

This past week I took off from running since I was feeling both a lack of motivation as well as I was fighting the nasty bug my kids have had and we’ve had record breaking cold temperatures at the last half of the week. It all started with the choice last Sunday to have a nap with my free time instead of going on a measly 3 mile run. And then I just kept putting off my runs because of a persistent headache and lack of convenient options for times to get out and then finally we got very cold on Wednesday/Thursday/Friday with windchill at -18* at one point and for us West Coasters we’re just pansies when it comes to ‘windchill’.

Yesterday and today we got a huge dumping of snow which I’ve up till now been able to avoid running in such conditions, but because I took last week off I had no choice today. I had to run. My relief parent/grandparent babysitting options are even fewer this week since my mom has had to fly to Spain on an emergency trip to see my grandmother who has had 3 strokes in the past week. It’s been very tense and stressful worrying about my grandmother so besides having to run today for practical reason, I really, really needed the stress relief and time away to process. Running is so cathartic that it’s just necessary to get out there and run when I’m feeling stressed and worried and I’m so glad I braved the snow today and got out there.

Blerg!! The snow!

This weather can’t stop me if I plan on getting out there consistently this next month and sticking with my training plan while my mom is away, so this afternoon I went out and purchased these Yaktrax Pro MD cleats I’ve pictured below. I also wore my Smart Wool Running Socks I posted about the other day. Initially I was a bit afraid that my feet would get soaked and freeze before I was finished my run but I’m very impressed that the socks kept my feet comfortable. They did get wet but the wool socks seemed to suck the water away from my foot and also kept them warm. I wore my Dash Crops, Switly Tech Long Sleeve and my Hustle Jacket and really, the long sleeve probably made me too warm. When I got home and showered my thighs were very pink but I was pretty comfortable during my run if not a touch too warm. This Saturday I’m up to 8 miles on my training plan but I may jump to 9 depending on how I feel that day since I took the week off. I did two weeks at 7 miles because I have a bit of time buffer between the end of my training plan and the race day so I can modify my training plan as I feel the need. It makes me feel a little less tied down to be able to switch things around as life happens.

NB Minimus

I’m also in the market for new running shoes in the next month or so and I’ve been considering either getting the same New Balance 1064 runners I’m currently using which are a neutral gate but heavily cushioned shoe or getting New Balance NB Minimus ‘barefoot technology’ running shoe with very little to no cushioning. I’m happy with my 1064’s but I’m also really intrigued by barefoot running , especially after this Ted.com talk by Christopher McDougal on Natural Running. Do any of you runners out there have advice on transitioning to these types of runners? Or opinions on wether or not it’s a good idea to do this half way in my training?

The half marathon I’m running in May, BMO Vancouver Marathon posted a really cool video clip of the full marathon course as well as the half. When I need to motivate myself or psych myself up to get out there I’ll turn to this video because it’s getting me so excited . Do all marathons post videos like these? Such an ingenious thing to do. Anyways, this week I’m getting out there for my 4 runs -rain, sleet or snow or pitch dark night I’m getting out there because it makes me feel good. And hopefully I don’t end up with this horrible cold that everyone around me seems to be getting.

Dance Studio Crops Coal (also available in Wren). priced at $86.

The crops also have the drawcord at the hem to customize the length. I may need these in Wren but not sure I want to give up my Dance Studio Pants. I’ve been using my Raw Blue ones very often lately, especially on rainy days when wet jean hems are a real bother.

  • Light and loose crop to layer over your hot yoga gear and take you to the studio or gym
  • Swift is wicking, quick drying, lightweight and breathable with 2-way stretch
  • High rise, comfortable elastic waistband with stretch drawcord which keeps pant secure and in place
  • Stretch drawcord in hem allows for pant adjustability
  • Front pocket to stash what you need
  • Preshrunk

Hot Class Bra Unicorn Tears/Black

This to me looks like an all black version of Unicorn Tears which I like a lot more then the multi colored version. The black looks like ink dropped in a glass of water (diffusion). I’m thinking that is how the Unicorn Tears print was created but the Black just looks more Inky to me.

New Color! Micro Stripe Wren Cool Racerback

by Cristina February 27, 2011
written by Cristina

This is a new Cool Racerback out in Ala Moana Lululemon and according to reports it’s Micro Stripe Wren. I would have never have guessed this was Wren but the Micro Stripes really do play with the colors. To me this looks very, very green where as Wren just looks Brown with a touch of green but because the Micro Stripes are Bright Yellow with Wren Wee Stripe from a distance it looks green. I suspect the bright yellow (Split Pea?) is actually Rubber Ducky Yellow which makes me really excited because I’m infatuated with that color.

These are the Cropped Dance Studio Pants in Wren and also available in Coal.

Power Y Tank & Stratus Wunder Under Crops

Love how the Power Y looks on her but I’m hoping for a Cool Racerback Tank in this print.

I’ve never liked the Stratus Wunder Unders before but I really like these ones and the Violaceous ones. If I worked out in a gym those would be mine.

SO other then my purchase of the Rubber Ducky Scuba which I am so happy about because I have been dying for it, I think a lot of people were disappointed to not see items such as the Calm and Cozy Sweaters, Wren Dance Studio Pants (These are now hiding in the regular pants page on the US side) or the Lilac Snow Pace Setter Pullover and the Vinyasa Scarves. I was late to the game this morning because it’s my daughters first birthday 🙂 and we wanted to do presents with her and pictures and have lots of cuddles with her before Daddy went to work. I happened to peak online while making myself coffee and the very first thing I saw was the Rubber Ducky Scuba so I quickly ordered that and went back to the party.

What did you guys order today? Where you happy with the upload?

Looks like they found another box of items to upload..

A New Color/Print! Iris Wee Stripe

by Cristina February 24, 2011
written by Cristina

This came in from an Australian Product Notification. I love this Iris color which looks like a mauvy brown purple but I also love the stripe for it’s potential softness factor. I find Heathered Wee Stripe/Micro Stripe prints to be as soft as running luon for some reason.  The Cool Racerback Tank is wishlisted!
