The Lululemon Upload

It was outside of my comfort zone and felt bulky. Now that it’s gotten really cold in Vancouver the function of it has won me over, and now I very much appreciate the design. I think it looks adorable on. Like you I am short and curvy and just assumed it was too overwhelming to my shape so I shyed away from it. I get lots of compliments on it though.

I’ve been buying and returning a lot of stuff that hasn’t been available locally.

Too many clothes simply don’t fit right anymore. No more Speed Tights, no more Speed Shorts, and Dance Studio Pants III that pinch in all the wrong places … so I just don’t buy those types of items from Lulu. The only reason I’d spend $100 on a pair of leggings was that the cut was unreal. Now, not flattering. Sure the fabric and functionality are good, but if I shudder every time I go to put them on, it’s not happening.

Colors are much, much better than a few years ago. They’re definitely on an upswing, but the brand just doesn’t speak to me as it used to. It’s a mall brand. There’s no “heylululemon”, there’s no person touch to the clothes, like the hidden expressions, unexpected hints of color, and hidden pockets. With Ivviva being discontinued, those cute styles aren’t there to maybe, possibly influence the women’s line, so we can expect more boring, more safe, more knocking off Athleta.. The addiction is kicked.

I will say that in the shops I’ve been in lately, the GECs were exceptional. At least in my area, they still have that going for them.

And I’m not really complaining so much as observing that whatever that Lulu magic was wore off for me. Whatever drove that compulsion to collect is gone. It’s a good thing, but I’m a bit sad. I’m not alone. There was a real camaraderie among us Lulu addicts, but now, how many comments per week? 5? 7? And where is Luluaddict? No posts since July? It’s just a bit sad. Still, I’m glad to see the company successful and out of the hands of those nightmares who were running it into the ground a few years ago.

Maybe I shouldn’t have had that third glass of wine…

I’m definitely buying less, but I still love my Lululemon leggings. My tops, jackets, and bras are from a variety of brands, but my leggings are exclusively Lululemon. The specific fit ( number sizing rather than the more generic XS, S, M, L, XL) and technical fabric choices make Lululemon my go to for leggings.

I tried the short and sweet Sherpa jacket on in store and had to have it! I usually wait for things to go on WMTM lately but this was worth the splurge! So soft, reversible and perfect fit. My store in NY had all three colors including the ivory but I opted for black

Got the Wunder Puff jacket in grey/blue, it is indeed wunderful. The color and fabric is gorgeous, soft and light, seems well made, fit is great considering the puffer style (I went one size down), like the hood. I am a little obsessive about how the inner collar color coordinates to the outer layer (prefer it to be identical), but in this case the black inner looks nice with the blue. Ready for the 3-4 walks a day with our giant Newfie!
