New Defines

Some helpful details thanks to the GEC on the new Define pricing ($108). The Static Plum is brushed luon along the back body and collar, the Lilac and Black are brushed luon throughout. I’m wearing my Stride with brushed luon and have to say the extra price is worth it. It’s a different feel from the brushed luon stride from August (Static Wave Stripe) which was soft and thicker then the others but not as soft as the new brushed luon versions.

Thanks Laura from GEC for reaching out and providing the details.

For those of you that are thinking of getting the Lilac Inspire Pullover here are some good pictures of it.
Still has the chaffing cotton ribbon detailing as you can see. For those of you (like me) that would like to wear this fitted top as a base layer.

Static Plum Cool Racerback – Upload Thursday

Static Plum Cool Racerback | Upload Thursday

Nothing too interesting uploaded today (for me at least) except the new layout on the website is a good improvement with bigger pictures. I like that you can see the list of colors bellow the pictures without having to leave the page. I also like that the bags are now being modelled so that we can get a sense of scale. Such an easy solution.  I’m more interested in the Run: Dash Pullover posted about bellow. Can’t wait for those.

***A reader just noticed the Defines have gone up in price. Sadly no brushed luon to show for the increase. The new price is $108.

What did you guys get today?

These shorts are pretty cute but I wish they came out in a longer length, perhaps slightly longer then the Groovy Run Shorts. They have the reflective yarn woven in to them and have a nice subtle print.

This is the Static Plum Cool Racerback that I got the other day but I’m still unsure about it. I wish it was just the matte static plum like the Power Y in Static Plum.

And of course. True to Lulu fashion the international site gets the Inspire Pullovers in new colors. Pisses me off really. Anyways, Teal Zeal and Lilac are really pretty.

New Run Pullover!

by Cristina October 14, 2010
written by Cristina

Thanks to readers for the tip offs. Keep em’ coming if you have them.

Run Dash Pullover in Wish Blue. Coming soon! This is from Australia so possibly next week or so we’ll be seeing this in the US and then in Canada. I’m loving the coral color in the bottom picture. Looks like it will also be available in Heathered Lilac, Heathered Teal Zeal and Heathered Black. I think I would get these in Teal Zeal and Lilac as they are the lighter more visible colors. I wore my Inspire Pullover the other night for a very dark run (hate night running) and I was thinking that I should have picked a more visible one. Although the static black is really pretty and looks great with every Cool Racerback I’ve worn under it. Especially my Pig Pink one. This Run Dash has some nice reflective strips on the arms and I think that’s my favourite placement for reflectivity. I wore my Brisk Arm Warmers the other night and I really liked how the reflectivity on the back of the arms were visible to drivers coming up behind me and also to the side. With swinging arm movement it’s hard to miss the reflective strips dancing around. Check out the ruffling along the reflective strip. Cute detail, hope it looks as cute in person.

New Photos: Inspire Pullover, Power Dance Tank, Heart Tank

by Cristina October 14, 2010
written by Cristina

Run: Inspire Pullover Heathered Lilac. This one sure is pretty but I don’t think I’ll be getting one. Those cotton contrast details and the back pocket really kill it for me. Pictured with the Run: Dash Tights. I like the reflective detail on it but not digging the rest of the pants.
Run: Dash Tights

Power Dance Tank in Coal Space Dye. I hadn’t seen this one before and it’s very pretty.

Heart Tank in Teal Zeal. I tried this one on again today in Plum and I was almost convinced I’d be buying it but both the size 8 & 10 didn’t make me happy. Both sizes had the issue of the bra fabric showing above the tank on the sides. Not sure why it was doing that but no amount of adjustments or sizing up could fix it. Also, the tank made my boobs look bigger (bonus) but also made them look kinda droopy. I think the detailing draws the eye down the breasts and not up at them, as though your boobs had eyebrows I guess. I may break down and get this tank anyways at some point because I really do love it in photographs, I love the plum and I love the straps and sweat heart neckline.

Upload Thursday Eve Musings

by Cristina October 13, 2010
written by Cristina

Hmm. lot’s of possibilities tomorrow since we have received the new Winter pallet items this past week. I want to see a big huge upload full of surprise items seeing as the last few uploads have been smaller and consisting of warmer weather tanks. I expect we’ll see those new Inspire Pullovers (Static Lilac, Static Plum, Teal Zeal) which are currently available in some US stores. I’m feeling frustrated (in a bad way) that we haven’t seen any of the fleecy, brushed luon (only a little bit), running luon wintery items that we had this time last year (and earlier than this). All of the other athletic stores are full of winter sport items and I’ve been feeling really tempted by other brand fleece sweaters. I need a nice snuggly fleece pullover to wear this weekend to the pumpkin patch and for trick or treating and dog walking. What’s the hold up lulu?? I missed out on the last 3 Fall/Winter Lululemon items because I was pregnant and never really stopped in much during those times. My winter Lululemon wardrobe is sadly lacking. Winter here in Vancouver is supposed to get unseasonably cold this year and I’m feeling rather nervous and unprepared.

Readers, what are you thinking we’ll see tomorrow?

Where’s the fleece?

A Bit On Clever Marketing.

by Cristina October 13, 2010
written by Cristina

Marketing is the process in which companies create customer interest.

We as consumers are getting very clever about when we’re being marketed to and can easily turn off our minds to what were seeing and hearing if we recognize it as an ad. Were so bombarded by ads and marketing every day all day that companies like the Gap and Lululemon need to find something that reaches through to us amidst all of the unexciting adds we tune out and ignore. When we don’t know that were being marketed to we stop and actually pay attention. Have you noticed a lot of Lululemon in Hollywood lately? that’s not accidental. Actors are basically walking billboards now. Yes, even reality show actors. They don’t pay for the clothing they wear and I doubt that the TV show does either. TV shows aren’t just selling add space during the commercial breaks. The trick to all of this though is that the consumer must not know we are being marketed to, otherwise it’s just not as effective. Personally I really like this type of marketing. It’s exciting and new and it works. Perhaps I’m totally wrong and The Gap did genuinely like the new logo, and Lulu genuinely was just poking fun at The Gap and the movie stars and  costume designers are actually walking in to stores looking for things to buy. I think when a company ‘pokes fun’ at another company through adds they’re actually doing each other a favour. unintentionally most times…but…I haven’t given The Gap much thought at all in many, many years. I also hadn’t heard about the new logo scandal until Lululemon changed their logo as a spoof on Facebook.

So tell me…what do you clever consumers think of all of this buzz? intentional or happy accident?

New Photos – Run Dash Pants, Belt It Up Pants, Braided Headband, Coal Pinnacle Jacket

by Cristina October 13, 2010
written by Cristina

Run Dash Tight The pants just had zero hanger appeal for someone short and short legged like myself. If your tall and lean and can pull off the polocross pants than I think you will like these but the wide band around the waist is too wide for me and the color blocking will only add bulk to my bigger legs. And on another note, check out her wicked nail polish.

Dog Whisperer Pants. Here you can get a better sense of the pocket detailing and how the outer layer can be pulled up.

Belt it out Pants. These do not appeal to me. Something about the strait leg and the seam details at the back thigh but offset to the outside. I think the belt is too small and sits too low for the size of the waistband and the belt loops. I dunno…am I wrong on this one? it just seems to me like the belt loops should have been shorter and maybe have the belt sit higher up.

Braided Headband. I wore my new black one today out and about and also for a run. I found it to be on the looser side and not tight enough to stay in place for vigorous activity because of my thick hair but perfect for wearing it casually as it looks cute on,  and I can wear it without crimping my hair. Usually if I chose to wear a tight hair band it crimps my hair I’m committed to wearing it for the rest of the day. I wore it for my run tonight layered on top of my old thick Satin pirouette headband so that I could have the added reflectivity that is woven in. I need tight hairbands for running because otherwise my hair escapes and drives me crazy, but I like the reflectivity in this hairband so I don’t mind wearing it on top of another one or even using it as a bracelet or hair elastic.

The Coal Pinnacle Jacket. It is probably my favourite one despite the fact that I love the color Ivy. This one actually has some really pretty senorita pink piping detail along the inside. I think it was on the inside of the lapel at the zipper but I’m not positive on the placement.

Power Dance Tank

Here is a picture of the black Power Dance Tank. You can’t really tell in this picture but in person the lower sheer luon portion is lighter and looks almost like it’s coal.
