The Upload

by Cristina September 8, 2011
written by Cristina

Kind of a disappointing upload today I think. It wasn’t bad, just missing the Run Full Tilt Long Sleeves and items in Raspberry. I think the stars of the upload today were the Full Tilt Pullovers and the Run Weightless Skirt and Run Full Tilt Skirt. I wonder why the Run Full Tilt Pullover in blue is It Blue and not Rocksteady, isn’t it the same color? Whatever it is, it’s an awesomely vibrant blue and I haven’t seen it look bad on anybody.

I ended up checking out with an item I’ve been eyeing online for a while, the Astro Wunder Unders in Heathered Black/Dewberry/Dewberry Wee Stripe. I tried these on the other day and they were so comfortable on and I loved that the waist didn’t cause muffin top. I still need to do a jumping test in them to make sure they wont ride down on me but I otherwise love the Heathered Black Luon and was hoping to get something in that. I liked the waist colors of some of the other Astro WU’s better but I really wanted the Heathered Black Luon for something different.

What did you order today?

Upload Thursday Eve Refresher

by Cristina September 7, 2011
written by Cristina

*Updating Post. I will continue to post product images from the product alerts to this post thru out the evening*

I am really looking forward to tomorrows upload despite the fact that I have already made my purchase from this weeks product drop. I’ve gotten the Full Tilt Pullover in Heathered Rocksteady and the Full Tilt Long Sleeve in Clear Sky. I also got the Raspberry V-Neck Swiftly and am in love with everything I got so far. It’s been a long, long time since I’ve made so many lulu purchases but these items will get a ton of use over the fall and winter months for both athletic purposes and for casual wear, and they are my most favourite items from Lulu. I am holding out hope that the mothership (lulu) has held back some top secret Raspberry running luon something or other only to be uploaded tomorrow to our delight. In which case I will buy a Raspberry something or other with guilt free abandon. I am sort of tempted by the Raspberry Swiftly LS but I can probably pass on that for now, I think I only use those in the Spring. I would love another V-Neck Swiftly but not sure the other colors are the right ones. Muted Mauve is really pretty and soft but it’s a second pink so I think I want to keep my fingers crossed that a power purple one will be made in my lifetime.  I also really like the Heathered Raspberry/Rose Scuba Hoodie but…I don’t need it and since it’s not technical it wont get a ton of use until the very, very cold months. I really need to work hard at talking myself down from that scuba but it’s the right thing to do. You know what I would really love to see uploaded tomorrow? A Cool Racerback in Raspberry or a Full Tilt LS/Pullover in Raspberry. That would make my millenia.

Also, random note. I am so, so missing my TV shows. Why is it that all of the fall lineup doesn’t start till the end of the month? I always loved that Upload Thursday happened on the same day that all of the really great tv shows where on.

What are you hoping for in tomorrows upload?

Well I Caved! (Run Full Tilt Pullover)

by Cristina September 6, 2011
written by Cristina

I am so silly! This morning I got it in my head that although I love my Run For Your Life Pullover in Royalty I would prefer to have this pullover instead and I would reach for it more then the RFYL. My preference is always soft running luon over luxtreme but the RFYL pullover was such a thin stretchy luxtreme that I could’t resist it when it came out, especially since I reluctantly passed on last years Cross Train Pullover with the same neckline.  I loved the colors it came in this year, especially Royalty, but I realized that in the end I will always grab my running luon tops before any of my luxtreme ones when going out for a run and so it didn’t make sense to pass on this pullover. I reluctantly exchanged the RFYL for this one today. I think the Run Full Tilt is more flattering on me anyways and maybe I can get the RFYL pullover at a later date on markdown (they were already accidentally marked down a few weeks ago) or on the exchange pages. Ah well. I also impulsively grabbed the Run Speed Skirt in Coal Shale Stripe in 10 Tall and I am even more bummed now that it’s not 4 way stretch. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the print on me but the 4 way makes the skirt too small on me and it rides up big time. SO mad. I may try on a 12 tall if I see it but I suspect the waist will be far too loose and ride up will still be an issue.

This has been a pretty big product drop week for Fall/Back To School and despite all of the awesome items that were dropped in store on Friday we haven’t seen a ton of product pictures on facebook from all of the different stores to go on. My favourite item of the drop this week has been the Full Tilt Long Sleeve which I’ve already gotten the opportunity to wear twice this weekend, mind you it hasn’t been for physical activity, it’s just been to lounge while watching movies in the chilly air conditioning. My other purchase was the Swiftly V-Neck Tee. I’ve been meaning to get one since they first came out in April but non of the colors appealed to me until now. The Raspberry is probably the prettiest pink I’ve seen in a long time and it’s vibrancy reminds me a lot of Power Purple.

Run Full Tilt Long Sleeve

This first picture really illustrates the ‘fit issue’ some have mentioned with the boatneck not laying flat. This is not a design issue per say, it’s really just the dense stretchy running luon needs a bit of help to be arranged. This is especially the case with running luon that is not fitted and fits more relaxed since it doesn’t have the drape that something like cotton or swiftly would have, plus you have the excess fabric. You’ll just need to pull the shirt down and then slouch the bottom hem where you want it to sit making sure that it hasn’t caught on your under shirt, but if your getting a lot of excess fabric at the neckline you may want to try sizing down. I found this top TTS with a slouchy fit but you can easily size down for a more fitted look.

Another picture showing the boatneck not laying perfectly.

Run Full Tilt Pullover

I really love the Full Tilt Pullover in this color but I think I may take a pass on it. I’m not totally decided yet. The color is calling to me though.

Run Swiftly Tech V Neck

I got the Raspberry V Neck the other day and really love it. I’m considering getting a second one but I’ll probably wait for another color run since I can’t decide between Royalty and Muted Mauve. I’ve heard the Muted Mauve is super soft in the silverscent material.

The Stripes Gallore Stride is very striking in person. It really reminds me of the purpley space dye Stride Jacket from way back in 2008. A rare unicorn.

I love when West 4th Lululemon posts pictures because they are absolutely amazing. Makes me want to buy it all up.

Run Inspire Jacket, Ghost

I love this jacket in Ghost. I’m not usually a black/white/grey person but Ghost is such an elegant white.

Run Swiftly Tech V Neck, Raspberry and Royalty

I got this top yesterday and really love the color and fit. It’s a tear the tags right off and don’t look back purchase

 Run Full Tilt Crops

I’m not in need of new crops this fall but I do really like these. I love the contrast piping on the legs and the side pocket.

 Run Weightless Skirt

Not a fan of this skirt and its not just because of the $74 price tag. The ruffles are a bit too much for me.

 Run Full Tilt Pullover

This is a gorgeous Pullover with lots of great details. The contrast under the bust is circle mesh which is really great for keeping that area from getting too sweaty. It reminds me of the Run Hills Pullover. I may get this on in Rocksteady but haven’t totally decided yet.

 See Me Ride 7/8 Tights

 Run Full Tilt Pullover

I am in total love with this pullover and want to get it in Ghost too. I hope it has a second run as well with more colors. The fit was spot on for me and so effortlessly comfortable. I can see myself wearing this a lot for Running, CrossFit and for casual wear.

High-Brow vs Low-Brow: Lululemon Audrey Jacket Knockoff At Zellers

by Cristina September 3, 2011
written by Cristina

The buzz all over the Lulu This Just In Group on Facebook is that Zellers (a Canadian retailer much like Target in the US) has an almost identical replica of the Lululemon Audrey Jacket on for $69. The Audrey Jacket retails for $228 which is quite pricey if you live in a climate that requires a heavier Winter Jacket and you live through shorter Falls and longer winters.

The Zellers replica is made by Sportek which I’ve read is a really good sports apparel manufacturer with high end performance fabrics (comparable to lululemon fabrics).  I have to admit that I’ve been wondering why so many people were posting pictures of the Audrey Jacket on TJI and didn’t realize until now that it was not the true Audrey Jacket but a Zellers version. Last year I wrote about the Zellers replica of the No Rain No Gain Jacket which several readers purchased and were quite happy with so if you covet the Audrey but it’s too spendy for your outerwear needs for the Fall/Winter months then you may want to check out this jacket.

Thank you to the lovely ladies on TJI that submitted photos of the ‘Fraudrey Jacket’

Store Report: Swiftly Tech V-Neck, Full Tilt Long Sleeve and Full Tilt Pullover

by Cristina September 2, 2011
written by Cristina

Coquitlam Centre had a product drop early today due to the holiday Monday coming up and so I made sure to stop in to see the new Run Full Tilt Long Sleeve and Run Full Tilt Pullover and boy am I in love with them. First off, the Long Sleeve is a must have. The neck is a slight boatneck which I love, the fit is form following but not ‘sausage casing’ like last years Run Dash Long Sleeve was on me. I did like last years version but just couldn’t pull the trigger on something that really hugged my (smaller back then) spare tire. I went with the size 10 but the 8 didn’t look too tight, I just preferred that the slouchier 10. I  really like the cuffed hem on this one and the little itty bitty pocket on the front hem. The ruffles are small enough to be cute and subtle without being too precious looking and without making you look like a Stegosaurus. This Long Sleeve is also really nice because there isn’t jarring contrast between the circle mesh, seams and static to non static colors so it doesn’t look busy and it doesn’t scream athletic wear. I also really liked the Heathered Ghost on me today and would have liked to have gotten it since it would look lovely layered over Raspberry but I decided to wait until Upload. The Full Tilt Pullover in Heathered Rocksteady I really, really loved as well but decided to wait on since I already have pullovers but I don’r have any long sleeves.

I also got the Raspberry V-Neck Swiftly today. I almost, almost pulled the trigger this past upload on the short sleeve or the long sleeve swiftly’s in Raspberry but I kept thinking how much I would have preferred it in a v-neck since crewnecks aren’t my favourite neckline. Low and behold Lulu bugged my room and decided to make me one so it was no question today picking it up. On my wish list now is a second Run Full Tilt Long Sleeve in Ghost (or Raspberry if it comes in that color) and the Run Full Tilt Pullover in Rocksteady. I also saw in store today the Rocksteady and Muted Mauve Cool Racerbacks, Rocksteady and Muted Mauve Define Jackets, new Run Full Tilt Crop and See Me Ride 7/8 Tights (both made of thicker Power Luxtreme). Stride Jackets in the new stripe pattern. There may have been more today that I missed but I was just soo giddy about the running luon tops that I had tunnel vision. Last time I had so much excitement shopping at Lululemon was this time last year when the Run Inspire Pullovers came out in Teal Zeal and Lilac and the store was full of those colors.

New! Manifesto Long Sleeve

by Cristina September 1, 2011
written by Cristina

There is a new Manifesto Long Sleeve popping up in some product alerts today. I much prefer the Message In A Bottle Manifesto Print from a few months ago with the more whimsical script but I do like how the print on this is both vertical and horizontal.  This one is also a burn out material which I refuse to buy at Lululemon (I’ve had very bad luck with lulu burn outs). I own other cheaper brands of burnout material that have lasted but my Lululemon burnouts have ripped on first wear and that is just not ok for something double or triple the price so as much as I prefer the lulu style and design I always take a pass on these. You may have better luck then I with these though and I know the Manifesto Prints are very popular and sell out immediately so if you like the style I’d make sure to buy it as soon as you see it in stores.
