Lots of new items tonight!

Tempted

Tonka Stripe Split Pea

(and Pigment Blue is back)

Milky Way Multi

tempting but I’m 99% sure it’s polyestery. But this one is listed as ‘reversible’ and the polyester usually are not

So tempted by this jacket. Cannot be justified at this time though.

Get this Energy Bra. Quickly! After my Seawheeze half on Saturday I got home and realized I did not think about or feel my bra once the entire run.

Why? Why must this taunt me??

The Coco Soft Shell

I’m really interested in trying this one on but the price is restricting me from buying it. I have a older 2010 Banana Republic Jacket that has the identical design down to the cut and seam details, button and pleat detail in the back but it’s wool and I got it on boxing day sale (ever so slightly too snug). I obviously am partial to the sportier lululemon version now but I really can’t justify the price of this one when I have one made out of wool

Pedal Power Wind Shirt

I kind of really like the ascot tie in the front.

Fit Review: Carry And Go Hoodie and Keep On Running Duffel

by Cristina August 13, 2012
written by Cristina

Carry And Go Hoodie

I LOVED this hoodie today and was thinking of ways to get it but in the end it was just a little too short  on my torso so I left it in store to think about. It’s TTS (size 10) and I would not have sized down in this  like I did with my Sing Floss Travel Jacket. I have hopes that we will see the SFT Jacket next monday though so I’m going to wait. I’ve heard whispers that it’s coming in this currant. This one is not just a solid Currant but looks like the commuter print on the Om Pants. It’s cotton french terry and thin and soft just like the Sing Floss Travel Jacket.

Keep On Running Duffel

This is the same Duffel that I got at the Seawheeze expo but the lining is blazer print where as the one I got has a special commemorative seawheeze lining that says seawheeze 2012 all over with pictures illustrations of the course. There is no official laptop pocket in this which is a bummer at this price point but one of the pockets is cushy enough that I’d put my ipad in it with its carrying case.

 the lining fabric

A Gripe (hold on to your seats!)

This miserable ebayer volunteered at the seawheeze and managed to steel a medal. I know it was stolen because they used their volunteer tag holder laces on it which came in blue and pink (not green like the medals came with) and attached the stolen medal to it. It is ridiculous that the ebayer posted this medal with a caption that says ‘medal not for sale, just my glory’. To this ebay seller I say, next year you should run the race and actually earn your medal. I hope this medal serves as a reminder to you what a despicable thing you did and that the only ‘sweating once a day’ you did was figuring out how to turn a buck. Next year you should run it, because earning that medal feels really, really good.

**please note I really don’t have an issue with ebayers but most professional business ebayers don’t stoop to strategizing how to beat runners to a race expo and would not steal items meant just for the runners**

This is what the day felt like for the runners and volunteers there to help make the day amazing.

Sea Wheeze Race Report

by Cristina August 12, 2012
written by Cristina

I have to start by saying that Lululemon and every single volunteer, entertainer, traffic director, water bottle pickeruper etc did a phenomenal job yesterday making it an event to remember. It was so well orchestrated and organized that there were very few hiccups. The energy of the even yesterday simply cannot be replicated by any other race and it was so exciting to see all of the lululemon style surprises around every corner. They hired tons of entertainers for the race at almost every 200-400 meters. There were strange clown cyclists, choirs, a group of elderly tai chi practitioners, paddle boarders,  dragon boaters, drag queens, mermaids, goofy lululemon staff doing their skits, Specialized Lululemon Clad Cyclists. It was really an interactive love letter to Vancouver and it was neat to see the variety of different entertainers. Lululemon thought of absolutely everything on this course from entertaining your cheer station with bouncy castles, food and activities for the little ones, to cut up fruit and water and gels at every single station, coconut water at the end of the race. The course was very well planned taking advantage of the view at every single point and providing a lot of lovely shade. The bridge and hills where a challenge but I’m really glad they were part of the course. The BMO race I did avoided the bridge and as a result there was a bit of dipsy doodling within the city streets so there wasn’t a view the entire race like there was for the Sea Wheeze.  It was an amazing event and I’m so glad that I got to be a part of it.

I ended up running this race a lot slower then I did my BMO half but I really expected that and was just wanting to make it across ‘around 3 hours’ and just have fun. I ended up not training very much for this one and pretty much stopped running in June so the result was a very painful last 4 miles. At 8 miles of this race I was ahead of the game and had I been able to keep up that pace I would have bettered my BMO time. Unfortunately my lack of training coupled with wearing minimal shoes with no cushioning meant my feet were in a lot of pain at that point and I could not run for more then a few minute spurts. I basically walked from mile 8 to mile 11 where I met up with Lululemon Addict (we had started the race together and then separated) and she was feeling so good and was so focused that she pushed me along those last few miles and cracked the whip on me a few times. once close to the finish line the lovely eductators were madly clanging the cow bells for me (so much appreciated) and cheering me on across the finish line and that really helped me to power thru the pain. I also really liked that fruits were offered at each of the stations (BMO didn’t do that) because I felt the orange slices did more for me then my gels did. After the race I took one look at where I had to go for the catered breakfast and my feet just refused to walk over. I’m glad I didn’t attempt it because as it turns out breakfast was finished at that point so it would have been a waisted painful walk over. I really wasn’t actually hungry for food anyways, I desperately wanted a sugary iced Starbucks drink so I took about 40 minutes to hobble the 600 meters to the nearest starbucks, stopping and resting my feet and collapsing in a heap every 2 feet. I was sure at that point that there would be no way I’d be able to make it back downtown for the concert in three hours but when I got home (had an an hour and a half to rest) I soaked myself in an epsom salt bath (painfully discovering that I had a chafing situation and two severely damaged toe nails) and downed some advil, ate a yogurt and then decided I really didn’t want to miss the concert so I put on my cushy Native Flip Flops and drove back.

The concert was so amazing. It was so hot out and the venue (Jack Pool Plaza where our olympic torch is) was absolutely beautiful. The stage was made so that you could see the view of Vancouver as the backdrop and as the band Fun played you could see the cruise ships slowly drifting past while huge dragonflies buzzed around above us.  I don’t know how lululemon managed to have Vancouver so ‘on’ just like all of the entertainers where but Vancouver showed it’s very best this weekend and played along with lovely wether and nicely timed cruise ships and float planes.

It was so lovely to meet so many travelers this weekend from all over the US and I’m so glad you all came out and created the amazing energy of excitement.

On the viaduct there were a couple of these cyclists driving back and forth. It was so synchronized and weird. Loved it!

At this cheer station there was a blow up mountie, beaver, bear and eagle. Just after this was the group of Tai Chi practitioners.

Paddle boaters in costumes

I met this guy, Dave Mari who seems to be in every single race album I’ve ever seen online. I think he’s part of a group called marathon maniacs and he wears his paul frank tee shirts to every race and photographs people. Really cool guy and it turned out we had a friend in common.

Tons of water. No shortage. The first water station had temporarily run out of cups so they were refilling peoples hydration packs and handing out 1lt bottles. None of the other stations had run out of cups and by the time we circled back the station was refilled.

The GEC building had educators wearing Ray scaling the building in groups of three. That was pretty cool!!

The SeaWheeze Half Marathon Medal

The medal is removable and can be used as a key chain or zipper pull on a bag, the ribbon is shoes laces with the SeaWheeze colors and SeaWheeze written on it.

The concert venue. I wish I could have taken more pictures but at this point my phone was almost totally out of battery power.

These are some of the pictures taken by Lululemon and on their website

Chip!!! I never saw Chip and would have loved to have met him.

These ladies where my favorite of all the cheer stations. They looked amazing!

Could she be any more adorable??? There was also a dad with a small toddler in a stroller holding a sign that said “hurry up mommy, my diaper needs changing”.

Seawheeze Showcase Store Merchandise Snapshots

by Cristina August 11, 2012
written by Cristina

Some snapshots of the merchandise at the SeaWheeze expo. I’m hoping to make it back tomorrow to the SeaWheeze Showcase Store after the half marathon and after breakfast. I’ll be sure to post many pictures of the run, events, medal and concert. I’ve been told to expect a few lululemon style surprises tomorrow and I’m really excited. I can say without a doubt that this was well worth the entry fees and I’ll be doing this again next year. I can guarantee you that there is no better host of a race than lululemon, no matter how prestigious more established races are. This is going to be huge for years to come and I’m so glad I got to be a part of the first one.  Next year though I hope to be better prepared training wise. I got to meet Lululemon Addict this morning and she is such a sweet lady, it was so lovely to meet her as well as fellow community members and various lululemon educators and staff. And the wonderful group from Texas that helped me lift my double wide stroller up the set of stairs! If you are out there reading this – Thank You!!!

The Sea Wheeze Haul

by Cristina August 10, 2012
written by Cristina

Good lord that was  the armageddon of shopping today. I got in the Sea Wheeze store at about 8:30am today (30 minutes after opening once I got my registration taken care of) and every item on my list and the wish list of the few people I had agreed to grab things for was sold out. It was hectic and stressful and I wish I had the luxury to shop today without dragging my poor kids along but unfortunately it just didn’t work out that way. I’m hoping to try again tomorrow after the race, but I’m not hopeful there will be much left or that I’ll have the energy to endure it post race.  People were purchasing boxes of items. There were people all over the place with piles and piles of clothes that they were sorting and counting for friends which is probably why everything sold out so quickly. I was really wanting a blue striped CRB but those were gone instantly. On the plus side though I did grab two plum striped Swiftly’s and they are the softest swiftly material I have ever felt and the color is just gorgeous. I also got this bag which was super pricey and not a purchase I can easily justify but I just couldn’t leave it behind. People were buying multiples of this bag so they flew quickly as well. I think there were also a lot of items made in the smaller size runs that were not made in the size 8 and 10, and there were no size 12 items which was sad because I like to size up in shorts so I would have gotten myself a pair.

The Native Shoes Lululemon Sea Wheeze Flip Flops  are so totally adorable. I’m really excited about getting these for free. Really comfortable and cushy!

This is the Plum striped Swiftly I got. There was also an orange version and a lime green version. I think this is looser and stretchier then my regular Swiftly’s and with the lines it almost looks like the plum Turnaround LS

The CRB’s were all luxtreme. The solid colors were racing length and the striped version I could only find the orangy red version, a very small few of the lime and this one. No blue in site.

Groovy Runs. There was also a Speed Short version in this plaid.

I stood in about 4 lineups today. This was the lineup to get in right before check in. It was about 20 minutes long. The second lineup was check in which was about 20 minutes. 3rd line was my mistake. I waited for 40 minutes in a lineup that I thought was to pay but it turned out it was a fitting room lineup. I could have cried right along with my kids at that point but I persevered and found the check out lineup which was insane. It wrapped around the ballroom and snaked into 4-5 layers of partitioning and was at least 45 minutes long but probably longer then that. It’s all a blur now because my two year old was screaming like the exorcist girl causing some people to look at me kindly and others to scowl.

My kids thought this guy was hilarious

Each ‘lung tree’ was a size station. There wasn’t a ton on each station and all the sizes were scattered about so the 8 was on one end and 10’s were opposite which made shopping between the two difficult. There was a lot of ‘stuff’ but not a lot of selection. I’m told they didn’t plan on things selling out as quickly as they did.

‘a’ personal shopper

Outside for fresh air finally! There were some cute mascots around. This guy scared my kids a little. At the bottom of the picture you can see the hammock made of lululemon straps. All of the lounge furniture was made out of recycled lululemon items by a company called debrand
