Size Comparison: Right As Rain Jacket (TTS and Sized Up)

by Cristina September 5, 2012
written by Cristina

I often feel wishy washy about sizing due to my curvier pear shaped figure and petite proportions so while yesterday I was inclined to size up to a 12 in this yesterday, today I felt the need to  retry the Right As Rain Jacket on with different types of layers underneath and get a couple of educators opinions.

On the left is the size 10 which fit comfortably with the exception of when I hold my arms forward I can feel slight tightness in the shoulders. The arms themselves are roomy enough to accommodate a light hoodie, it’s just in the shoulder opening that I notice the tightness and only when I stretch my arms out. I tried it on over the Carry and Go Hoodie and it was comfortable enough, but it was more comfortable over something thin like the Define Jacket or a tee. Sitting down it felt like it pulled slightly at the shoulders but not quite enough that it was uncomfortable. The 12, felt roomy all over even with the Carry and Go Hoodie underneath and it flared out more at the hem which I liked but I felt the 10 looked more slimming which is what the Eds thought too, they said the 12 looked just a bit too big. I like the 10 better today but I just wish there was about 1/2″ of more flare around the hips.

Anyways, hopefully you can use these pictures to decide for yourself what your fit preference is.

I also tried on the Cashew version of the jacket in my TTS 10 and I really liked the color but in white/off white it’s not as slimming and I also didn’t love how the back looked over my butt. The color makes it look a bit more like a snow board jacket to me while the black looked more urban soccer mom (not that thats a great look to shoot for but it suites my lifestyle a bit better). I’d also never be able to keep the Cashew clean

Bordeaux Drama Keep On Running Duffel and Right As Rain Jacket

by Cristina September 5, 2012
written by Cristina

I just can’t stop looking at pictures of the Keep On Running Duffel in Bordeaux Drama. I was actually attracted to the Split Pea version as well with the off white contrasting but I like the Bordeaux Drama one best. Lululemon makes amazing gym bags but to be honest I haven’t really felt tempted by any of the ones out since the Ivy Bon Voyage Duffel in 2010, so it must be this specific shape that is really attracting me as well as the jewel tones.

Sigh…I like this jacket a lot but it’s so darn pricey. I wish it had more bells and whistles for the price -maybe a print in the lining would have been nice? Or a light fleece lining? I tried on the Flare, Coal and Black and the Black is the one I liked the most so I’d rather buy a used one from last year then get this years inflated priced version. Quite a few items on my ‘watch for sale‘ list this year. More so than ever before.

Right as Rain Jacket Fit Review and The Latest

by Cristina September 4, 2012
written by Cristina

Right As Rain Jacket and Keep On Running Duffel

I tried on this jacket today and really liked it. I was a bit torn with staying TTS for a narrower fit (layered well over my knit sweater wrap though) but it felt slightly snug in the shoulders or sizing up to the 12. I think the 12 looked really good on but it was quite loose in the arms and shoulders..but I liked how it flared out better. Truthfully I’m having some fit issues lately with increasing crossfit and I’m finding my shoulders need more space as well as my butt with some jackets. All my clothes fit comfortably from last year but for some reason I’m finding jackets especially are just hitting me weird at my shoulders and the top of my butt. Too many thrusters!

The price of this jacket truly sucks and even though I live in a climate where a good rain jacket is a requirement, this design is just a little too basic and simple to justify it. It’s basically a shell for $200 and for this price I would have loved a soft fleece lining or something – and for the outside to be Bordeaux Drama. The only way I’d pay full price for it is by selling something else, otherwise I’m waiting for markdown.

The Bordeaux Drama Keep on running duffel took everything in my power not to buy. It is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. I do not need it. Somehow I found the strength to walk away.

This is my TTS 10 for reference.

I tried on the LS version and it is really, really soft. Yes, it will pill and fuzz out on you easily and look worn but it’s also super snuggly soft and warm . So it just depends on how precious you are with your run tops. If I were running lots  right now I wouldn’t care about that but for me right now this top would be worn casually and as a too and from to crossfit so I’m more concerned with it’s appearance. I’m resisting getting any of these Sun Runner Tops but if they hit markdown I’ll definitely reconsider them.

Right As Rain Jacket Price Increase

by Cristina September 4, 2012
written by Cristina

Yikes!!!! Price went up!! last years Right as Rain Jacket was pricey already at $178. Looks like the Bordeaux Drama/Flare version is Bordeaux on the inside and not outside so that along with the gross price increase reduces my interest significantly.

Right As Rain Jacket is Back

by Cristina September 4, 2012

The Right As Rain Jacket is now listed on some US product alerts. Does anyone remember what the price was for this jacket last year ($178!)  The product alert says it comes in Bordeaux Drama and I may well be tempted to get it if the price is right.

Upload!!!

by Cristina September 4, 2012
written by Cristina

Some goodies uploaded tonight, some items tempting me, but all I got was the Run: Catch Me Tank in Bordeaux Drama. I had a return today due to a quality issue and unfortunately I was SOL in getting my money back but I did get a gift card which I applied towards the Run: Catch Me Tank (and still had to add $18 to that total!). I would have likely ordered the Bordeaux Drama Define Jacket had it been uploaded but unfortunately it has not.

What did you guys order tonight? where you disappointed in the smaller upload for the start of a new month and new season?

The Star Runner Pullover in Angel Blue tempted me at first but there is a lot of seam detailing at the shoulders that I’m not loving and I was also turned off earlier today when I saw the short sleeve version in store and it was quite worn looking and fuzzy in areas.

This bag, in this color is magnificent. I just can’t justify a gym bag.

If these are really limited edition prints then they really should be signed and numbered accordingly.  Otherwise it’s a poster or ‘reproduction’. That’s just my art school opinion though (read here about limited editions in printmaking and why ‘limited edition’ prints are numbered).

Upload Tonight?

by Cristina September 4, 2012
written by Cristina

I’m guessing yes to an upload tonight but I’m not entirely sure. Stores got some products in prior to the long weekend that did not make it online but my store didn’t get everything that some of your stores got such as the Bordeaux Drama Define Jacket or Tonka Striped CRB. I did stop in at another local store today and there was nothing new since Friday. I’m thinking we will see Bordeaux Drama Define, the Star Runner Short Sleeves and Long Sleeves, Bright at Night Pants and Star Runner Tights, Down Town Puff Jacket. I’ll likely order the Bordeaux Drama Define and if a tank uploads in that color I’ll order that too just to check them out in person. Perhaps the Star Runner LS as well but the short sleeve version I saw in store today was quite fuzzy and worn looking just from being tried on and it really turned me off of it.

Love the tights, not getting them though.

WTF September: Reflection

by Cristina September 4, 2012
written by Cristina

In honor of the Lululemon photo a day challenge What The Focus September or #wtfsept, I thought I’d play along here on the blog. I have pretty much zero inspiration for 80% of the words listed so far but I’m hoping i’ll get some in the moment inspiration and will post a little something for each word of the day (and hope you’ve forgotten if I miss one or two).
