The Sézane summer archives are here! Sadly I will not be able to order from Sézane this time as my last order got dinged with duties and they where unfairly calculated by DHL as usual. $50 on my $80 purchase. Don’t do it, Canadians!

Once the US/Canada border opens up I will be able to shop Sézane again. For those of you in the US, there are several dresses in this sale that I love. The sandal selections are great too! Sézane has really high quality leather shoes.

I always understood intellectually how homogenized influencer/blogger world is, but I got to truly experience what that looks like in a room all at once a few years ago at the absolute pageantry of a big blogger/influencer event, and what a vacuum that creates.

Seeing not only how underrepresented this medium is, but…..not even slightly diversified at the most influential numbers…You might not truly get that just looking at your feed as flat lays, ootd’s and recipes infinitely scroll showing you things to entice you.

Go through your feed. See if it’s diversified to content that’s different from your world. See how much of the images ignite your creativity, make you think, give you pause, take your breath away, make you curious. See what makes you passively accept a validation of your own reality. There is so much exciting content out there but its too crowded a landscape to appreciate it sometimes and we don’t reward the right kind of content with our attention.

Dispatch from Quarantine: Lululemon Upload

by Cristina May 26, 2020
written by Cristina

Lululemon Upload is live!

Nothing new or too exciting here in the bunker but I do have a couple shows to recommend. I’ve been watching Little Fires Everywhere and The Great on Amazon Prime and they are fantastic! And of course Dead To Me on Netflix is really good. Have you watched these shows yet? It feels like it’s been so long since there have been exciting new releases on streaming services so I have been devouring these shows.

We are gradually opening up into phase 2 in BC and despite a lot of stores and restaurants opening, our Lululemon stores are still closed. I suspect they will open sometime around June 1, but not sure. The unfortunate thing is with stores opening after such long closures, the lineups are huge to get in. Homesense opened on Friday and the lineup was around two hours long.

Schools open up on June 1 for a modified social distanced learning for three weeks and we are still undecided, but leaning heavily on sending kids to school. I think being away from peers for so long is really unhealthy. Our risk in BC right now is less than .008% (with around 10-12 new cases daily) so the conflict with reopening schools right now seems to be almost entirely to do with logistics (and ‘why bother’ for three weeks) vs. actual risk. The last three weeks of school are always the wind down anyways with field trips and and experiences. My Dr. strongly recommended the kids go back to school, and she’s erred on very cautious with covid-19 to date. It will be very interesting to see what the numbers do in the next two weeks now that we’ve started opening things up, but with safety protocols (some reasonable, some absurd) in place. Hopefully they stay within the manageable range (in that sweet spot the health officers need them to be at), and heard immunity starts to take hold along with vaccination releases.

I was just reading this article about Japans pandemic success despite having zero closures. BC didn’t have a lot of official closures other than salons, restaurants, schools and public parks but retailers and many other businesses closed out of moral obligation and social duty.

Dispatch From Quarantine Lululemon Uploads

by Cristina May 19, 2020
written by Cristina

Week 10 of Dispatch From Quarantine Lululemon Uploads and finally, BC has entered into phase 2. Local Lululemon stores have not announced an opening date yet but many of the stores around them in the malls have opened this past weekend. I am most excited to see my chiropractor and start back up at the gym. Although both will look extremely different with very strange protocols in place. I still can’t get used to the direction lines in grocery store aisles. Another thing I’m excited about is the constant lineups ending.

What’s it like where you are right now? Is your city ready for Stage 2?

Dispatch From Quarantine Lululemon Uploads | Week 9

by Cristina May 12, 2020
written by Cristina

Dispatch From Quarantine Lululemon Uploads week 9. Can you believe it’s been this long? I’ve been keeping really busy making Tie-Dye tee shirts with natural indigo, and these Sugaring Kits for my store. The days have been flying by and I feel a lot busier than usual. Being busy with these projects is keeping from really dwelling about when life will go back to normal.

How’ve you been doing? Did you earn a Strava discount from the Lululemon challenge? Hopefully you find something you want with today’s upload.

Several items I’m eying for my Strava Discount. I’m loving the City Crew Spacer in both the Tiger and Iced Iris. Is this the first time we see Spacer in a color? I also really like the On The Fly Crop Joggers. And of course I need to replace my standard black Align crops and pants, and joggers so that will probably be it for my discount spending. I’m curious to see what my husband picks out for his discount. He likes Lululemon but he’s never purchased it himself without my input.

I’m also admiring the Train To Be Short Sleeve in Shibori, but I’m not going to get it because I am really loving my own indigo shibori. My best girlfriend actually got inspired and she tie-dyed her entire bedding set which was white but had gotten a stain on it. It looks so fantastic! That may be my next project, but I won’t use the natural indigo for that. It’s way too expensive to use on such a large piece.

Limited! New Tees for My Quarantine Champions ⭐︎ Hand-Dyed Natural Indigo Shibori Tie-Dye Tee Shirts

by Cristina May 10, 2020
written by Cristina

So many of you loved the Indigo Shibori shirts I made myself and asked if I would make some to sell. I spent the weekend cooking up a new indigo dye vat and now I have three hand-dyed natural indigo shibori tie-dyed shirts to share. Two of the shirts are Love Tees, and one is a 100% cotton Bella Canvas Tee. For now this is a very limited collection.

I hope to have a tutorial up soon for those of you that are interested in DIY’ing this. Stay tuned!

New Lululemon Items + Fun With Natural Indigo Shibori Tie Dying During Shelter In Place

by Cristina May 8, 2020
written by Cristina

Quite by accident I discovered two new loves that I thought I’d share with my fellow quarantine champions. This week I had some Fun With Natural Indigo Shibori Tie Dying During Shelter In Place!

First discovery, This Lululemon tee. It is THE BEST Lululemon Basic White Tee. This item was totally off my radar, but I was in search of a white lululemon tee to bravely hand-dye.

I had already dyed several old items in my closet (things with stains and holes that I didn’t mind sacrificing) thanks to the current tie-dye trend and my tweens wanting to try it for TikTok. I fell in love with the results even though I did have a few fails. I was ready to go big with a brand new white Lululemon tee. For some reason I didn’t want the standard Love Tee. I wanted something that would match the style of the project. This oversized boxy shape really called to me and I’m so glad I took a chance on it because I am in love with it, even without the dye job. It’s perfection.

Discovery #2. In tie-dying with my kids I went down a rabbit hole and learned about the natural indigo dying process (and a little bit about cochineal). There is a small local business that specializes in natural dyes so I got a little kit from them and was blown away by the results. This is what home schooling should actually be because there is a lot of chemistry to be learned with natural dying. It’s a very finicky and time consuming process but the dye has so much depth and varying tones that you can see the difference right away between chemical dye and natural dye. It’s just beautiful! I used a shibori process for the bottom tee, and I did a gradient ombre effect for this top tee. I think the top tee was dipped about 30 times.

Tie-dye may not be your thing but I really treasure these two tees and am so excited about the results.

The tee is a very generous oversized boxy fit and the sizing is S, M, L so it’s definitely confusing. I ordered the Medium for the top photo which I would consider my TTS. I take a 10 in most Lululemon items. The bottom photo is a Small. I like how both fit and ended up keeping both. If I was to order it again I would go for a small but wouldn’t sweat it if only a medium was available. The tee also looks really great with jeans with the front hem tucked in, and the back hem left out.

Goal Smasher Jacket, Lululemon Upload

I’ve already reviewed this jacket here in my TTS so I’ll just share that this one is a size up. I wanted to share a true color picture of this jacket and describe the color to you. It is a bright, neon tomato coral red. If you hate tomato reds you may not like this. I used to not like tomato reds but discovered that it’s actually the most flattering red tone for me. I have another shirt in this shade and I always get compliments on the color. I really gravitate to it now. This is a high intensity color so if you like to blend in, you will be out of your comfort zone.

I love the satin finish of this jacket and the overall look so much that this is a jacket I would love in black as much as I love it in the pink and red. That’s when I know a design is great!

Dispatch From Quarantine: The Lululemon Upload

by Cristina May 5, 2020
written by Cristina

The Lululemon Upload is here!

How are you doing in your social isolation? I think some regions are calling it shelter in place. We are on our 8th week and this past week I’ve just been feeling really drained. We’ve celebrated three birthdays in Isolation and they’ve gone well considering.

We’re settled into a pretty good rhythm of work from home/school, exercise, and virtual get-togethers. Our days have regular patterns finally. Thank goodness for this months Lululemon Strava Challenge for creating space for physical activity besides just running. Although I’m mostly running during the challenge it’s nice to be able to include long family walks or bike rides. All is going well but I’m really longing for two things especially this week. I’m longing for regular human contact from society, and I’m longing for alone time at home. Is that weird? What a strange contradiction. I think I just need a break from this strange social construct. The effort of it is making me feel really drained.

Hopefully you guys are doing well. Let me know in the comment show you’ve settled in to social isolation so far.

The Lululemon Strava Challenge has been really great and has gotten me back into running. Running for fun and release, not running for marathon training goals. Very clever of Lululemon because my online shopping focus has been on run related items. I’m on the lookout for new running shoes. I am currently using my old Nike Pegasus which I’ve worn for two half marathons so they are due to be phased out. I’ve been having some knee pain so I know it’s definitely time.

What do you guys wear for running? Any recommendations for what I should try? I’m going to book a private try-on session with a local running store but I’d like to go in with a few things I want to try so that I can minimize the amount of time I take up.

I am so happy to see Carnation Red. I love this color! I had seen it several weeks ago in the Perfectly Oversized Crew but by the time I noticed it the color was sold out completely.

The Perfectly Oversized Crew has some fantastic reviews online. Have any of you purchased it? I am thinking of maybe getting it in white to indigo dye it shibori style. I posted some pictures on Instagram the other day from a tie-dye project I did with my kids. That was the consolation ‘birthday party’ for my daughter but we had so much fun and dyed a ton of stuff. My youngest now has a big wardrobe of tie-dyed clothes she’s in love with. I got a little kit of true indigo textile dye from a small local artisanal shop and I want to make something special with it. The Perfectly Oversized Crew may be just the thing once I’ve practiced on a few test fabrics.

Hotty Hot Short High-Rise Long Online Only 4″

The Hotty Hot Short High-Rise Long and the Track That Short are my all-time favourite Lululemon run shorts. If you have curvy butt and thighs, or petite curvy proportions and the usual short-shorts don’t work for you, try these. They are fantastic! They look proportionally right on me, and they are a really comfortable length on me for running to prevent thigh friction. I’m really surprised they used this particular model to showcase these on the website since they overwhelm her and don’t show how great these look on curvy petite proportions.
