Thursdays Upload Wishes and Predictions

by Cristina July 22, 2010
written by Cristina

I don’t think Lulu puts anything up on Upload Thursdays that hasn’t already hit stores first but I’m going to go out on a limb and cross my fingers for the new run pullover. I felt a running Luon Hills pullover today and  it made me literally ache for cooler weather. I’ll find it so hard to not buy each color that comes out but I’m going to have to show some restraint and make a decision. Lulu has now posted bellow their sneak peek video that we will see these products in the next 6 weeks so maybe it will be a while yet before we see the pullover. Could be up to 5 weeks. Oh well, more time to give the ol’ credit card a rest.

I’m also hoping for some Pima T’s (v-neck or not) in Wish and Pig Pink. I doubt it will happen but you just never know with Lulu. Maybe some prints will be nice.
A Branch Savasana or Gratitude Wrap…maybe some new things in Ivy….

What I think will be uploaded tomorrow is all of the Light it Up items, the new Strides in Alarm and Oasis,  all of the new pants and shorts in Alarm and Oasis and the new Scuba Hoodies.

What do you think Lulu’s upload pattern is and what are you hoping to see tomorrow?

I just discovered a new awesome blog that I’ve linked to on the right hand side and also over here. This find was courtesy of my Running Room Magazine I just got in the mail. I wonder if she wears Lulu too.

Lululemon Mommy Must Haves

Pregnancy & Post Pregnancy

These are some of the items that made up my pregnancy wardrobe and that I still am able to wear because they have all retained there shapes. Some items you should size up in and some you can stay your pre pregnancy size. When your pregnant your comfort is the most important things. You will get hot flashes, itchy skin and swollen feet (and butt and belly and boobs) so if you can get away with wearing all lulu morning, noon and night I say go for it. You may need to supplement with pregnancy jeans (which I detest) or a formal outfit if you need to go out somewhere. For the most part though, most people will cut you some slack as far as wearing comfort clothes as you are after all busy growing a human being and more uncomfortable then they will ever know. If you wore Lulu items during your pregnancy that I haven’t listed here, please feel free to add them in the comments section. Also, some people prefer to wear loose flowy tops while pregnant while others prefer to wear form fitting tops. My list of tops is based on a form fitting style so keep that in mind. Lulu also makes some empire waisted tops which you may prefer post pregnancy while things take a while to get back to normal.

Jackets and Hoodies: I wore my Remix sweatshirt right till the end, and although I was able to suck in my tummy and zip it up I just wore it open at all times. Someone had mentioned on Facebook that they used the Stride Jacket and I so wish I would have owned one at the time because I know that it would have been just perfect and zip-upable.

Still II Pants: By far, the best pair of pants for pregnancy are the Still II Pants, crops and shorts. They are roomy in the legs and butt, the waist is the most comfortable because you can roll it down under your belly or up over your belly. Great for c-section recovery. If you get them in black you can wear them as dressy work pants under a long cardigan. They bounce right back to pre pregnancy shape just like you will.

Lulu Crops and Pants: to be worn under your belly. Nice warm cotton for cooler weather. You may need to size 1 up depending on your hips. I had 2 pairs, one was my normal size and one was my size up size and I wore them both equally.
Lulu Crop

Tops
Cool Racer Back Tanks: Form fitting and long to cover your entire belly and the Luon will wick away sweat while you have your pregnancy induced hot flashes. I could never wear actual maternity tops because they are made short and wide so although they accommodate the width of your belly the bottom of your belly hangs out of the bottom totally exposed. Not cute!
Cool Racerback
Modern Racer Back Tanks: Same as above but made with Pima Cotton and not Luon
5yr Pima T-shirts: Same as above. Even the Pima cotton snaps back to it’s original shape. I stayed with my pre pregnancy size for a form fitting t (that didn’t sacrifice length) or you could go one size up.

Run: Swiftly: short sleeve or long sleeve. Thin stretchy material that will keep you cool.
Run:Swiftly Tech LS

All of these tops above can be used post pregnancy for easy access breastfeeding. You can layer tops to give you belly coverage if you like to pull your top up. If you like to pull your top down like I do there is plenty of neck room and stretch and it will not destroy your shirt.

Nursing Bras: My advice is to try these on first and make sure you can easily pull them down for feeds because depending on your size they may or may not work for you.

I hate conventional nursing bras. They have no support and look awful under t-shirts because most of them are not at all padded. I hate clasps and having to do them back up after a feed and while balancing a baby on my lap. Depending on your size you may be able to get away with these:

Flow Y: Perfect for layering, good support without major compression that could cause plugged ducts. I’m a 36C and can easily pull these down for nursing. You can add the cups in the cup pockets or you can just slip them over your breast between the Flow Y and pull them out when you need to feed. That way you don’t scrunch them up. As a bonus they also work for minor leeks. This bra is also great if you run and need to nurse prior to leaving.
Flow Y Bra IV

Hot Yoga Bra: Low support, not good for running but a perfect every day bra for nursing. Luxtreme is my favourite material for bras these days and I wish they made a Flow Y out of it…with cups added of course. Easily slip the boobage out for feeding. Most comfortable bra ever.
Hot Yogi Bra

Diaper Bags:
Most Lululemon Bags are great for packing all of your baby needs. You need plenty of space, pockets for your things so that they are easy to find and most gym bags are made to carry dirty and sweaty clothes. Some bags even have side pockets to carry your bottles.
I love the On The Move Gym Bag because you can easily just through it in the wash if it gets dirty.

For the Runners

by Cristina July 21, 2010
written by Cristina

I found this great article in Runners World today called I Am Not A Jogger that made me wish today was not a rest day for me.

And here is the list of what the Author, John Bingham says makes you a runner and not a jogger:

I AM A RUNNER because my runs have names. I do tempo runs and threshold runs andfartlek runs. I do long, slow runs and track workouts. My runs are defined, even if my abs are not.

I AM A RUNNER because my shoes are training equipment, not a fashion statement. The best shoe for me is the one that makes me a better runner. I choose the shoe that goes with my running mechanics, not my running outfit.

I AM A RUNNER because I don’t have running outfits. I have technical shirts and shorts and socks. I have apparel that enhances the experience of running by allowing me to run comfortably. I can say “Coolmax” and “Gore-Tex” in the same sentence and know which does what.

I AM A RUNNER because I know what effort feels like, and I embrace it. I know when I’m pushing the limits of my comfort and why I’m doing it. I know that heavy breathing and an accelerated heart rate–things I once avoided–are necessary if I want to be a better runner.

I AM A RUNNER because I value and respect my body. It will whisper to me when I’ve done too much. And if I choose to listen to that whisper, my body won’t have to scream in pain later on.

I AM A RUNNER because I am willing to lay it all on the line. I know that every finish line has the potential to lift my spirits to new highs or devastate me, yet I line up anyway.

I AM A RUNNER because I know that despite my best efforts, I will always want more from myself. I will always want to know my limits so that I can exceed them.

I AM A RUNNER because I run. Not because I run fast. Not because I run far.

I AM A RUNNER because I say I am. And no one can tell me I’m not.

Waddle on, friends.

And I officially became a runner when I got lost on one of my new longer loops towards the end of my run and had to run all the way home way past what I thought were my limits because I couldn’t be late getting back to my kids. It ended up being my first 6km’s ever.

FYI

by Cristina July 20, 2010
written by Cristina

I’ve added a “For Sale” page listed above and I’ll see how that goes, if it’s not a nuisance to my blogging I’ll keep it. These are all the same items I have listed on the exchange page so if your on Facebook you can see my items listed there.  I wont be jacking up prices on what I list as the intent is not to earn a profit but to sell so that I can keep up my addiction without going bankrupt and continue to blog another day. I’m also on the path to weight loss so I quickly am finding my clothes are getting to big…and I refuse to go a year or more with clothing I don’t love and feel comfortable with.

I’ve also added an email address if you wish to contact me on the sale items or any questions you may have otherwise.

Todays Lulu Adventures

by Cristina July 19, 2010
written by Cristina

I received my Modern V neck T today that I had ordered on Thursdays upload and instead of getting the light grey one I ordered I received the Oatmeal colored one. Although I do love that one, I have it already.
I ‘d read someone else complaining about this issue on facebook yesterday and wondered if I would get the correct one. The issue was in the tagging of the T and not so much a website issue. If this happens to you I think Lulu does take care of that if your away from a store including the shipping. I happen to be fortunately (or un according to Mr. Husband) up the street from Coquitlam Centre so decided to pop in and see if they had any Lolo Purple Scuba hoodies and return my Modern V. I’m not looking to buy the Scuba but wanted to see the color non the less. I didn’t see any there but there was a girl trying on the hoodie in Alarm and the ribbing looked super flattering on her. I’ve read that the ribbing makes this a tighter fit than the regular remix and that you should size up but I was having some hot flash issues at the moment and couldn’t bring myself to try one on myself for you. My issues with the regular Remix is that it’s a very boxy fit and it’s shorter in length. It’s a cult classic here in Vancouver so I own a few but the weather is much too mild for me to get much use out of them. I much prefer the look of this fit than I do  the Remix, but dare I say that I don’t much care for the grey on it? It’s true, I don’t. I know everyone seems to love it but I wish this was just a remix with ribbing on the side and the longer length and either one color or multi colored without grey.

Other than that there was not much new at Coquitlam. Noteworthy though was that they had moved a whole lotta stuff out of the way. The store was looking mighty empty and at least 3 or 4 displays were gone. I think they must be expecting a large shipment any day now and I can’t wait to get my hot little hands on some new running stuff. I have all of my comfort clothes I need and now it’s time for business attire – running clothes, so that I can turn my 6km runs into 10km runs.

*Facebook verdict on the new Scuba hoodie fit seems to be: Stay true to size unless you have a larger bust and broader shoulders. This is a form fitting hoodie so If you go up one size it wills still be form fitting much like the WWA. I sized up on my WWA and even after loosing weight it’s still form fitting on me.

I See Why It’s Called Static Wave Stripe

by Cristina July 19, 2010
written by Cristina

Every picture I’ve seen of this print seems to make this weird wavy optical illusion. I wonder if that was intentional. I think the only thing I’ve seen not do this is the Stride II. Does not look like this in person. In person it looks more like it does on the Lululemon.com website.
