Itak Print and Rubber Ducky

by Cristina January 5, 2011
written by Cristina

This is a bit of a closeup of Itak Print. There are a lot of new colors showing up so it’s hard to say what these two are in the print. Perhaps Purple Crush and Concord Grape? We’ll be seeing a Scoop neck tank in this print as well with Grape/Concord Grape Itak.

The trim on this bag is called Rubber Ducky. It looks pretty similar to Chirp from last spring but perhaps a little lighter.

The Factory Outlet in Vancouver currently has these new Waterwall print grooves on for $79. I assume this is a minimal markdown and that sales are final. (sorry for the text)

These are all the new headbands in stores. The top ones are called ‘Dance! Headband’ and are really cute, I don’t think I’ve ever seen those before so they must be new. It almost looks like there are two widths in these, the Black one being extra thick and then there is the Aruba and a darker Teal below it. The rest of these are the Braided headband, Slipless Headband, Untwisted Headband, and Skinny Satin Pirouette Headband.

Multi Print Hustle Jacket ~ Great Photo!

by Cristina January 4, 2011
written by Cristina

These are by far the best pictures I’ve seen of the Poncho Print Hustle Jacket. You can actually see the reflective lines on this jacket. If you are in love with this print and don’t yet have a Hustle Jacket I would go for it. I love this jacket better then any I have seen from Lulu and did a fit review of it over here. I’m not a huge fan of this print on the jacket but I think of all the Poncho Prints I like the Multi Poncho the best.

A Few More Pictures ~ Ikat Print, Multi Poncho Stripe Hustle, Light Grey Pique

by Cristina January 4, 2011
written by Cristina

This is the inner liner of the Aruba Retro Groove Gym Bag with Ikat print (Raw Blue, Aruba,  Concord Grape??). I like this combination of colors in the print and wouldn’t mind seeing a tank with this print such as the Cool Racerback or Modern Racer. Hmmm, I’m getting excited to see more Ikat prints in the right color combos.

Multi Poncho Stripe Hustle Jacket. It’s grown on me a bit since this afternoon but I still much prefer the original versions.

Light Grey Pique Wunder Under Crops. I love Pique and love it in the light grey. I’ve been eyeing some knitted pointelle tights  from Aritzia which I saw on a girl at Startbucks this morning and I love them but they’re so unforgiving. I think Pique is a much safer bet for someone with curvier legs.

Retro Groove Gym Bag

by Cristina January 4, 2011
written by Cristina

This was a product alert that came this afternoon with the Retro Groove Gym Bag (SPRI) featured in what looks like Pond, or maybe Snorkel Blue It’s Sprinkler! I don’t dislike this bag but I don’t love it the way I did most of the bags that were out ‘last year’ in ruched satin jewel tones. The inner liner is interesting, looks like Beachy Green and Pow Pink which have been spotted in stores. I wonder if this is ‘Ikat’ print mentioned in the Australian product alerts.

I found this example of Ikat Prints. The tribal folksy prints are in these days in local stores (Aritzia/TNA) so it’s interesting seeing that trend extend beyond the Poncho Print.

Newest Items ~ Great New Colors (Aruba, Raw Blue, Power Purple Micro Stripe)

by Cristina January 4, 2011
written by Cristina

This is the new Retro Groove Gym Bag. It’s cute but I’m really loving that Aruba is back. I had a pair of Tranquil Crops in Heathered Aruba which pilled beyond recognition and always upset me because I loved the color and never saw anything else in it that I could buy to replace my sad looking Tranquil Crops (depilling didn’t help revive them). We’ll be seeing at least a Cool Racerback in this color but what I would love is a Cool Racerback with a pattern like on the water bottles in the picture below. I’m so much happier with this color palette (Aruba, Raw Blue, Power Purple, India Ink, Pond) then I was with the Passion/Snorkel/Faded Zap Palette. These are much more the type of colors that I gravitate to, besides neutrals such as browns.

Modern Racerback Tanks are back in Passion/Coal Omber, Snorkel/Coal Ombre, and Faded Zap/Coal Ombre. Modern Racerbacks are made of Pima Cotton just like the 5yr Pimas. I have a White Modern in size 12 which I use a lot for layering and a Chirp and Black in size 10. Now I would probably go with an 8 since my size 10’s scoop down in the chest quite low.

This is a closeup of the Resolution Pants I reviewed here. I really liked these pants a lot but these are a size up if your between sizes. Not for fit so much but because there is an inner seam detail that shows through across the butt when you move around and the inner liner moves against the outer fabric so you don’t want these to be fitted in that area. Looks like you have saggy panties underneath. Anyways, I really like the Raw Blue used on these pants as well as in the Ambition Crops. I hope to see a lot more pants in this color and in particular I’d love to have a pair of Dance Studio Pants in Raw Blue. Raw Blue is closer to Black then it is to Navy but in certain lights you do see the Blue come out more.

I love a cinchable hem. I wish all Lulu pants had this feature.
Pique Wunder Under Crops in Light Grey (LIGP) worn with Modern Racerback Tank in Snorkel/Coal Ombre. I love my Pique Grooves that I got for Christmas and I’ve worn them more then any of my other pants. I really hope we see Pique Relaxed Fit Pants and Still Pants as well. I think there slightly warmer then regular luon but not so much more that you couldn’t wear them in late Spring. I think there more cozy and soft then they are warmer. I would love Still Pants in the light grey pique.

Hustle Jacket Poncho Stripes

by Cristina January 4, 2011
written by Cristina

These are the Poncho Stripe Hustle Jackets (Multi Poncho Stripe, Wish Poncho Stripe and Coal Poncho Stripe) I mentioned this morning that I’ve been hearing about.  I did a fit review of the Hustle Jacket  this morning since I just got one this past weekend and absolutely love it for running as well as for to and from. I don’t really like the poncho stripe print on these for myself as they are a bit flashier then the others and I also think it takes away from the overt femininity which is what I like the most about this jacket. That being said though,  these are also quite fun and young and have a bit of a snowboarder look to them. They also seem to be missing the reflective detailing that the Coal, Plum and Power Purple Jackets had so these may be better suited to To and From then for night time running. * the Coal picture at the bottom seems to have reflective detailing on it. I like how the direction of the stripes on this pattern is placed in different angles on different panels of fabric which may be a slimming effect. Plum Shale Hustle jacket remains my top favourite.

Fit Review ~ Hustle Jacket

by Cristina January 3, 2011
written by Cristina

I’m a little bit late to the party with the Hustle Jacket but with rumours of more Hustle Jackets to come (Poncho Striped) I figured it was still a relevant fit review. I broke down and blew all of my gift card money and some return money on TWO!! Hustle jackets, Power Purple and Plum Shale. I figure, if I’m running 3-4 days a week and keeping one a bit dirty and sweaty for the week, the clean one can be used for to and from and then I can rotate them. I was a little bit worried about the sizing as my only option was a size 8 and I sometimes need a size 9 for tops so probably would have gotten the 10 if it had been available for the purpose of layering. When I got home I tried on a few shirts underneath and I found I could wear my Inspire Pullovers, Chai Time Pullover, Cool Racerbacks + Swiftly Tech SS but when I tried on my Post Run Pullover it was pretty tight in the arms and upper back. I don’t think that’s a problem since I never plan on layering something that thick underneath. If you have broad shoulders or are bigger in the bust you may find snugness in the upper back where it’s a slightly narrower fit then the bottom half but the fit is not at all awkward like some found the Inspire Jacket to be.

Last week when I got back to running after a month off I found my legs were very, very cold with  -1* and windchill so I had considered buying winter running pants even though I would only get about a month of usefulness out of them. When I wore my Hustle Jacket yesterday I found I was warm enough throughout in just a Cool Racerback underneath, Brisk Run Gloves and my Dash Tights. My torso kept so warm that I didn’t even feel my legs get cold at all and I was very comfortable. I usually prefer running in just my pullovers but I think they breath a little better then jackets which means when there is a bit of wind you can feel it. This jacket was so comfortable and soft it felt like it moved with my arm movement and torso movement and not like I was moving against it. I loved having the deep pockets on the sides because I like the easier access. Sometimes I find with back pockets I have to really slow down to walking pace in order to unzip and pull out whatever I need. I didn’t run in the evening but I felt like the amount of reflectivity on the jacket and the placement was exactly what I want, especially running in a neighborhood with few sidewalks. Upper back and chest reflectivity is perfect for on coming traffic and the outer wrist reflectivity catches the eye of drivers when it’s in constant swinging movement.

Another thing I love about this jacket is the bling zipper. It is a very smooth zip up that you don’t have to fuss with while your running. I find some of the zippers, particularly the metal ones catch and drag a bit when zipping and so you need to hold tension in the jacket in order to zip up properly. This zipper is really easy though and just glides up and down. I like the look of the sparkle on this very feminine jacket. I don’t like the bling zipper to be on all items but it really works in the running line, particularly in a design like this one that is meant to have that very feminine look. An odd thing though is that the pocket zippers you need to zip down to close and not up like in other non running jackets. I assume that is meant to make it easier while your running or to keep it more securely closed. It’s awkward when you first discover it but not a bother, just something you need to get used to.

I also wore this jacket yesterday to do some errands and I saw two other ladies wearing these (how can you tell what city your in). One was wearing the same color as me and another lady was wearing the black. The black is a really nice contrast of edgy and feminine so it looked great on her. I just can’t pull of wearing black for some reason but it’s nice to have a neutral colored jacket. This jacket is such a great buy at $145, the only features it’s lacking is cuffins/tuckins and a watch hole. I really love the snug running luon cuffs that you can hide under the sleeve or wear down. My husband thinks they look really silly which is why it’s nice to have the option of pulling the outer sleeve down. When I’m running I don’t care how silly I look, I like having the warm cuffins pulled down. I’m really pleased with this purchase because it’s versatile in that I can use it for running and for to and from and the cost per use ends up being pretty minimal. This one is an A++ for me in design and function.

Duh!!! Raw Blue.

by Cristina December 31, 2010
written by Cristina

I was just thinking how much I love Raw Blue and decided to look online under ‘Shop by Color’ well low and behold the Run Ambition Crops pop up and I just now noticed that the Raw Blue on these are the entire pant and not a contrast color as I had first thought. Some of us have been asking for a while for new fun colors for the run crops since were all Coal and Blacked Out. I may give these a try on Monday when I go back to the store. Raw Blue almost looks black, it’s deeper then Navy so it will look really great with a lot of the items I have (Teal, Lilac, Cool Blue, Snorkel)..but it may look awful paired with other colors. I wonder how this will look with my Plum Hustle Jacket. If I see a pair of tights that are all Raw Blue with no contrast color on them I’ll be all over it. For now, these officially have me intrigued.
