Lululemon to Complete Purchase of 1818 Cornwall Avenue

by Cristina February 16, 2011
written by Cristina

Late last year Lululemon moved the Global Head Office to this popular Vancouver landmark at 1818 Cornwall Ave. as a short term lease but I suspected it may become permanent as the building was slated for ‘revitalization’ as it does not meet current energy efficiency or sustainability standards and was scheduled for redevelopment by March 2013. Lululemon announced yesterday that it has decided to purchase the building with the purchase being finalized in early March. I’m interested to know what plans Lululemon has for ‘luluizing’ the building and making it more energy efficient and sustainable. From what I understand, the neighborhood wasn’t very thrilled at the potential for the building being converted into more high density dwellings so I’m sure Kits is thrilled to have Lululemon take over this building and give it a much needed facelift. The building is 130,000 square feet but currently Lululemon is occupying 70,000 square feet with 300 employees.

Get Focused Tank Detail

by Cristina February 15, 2011
written by Cristina

I’ve been in search of a decent picture that shows off the seam details of this tank because it’s a little bit difficult to describe since I don’t know the correct term (reversed piping?), but it’s a very nicely finished detail that I wanted to point out.  In the bust of this tank you can see some black seams which are actually an underlayer of fabric. the outer layer (Ikat) forms a lip of hemmed edge which gaps and in between those two hems you see the under layer which is black. You can also see those seams on the upper back and in the seam that runs down the centre of the back. You may be able to feel this thicker seam on the inside while working out but it’s a pretty detail anyways that makes this tank a little extra special.

New Socks!

by Cristina February 15, 2011
written by Cristina

These are socks meant for Bar Method Ballet Class and probably wouldn’t be ideal for running with the silicone grips. I do like that it has a silver wash treatment but it sounds like this is quite different from silver yarn and that it washes away after 50 washes. I’ll see if I can get the scoop on these today and what the 50 washes, silver wash business is all about.

Method Sock

Run Record Breaker Vest, Pace Setter Crop and Run Distance Tank

by Cristina February 15, 2011
written by Cristina

I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a run vest to wear over my Run Swiftly LS but this one was a pass today because I need one  with good storage pockets and the only pockets on this vest are the two open shallow pockets that the model has her hands in.

I’m intrigued by the Distance Tank, particularly in Lilac Snow Cone.

Store Report ~ Tried On The Solace Jacket

by Cristina February 14, 2011
written by Cristina

Well I came home empty handed today which made me feel a touch sad considering it’s Valentines Day, it’s pouring rain and I got soaked in order to get myself to the store thinking I’d find something on my *need* list but it was not meant to be today. I tried on the Solace Jacket and found it ran small, probably more so because it’s meant to be a fitted jacket. I think it will look best on petite figures with smaller busts. I found the arms where quite fitted and the chest area was snug so I had to fuss with the zipper to get it closed and it just wasn’t a very graceful type of jacket to close. As you can see in the picture below it’s a short, sort of angled zip.  It wasn’t at all ill fitting or snug in bad way necessarily, I just think it’s more suited to smaller chest, narrow hipped, long legged lucky ladies. If you don’t fall in this category, still try it on but grab a few sizes to see which works best for you.

There were new items in the run line today including this Pace Setter LS which had a lot of color blocking, made of running luon and has a boat neck. I think it was priced at $78 which didn’t strike me as a bad price for something with so much circle mesh paneling. I also saw it in solid black as well as this static coal color. There was also a pretty Pace Setter vest made of glide in Sprinkler but it was a pass because the pockets where very shallow and non zip up and there was just one strip of reflective detail on the back. If I’m going to wear a vest running I want it to have good deep pockets that zip up for my cell phone, Ipod and id and other things I like to carry with me. (ok I carry bear spray with me when I run. So what). And also I want reflectivity all over the place.

Pace Setter Crops. These are low rise, longer length crops with ruching at the bottom around the calf. I didn’t see any reflective detailing so it was a pass for me.

Sprinkler Run Swiftly LS (also came in Flush). Tried this on today as I’m in want of a second LS but I just didn’t love this color on me.

Get Focused Tank, made of luon. Very cute tank if you like a looser around the tummy fit and a more modest bust. I also saw the new No Limit Tanks. Flush/Flush, Sprinkler/Ikat, Coal/Coal Strata Stripe. The Distance Tank in Lilac Snow Cone was very, very cute in person. That went on my maybe list. It’s pretty close to pig pink only paler with a touch of lilac. Also spotted were Sprinkler Scuba (solid) and Flush Scuba (solid).
