*Canada and US are both up now.

Crud. This is an expensive week if you like the Down For A Run Line. I think this years down line is a hit! I passed last year and years prior since either the fit was off for me, the pullovers had some design I didn’t care for or I couldn’t figure out a place in my life I would need a down pullover. This year I absolutely can find a use for down pullovers since I am crossfitting every singe weekday, and doing outdoor soccer with both kids – so a lot of standing around outside in cold weather. I’m liking both the pullover and the jacket a lot and I know I’d like something from this line but I’m having a very hard time deciding what item is just perfect. I think my #1 choice is the Down For A Run Jacket in black but I’m not certain. I also think the jackets are a lot more versatile than the pullovers.

Did you order anything from the down line? if so, let me know what you chose. I’m taking the popular vote into consideration for my own purchase. lol!

These photos are from Lululemon Detroit. I LOVE this series of photos. Here is how the store introduced Ruth:

ruth is 80 years old.
she is…
grandmother to ambassador terra castro.
great grandmother of 7.
a national champion cyclist
and community hike leader.

having spent most of her life in the detroit area (and holding a special place for belle isle in her heart), she is well-versed in what it means to be part of her community.

“community means getting out and enjoying a variety of people. we have so much available that we don’t use. we all count. we all matter. it means getting out and doing what you can with whatever ability you have.” -ruth

Store Report and Fit Review: Down For A Run Jacket, Down For A RunPullover, Down For A Run Vest, Face The Frost 1/2 Zip

by Cristina November 2, 2015
written by Cristina

I felt really rushed this morning and overwhelmed with so many choices so I think I need to go back later today and try some pieces on again. I need to try the Green Vest on again because I think I want to see how I like in a size up, or in another color. I definitely want to try on the jacket in white.

Down For A Run Pullover  $168  TTS 10

This is my TTS 10 and it fits roomier than the down run items from the past two years. I normally find them really snug in the hip and in the shoulders but this year definitely has more wiggle room and was easier to pull over my head than years past. I was really expecting not to like these but I fell in love with the black pullover. The Black Swan would have had my heart with the combo of dark purple with a rose gold zipper but I just didn’t love the light contrasted RULU panels on it. The black just looked so much more slimming with the none tonal panels.

The butt flap in the back wasn’t super great over my ‘curvy’ butt and I wish they had given this pullover the same back that the Down For A Run Jacket has with the quilting and scooped hem but the flap wasn’t a total deal breaker for me. I’m not sure why the flap isn’t symetrical though. Although I do love the green I’m not loving it in this glyde fabric for some reason so I just stuck with Black and Black Swan.

Black

Down For A Run Jacket $198 TTS 10

I also really loved the Down For A Run Jacket and especially loved the back quilting design. I wish I had also tried on the white but I looked at it and worried that I’d never keep it clean so why bother trying it on. Now that I’m home I wish I’d just looked at it at least. This was also a surprising TTS. I always find these down run jackets so snug around my hips that this felt downright loose. It wasn’t loose, but it felt surprisingly unrestrictive. I’m having such a hard time choosing between the pullover above and this jacket. Both are great! I think the jacket is more versatile since you can outfit it better while the black pullover is more commitment to wearing a black pullover with no contrasting color showing to break it up. I’d also never wear the pullover out running since it is so warm, but I do see myself wearing it as a To/From to the gym and worn casually. Especially to soccer practice since it’s become so cold here suddenly.

I really loved the black quilting on it. I found it so flattering and such a nice cut. I wish they combined the front of the pullover with the back of this jacket. That would have made it 100% perfect.

Update: I got to try the white one.

Down For A Run Vest $138, tight TTS 10

I didn’t like the vest, maybe because it was green and didn’t look very slimming on me. The ed that was working today was trying it on in black and it looked amazing on her (plus she’s very thin, tall and blond so there is that). I just didn’t feel tempted by this one at all. It was also snugger fitting than the other two pieces and squashed my bust down quite a bit.

The back didn’t lay quite nicely over my hips/butt area.

The lighter contrast panels, although really pretty, just aren’t very slimming on me.

Face The Frost 1/2 Zip $108

I accidentally grabbed this in a size down which would normally not be a problem for me in a stretchy pullover but because this is tech fleece it lacked the stretch that luon has and it was tight going over my head and my shoulders. Once on it was comfortable and looked nice but I definitely needed my TTS in this and would even possibly consider a size up, just because of the lack of stretch. This came in black and Ultraviolet (I think that’s Ultraviolet – TEVI). Tender Violet!

Sneak Peek: What We Love

by Cristina October 30, 2015
written by Cristina

What We Love is up! I am loving the Down For A Run line and am really torn on what piece I’m loving more. It would be helpful to know what  color options are coming in each piece but for now I’m gravitating to the Down For A Run Jacket. Looks like both US and Canada are getting those pieces.

“We’re also seeing a slight update going into Winter for the Scuba Hoodie III – we updated our fabric so we can now have it in beautiful bright solids and prints! It’s still soft and fleecy, which I know you guys love, but now we can offer more variety in colours.”

I have this color already. I wonder if it may actually be a RULU Cool Racerback and not regular luon light.

Mail Day Fit Review: Menthol Kanto Catch Me Long Sleeve, Drop It Like It’s Hot Tank

by Cristina October 29, 2015
written by Cristina

I know my upload post from Tuesday was pretty ranty but it turns out my items are winners afterall. The Kanto Catch Me Tank in Menthol is stunning in person and incredibly soft and thick. Amazing RULU and my absolute favourite color in a solid without a stripe or pattern. WIN! I was telling Lulu Addict the other night that I went ahead and ordered it because it checked the box of 1. Nice solid saturated color in a color I love, 2. a RULU run pullover in a streamlined design 3. Flattering design. I think I was stuck on hoping for a solid Menthol Tuck And Flow LS or some design that I gravitate to more than the design of the Kanto but I’m so glad I ordered this one anyways. It’s a beauty! The only ‘issue’ with it is that there is some dye staining on it from where it came folded. There are some streaks of darker menthol down the middle of the chest and down one of the arms but I’m pretty certain that the dye will disperse once it’s been washed. I have a CRB that came like this before and after washing it it was fine. I’m so looking forward to pairing this long sleeve with my Alberta Lake Fluffed Up Vest.

Kanto Catch Me Long Sleeve in Menthol – TTS 10

You can sort of see the dye leach stripe in this shot.

Drop It Like It’s Hot Tank – TTS 10

I really, really love this tank. I especially love it in black but I really like it in Menthol too. I got this tank primarily to wear to Crossfit but I also had an eye to wearing it casually in the warmer months. Some readers had mentioned that this tank looks a bit short in the front and I agree that it definitely is shorter than a CRB and I wish it had been slightly longer since I have a really tall torso on my short frame.  That said, I can definitely live with it this length as it’s still well over my hips. This is a looser fitting TTS but it’s not overly baggy, it just floats away from your body. The neckline is also a touch low and loose but I think if you sized down in it you wouldn’t get that pretty blousy look in the side and back. I really love the way the mesh pleat in the back drapes. Love this tank and will consider the other two colors if they ever go on markdown.

Of course this is a US only Ivivva sale. Canadian little girls get a big fat zero thanks to the low Canadian dollar I’m sure.
