Lululemon Royal Ballet Collection, Francesca Hayward, of the Royal Ballet in London

by Cristina

The Lululemon Royal Ballet Collection is live! Click here to access the private shopping page if you didn’t get the email. This collection is available to shop for the next 12 hours. The limited edition capsule was created in collaboration with Principal Dancer Francesca Hayward, of the Royal Ballet in London.

Initially, I was more interested in the cashmere and merino sweater and long sleeve but after looking at all the items one by one I fell in absolute love with the Principal Dancer Corsetry Tights so I ordered those in soot. I also really love the Corsetry Bra in Soot and the Corsetry Jacket. The pretty gold elastic waist on the Golden Lining Tight was also tempting as was the Principal Dancer Hoodie.  Did you order any pieces?

Last year in July, Lululemon did a collection with Taryn Toomey. I think I like this collection a bit more since it’s more fall, and has some beautiful merino and cashmere items.

I bought the hoodie, I love the gold details and sleeves! So different. I’m still eyeing the pants and the funnel neck sweater. Love!

This stuff is fine, though I did ballet from age 3 through college and can’t really imagine wearing any of this for those purposes. It’s also far more expensive than actual ballet gear. And I’m pretty sure a thong leotard is just a bodysuit.

Right there with you LS! I would much rather buy a Yumiko Leo than spend it on Lululemon

I ordered the corsetry tights on the two purple colors to see which I like better and the bralette in black and the cashmere fitted top in black. I figured I can try what I like and then return what I don’t. Thanks for telling us about this, I had no idea surprisingly! Reminds me of fall 2011 dance capsule!

I really like the hoodie and the bag looks cute with the gold details. I’m tempted by the long sleeve but it does appear like it may be a bit too sheer for me. I just purchased the going places hoodie since I passed up last year but am having second thoughts again this year. I sized down from a 6 to a 4 but being 5’2″ it feels just a bit too long for me. I may end up returning it and wonder if this new hoodie might have the same issue. I do love the unique look and shape of the sleeves.

I looked up Francesca Hayward and read that she is 5’2”. The clothing is made with her needs as a ballerina in mind, but shown on a 5’10” model. There is an article in Vogue that shows her in some of the Lulu items from the collection.

I’m tempted by the funnel neck, but I wonder if it isn’t going to look like a sack on someone who’s not 5 foot 10 and a size 4. (I actually kind of feel that way about the whole collection — beautiful on ballerinas, maybe not so much on a size 8?)

Thanks for the heads up! I had no idea there was a special collection. I don’t understand why there is a limited time frame on these items.
I’m eyeballing the corsetry tights and the hoodie with the bell sleeves.

Do you remember how much the Dancer hoodie, long sleeve, and funnel-neck sweater were? Thanks!

Just checked my order and the funnel neck sweater was $108 and the hoodie was $128 on the Canada site. I’m not sure about the LS though.

On the US side, the funnel neck was $108 and the long sleeve was $78.

Is everything sold out? It all says $0.00USD and I can’t add to bag. That ridiculous leotard can’t possibly be sold out, right?
Oh well, moving on…

It was only available for 12 hours or something and only through a special link.

The items are no longer available on the site by searching for it but if you click any of the links above they are still shopable and in stock.

I went back and checked and it said stay tuned in October 9th for the encore. I think maybe it will all upload again on the Tuesday?? Anyways thanks Christina for the heads up! I ordered the funnel neck sweater in lunar rock to try ( this time I ordered both a size 4 and size 6. I had ordered the city trek smoky blush sweater in a 4 but it will probably go back and I wanted it oversized as well. It looked oversized in the model who is also a size 4 which is why I ordered that size. It should arrive today so I’ll give it a try. Christina my beef with you is that you make me spend money! Now I have to try that free people sweater as well. Grrrr! It looks so good on you! ???

Unfortunately the links are not shoppable right now (Friday afternoon)? Unless there’s a trick I don’t know. I would have loved the hoodie in 8 or 10. I didn’t get the email either. 🙁

Ah boo! I’m sorry! This morning I tried various ways and entering in the product names to the search, and the capsule names weren’t working. I was able to click on individual items off my site and access their landing page for purchase (sizes available and able to go in shopping cart) but I could not access a landing page for the entire line. Now it’s not allowing me to even access the individual pieces.

It says to stay tuned October 9th. It will probably upload to the general public without a special link to access it is my guess.

I ordered the hoodie. I wonder if the 12 hour window was to solely gage interest prior to upload? The email was in my spam folder so many people may have missed it that way.

Hmmm I checked both accounts where I have Lululemon emails arriving and both spam folders. No email for me–I wonder if this distribution went to certain customers (higher-volume? I’m guessing). Oh well! That’s okay you can’t catch them all, can you? 🙂

Pretty sure the girl modelling the clothes is Alexandra Waterbury from NYC Ballet who recently made the allegations in a lawsuit against NYCB regarding a culture of serial harassment.

It sure looks like her from online photos. I figured the model wasn’t a professional ballet dancer because she is so tall. She is listed as being 5’9” in her online bio.
I think it’s nice that Lulu has a ballet dancer wearing the clothes from this collection.

I would like to see Lulu use athletes for their online photos. Athletes of different sizes, shapes, and builds would be wonderful.
