Run: Ambition Tights (US store) They look exactly like what I’ve been waiting for. I’m joining a running group in a few weeks once my toe heals from toe surgery and that means at least one night a week of outdoor running. Can’t wait to try these on.

Fit Report – Lift Your Spirits Jacket

by Cristina December 13, 2010
written by Cristina

I went to Metrotown today in hopes of seeing the new SE Sparkle Scuba Hoodies, Cuddle Ups and Sailor Stripe Stride, Relaxed Fit Pants and Power Y but alas it was not meant to be. Instead I tried on the Lift Your Spirits Jacket in size 8 Wish Blue just for kicks. I really, really loved Brushed Power Luxtreme and hope they make a Stride in this material and running crops. It wasn’t as warm as brushed luon or as soft but it felt velvety, thin on the inside which I really liked and stretchy. Sadly the design of this jacket, although slimming just wasn’t cutting it for me. I just couldn’t get over the weird poof on the upper back. In the poof, there are also small pleats in the back that are designed to keep the poof constantly puffed out. As My Superficial Endeavors stated yesterday, the profile of this jacket is very slimming because of the chevron strips and the narrow waist.

The price on this jacket, $148,  is outrageous for what it is. It’s the same price as the Hustle Jacket which has many technical features and is outerwear.  So far we’ve seen price increases in the Stride Jacket and Define Jacket and a very big price tag on the new Challenge Jacket that just came out.  This is a very disappointing trend I’m seeing as a regular shopper considering the qualities issues most of us have seen this past year, particularly with the Strides. I understand that in light of the down economy most retailers are seeing the same reduced quality in fabrics and manufacturing and are increasing prices across the board. However, as a consumer this just reminds me to be a bit more frugal in my choices and really assess the value of a garment, price per use/closet versatility and quality of construction. This one was a pass for me.  How do you regular lulu shoppers feel about these higher priced items?

**Spotted on markdown: Run: Dash LS Lilac, Static Wish and Static Persimmon on for $69 – I passed on these as I’m hoping for somewhere in the $45 range.

Coal and Black Roses Print Live Simply Crewneck Tee tried this on today as well and the print is very subtle on it.

A Year In Review Series – Day 1: Tanks of 2010

by Cristina December 13, 2010
written by Cristina

For my very first ever ‘Year in Review Post’ I decided to do a series of 12 days of Christmas reviews outlining different categories of lululemon items. Todays post features the tanks that came out this year. My personal favourites are the Candlelight Tank for Casual Wear or Yoga, The Yogi Dance Tank and for versatility the Cool Racerback which came out in several forms this year – Static, Special Editions of Circle Mesh, Ruffled, Mesh Back and contrasted with mesh trim. You really can’t have too many of the Cool Racerback Tanks, there so great for working out in and as a layering piece.  Which tanks were your favourites this year?

Tanks of 2010

Tanks of 2010 by lulumum

Row 1 These are the flowey and feminine tanks. I think the winner in this category is the Flow and Go Tank as that one virtually disappeared within the hour of being uploaded to the website and the GEC was constantly hounded on the facebook wall  for people in search of the elusive Flow and Go Tank although it has made many appearances on ebay at highly inflated prices. I would call the biggest flop out of this group the Awareness Tank, although there are a few of you out there that have loved it for it’s excellent tummy coverage, I think overall it did not appeal to the masses.
Power Dance Tank, Yogi Dance Tank, Bliss Tank, Fouette Tank, No Limit Tank, Flow and Go Tank, Awareness Tank, Dash Tank and Hustle Tank.

Row 2 is what I call the lingerie inspired tanks with sweetheart necklines, faux boning details, and corsette detailing along the bust. I’m not sure these tanks were particularily popular but I really liked the Commit Tank as it had great support, modest coverage without looking matronly and had a looser in the midsection fit which a lot of us like. I liked all of these tanks from afar but the only one that really suited me was the Commit Tank, the others felt a bit too flashy around the bust area for my modesty.
Happy Heat Tank, Commit Tank, Alignment Tank, Challenge Tank, Centred Pose Tank, Tadasana Tank.

Row 3 These are the more athletically styed tanks with simpler designs, contrast colors and thicker straps with not a lot of design features. The Cool Racerback made many appearances this year as I mentioned above with several Special Editions. The Wish Blue Circle Mesh Cool Racerback Tank made it into my collection along with a Static Very Violet Cool Racerback. The Mindful Tank made an appearance online but I never did get a chance to see it in stores. I liked the pleated detail across the chest which we saw in a few other items such as the Fouette Tank (first row) and the Cobra Crops but I didn’t care for the back of the tank.
Stand Strong Tank, Inner Strength Tank, SE Cool Racerback Tank, Mindful Tank

Row 4 are the organic cotton tanks. This one is an almost tie for me. The Heart Tank came in two versions, luon light and organic cotton. I much preferred the organic cotton version as it was slightly looser in the midsection. Ultimately for a sweaty work out I would never ever use cotton so I passed on it but am considering it for a future purchase for casual wear if it comes in more patterns. The Candlelight Tank in Multi State of Mind Print was my favourite because the fit is very comfortable and the cotton very, very soft. I love the print most of all on this tank.

Special Edition Sparkle Scuba Spotted

by Cristina December 13, 2010
written by Cristina

Lately some of the new hot ticket items have been making there way into random show rooms first, ahead of mainstream stores. locally, Hari Om Yoga in Langley BC has gotten the Run Dash Pullover and several other highly anticipated items a few days before lower mainland stores. The speculation on facebook about this Scuba hoodie listed here on ebay is that it must have come first from a show room location as the GEC is not showing this in the inventory checks which run 24 hours behind stores. Have you seen this in your local stores this weekend?

My first impression of this hoodie is that I must have it. It’s a gorgeous shade of pale blue and it looks like the sparkle is pretty subtle and I’ve been really eyeing up scubas lately waiting for the perfect one.  I really need to see this one in person though since I thought I was in love with the Casis Sparkle Cuddle Up Jacket when I first saw it in pictures and then I tried it on and realized it did not suit me at all.

There is also a rumour of Sailor Stripe items in a US Showroom and in particular a Sailor Stripe Stride II Jacket. I know there is both a white sailor stripe and a black sailor stripe so I’m curious which version the Stride will come in. I think I may want a Black Sailor Stripe Cool Racerback Tank. Also, there is supposed to be a Manifesto Print Cuddle Up Jacket coming but I’m not sure what Manifesto Print it is. I’ve come to the conclusion that I am not a big manifesto print fan.

**Updated Details: Spotted at local Hari Om Studio, there is a Black Sailor Stripe Stride ($118/Non Brushed) and a Relaxed Fit Pants with Black Sailor Stripe Waist and a black lulu logo (I love that!). This local show room also had the Sparkle Scubas in which may mean that Metrotown has them tomorrow as well.

Lift Your Spirits Jacket

by Cristina December 13, 2010
written by Cristina

My Superficial Endeavors just posted a very helpful fit review of the Lift Your Spirits Jacket (available in Wish Blue) which retails at a hefty $148 (much pricier then brushed luon jackets!). Although I’m really intrigued by the Brushed Luxtreme (would prefer it in the run tights though),  and the fact that it also comes in Wish Blue, I’m really disappointed in the price point of this basic looking track jacket. Check out her blog post, I always find her fit reviews very insightful and look forward to her posts about her latest Lululemon find.

New! Rejuvenate Jacket & Lift Your Spirits Jacket

by Cristina December 12, 2010
written by Cristina

The Rejuvenate Jacket. I’ve decided that although I like the look of the angled zipper on the Run Inspire Jacket, I don’t love it for practical reasons. It just doesn’t leave you with a lot of options on how you wear your jacket, it pretty much needs to be fully zipped or else it hangs open a bit funny. I also think this jacket would be much more flattering in a darker color like Coal or Black.

Lift Your Spirits Jacket, made of brushed Power Luxtreme. The brushed luxtreme is intriguing to me as I was wondering the other day if it would be possible to make a brushed luxtreme version of running tights.

The Newest Define Jacket

by Cristina December 11, 2010
written by Cristina

Here is a good picture of the newest Define Jacket in Coal and Power Purple that was uploaded on Thursday. I’m not a big fan of the Define Jackets personally but I think they look really sleek and structured.  This particular Define seems to have a different zipper on it. It’s either the metal zip or the plastic ones that are meant to look metal or like platinum. I do like those plastic zippers on some of the jackets as it adds a bit of sparkle and bling but I don’t think I want to see those used on everything.

More Pictures from Down Unda

by Cristina December 11, 2010

I like Faded Zap a lot as a contrast color. I have a Flow Y in it and find it contrasts very nicely with a lot of different colors and is also pretty flattering to most people. I was surprised to like the color because I don’t usually gravitate to yellows or very bright colors. I’m not sure I would be brave enough to invest in a Faded Zap (or Sunny Lime, It’s being called both colors in the product notifications) Stride Jacket, I think it will look gorgeous on with many tanks and tees underneath. Today I wore my Faded Zap Flow Y Bra under my Cool Racerback Tank in Power Purple, Heathered Power Purple Micro stripe and it looked really good as a combination.

Stride II Jacket in Sunny Lime or Faded Zap with Micro Stripe Logo. You can also see the Snorkel Blue and Passion Strides below

Run Revitalize Tech in Snorkel and Passion. I like that this is contrasted in something other then the grey we’ve seen before.

Liberty Tee Worn Two Ways

by Cristina December 10, 2010
written by Cristina

I don’t think I’ve seen a picture before of the Liberty Short Sleeve Tee worn both ways before. I think I like the bunched fabric in the front best.  I like the way the fabric drapes over the bust and billows out a bit around the tummy.

The New Hotness From Halifax

by Cristina December 10, 2010
written by Cristina

This weeks video highlights the Hustle Tank quite nicely. I think she looks adorable in the Power Purple Hustle Tank. It gives you some idea of how the ruffles behave with movement.  Also, at the end of the video you can see Chip Wilson dancing with the super hero educators during his visit this past week.
