Upload Thursday Eve Refresher

by Cristina August 10, 2011
written by Cristina

I’ve been trying really hard to behave and not get the Ghost or Heathered Wren Modern Tank or the Heathered Raspberry Lively Tee since I’m trying to restrict myself to running gear only but under the guise of checking out thru the new mobile lulu site on my iphone tomorrow to see how easy it is I may just order one of those three items. Maybe. I’m holding out hope that since lulu has made Modal Relaxed Fit Pants there may be a Modal/Lux Scuba Hoodie or Sing, Floss, Travel Jacket in the near future. Yes please! That would be my only wish list item for fall/winter along with a running luon long sleeve or pullover (heathered raspberry please!). Oh, and I’d love a dark patterned tall length speed skirt since those are my new loves for running. Ahh well, maybe a pretty Cool Racerback or two. That’s all. Modest wish list.

I wonder if there will be any surprise items uploaded tomorrow. There seems to have been surprise items every week for the past 4 weeks. Last weeks surprise item was the Camel Pants.

Whats on your wish list for tomorrow? Or for the coming fall?

Right As Rain Jacket Details

by Cristina August 9, 2011
written by Cristina

Well…I was initially impressed with the pricing on this jacket until I compared it to last years Everyday Yoga Jacket which was in and around this price point and I realized it’s not the same type of rain jacket. The Everyday Yoga Jacket (and the Audrey Jacket) were thicker and warm enough that I was able to wear mine thru the winter in Vancouver.  I do like this jacket because it’s soft and flexible, but that’s because it’s lacking the inner fleece of last years versions of the rain jackets and so this is an early fall jacket or spring jacket that wont transition well to cooler weather. You will probably really like that this jacket isn’t as stiff as the others. I found my Audrey Jacket (although loved it) not so flexible and harder to wear while driving or loading the kids in and out of the car. It’s also easier to wear a long sleeve shirt under this since there is no fleece to cause friction while putting your sleeves on. I tried on the size 10 and it fit well, I would not have been able to get away with the size 8 so I think this runs half a size small. For reference, my Audrey Jacket was size 8 and had some room for thin underlayers. If you’re in the market for a pre winter jacket and will wear something different for the colder months then I think this jacket will be perfect for you.

Product Alert: Right As Rain

by Cristina August 9, 2011
written by Cristina

I posted a couple of pictures of the Right As Rain Jacket last night in this same color but I haven’t been able to confirm if this is Magnum. With the jackets Lulu sometimes doesn’t follow the current colorway and they bring in special colors such as Shark or Ivy with the Audrey Jackets. My guess is this is Magnum but it almost looks like a muted ivy…maybe it’s wren (it’s Wren) These are currently in US stores but I would imagine rainy Vancouver would get them in pretty soon. As soon as I see it I’ll get you the details.

New! Right As Rain Jacket

by Cristina August 9, 2011
written by Cristina

I really like this jacket but I got a rain/winter jacket a few weeks ago that I really like so I wont be in the market for a Lulu jacket. One thing I notice is the zipper is quite different from the jackets last year in that it’s very shinny and obvious. I wonder if its that shiny plastic zipper (from a lot of last years run jackets)  that has the best glide. Hopefully it’s not metal or that clunky plastic zipper that always gets caught up. The color is pretty on this one too, wonder if it’s Wren.

Right As Rain Jacket

Wind and water resistant, sealed zippers and cinch cord in the back.

Lululemon’s website has finally gone mobile!  I’m not sure how easy it is to navigate thru an actual purchase just yet but the next time I order online I will try to do it from my iphone so I can let you know.

Monday Product Drop (Updating Post)

New SE Cool Racerback Tank

the mesh detailing is also on the Run For Your Life Pullover and overlayed over the reflective strip on the back

Run For Your Life Pullover $99: Royal, Magnum and Dewberry

I got this one today! It’s beautiful!!

Dance Studio Jacket Royal

I didn’t see this one today. Or maybe I did because I did notice Dance Studio Jackets but I thought they were just the Grapeseed ones so I didn’t look closely.

Modern Racer Tank Heathered Wren, Heathered Ghost White, Heathered Dewberry

Heathered Wren MRT..Mmmmmm I was soooo tempted by this one and the heathered ghost today. It took everything I had not to buy them both.

I was really sad to not see these Modal Relaxed Fit Pants today. Oh well, its better that I didn’t because I may have been tempted.

Vinyasa Scarf $48

Sadly, it looks like this Vinyasa scarf is the same size as the initial run which was priced at $32. It’s not finished with grossgrain ribbon like the original was either. That being said, I’d have to say this is my favourite one I’ve seen (heathered dewberry running luon) but so not worth the price. I’m quite outraged that an item as simple as this one has seen 3 price increases in one year while the detail to construction has decreased.

Be Me Tee

hmmmmm. This is such an odd duck. It’s knitted like all of the other Rayon/bamboo wraps but the back has a panel of tencil. It’s $78. If you love it I think you can safely wait for markdown on this one.

Run Take Flight Jacket $179

I feel that the price on this jacket is quite outrageous. It’s a really nice jacket but it’s a mid season, cool weather running jacket and it doesn’t have a ton of features. The inside is gradient mesh so you wont get the versatility that some of the other jackets have had. Also there is a lot less reflectivity on this jacket compared to the Hustle Jacket which I was able to wear in cool and cold weather in pitch dark and cost $148. I hate that they call this 360* reflectivity when it only has a little tiny reflective strip on the front at the cuffs. The Hustle had reflectivity on the entire front chest area and that was truly 360* visibility.

A Readers Heads Up

by Cristina August 7, 2011
written by Cristina

A lovely reader wrote in yesterday (thank you!) to tell me she spotted a new Vinyasa Scarf and the price has been increased to $48 versus the original price of $32 (and later $38). This is the scarfs 3rd increase in its year that its been out. I’m hoping the dimensions are greater in this new run making the price increase somewhat justifiable.

Review: My First Speed Skirt

by Cristina August 7, 2011
written by Cristina

Last week I decided to order the Run Speed Skirt (tall) in Snowy Owl to try out since I’ve been running in just crops for the past 2 years now and I was so tired of feeling too hot on my runs and getting bad tan lines on me legs. Lulu shorts just don’t work for me and aren’t made to fit my curvier shape and bigger thighs so I’ve had to stick to crops. Since about April I’ve been trying on every short that lulu has come out with to no avail. They are all too short on me and very unflattering. There have been some that have been ok, Run The Fastest Short, Turbo Short but then the shorts ride up in the middle and look like diapers and that is not a good look.

My order from Thursday decided to take a little longer to arrive so I headed out to my store to see if I can find any tall length speed skirts to try on. I found both the Royalty one and the Snowy Owl and I liked both but found the Royalty one to be more flattering with the undershorts matching the skirt. The size 10 fit perfectly and once I was over the shortness of the hemline I realized what the big deal with skirts is. I used to think it was just a silly fashion statement meant to make you look cute on your runs but I was so wrong. They are perfect for curvier figures in that they don’t ride up creating diaper butt, don’t hug your curves and they disguise butt jiggle while running.

Last night I finally got to take them out for a 3 mile run and they are unbelievable. The fit is perfect and comfortable. My iphone fits well in the gel pocket on the front and since the waist is wider then my running crops the pocket is deeper and almost the entire phone fits inside. I can easily take the iphone out to change songs or playlists and then pop it back in. With my run crops I have to angle the phone in and jam it in there which is a bit of a struggle but eventually it gets safely tucked in, I just can’t take it in and out often to change my playlist. The inner shorts are long enough that I had no friction or chafing while running and it was so amazing to finally get to wear something short for a run. I think I would probably wear this right into the fall since my preference is really to run with bare legs. I will definitely be buying more tall Speed Shorts from now on.

Ivivva Envy

by Cristina August 6, 2011
written by Cristina

I was strolling down West 4th today (to get me some David’s Tea, try on some shoes at Gravity Pope and grab a latte, also saw a new Icebreaker store) and decide to stop in at Ivivva to see what items they have that I could envy. Some of their items are just so cute and would translate perfectly over to Lululemon.  Many of their larger items fit an adult woman size 4/6 so it’s worth giving a try if you see something you love and you’re in the smaller sizes.

Today I saw this gorgeous knitted pullover sweater that I would love to see in the women’s lineup at Lululemon. It’s so pretty to wear over Cool Racerback Tanks and it’s soft just like all of the cashmere wraps lulu comes out with. I’ve been on the hunt for something just like this to wear over my Pure Focus Tank and am so disappointed that we never got anything like it. There was also another version made of luon in what looked like heathered Lolo. *swoooon*. If you’re as enamoured with these shrugs as I am you will be happy to know that the Canadian Ivivva Online Store will be opening on August 15th. Check out the Youtube video below.
