New Product Colors “Static Coal Large Static Wave Stripe”

by Cristina July 5, 2010
written by Cristina

It looks like the fall pattern is this “SCLW” of the Stride I bought this weekend. Lululemon Coquitlam has a wall of new Push Your Limit tanks in two variations of this pattern (I think one had Grey straps and one had the White straps Black but now I can’t remember what the difference was…toddler tantrum going on), Flow Y bra, Power Y tank, Boogie shorts and of course the Stride in the brushed Luon which I love.  I really like this pattern because it goes with all colors from the summer pallet and the new fall colors which is why I chose to get this Stride instead of waiting for the Wish one. I like the versatility of this pattern. The colors on the Boogie shorts may be a hint of colors to come. Looks like a new Kelly like green, Oasis like color, a  deeper orange and chirp like yellow and cool blue is in there. What colors do you think those are?

Light Up Tank Fit Review

by Cristina July 5, 2010
written by Cristina

So I decided to take one for the team again and  give you an honest fit review of the light up tank using a personal photo. This is a size 12 and normally I wear a size 10 but can go down to 8 depending on style. I purposefully chose the Pig Pink for this so you can see that it’s not clinging to imperfections around my middle (which I have after just having had a baby 4 months ago!!!).You may sacrifice support in the shelf bra by going up a size but you can just wear a Flow Y under it and in the front all you would see is a tiny bit peaking at the “v” point. In the back you would obviously see the straps of your Flow Y but if you wear a White or Coal colored one with the Pig Pink it would look not too bad, or you can wear the matching bra under it and you would not see anything. I’ll let you know how it goes running with it tomorrow support wise, today I’m not running because I have Rye neck.  I love the bottom of this top for obvious reasons but also because it looks so cute on with the Run: With it Crops that I love because of the looser at the knee legs with really cute cuffs.  Wearing it up higher like this it stays put and doesn’t slide down. It’s funny, I left the tags on this because looking at it on the hanger I keep thinking I’ll feel self conscious wearing it but when I wear it I feel perfectly fine and modest enough.

PS. I don’t find this too low cut for me. As I said, it mostly covers a Flow Y in the front which goes to show how high up it goes. I think if your really big breasted it may be vavavavoom but not so much for these 36C’s.

PPS. I’m wearing this with my Lulu Crops which tend to give me a bit of muffin top but it’s not too bad with this top.

Run: Jog Skirt

by Cristina July 5, 2010
written by Cristina

It looks to me in this picture of the new version of the Run: Jog Skirt that the fabric is inherently reflective (unfortunately it’s not. checked it out today and it’s just a slight sheen in the fabric) which is what I thought Lululemon was planning with the new run line. I may be wrong about this skirt but that’s what it looks like. The light up tank has reflective strips on the straps but I think the seaming across the front as well as the trim may be reflective but I’ll have to test it out for running. It will really be great for me because I usually head out for my run sometime after 7pm and although I don’t go out in the dark or plan on staying out when it starts to get dark, sometimes I take a longer more scenic route if I’m feeling really good nearing the end of my run and I end up running home in the dark. Or sometimes I run through very thick trails which tend to be darker and want to be visible from far away.  Anyways, I hope Lulu goes with inherently reflective fabrics in the run line…or at least greater areas of reflectivity. Too much reflection may distract drivers.

The more I think about the Light it up Jersey the more I think this is meant for running. I haven’t seen it suggested anywhere that this is specifically for cycling (Just got a product notification on it saying it’s a cycling jersey) so I assume it’s just styled that way but is in fact a running specific jersey. I would love to take in one of my Fuel Belt water bottles to see how it fits in that back pocket. I couldn’t run with anything much bigger than that as Luxtreme tends to bounce when you have anything of weight in the fabric and a bigger water bottle would probably be really irritating on a decent run.. My cousin who is an avid cyclist is visiting from Spain next month and I would love to get her opinion on the top. Who knows, maybe she’ll love it and buy it. I did see a girl wearing the white one today out for a run on our way out of Seattle. My god that city has a massive amount of runners and cyclists.

I returned my Stride II Size 10  at the University Village and got a size 8 instead which was the right decision. The educator told me she had a guest desperate for the size 10 which she would now be calling to let know it’s available so I’m glad I was able to make someones day. I was really surprised that the University Village had so much more new inventory than Pacific Place Mall because Pacific Place always posts pictures of the new inventory and UV hardly ever does so I just assumed that Pacific Place would be the spot I’d find everything I wanted. I didn’t see any of the new Circle Mesh CRB’s but I did see the SE CRB White with Angel edging and Savage Green with White edging.

I stopped in at the Burlington Outlet for maybe 10 minutes and although it was huge compared to Burnaby I liked the selection in BC better. Burlington had many more racks of sizes available but maybe less things that I liked. I was specifically looking for Wunder Unders, Do it All Shorts and Seek the Peek Shorts. All of these I’ve seen at stores marked down (not in my size of course) but the only thing I found here was one light grey pair of WU which does nothing for someone with bulky thighs. I saw lots and lots and lots of Remix Hoodies, Lots of very old styled Groove pants (big rack of size 12’s). The Grooves had the color bands that were (i’m guessing) least popular, such as the green plaid pattern with little frilly skirt. Things like that. I saw Savasana Wraps for $99 in Grey and Black and tons of Flashback crops, pants and skirts.

Today was a pretty busy day of travel, returning my Stride and visiting both the Children’s Museum and the Woodlands Zoo. If your travelling with little ones to Seattle I highly recommend doing the Children’s Museum and the Zoo on the day your coming home. We let the toddler run around like mad all day long and she had so much fun seeing new things and having a whole day dedicated to her experience of Seattle that she slept for most of the way home (3 hours!!) even though she had had her usual mid morning nap already.

Browsed Lucy Activewear…

by Cristina July 4, 2010
written by Cristina

and I didn’t like it much. The running pants looked very similar in style to Lululemon Luxtreme pants but the Lucy ones were made of a Luon like material that was not as nice and soft as Luon but thicker and slightly scratchy. It had almost the identical Circle Mesh panels in the same design pattern. Lucy had a lot more patterns and prints which I don’t like too much of because  you have to be careful about patterns that can be unflattering on certain body types. I think when Lulu has done patterns they have been well thought out and pretty versatile across the board.  An interesting thing they were selling was the activewear laundry detergent (Win?). I didn’t get any because I think this is just a low residue detergent which I buy at home for a quarter of the price. This was a very, very tiny bottle and it didn’t really say what the difference was between this and regular detergent so I’m not convinced it’s not just a marketing ploy. All in all I didn’t find any temptations at the Lucy store which was a good thing.

Shopping Report for Seattle

by Cristina July 4, 2010
written by Cristina

I ended up buying the I Just Wanna Run Tech in Pig Pink today because I love the cinched bottom and I fell in love with Pig Pink. It’s a really flattering ballerina pink and this top also has the contrasting but very thin and subtle Grey stripe. This top looks so cute on when it’s cinched all the way and bunched around the tummy. I bought it for street wear and not necessarily  for running because it looked so cute on. Although it is very light and airy and the roomier a running top is the cooler you stay. Sized down on this and it’s still pretty roomy but I wouldn’t have sized down two. I wish I could find a picture of this top cinched up for you but all I can say is try it on that way if the IJWR does funny things to you with all of that rouching

Got the new Stride II in distressed Luon in “SCLW” (Coal and White Stripes) and will be returning the Black one on Monday. I don’t think I’ll end up getting it in Wish because that will be too hard for wearing whatever underneath and matching. This goes with everything without feeling like I’m wearing all one color. I love the distressed Luon because it feels like more of a Pima Cotton than regular Luon, I hope this doesn’t mean it pills more. The educator assured me that that is not the case. Hmmm.  I was able to size down in this one but I’m actually going to try and get a size 8 because it is more fitted and I’m loosing the baby weight so I don’t want it to be too big. The 10 looked good on but it really had a bit too much room in the arms.

Light it up tank in both Wish and Pig Pink. This top I loved on because of the cinched bottom. I sized up to a 12 (pretty smart of lulu to make this up to 12). the cinched bottom allows you to wear it up resting at the top of your hips and it bags up around your middle to hide the loves. I was worried that the lighter pink would show imperfections but because of the cinched bottom it’s a forgiving top. you can also wear this pulled down and flat against your tummy and it hits me at the middle of my hips. With a tighter pair of pants wearing this stretched down it would show loves. The top part of the tank has similar support to the Flow Y although maybe slightly less support. I tried it on with my Flow Y underneath and it only shows a tiny bit at the V part of this so it’s ok. For running I will try it without the Flow Y but if that’s not enough support I can wear it with the Flow Y. For Street wear I would not double up. Oh, and getting cups for both tops was like pulling teeth. I was told that I could have one set of cups because they weren’t sure if they had anymore. So I told them I would by ONE top because I wasn’t sure how much $$ I wanted to spend. So I did end up getting cups for both tops.

I tried on the light it up Jersey in Grey and really, really liked the look of this on but was confused about why there was not much for reflectors at the back. For running you usually run towards traffic so you see cars head on, makes sense to put reflectors at the front. For cycling you ride with traffic so you need to be seen from behind by cars as well as the sides. This top looks like a cycling jersey but it was in the running section and the technical aspects are made with runners in mind. This top looks great for street wear  but I don’t think I would ever buy this for running. I think it would be a really cute golf shirt.

Canada Day Musings

by Cristina July 2, 2010
written by Cristina

Was at the family holiday park (euphemism for trailer park) at Harrison Lake with the whole family (husbands side) and it was so funny that four of us women were wearing variations of the same Lululemon outfits. My mother in law was wearing a really pretty *Blue Remix (not sure the color) and some Groove Crops, my sister in law was wearing a Grey Remix, Oasis 5yr Pima and Groove Crops, My brother in laws girlfriend was wearing her Lulu Crops and a Pink Remix and I was wearing my dark Classic Sports Grey Lulu Crops with my Angel Blue Free2Be and Potion Purple 5yr Pima. Too funny!

On a side note to this ramble, the other day I purchased the Stow’n Go on line for $29 all the while thinking that I would never wear this and couldn’t think of a single occasion in which I would need it. I had second thoughts and decided to cancel the order. Well today while we were picnicking at the lake in the pouring rain with no shelter I decided that I would have absolutely worn that darn Stow’nGo jaket today for $29 or even at the full $88 price (ok, not really, but you get the idea).

Happy Canada Day!

by Cristina July 2, 2010
written by Cristina

eh! by lululemon athletica.
Were off to Seattle tomorrow for our “stay-cation” so I’ll be posting on the road whenever I can. I’ll be checking out the University Village Lululemon, Pacific Place Lululemon and maybe to the Burlington store and the outlet. All depends on how things are going and how happy everyone is. I’ve decided I’d also get a nice Spa treatment as the hubby got to golf and boat all day today while I had the kiddies. I’m thinking a pedicure and a facial will do just fine. I’ll definitely be getting the light up tank and size up as I heard it’s definitely a size up type of top. I’ll try to try on all of the new items I can and give you a report on fits and functionality (running wise). I’m really stoked about the reflectivity of this new tank, I just hope the built in shelf bra is as supportive as a running bra because that would be lame for Lulu to make a running focused shirt with a built in bra that is not a built in high support bra. I’ll make sure to grab some cups for these too.

Light Up Tank (Thanks to Zanna on Facebook)

by Cristina June 30, 2010

Light Up TankLight Up TankAlternate View

Description
  • Let your light shine with this medium support, performance tank
  • Luxtremeâ„¢ feels silky smooth on, and is light weight with inherent wicking performance to keep you dry and comfortable
  • Reflective features keep you safe on night rides and runs
  • Body mapping mesh panels to keep you cool while you heat up
  • Anti-sitnk circle mesh liner with pockets for removable cups
  • Flat seamed for chafe resistance

Yay Reflective features!!! Finally!!! It has a built in bra (wish it didn’t) So does that make the matching bra an actual high support running bra or did they make it a matching Hot Yoga bra? I bet it’s the latter.

Thursday Upload: Mystery Bra Top

by Cristina June 30, 2010
written by Cristina

This is a picture of the mystery bra top that matches the mystery tank that was removed from the album. I think this is another one of those “training” bras that only fits narrow boobed AA’s. I hope I’m wrong because it looks really cute and would work for nursing.

Thursday Upload: I Just Wanna Run Tech SL

by Cristina June 30, 2010

This is very pretty in Wish Blue. Too bad this tank never looks on me like it does in the picture or on other people. Size up, down or True to Size the back bags out on me and the ruching does some weird funny business. Not sure if it makes me look shorter or like all that ruching is back fat or what it is but it just doesn’t work on me.
Oh well, this has a lot of fans out there that can wear this quite nicely so enjoy.
