These are some new items we can expect to see Boxing Day, not the sale items. The new beautiful blue I’ve been writing about is called Baroque Blue, and the floral print is called Petal Pop Multi.
A product alert image of the Straightup Stripe Black/White Cool Racerback I posted about yesterday.
This month, I got the pique mini check Forme II jacket, the Harmonious Hoodie (love! one of my top favourites) and the Green Bean Cool Racerback. I loved the Harmonious Hoodie so much that I ended up getting a second one in black later on in the month since I was wearing my cornflower blue one so much. I loved that the inside is a soft jersey cotton while the outside is a non blended merino wool. Warm and cozy yet still light weight. The two items I disliked the most this month (don’t hate me if you loved them!) Are the Avenue Pullover which I know was quite popular, and the It Makes Two Wrap.
I went to my local Lululemon today in search of last minute gift ideas as well as to hunt down those darn Parallel Striped Runday Crops that I desperately want to try on. No luck on those today but they did have this beautiful new Cool Racerback that followed me home in Straightup Stripe White/Black. The material is nice and opaque, and the composition is 47%nylon, 45% polyester and 8% spandex. I think this will likely be uploaded later tonight.
Going through September items and there are so many great pieces. One item I really badly regret not getting was the Urbanite Blazer. I loved it when I saw it but for some reason the price of $178 seemed too steep and so I figured it would sit on shelves for a few weeks while I thought about it or get marked down but by the time I decided I needed it it was gone in my size. Oh well, maybe its a design that will make a comeback at some point.
I really loved Cornflower a lot this month so I ended up getting both the 105f Singlet and the Ebb To Street Tank and I got the tweed Studio Softshell which I’ve gotten tons of use out of. One thing I hated this month was all the Ziggy print stuff, and it came in every color in both bottoms, pants, jackets and tops. Blech! I know ziggy print has a lot of love out there but there was just SO much of it that it seemed to take over for about 3 solid weeks. We also saw green bean make an initial appearance in the paisley printed speed shorts.
This is the ‘Fast Turn’ design I mentioned in my last post that sold out within minutes on the website. Fast turn designs are made out of recycled fabrics and are not part of the design plans throughout the year but bonus items that are quickly designed, created and put out to market in order to make use of garments that had not worked out.
Without fail, August and December are consistently my spendiest months at Lululemon. Thankfully, I always know that the Fall/Winter items are my most favourite and also year round versatile and so I tend to hold back a lot on the spring summer spending in order to buy what I like come August. The last two years though, August has also had the Seawheeze which includes commemorative items at the expo so I definitely went way over budget this August.
The Forme Jacket did not have a lot of love as the Define Jacket replacement, and it had a lot of wonky fit issues in its first version. The Forme II Jacket came out in this angel wing hyper stripe print and I was just mezmorized by it. I ended up buying it on whim and I absolutely fell in love with it and still its my favourite. I actually love the fit of the Forme II Jacket over my old Define Jackets now.
Another favourite buy was the incredibly soft and light Tuck and Flow LS’s. They are just perfect for crossfit warmups, and integrate well into my casual wear as well thanks to its simple and minimally athletic looking design (no mesh armpits!!!) . I got both the Angel Wing Slalom and Plum.
I got a TON of Cool Racerbacks. Seriously, a lot. I love all of them and they all fall into my regular rotation so I don’t feel bad at all. Solid Plum, Plum/Raspberry Hyperstripe, Inkwell/Blue Moon Hyperstripe, Midnight Iris, and my Seawheeze CRB’s
The Dance Studio Jacket III. This jacket got tons of hype since Lululemon decided to discontinue the popular jacket the year prior. Thankfully, after some minor design tweaks they brought it back in a color I love.
Plum In The Flow Crops. Super pretty!
The Tech Mesh Tights were not a design for me but they were extremely popular. It was one of the first Lululemon ‘Fast Turn’ designs which are designs that are created ad hoc outside of the normal design timeline in order to reuse products that didn’t work for one reason or another. In this case, the sheer luon from the recall was used to create these (panelling at the butt to prevent sheerness) and a long luon skirt. Scuba vests, run skirts and more items where created. I know the ‘fast turn’ designs were fodder for some news articles but I really think its such a creative and great way to reuse materials. Some of these fast turn designs sold out within minutes online and so I’d call that a great success!
My Seawheeze 2013 Cool Racerbacks
Hugely popular Sea Check Multi Speed shorts. I so wish these worked for me.
July was the month of Mondrian and Lichtenstein color inspirations and designs. I loved the colors individually; Love Red is the perfect coral red, sizzle was so similar to Mac N Cheese from 2008ish which I love pairing with Soot. Spry Blue detailing on Love Red shorts for some reason are the colors I think about when I think about the Lululemon brand – there is something very nostalgically lululemon about those colors for me. I don’t know if it reminds me of their manifesto, of a retro design, of a first website or an old shopper….something about it is very nostalgic of the brand for me. This month I got a few Cool Racerbacks and the Track Attack Shorts but really not much else – I expected August to be a crazy month.
These shorts don’t work for me but these colors are so classically lululemon to me
I LOVED the Track Attack Shorts. They are the first pair of lululemon shorts that worked for me and are as cute and collectable as the Speed Shorts are. Unfortunately speed shorts do not work for my body type but these Track Attack Shorts where absolutely perfect for me to wear to Crossfit in the heat of summer for someone that prefers the modesty of crops. I got the Black/White Twin Stripe pair.
Wunder Unders luxtreme where a huge, huge hit. I really wish I’d have gotten a pair but I sort of take plain black crops for granted. I definitely have these on my list of things to get during the lulu drought months.
We started seeing hints of the fall colors to come with Plum (which we thought at the time was going to be Bordeaux again) and Blue Moon. I didn’t get anything in blue moon but I attacked Plum.
The Promenade LS did not call out to me but that was the design that really had me seeing the Mondrian inspiration. I loved the Devotion LS from the prior winter and so I didn’t give these much of a chance.
Blissed Out Jacket had potential but when I determined that the back was made out of tencil it was a total write off for me. I really loath tencil as it fades horribly, creases and pills. It just looks so ratty after a couple of washes that I can’t appreciate the cooling properties of the silky material.
Hip To Be Zen Tank
The Speedy Runsie was actually quite a cute design but unfortunately it had strange fit issues with the shorts being super tight and short and the top portion being very blousey. I can see wearing this in the black colorway on a Vegas or Hawaiian vacation where you want to look chic and put together, but casual.
