Fit Review: Run Weightless Crew, Great Granite Mojave Tan Cool Racerback

by Cristina July 21, 2014
written by Cristina

My store didn’t get a ton of new items in today, Heathered Magenta Swiftlys and Magenta WAFS Cool Racerback, Great Granite Black Mojave CRB, Wunder Under Crops, Bring Back The Track Jacket and this Bruised Berry Run Weightless Crew. The weightless crew is totally cute but I am holding out for the Tuck And Flow LS’s so I didn’t feel tempted to get it. It is a slouchy loose fit but I still call it TTS because its a bit shorter in length and sizing down would make it that much shorter. I think this style is best suited to being oversized and slouchy around the middle.

I was quite surprised by the Great Granite Cool Racerback. Truthfully I’ve kind of hated the print in pictures as it really reads granite, but once I tried it on I really liked it a lot. I’m not sure why, but I think it looks a lot edgier in person than it does in pictures. Let me know what you think of the CRB, I like it but I’m feeling undecided.

Product Drop Monday:: Bring Back The Track Jacket

Bring Back The Track Jacket, Great Granite Black Mojave

I’m glad to see stores are getting product drops today ahead of Tuesdays upload. I’d really like to be able to buy things in the store vs. upload so that my local stores get the benefit of my sales without the hit of exchanges.

Crossfit WOD

by Cristina July 21, 2014
written by Cristina

This is how I feel in the mornings when my workout bud picks me up. She is a morning person and I am not. She’s the person that when we get to the gym, in the middle of winter at 6am, if the coach isn’t there she gets out of the car and does jumping jacks to warm up and encourages everyone else to do the same. She is awesome and I am a crusty bitch in the morning. Not sure how she stands me but she does.

Todays warmup was 400 meter row, 2 rounds of 20 super slow goblet squats, then 3×8 Ring Rows with feet up on boxes alternating with 8 pushups.

WOD: Super Grace (time)

50 Clean and Jerks 115bs/85lbs

I waffled on what weight to use for this workout. I set up heavy, then dropped weight, then my workout buddy reminded me that the heavier weight was appropriate, so I took the weight off the bar and restacked it in a configuration that gave me the option of quickly removing plates if it got too heavy instead of having to take off 15lbs and putting 10lbs on. I ended up doing 65lbs and was able to stick with that weight for the full workout. I was slow at 10:15 but I found that weight for that many reps challenging and I could feel that niggling pain in my wrist again so I didn’t want to hammer out the reps. I don’t think my wrist issue is lack of flexibility, I suspect it’s hyperextension. I have double jointed thumbs and I think what is happening is that they are hyperextending with the heavier weights resting on my thumbs. I did learn some new mobility techniques for hands and wrists using a lacrosse ball. Check out the video myofascial release of the hand, it is gloriously painful and effective.

Magenta WAFS CRB, Vintage Pink Energy Bra, Black Roll Down WU’s.

I like this CRB but I don’t think I’m in love with it. The colors photograph much brighter than they are in real life. The Heathered Magenta Swiftly however is vibrant and pretty and I considered exchanging this CRB for the swiftly SL but in the end I didn’t.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale – Active Wear

by Cristina July 18, 2014
written by Cristina

As mentioned, tomorrow I’m going to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in Seattle which I’ve gone to for the past three years. Normally I’d be on the hunt for either fall boots, purses or jeans but I haven’t really seen any *MUST HAVE* items except for these two lovelies down here which are currently out of my price range. Also, the Frye boots I’m eyeing I think I’d need the extended calf version which isn’t in any of the Seattle area stores. So I think tomorrow I’ll be checking out the athletic apparel instead. Those of you that got early access or are shopping today, what did you buy? Any great athletic apparel finds?

My Picks!

Nike Legendary Print  Reg Price $90, sale $59.90

Zella Essential Jacket Regular Price $88, Sale price $58.90

Zella Easy Hooded Top Regular Price $58, Sale $37.90

My favourite gym/multi purpose tote – Regular price $70, sale $52.49 (25% off)

Zella Pretty Hoodie Reg $78, sale $49.90

Hanky Panky – 4 for $52

Crossfit WOD

by Cristina July 18, 2014
written by Cristina

Today’s Crossfit WOD was great and I just about missed it by sleeping in for an extra 20 minutes. I knew the workout ahead of time and I really didn’t want to miss this one so I bounced out of bed when I realized I was going to be late. Today was Strength Total day which is three strength movements at your 1 rep max and then your score is the total amount of weight lifted. I was just thinking this past week that it had been a really long time since my last one rep max and I wasn’t sure what weight I’d be at for deadlifts since it’s varied quite a bit. I didn’t quite make my goal for deadlifts, I would have loved to have gotten to 220lbs, but I am happy that I was over 200lbs. I had great partners today too, a girl who lifted 220 (she is my benchmark) and a new guy who is learning the strength lifts. I’m taking tomorrow off since we are heading to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but I’ll be back to the gym on Sunday.

Power Lifting Total (465)

*Back Squat (1 Rep Max) – 155

I think I could have gone heavier with Back Squat but we only had 11 minutes and I started light so we ran out of time.

*Bench Press (1 Rep Max) – 105 Definitely this was my 1 rep max. 106 would have been a fail.

*Deadlift (1 Rep Max) – 210 Attempted 215 and failed.

I was going to wear my shorts today but its cooled off a bit so I went with my soot light In The Flow Crops, Bruised Berry Inner Heart Bra, Currant Red CRB.

Heathered Jewelled Magenta Swiftly SL, and Jewelled Magenta WAFS Cool Racerback

by Cristina July 17, 2014
written by Cristina

A few more store photos of Heathered Jewelled Magenta Swiftly SL, and the WAFS Jewelled Magenta CRB. Store pictures have been slow today except for tons of Noir line photos which is sucky since they are not available to everyone at this point.

Why?? Lululemon Wunderlust 2014

by Cristina July 17, 2014
written by Cristina

Why is Lululemon making all these great designs for Wunderlust and the main Lululemon line is getting nothing but black, white, cadet and sheer mesh? I really like these Wunderlust Wunder Unders…probably not enough to chase them down, but enough to wonder why Lululemon is putting all their creative juices on these limited exclusive runs that leave the main Lululemon customer in the dust. It feels like Lululemon is trying to reinvent the wheel with these urban, edgy black and sheer mesh designs (lab capsules, &go line) when those are not the items that gained them an audience in the first place.  They are great as accent pieces within the Lululemon design lineup, but not when it is all we are seeing for weeks on end. In the meantime, all those pop up shops that have opened up across Canada over the summer are closing down early than expected (leaving short contract eds in a lurch) because allegedly, those stores have only been stocked with basics like black wunder unders, limited CRB’s and black groove and astro pants and haven’t been given a comprehensive product lineup that would actually attract customers that already own those core black items.
