By now you’ve probably heard that Health Canada and the US Safety Commission have issued an alert to certain Lululemon Jackets and Hoodies that pose a safety risk because of the elastic drawcords, and you’ve had probably a dozen well meaning and snickering friends share articles on your facebook feed. Or you’ve panicked at the thought of your hoodies being confiscated by the government. As a result of this alert and mass hysteria, Lululemon has proactively decided to recall the drawcords that are causing the injury and are offering none elastic drawcord replacements if you would like them. Or, you could remove the drawcord altogether and not replace it. The jackets themselves have not been recalled, you are simply being offered a non lethal version of the drawcord and being made aware of the potential risk in continuing to use an elastic drawstring near your face. If you have a lululemon jacket with an elastic drawcord like this, you’ve probably experienced the searing pain of having the cord fling up at your face, or you’ve said a quick ‘Thank God!’ when it just missed your eye. This alert may seem silly but those elastic drawcords are definitely a hazard if you aren’t careful or aware, especially since they are especially long. I still remember getting hit in the face by one when my I was putting my then three year old daughter into her car seat and the elastic got caught under her. As I pulled away and the elastic drawcord got released it snapped back hitting me in the eyebrow with force. That day, my three year old learned to say ‘MotherF*cker!’.
There is not an exhaustive list that I have seen that shows all of the products affected but I have included some informative photos below to help you identify which items should be replaced if you choose to get a new drawcord. It’s actually really simple to switch over to a new draw cord. You just attach the new non elastic drawcord to the old one with a safety pin and just pull the old one out until the new one is threaded in entirely. Voila!

Looking at my Dance Studio Jackets I assumed they were also elastic but actually, they are not.
What We Love is up and thankfully I’m not in desperate need for any of these pieces although upload surely will have some things. I got the What The Sport Tee in Grapefruit in my store on Monday and have worn it for my 7 mile run that same night. I absolutely love it and cannot recommend the mesh version enough. I ended up returning the Iris Flower despite loving it because it’s just slightly warmer and less airy in the seriously sheer luon vs. the mesh and decided I really only need one flowey tee for running purposes. I’m loving the Gator Green In Flux Jacket and if the crops come out in the same color I will be all over them. I got the Gator Green Street To Studio Crops which I really like a lot and will likely keep but if there are In Flux Crops in that color I’d prefer those.

I just wanted to share some real life photos of my new Nike Pegasus 32’s which I just picked up at my mail depot in the US. In LOVE with these! I’m surprised how good these feel on compared to Nike Frees which I’ve never been a big fan of. They just feel more substantial and like a true running shoe. I think they will work well for transitioning into my Seawheeze training. I will definitely give you a proper review once I’ve worn them out for various runs.
And since it’s a day of frivolous prettiness I thought I’d share my new Starbucks Cold Cup Tumbler I picked up this morning. My local Starbucks had three in this morning which I spotted before school drop off and then about an hour later I decided I needed it and when I went back they only had the one left. Apparently the other surrounding stores are all sold out. I haven’t seen it online on the Canada or US online store yet but if you spot it let us know in the comments.

I’ve been on the hunt for new neutral shoes for Seawheeze since the runners I’ve been using I purchased on a whim while torturing my feet walking through New York back in October. They have served me well and my feet aren’t fussy as long as the shoes are neutral and not overly cushioned but after seeing tons of photos on Instagram and Pinterest and the blogosphere and facebook groups I decided to get some Seawheeze specific shoes. Aren’t they beautiful???! I’ve been obsessing like a freak since I first saw them. Like a good half marathon runner I tried the Nike Pegasus shoes in another color at a local running store just to make sure before ordering online since these are not available in Canada. I’ve never run distance in Nikes and was a bit concerned that they wouldn’t suit my needs but they are good at first fit. I’ll be sure to give you a review of them once I’ve done my long run (hopefully on Sunday) and track speed work on Monday morning. If they suck for running they will at least be great for Crossfit and casual wear. My Crossfit shoes are sorely in need of replacing. For some reason my Crossfit Nano’s stink super bad while none of my other runners have bad odour.
Once I was sure the shoes where good for my feet for running purposes I first made the mistake of ordering on Footlocker.com. Expensive shipping charge to Canada, my order is still in ‘processing’ limbo after 4 business days and a weekend. They assure me my order will at some point complete (they refused to cancel my order) and that I would get an email tonight but that didn’t happen. When my order does finally complete and ship out it will take a minimum of 22 business days to arrive at my doorstep. Mmmhmmm…in 2015. Unfortunately I will be out of town around that time and seawheeze is just around the corner and I need to wear them for a good amount of time before that weekend so I decided to order from Nordstrom (image link below) and they shipped out within 1 day for free and have already arrived at my shipping depot in Blaine (Hagen’s if you are in the Lower Mainland and wondering) and I’ll be picking them up this weekend. I plan on immediately returning my Footlocker purchase (or passing them on to someone interested in size 9’s) and keeping the Nordstrom ones. Definitely if you are ordering online go the Nordstrom route. Good return policy, good shipping and good customer service. I’ve ordered some items from Nordstrom directly to my home address in Canada but not all of their products are available to ship to Canada.
