Self-Isolation Fashion Trends ☆ Tie-Dye Sweatshirts from Lululemon

by Cristina

More in Self-Isolation Fashion Trends Tie-Dye edition! Part 2 of the LA Pullover Hoodie. If you didn’t catch it, here is Part 1, and an earlier post on the trend. Lululemon sweatshirts are where it’s at this season!

LA Pullover Hoodie

My favourite of the two lululemon sweatshirts is this one.

I really love this outfit. I love both colorways in the LA Pullover Hoodie .

Wunder Train High-Rise Tights in Heathered Graphite Grey

Another item that has been a huge hit for me are these Wunder Train High-Rise Tights in Everlux in this Heathered Graphite Grey. They are so silky soft!

Vince Warren Slip-On Sneaker

Another big winner for me in the loungewear category has been these Vince Warren Slip-on Sneakers that I got on sale recently for my birthday. I’ve wanted them for a while since they are the perfect slip on sneaker for leggings, but wouldn’t bite the bullet at their full price. The sale price right now is great!

These are my TTS size 9 and they are incredibly comfortable right out of the box. I highly recommend them if you’ve been looking for casual shoes to wear with your joggers and leggings!

The neck looks wonky. Was going to purchase the white one until I saw that.

I know that we all want comfort right now and I know that tie dye track suits are a trend that various athletics companies are pushing, but I really don’t see the appeal at all. I just find these (and most other examples that I’ve seen) incredibly ugly. But I agree that these are unusual times, and I suppose comfort trumps style right now.

It seems silly to buy something you’ll not wear again in “real life”. We all have plenty of comfortable clothes in our closets. I prefer just to dig deep and wear things I may have forgotten about. I’ll save my purchases for when I can be out and about again.

It may seem silly to you but to be clear, I will be wearing this again in ‘real life’. Quarantine has already been two months long and may be up to six or more so our clothing choices right now are not as ephemeral as you may think they are. This is a huge cultural shift with huge historical significance in ever aspect of our lives from politics, the economy, all the way down to retail and fashion choices. We won’t really see this shift fully congealed until we are past it and can look back on it. You can hold your nose at it, or watch in curious interest to see how fashion changes during this important time. I think the tie-dye is more than just a celebrity or influencer trend. It nods it’s head to ‘dawning of the Age of Aquarius’ era during the 80’s. It may also be an economically informed style trend pushed down from retailers wanting to invigorate stale merchandise while they hold off on making Fall/Winter orders. Who knows. Either way I’m here for the ride.

I thank you for sharing your perspective because it is also culturally significant sentiment at this time.

What did you say?

Would I normally wear something this ‘out there’ as far as a print and style? No. In normal life I would be a little shy to wear something this whimsical and campy even if I did really love it. Sure I’d wear it at home, or on a road trip but not ‘out’ as an outfit.

So I believe “normal life” equates to “real life”.

Right. whatever. Those are still the places I would wear the sweatshirt but now I would also wear it to the grocery store and school pickup and to-from the gym and all the places a sweatshirt would normally be appropriate…. I think the point you are trying to make is YOU don’t like it, and that’s perfectly fine.

AND….just like that, the tie dye sweatpants are sold out! It’s probably better anyway, since I really love the white ones, but I probably would have been too afraid to wear them around. I never do well with white!! I get too paranoid about what I’m sitting on and if it’s dirty at all.

I’m still planning to get the white sweatshirt. Fingers crossed that doesn’t disappear too quickly! I’ve decided to sell some stuff off before I purchase something new.

Thanks for the reviews!!

I know I saw that this morning when someone mentioned it on the Facebook group. I checked both the US and Canada side and sweatpants are gone, and sweatshirts are dwindling.
