Meghan Markle Wool Coat

by Cristina

You guys probably already know how much I love my Mackage coats. I’ve been a huge fan of the Canadian brand for years and have a wool coat by them, and a leather jacket that you’ve seen me wear a ton. I was so excited to learn this morning that the jacket Meghan Markle was wearing  (seen here this morning on their first official tour at Nottingham) is from Canadian brand Mackage, and it’s currently available online! I’ve already given my husband a wish list but I think I’m going to have to amend it to include this jacket. Don’t you wish they were having a winter wedding? I think it would be so elegant and different for a Royal wedding in the winter. The outfits would be more exciting and elaborate, and Catherine wouldn’t be immediately postpartum and with a newborn, or very pregnant.

I mentioned already a few weeks ago that I was on a wool coat hunt for Black Friday and I did end up finding one I love by Fleurette but it was very pricey. I’ve found several on eBay and I’m almost ready to pull the trigger. Basically what I’m after is a cozy, soft cashmere/wool blend that drapes beautifully and is easy to wear and not stiff. I want something I can dress up and look elegant in, or wear with a pair of sneakers and a sweatshirt. Check out all the eBay options here!

I’m overall a fan of Meghan’s looks but this handbag she’s got here I am not a fan of. The bag is by Scottish brand Strathberry. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this style of bag with the fold over metal clasp on youtube bloggers, and I wasn’t enchanted with the design detail. The pricing isn’t outrageous though for a luxury handbag which is nice, so it’s definitely an appealing price point for a luxury bag. I’m saving my pennies for this Chloe bag which has a similar metal hardware detail on it. One day in 20 years I may just have enough.

I love long fall/winter coats. One of my favorite coats I have is a wool/cashmere grey Alberta Ferretti full length coat. It has such a feminine silhouette with hidden buttons down the front of the coat. I also love Chloe bags! I have a couple and have had an eye on their classic style in grey. Haven’t pulled the trigger yet but I’ve been thinking about it for a couple of years. I just don’t have much need for such a high end bag anymore and I have enough to last me a lifetime. I also love Celine bags.

I really like the Chloe bag you have your eye on. Fingers crossed that your pennies will add up quickly, well before 20 years!

I loved her coat too. I am also into long and wool winter coats and seeing that I live in Ottawa, I justify getting a new one each year. Our winters are long and cold.

I’ve been tempted by Mackage coats for the longest time but I’m stuck deciding on size. My measurements are 40″-29″-40″ and so an hourglass. Based on their size chart their large “may” fit my bust, but then the waist would be too big. For a coat that is $800 I’m hoping I don’t have to tailor it to take the waist in 🙁 So I have not pulled the plug yet. I may try one in person next time I’m in Montreal…

I’ve so had it with brands only cutting for ruler or pear shaped women 🙁
