Upload!!

by Cristina March 12, 2013
written by Cristina

Nothing for me tonight. I like the Very Green Swifly Tech LS but I don’t wear them often at all so can’t justify. Originally I was wanting to get a Faded Zap CRB but it’s a polyester version so I’m taking a pass. Some retro ‘online only’ Power Y’s have been uploaded. I think these colors are from 2011 or early 2012 and will be the regular luon thickness (not luon light).

Looks like the swim wear is returnable by the way. Both tops and bottoms!!!

The 2013 Lululemon Swim Line

by Cristina March 12, 2013
written by Cristina

I just got a product alert email with all the new swim line but sadly all of the actual suits are dead links so I can’t get rear view pictures for you just yet, or links to them on the website. Lame-o! Oh well, I’m sure we will see them all tonight. Ok, first impression for me is that I’m kind of liking some of these. I like the black and navy together, and I love the Real Green.  They probably do not meet the modesty requirements my 32 year old body would prefer, but I do like the Coastal Om Triangle Top and the Board Balance Sport Top, and the Sandy Savasana Bottoms. Are we missing swim shorts this year? The Coastal Om Onesie may be cute too. If these are final sale, as much as I may like them online I wont be ordering them online. I just can’t chance a bad fit so I’ll be checking these out in store.

The Christine Day Brand

by Cristina March 12, 2013
written by Cristina

Christina Day had two major interviews over the past few days. Here, Christine Day on Katie Couric  this morning touched on the Glass Ceiling that women face in the corporate environment.  Here, an article in the Globe and Mail on March 8,  Christine Day: In Sweaty Pursuit of Innovation. Lululemon is known by ‘THE MEDIA‘ as very media unfriendly as recently as late last year. I’ve spoken to a major published author who writes a column for the Globe and Mail who could not get an interview at all with Christine Day by his deadline.  They have never before been interested in granting interviews to major publications, but all of a sudden we are seeing a lot of Christine Day promoting herself as a woman CEO. I have two daughters. I am a feminist. I get it. It’s an accomplishment to be one of 20 female CEO’s in the world. A very big and proud accomplishment. So what are you selling us the viewers and consumers? Is this part of the brand strategy for Lululemon now? Or is this Christine Day Brand strategizing? I can’t help but remember the Barbie campaign last summer. It feels like they are having a reverse identity crisis. Like they haven’t quite figured out who their target consumer is yet, or how o play to her emotions with their campaigns, so they’ve gone a complete 180* from the Barbie campaign. Girl Power now.

I found the Globe and Mail article very well written, and very informative as to the corporate culture changes that have happened to the company, and the creativity that has been lost since Chip Wilson has stepped down. I wish they had been able to keep at least some of that magic and the quality as they’ve made expansion their primary focus.

Dune Petite Dot CRB

by Cristina March 12, 2013
written by Cristina

Well this is really very annoying because I would have loved a solid luon Dune CRB (or even a heathered Dune), but instead they put out a polyester printed version which is white on the inside, sheer, icky feeling and too warm to work out in.

Thanks to ‘Ms. A’ for this photo

Petite Dot Fresh Teal, Pop Orange and Faded Zap Street To Studio Jacket, Practice Freely Tanks

by Cristina March 11, 2013
written by Cristina

I’m guessing tonights upload will be disappointing for me since I’m pretty much only after Very Green items now. Initially I really wanted the Faded Zap CRB but I’ve been told by a few people that spotted them today that it’s polyestery and has dots all over it as does the Fresh Teal one. I’m thinking the new swim line will be uploaded tonight as well and they probably wont want to upload too many competing items. They get one shot to make an impression with the swim line as it’s probably going to be final sale, and there will be no reviews up or reported impressions of the line. I wont be ordering any of the swim line but if I try it on in store and it blows me away, you just never know.

Practice Freely Tank in Petite Dot Fresh Teal

Checked this one out today and the inner bra is pretty polyestery.

Lululemon Factory Outlet Store Closing!!

by Cristina March 11, 2013
written by Cristina

I was just informed that the Vancouver Lululemon Factory Outlet  effective April 21st. I can’t say I’m terribly surprised or upset as I’ve always found the outlet to be mismanaged in terms of driving sales. In the past two years I’ve made more stops at the Burlington outlet in the US than I have to the Vancouver area outlet which is a heck of a lot closer to me (around a 2 hour drive closer!). Yet I still have never purchased anything at the Burlington outlet either. Reasons that have deterred me from shopping at the Vancouver outlet has been that I find better sales at regular stores, I mostly see large runs of damaged items or bad runs of garments marked down by a tiny amount. Seems like the last stop before the lulu graveyard most of the time. Items that are sewn incorrectly, are too sheer to go to market, have dye issues, etc. The store is tiny, has no bathrooms nearby, it’s in an industrial area going thru a lot of construction so very congested traffic and frankly, the prices have to be killer for me to forego the two week return policy.

What do you locals think about the only Vancouver area outlet closing down?

Not sure what this tank is, looks similar to one out last year but with thicker straps. The pants I believe are the Presence Pants.

I wasn’t planning on getting a Fresh Teal Cool Racerback but I really love that it has Real Green contrast stitching on the neckline.

Spotted In Store: Pop Orange Flow And Go Tank and Fresh Teal Wunder Under Crops

by Cristina March 9, 2013
written by Cristina

Thanks to ‘Ms. A’ for sharing her find from a Strategic Partner store. The Flow And Go Tank is extremely popular and really lovely on. I got one last year and it looked so pretty on but ended up returning it as I could not wear it for any of my workouts due to very little support. It looks like this years version has different straps on it, hopefully an improvement.

Lululemon 2013 Swim Line: Coastal Om Triangle Top, Sandy Savasana Top, Board Balance Sport Top, Coastal Om Bikini Bottom, Sandy Savasana Bottom

by Cristina March 9, 2013
written by Cristina

The Lululemon blog just posted a glimpse at their new 2013 lululemon swim line complete with confirmation that this years tops will include cup pockets, and a more modestly cut bottom (Sandy Savasana) and two fuller cup optioned bra tops. I’m excited to check these out. So far I’m liking #2, and #5, but I’m hoping it comes in a version that is mostly green.
