Fit Review: Scuba Hoodie III next to Scuba Hoodie II

by Cristina August 10, 2015
written by Cristina

I thought a side by side shot of the new Scuba Hoodie III to the Scuba Hoodie II would be helpful. Having tried it on in store I’m not really sure why the Scuba Hoodie III is a Scuba at all. It just seems more like the usual seasonal none scuba offering. It’s pretty much an On The Daily Hoodie but with thicker fuzzier cotton fleece. Lululemon puts out more stylish versions of cotton fleece jackets (like the En Route Jacket) over the winter months so I’m not sure how this jacket really fits in. It is soft and comfortable and definitely stretchier and more relaxed than a scuba but the Scuba Hoodie II is more flattering and substantial in design. I think the Scuba Hoodie II is warmer as well, although the III is snuggly.

The Scuba III is more generously sized and it felt looser than the Scuba II which I probably would have sized up in. Both the Scuba II and the Scuba III in these pictures are size 10. The Scuba III also appears to be longer and fit hits lower on the hip than the Scuba II.

Fit Review: Definitely Raining Jacket

by Cristina August 10, 2015
written by Cristina

I got to pop in to my store today and try on the new Definitely Raining Jacket (and the Scuba Hoodie III coming up in another post) and I am torn on wether I’m going to get one. The size 10, my TTS is perfect fit from the waist up but too snug across the hips. This is a problem they have each year on the Right As Rain Jacket. They seem to have gone away from the older rain jacket a-line fit and gone with a more narrow and straight fit. This years jacket is updated in that it is now water proof instead of water resistant. I assumed they would have made the design slightly more a-line but unfortunately it’s the same problematic fit for the curvy that the Right As Rain Jacket was. One thing I really liked on this jacket though is the material is softer and less stiff. With water proof vs water resistant you have to be aware that the jacket will also be much warmer and trap body heat.

I liked this Gator Green color and may end up getting it if I don’t love the Espresso as much in person. I don’t love the busy butterfly liner with color blocked alarming at the bottom. You really don’t see all that when the jacket is on though, only in the hood do you see a peak of the butterfly print.

If you are between sizes, go with your upper size. Especially if you want to layer a bulky sweater or hoodie underneath. If you are narrow hipped you are probably fine to go with your TTS.

Size up, size 12

The size 12 feels really big in the chest and arms, and the arms are quite long but I think if I go ahead and order this tomorrow in the Espresso color I will order the 12. I hate that my TTS is so snug across the hips.

Sizing up also means I have much more layering room. As you can see it’s pretty loose fitting in upper back and arms.

I think the size up looks nicer in profile though and it has a nicer shape.

Ugh! So snug across the hips. It just looks bad.

Fine in the back though across the bum.

Looks a little too narrow in profile.

Fit Review: What The Sport Short *Long, In Flux Jacket vs. Dance Studio Jacket

by Cristina August 8, 2015
written by Cristina

Guys, I’m so impressed. I ordered these What The Sport Short *Long in my size from the Robson Store on Thursday afternoon after trying to find them at Coquitlam and Metrotown,  and they were on my doorstep on Friday morning. Just in time for me to try them out for a 3 mile run on my taper week before Seawheeze. I tried them on (here) in my size down in store because that was all they had but I am glad I was able to find them in my TTS 10. They fit snug and compressive without feeling tight, and the waist is nice and smooth. For the first mile the waist was a little slidy but I find that is the same with most of my size 10 run crops. They just need a bit of sweat to get them to stay up. You can also tie the waistband tighter but I find they stay up just fine once I get that first initial mile and I didn’t bother using the waist tie feature. The holster pockets on the sides are great, they fit my iphone 6 plus (although I prefer to keep that in my Run Stuff Your Bra) or a full packet of Honey Stinger Chews and they have a strip of reflectivity above both holster pockets. The inside of the hem does not have an elastic grip but they do not ride up at all on me. Overall these were definitely a great purchase and I’m really glad I chased them down because I’ll be wearing these next week for Seawheeze. It’s supposed to be a nice cool 21*c (thank goodness!) so crops would be fine too. I love these shorts!

Here is the size 12 In Flux Jacket in Cranberry next to my size 10 Dance Studio Jacket in Bumbleberry. I liked the In Flux but I don’t think I’m keeping it. I mainly purchased it in a size up expecting it to be a looser more casual fit than my DSJ but it’s actually just as snug and it’s a size up. I think what contributes to the snugger fit is that there is much less elasticity while the DSJ has the ribbed luon bottom half all the way around which makes it feel stretchier. The length on both of these is identical which surprised me but keep in mind that one is a size up.  For some reason the design of the In Flux Jacket makes it look a bit shorter but if it is it’s less than an inch. I think the DSJ is more flattering on me but I know a lot of people love the In Flux Jacket more flattering and comfortable to them.

The reverse of the Cranberry In Flux Jacket is heathered Cranberry but I didn’t love the color blocking of the solid red Cranberry. I never wear my Dance Studio Jackets on the reverse side so this is no deal breaker for me, just an observation.

Cyber Stripe Naval Blue High Times Pant And Comments on Lack Of Store Photos

by Cristina August 8, 2015
written by Cristina

You may have noticed a drastic reduction in store photos being posted. Lululemon shared a statement with me on July 6 assuring readers that despite the store facebook page amalgamations and rumours about stores no longer sharing product shots,  product images would still be shared and wont change. As you can see there has been a drastic reduction in information sharing from lululemon so if you are bothered by the lack of store photos do let them know how useful those photos are for you. Unfortunately because we are heading into fall and with the Wanderlust upload and seawheeze coming up there is definitely a big uptick in traffic and sales which means that Lululemon may not realize that the lack of store photos is actually a problem. Voice your thoughts on HeyLululemon, email the digital media team, post comments on this blog. Also, let them know what you think of the new website photos. I know readers have some strong thoughts on the new website photos and how none informative they are so be sure to voice your opinions on that. Between lack of store photos and bad website photos with 3/4 profile shots on pants we are getting very little information about the items we may be interested in. I’m happy to do fit reports on as many items as possible but readers benefit from a huge variety of model shots on different body types, lighting and context.
