Birkenstock Mayari | New Sandals For Spring

March 28, 2019

Check out my new adorable Birkenstock Mayari Sandals! I’ve had a love hate relationship with my Birkenstock Sandals for years. Sometimes they don’t feel the most stylish but man are they the most comfortable sandals. They just feel so good on my feet. I have a pair of the Gizeh and the Madrids which I’ve had for about 5 years now.

I didn’t take them with me traveling last year and I really regretted it when the sore feet started kicking in. We are going to Disneyland next month and I’ll mostly be wearing sneakers but I wanted a pair of comfortable sandles to take with me as well. I searched and searched for more fashion focused shoes, and although I found these pretty sandals that are comfortable, nothing was all day on your feet comfortable like Birkenstocks are. You need proper arch support and shock absorption for that.

I looked into other comfort sandal brands such as Vionic but I didn’t find them to be more stylish than Birckenstocks, and I didn’t like that the footbed wasn’t leather. I know people swear by that brand though. these Dansko sandals where very cute but I just didn’t feel swayed.

My husband HATES birkenstocks so I did try and find something else, but in the end I fell in love with these new for Spring Lilac ones. He agreed that these are much cuter than my other Birkenstocks and he really warmed up to them.

Birkenstock has some really great styles this spring with their big buckle version, and these nubuck ones. I specifically loved these Nubuck ones because they are all leather and the prettiest soft matte colors.

I settled on this Lilac pair but I think I may also get the white pair. Originally, I thought I’d go with the white since it will go with everything, but the purple looked great on with jeans. If you are shopping for Birkenstocks this spring I would definitely look at the nubuck leather ones.

Very nice! Do Birkenstocks ever go on sale or get discounted anywhere?

I love Papillio sandals. Papillio is a sub-collection under the Birkenstock name and have the same cork footbeds. But… I think the sandals are way cuter while still being a comfort sandal.
The ones I like best are more of a wedge style. They have names like Luna, Della, Ashley, Dorothy, Ellen, Emmy, etc.
There are lots of options and different wedge heights as well. I live in them during the summer.

Those are very cute! I’ve been wearing the standard arizonas for years (it was actually kind of annoying when they became all trendy a couple years ago… before that I was so “original” LOL). It’s funny, this year I am doing the opposite of you – like, trying to actually buy NON birkenstocks NON “comfort” sandals… I rarely wear sandals all day anyways and when I do have a big outing day with my kid, I wear sneakers anyways, so I felt like it was time to branch out and stop being so ‘granola norcal mom.’ The older I get, the more I feel like I need to compensate by being stylish…. 20 year olds look so awesome in their jammy shorts and old arizona sandals and old sweatshirts…. sigh…. Anyways, I really like this purple color you found!

Have you had sandals that hold down your big toe before? It doesn’t bother most people, but since your toes are all supposed to flex up on each walking step, some people get soreness/tendonitis if the big toe is actually held down by the shoe (in the tendon along the top of your big toe). I don’t think it’s super common, but just something to be aware of if you haven’t tried this style before (I have this problem and so does a friend of mine).

I was also wondering about the toe strap placement. I think it would drive me crazy until I get used to it.

I’ve had Mayari’s for a long time and the toe strap is a non-issue. I really don’t even feel it and it doesn’t hold down the toe at all. In fact, it’s adjustable so you can loosen it just at the toe if its an issue.

I’ve never been a big Birkenstock fan but these lilac ones look good on you Cristina.
I like the Vionic style a little better but yeah, non leather sole is a little annoying.

I went on a week long trip to London about 8 years ago, and it ended up being so hot I had to wear my flip flops the whole time. I got severe tendinitis in my big toe, and these Mayari sandals saved my butt when I got back! The strap that holds down the big toe helped my tendinitis heal since it didn’t lift anymore, and I’ve been wearing them ever since. Just last summer one of the straps fell off, so I’ll be looking for another pair.

Good to know. Heading to Europe during the heat of the summer and was wondering if I should bring my birkenstocks. The answer would be yes!

They are super cute, We’re just at the end of summer and I’ve spent pretty much all of it living in my pink suede Arizonas I brought the new ones that have just come out with the soft foot bed, they have extra heel support which I need when I walk a lot and I had to give up my other Birkenstock’s because the hard heel agrivated my plantar fasciitis but the new soft foot bed ones are amazing and so comfortable.

I am considering getting a new pair this year and I’m concerned about the white soles – what type of material is the bottom what pair of your sandals and how quickly do you think it will get dirty?
