Product Notification

by Cristina June 15, 2010
written by Cristina

This product notification I just received is a little deceiving. In the picture this Angel Blue Swiftly Tank looks like it’s got grey edging around the neck and shoulders but the ones I saw at Coquitlam Lululemon yesterday did not have this. In fact I did buy the tank and the short sleeve in Angel blue and ended up returning the tank because I already have the Potion Purple tank. I wash my running gear every night before I go to bed and hang to dry so I don’t need more than one such a similar tan.

Have any of you seen this Angel Blue with Grey edging Swiftly tank in stores? I may have kept it if it had this detail because I really like the combination of coal and blue.

My Best Running Shoes Ever

by Cristina June 15, 2010
written by Cristina

These are the best pair of running shoes I have ever worn and also the first time I’ve ever had my shoes properly fitted at The Running Room. I used to wear a good pair of Asics for overpronation with good heel support thinking that that’s what I needed. I used to get shin splints really bad and ITB pain so I got some prescription orthotics from my chiropractor and that did help some but that’s a pretty expensive solution at $350 per pair. Luckily my chiropractor was also my boss and so I got mine for free.

So when I went into the Running Room and had my foot and gait assessed this past March I was very surprised to learn that I have a neutral foot. I tried on many a decent pair of shoes but when I tried on the New Balance 1064 I was very happy. the shoe is a little bit wider than what I’ve used before but my ankle and heel felt pretty locked in there without any movement. I also love the laces which I have never seen before. there a sausage link shaped lace so you don’t have to knot it to prevent your laces from becoming undone. I have a funny way of doing up my shoes for a run anyways so it’s never really an issue. I like to tuck in the excess laces under itself so I don’t get floppy laces thwaking my ankles.

This post isn’t so much about these shoes in particular because I don’t think you should pick shoes that work for someone else or that look pretty. This post is a recommendation to have your foot and gait assessed before you choose your running shoe. I had zero clue that I would have been a neutral foot and that wearing overly supportive shoes I was aggravating a shin splint and ITB issue. I still wear my orthotics of course because I like having the arch support, especially after two pregnancies. If you do wear orthotics make sure to take them in to were ever you get fitted for runners as well as your old running shoes so that they can look at the wear on the treads.

I Love the Swiftly Short Sleeves.

by Cristina June 14, 2010

These fit true to size but I like to size up on these to have a loose fit. I don’t like having a crew neck too high up on me so that’s probably why I feel the need to have this fit larger and make it behave more like a scoop neck. I love the muted color of the Potion Purple but for some reason the Angel Blue one is not at all muted. Both are very pretty and I ended up with the Angel Blue SS. I wonder If I have too much of that color…but blue is a staple, right?

The Knotty Tank

by Cristina June 14, 2010
written by Cristina

You can tie the loose ends at the back for a different look apparently but I would like to see a picture of that first before I decide if I like that. I think it has some potential that way too. The front view of this just looks like the modern racer so there’s no point in showing a picture of the front.

Out today but I haven’t seen it yet

by Cristina June 14, 2010

I wish I would have seen these Savage Green Lulu Crops because I love my Lulu Crops and I have nothing in Savage green yet mostly because nothing looked right for me in that color around my face. I think the tops made my eyes look as tired as I feel because the green was really pulling out the dark blue bags. As you might have noticed I at times will respond to comments at times like 3am or 4am when I’m up nursing.

Tons of New Goodies at Coquitlam Lululemon

by Cristina June 14, 2010
written by Cristina

First off, they had everything I wanted except for the Savasana Wrap in Branch which I really didn’t expect them to have.

Here is a list of what I found:

*Run Swiftly Short Sleeves and Tanks in Potion Purple and Angel Blue and Savage Green. Yippee!
*Modern Racerback tank and TANK DRESS in Potion Purple. Very cute tank dress for the pool or beach.
*Pima 5 Year T-Shirt in Potion Purple (another store has one in coal)
*The Knotty Tank in Black, Coal and Angel Blue (see picture bellow of very interesting back). Second picture down.
*Vita Tank Org. In Potion, Heathered White and Lime (cute color combo) and Angel Blue. I’ve never tried this on because the material is too thick for my comfort but it sure looks flattering with the two lines down the front.

Old Savasana Wrap

This is an old version of the Savasana wrap and I so wish they had brought it back in this color. I think I would have jumped on it in this color (Branch) summer or not.

Lab outfits

by Cristina June 14, 2010
written by Cristina

Cheesily put together outfits but it’s cute that way.  You should never take yourself too seriously!

They called this album “College Prep” and it features the Harem Pant, California Roll Crop and Nirvana Skirt.  I do like how the girl on the right is wearing her Nirvana skirt. I tried that one on in Grey/Black and it was very comfortable but unfortunately the pockets added too much bulk on my hips.

Run: With it Jacket in Angel Blue. A second look.

by Cristina June 13, 2010
written by Cristina

I love the way this jacket looks. I hadn’t realized that the detailing around the shoulder was different from the black and white version. This one just seems more feminine than the black one and If I didn’t have so much Angel Blue already I would consider it. But I really don’t have a need for a running vest other than the usefulness of having the pockets for my cell phone and for that I’ve been using the running bonnet.

As an aside:

Women runners, please, please carry your cell and id when you run and don’t use music. Always let someone know where your going and what time to expect you back. When I run I always have someone waiting for me at exactly 35 minutes and if I’m not back at that time they have a map of all of my running routes. I also like to dress brightly so I’m seen from a distance (too bad Lululemon hasn’t released those reflective peaces yet) It seems paranoid but another woman was found in Pacific Spirit Park last night and it’s just too dangerous to run without these precautions.

Why So Many New Remix Sweatshirts?

by Cristina June 13, 2010
written by Cristina

It was 25 degrees yesterday and nobody was wearing a sweatshirt thin or thick. Are people buying these for winter?
