Modern Racer Tank, Do It All II Shorts, In Stride Jacket

This is the first real life image I’ve seen of the Pink Mist Modern Racer Tank and I’m salivating over it. It’s not available in Canada yet but hopefully very soon.

It’s a Cinch Crops

These are really cute rolled down but it’s good to see it all the way up as well. These may be perfect for maternity wear during the summer months.

Totally Totetastic Tote

I was tempted by this Tote last year for a beach vacation and ended up going with a different bag. We  spend a lot of time during the summer at the wading pool so I may be tempted to buy this later on if it’s available in a second color run. I really like the Tango Red one.

Light Grey Pique In Stride, New Version.

by Cristina May 3, 2011
written by Cristina

Back in January I was infatuated with photos of the Light Grey Pique In Stride Jacket that was out in stores then. I was a bit disappointed though when I tried it on because of the stark white contrast detailing on it made it a bit too conspicuous for my taste. I loved the look of white against light grey but didn’t like it on me. Recently I’ve noticed new product alerts for a Light Grey Pique In Stride Jacket and I assumed it was the same one but low and behold it’s actually the one in the picture on the right. Subtle logo and dark grey zipper details. I think I want to try this one on even though I’m not in the market for a new luon jacket (or any other jacket for that matter).

Do It All Shorts II: The Morning After, Revised Fit Report

by Cristina May 3, 2011
written by Cristina

This morning I tried on my Do It All Shorts II that I purchased yesterday and decided that there was something about the fit that just wasn’t working for me. The length of the shorts are quite perfect which is what had me excited about them in the first place. I have athletic thighs and curvy hips and butt so the fact that these shorts have zero flair at the leg opening and are narrow fit just doesn’t work. Also, the rise is slightly too short on me so I feel I need to pull them down lower to have them fit right. The Dance Studio Pants and Crops work well for me in an 8 or a 10 but thats because the balance of the narrow leg at the thigh works well with the flared bottom and the rise is slightly higher. I’m really sad and disappointed that these aren’t working for me but I’ve realized it’s not a matter of sizing it right, it’s a matter of fit. I hate feeling bad about how athletic my thighs look in shorts right after completing a half marathon (I should feel happy about them, no?) but in the end, I have a pair of cute white denim Banana Republic shorts from last year that are similar in style (cuffed hem, relaxed fit and casual) so I think I feel ok about returning these ones. These are worth a try on though because if the fit is right on your figure these have the potential to look really cute on.

This is a fit report from someone on the This Just In Facebook Group that had the same fit issue that I had:

So I just got back from my store and I tried on the Do It All Shorts. I am not a fan! I love my DSCs and come fall I am most likely going to bite to bite the bullet and get DCPs, but the shorts are just not cut right for women with athletic thighs or who are self conscious about their thighs and I am both. It’s like they took the same pattern for the pants and crops and just shortened it- and where the tightness works with both the pants and crops it is not flattering in the shorts. Just thought y’all would want to know my thoughts (take it for what is worth) 🙂

Store Report and Product Alerts

by Cristina May 3, 2011
written by Cristina

I went into my local store today to grab a pair of the Do It All Shorts which was sort of a dumb idea since it was so hard getting the shorts on and off because my legs are so sore from yesterday. But I am glad I did grab a pair in the coal because I sadly missed out on these last year and could not find for the life of me a pair of shorts by lulu or any other brand that had the same look to them. I tried on the Blurred Grey which are a lighter, creamier looking grey then Coal is. I really liked the Blurred Grey on the hanger but once it was on it was a little too light for my pale legs so I opted with the darker coal ones. I passed on black because having such white legs I stay away from black shorts as a rule, and the Wren I love but I have the crops in Wren and wanted something different in the shorts and that would match everything. I chose the size 10 in these even though my Dance Studio Crops/Pants are size 8’s. The fit is pretty much the same but the shorts have strait legs as apposed to a slight flare so the fitted look wasn’t working well for my muscular thighs. I’m sort of a size 9 anyways in Dance Studio Crops and Pants so the 10’s aren’t baggy on me, they just have a more relaxed look then the 8’s did.

I also saw the long sleeve swiftly’s in Pink Mist and the Mind over Matter Tanks  in Tango Red and Grapeseed. I liked the red Mind Over Matter but I’ve wishlisted it for another day since I don’t need another run tank right now. New Power Dance Tanks were in as well in Pink Mist and Surge, In Stride Jacket in Pink Mist and the Blurred Grey Inspire Crops. The Inspire Crops are really pretty but if you shy away from Coal luxtreme bottoms then you likely will take a pass on these ones as well. The color, like I said above, is quite a bit lighter then Coal and it’s sort of a pastel grey. I imagine it will show every imperfection and I’m just not inclined to be brave enough to try them on. I don’t notice my Coal luxtreme bottoms showing much sweat so that wouldn’t be an issue for me but I haven’t really paid attention to that since I work out alone. Very pretty color combinations though.

May! New Colors and Products

by Cristina May 2, 2011

Do It All Shorts

Black, Wren, Coal and Light Grey (Blurred Grey?) $58 and an inseam of 8.5″ (last years was 5″)

I’m so happy these are back. I totally missed out on last years version and spent weeks searching high and low for them after they had sold out. I’m also really happy these are longer then last years with the option of shortening them by rolling up the cuffs.

Power Dance Strap Tank, Surge Blue
Colours: Surge (shown), Pink Mist Space Dye/Pink Mist, and Black

This is a luxtreme bust/sheer luon tank top that has had many people anxiously awaiting its return. Great easy to wear tank top for summer.

Run Inspire Crops

Colours: Blurred Grey/Toothpaste Seabed/Toothpaste (shown), and Black/Pink Mist/Heathered Black

I love fit of these crops and highly recommend them. the color/print combination is so pretty in this one (seaspray seabed print/coal?) but I’m not sure I could pull off a light grey crop with pastel contrasting on it. I’ll definitely try them on though and give them a shot.

In Stride Jacket, Pink Mist

Pink Mist is such a pretty and soft ballerina pink. I haven’t tried anything on in this color but I love it and hope it doesn’t wash me out. I really like that this is a solid In Stride with no contrasting colors on it.

Scoop Neck Tank, Seaspray

I really like seaspray a lot. Not sure I’ll get anything in it though since I have way, way too much blue in my closet. Both Lulu and non lulu. I think I need a blue intervention.

Half Marathon Race Day: “Toenails Are For Sissies”

by Cristina May 2, 2011
written by Cristina

Well I should start off by saying that although I didn’t lose a toenail today at my BMO Vancouver Half Marathon, I did gain what looks like an extra toe but actually it’s just a massive blister on my pinky toe. Other then that my race was pretty darn smooth and enjoyable save for the last mile where I gunned it despite badly, badly wanting to stop and walk it. The weather was gorgeous today and the scenery was magnificent. I definitely want to do this again next year. I’ll do the Half Marathon again but not so sure about the full one for next year. I looked at the BMO Vancouver Marathon Course today and those runners are badass. That distance is just sick. But I wont say never because this time last year I thought a 10km race was ambitious for me and here I am with Half Marathon Medal hanging around my neck.

My time was under 3 hours and I’m pretty happy with that considering my goal was just to finish it and I didn’t really have a specific time goal. I ran the entire Prospect Point hill without stopping and did some 10/1 intervals but also had to stop at one point to line up for a pit stop which put me a bit behind. When I reached for my GU Chomps at the last half of the race for that extra push of energy I discovered they were missing from my pouch from when I last opened it up to switch my playlist so I had to make due without it for those last painful 3 miles. I always say the first 3 miles of my runs are the hardest but in this case I must say it was most definitely that last mile. That last mile I was pushing myself to keep a running pace despite having leg cramps, fatigue and the feeling of lactic acid burn creeping into my outer thighs and the only thing that kept me going was the desire to cross the finish line running, and also the spectators that were cheering so enthusiastically letting me know I was almost home and that the finish was just ahead. I was slightly dubious of anyones estimations of ‘Your almost there‘ though because at the beginning of the race at around Princess Avenue (mile 2) there was a sign held up that said “You’re almost there (well..sort of)” bahaha, thanks!!! And there were a few more like that throughout the race.

When I rounded the corner at Spanish Banks around mile 10, my phone rang. It was my dad asking me

“Are you finished yet? where are you??”. Leave it to good ol’ dad. When I did my 10 mile long run a few weeks ago my dad reminded me that the race was still 30% more then what I just did. Ha!! I was sure proud to show him my new medal today. I think he was pretty proud of me too.  I crossed the finish line and saw my husband and kids cheering for me as well as my mother  in law, father in law and sister in law and dad. It was so awesome to see family after such a long run and I was so glad they came out to cheer me on and catch some pictures for me (although I look like death in every one of them).  It was pretty special for me to have my daughters watch me run today after having to put up with all of my training runs.

Someone posted this great video on Youtube a few minutes ago. So glad they posted this.

Lined up at the Corral at 6:30am counting all the lulu in the crowd and freezing my hands and ass off. I wore a cheap and pilly cotton long sleeve from the gap and threw it off and into a garbage bin after the first mile.

It started to warm up right before the start.

Two lulu outfits in this picture. I felt bad taking sneaky pictures on my iphone but this one I had to catch because she was wearing the Mind Over Matter Pullover. I wonder what she did with it when it warmed up. I was keeping a lookout throughout my run for abandoned Lululemon Pullovers on the side of the road.

I tried to stick close to this gentleman in the scrubs in case I should need his help later but the bugger was too fast and he lost me pretty quickly.

20 Kilometre mark for the marathoners intercepted the half marathon around 6-7 miles. This sign confused me momentarily. Did I lose my GU around here? Did I take a wrong turn? no. I wont lie, at this point I wondered how easy it would be to just deek thru the park instead of going all the way around.  Who would notice? um…all the other runners would notice dummy.

Hubs remembered to bring my Flip-Flops which I was in dire need of and my Rubber Ducky Scuba Hoodie. I got my large Starbucks drink while I waited outside and took a breather from walking to the car. It was such cruel and unusual punishment to have to walk to the car. I was so grateful to have an entire ice cold Brita pitcher to myself in the fridge waiting for me when I got home.

I had to crop my face out of this photo because I looked horrible and had salt dust all over my face which I noticed after taking the picture. Grossness! Also, my lips are the most chapped they have ever been. Next time, remember chapstick. I wore my Surge Blue Cool Racerback Tank which was good because the red ribbon looks great with it. But like my husband said (after I tried to explain to him last night why it mattered what I was wearing) it was so hard to find me in the crowd because so many women were wearing blue tops and all the BMO Vancouver Marathon Volunteers were wearing blue. And he’s shade blind so he really can’t tell the difference between greens purples and blues when there all jumbled together.

Coquitlam Lulu Educators

These are the Coquitlam Lulu Educators cheering on one of their own that was running the Full Marathon today. Carolyn has been kind enough to offer me great tips and encouragement throughout my training on my stop ins at lulu since I haven’t been able to join their running group. I hope she had a great run today!

Mariah on the far right completed her Half Marathon today and went over to support the Marathoners.

Color Comparison **Updated** – Surge Blue, Snorkel Blue and Oasis

by Cristina April 29, 2011
written by Cristina

Thanks to reader Lululover for sending in this much better picture comparing Oasis, Surge and Teal Zeal. I’m feeling like I should have picked up a CRB in Teal Zeal or Oasis as those colors look really great layered together with Surge and all three colors will look very summery worn with White Dance Studio Pants/Crops.

Left: Surge Blue  Right: Snorkel Blue

Oasis

My new Surge Blue Cool Racerback Tank just arrived (love! keeping!) but sadly I don’t have a picture of Teal Zeal and Oasis to add to the mix here for comparison. I would say that Snorkel is much bluer then Surge. If you were to compare Teal Zeal with Surge I would say Teal is much further on the green side of the spectrum and the closest color to it would be Oasis. I really like the Oceany Surge blue color though and although Oasis is similar, I wasn’t in love with Oasis mostly because of the palette it came in for the fall (Oasis, Alarm, Citron, River Rock). Those colors together for a fall palette really turned me off.

No Limit Tank For Ivivva

by Cristina April 28, 2011
written by Cristina

This children’s version of the No Limit Tank for Ivivva (little sister to Lululemon)is too adorable with the pale pink bodice and the bubble gum pink bra. These are the colors I would love to see in the Lululemon line, or even the a solid darker pink version. Much funner then the boring combination of Black or Coal Bodices with colored bras.
