OMFG A Blurred Blossom Scoop Neck Tank!

This gorgeous gorgeous tank is now in a US store. This is amazing. I’m in total lust with it and am in neeeeed of a Cool Racerback Tank in this. Along with about 3 other items. This print is making me feel hoardy. I said hoardy, get your mind out of the gutter. I can see it in the pictures though, that 97% polyester sheen. Sad about that but I do love the print.

Sneak Peek From Down Unda: Flash Daily Tank, Real Life Photos

by Cristina March 23, 2012
written by Cristina

I’m so excited about the upcoming Daily Tank thats coming soon. I’ve always wanted a CRB tank without the racerback. I’m thinking she’s paired this tank with the Daily Tank which is supposed to be hidden by the tank, or possibly she’s wearing the Adjust Me Bra. Either way, It’s a cute amount of contrast peeking out. I’m thinking though that the Daily Bra will be more concealed under this tank then this picture is showing so it must be the Adjust Me Bra.

Outfit Ideas For Blurred Blossom White/Flash Pacesetter Skirt

by Cristina March 23, 2012
written by Cristina

Thanks to the ladies of Lulu TJI group for sharing these pictures of the new Blurred Blossoms White/Flash Pacesetter Skirt and the different outfit combinations. None of the stores have posted pictures of this skirt yet and I’ve been anxiously awaiting to see how this skirt looked on. Damn you lulu for not making this skirt in this print in a tall version for me. I had a major dilema when it was uploaded in that I wanted it so badly but know because of the length I could never wear it. I think the print is totally adorable and the faint check print background as well as the clashy/contrasty flash waist really makes this a fun youthful print. It’s just adorable. This is exactly the kind of print I have been waiting for.

Costco CRB in ‘Power Purple’, Cross My Heart Bra in Flash. See lulu? Other retailers are making perfect knock offs in popular colors. We are buying them.

‘Lululemon’s Secret Sauce’ The Wall Street Journal

by Cristina March 22, 2012
written by Cristina

Did you catch this article Lululemon’s Secret Sauce on The Wall Street Journal today? I thought it was a really interesting read but a little bit  A LOT misleading to investors. What struck me the most out of the article were Christine Day’s comments and how out of touch she is with the actual inventory and customer feedback. Paris Pink according to her sold out in one week when it was first released in December. Bravo Lululemon! But she failed to mention it was mostly returned back to the stores due to quality control issues and then eventually pulled off of store shelves. Plenty of Paris Pink has been on markdown as well. Plenty of returns and plenty of payment for damage to personal property due to ridiculously cheap dyes. I just received my Dazzling Dance Strap Tanks yesterday and sadly, due to color bleeding all over itself in the factory or at the warehouse it will be going back to the store. This has been an ongoing issue with them since NOVEMBER! The 4th Quarter earnings call is this afternoon and I’m really looking forward to hearing the truth amidst all the fluff talk that happens during these phone calls.

My favorite part of the article:

While a large part of Lulu’s strategy is getting the product right, an equally important part is keeping it scarce (maybe they should focus more on getting it right for now) The goal is to sell gear at full price and to condition customers to buy when they see an item rather than wait. “Our guest knows that there’s a limited supply, and it creates these fanatical shoppers,” says Ms. Day.

New colors and seasonal items get three, six or 12-week life cycles so stores feel fresher. Sheree Waterson, Lulu’s chief product officer, says a hot-pink color named “Paris Pink” that launched in December was supposed to have a two-month life cycle but sold out its first week. (?)

The strategy has sparked some concern on Wall Street. Conference calls with analysts often center on Lulu’s inability to stock enough items.

In the most recent quarter, the company made logistical changes so it loses fewer sales from products being out of stock. For instance, it has focused on getting core products that don’t change from season to season, such as black yoga pants, into its stores, while keeping limited-time items scarce.

Lulu also sells 95% of its gear at full price, says Chief Financial Officer John Currie. Its pants range from $78 to $128, while lower-priced competitors like VF Corp.’sVFC -0.04% Lucy brand and Gap Inc.’s GPS +0.31% Athleta each have yoga pants on sale on their websites in the $25 to $50 range.

The company never puts its core items on sale (except now it does because of all those returns of defective items. Tons and tons of remaining paris pink items were on markdown and at the warehouse sale and outlets) , and it has a very strict return policy: no products accepted after 14 days, and all must be unwashed and unworn, with original tags.

“We aren’t Nordstrom,” (damn straight. They’ve been around 100 years!) Ms. Day says. “We aren’t your personal shopper.”

Sneak Peek From Down Unda: New! Daily Tank

by Cristina March 21, 2012
written by Cristina

This new Luon Light tank just popped up in one of my Australian product alerts and I’m really liking it a lot. Apparently there is also a Daily Bra coming that will fit under this tank perfectly. I often wish the CRB came in a non racerback version and this is exactly what I had in mind. Loving such an open back. I just hope the torso fits as nicely as the CRB and isn’t too form fitting.

Photos Of The Latest: No Rain No Gain Jacket, Transition Wrap, Deep Breath Bra, Heathered Ultraviolet CRB

No Rain No Gain Jacket

initial reviews from readers that have both the original NRNG Jacket say that the older version is shorter, feels more substantial and is nicer than the new version, however this new version is water proof and has taped seams and longer length which is why the price is higher. Thanks for the emails to my two readers that wrote in letting me know.

Run: In The Rain Jacket in Dazzling.

I quite love it in this color..but I cannot justify a run jacket at this point.

Transition Wrap in Dune with Flash Wunder Unders

You can see in a few of these pictures how sheer this version is. I thought it felt thinner than the Deep Indigo one and now that I see how sheer it is I definitely agree with myself. None of the pictures I’ve seen so far has captured what the true color is in person (IMO). It’s quite a bit nicer, almost like a latte color. Not taupe, LATTE!

See? Sheer even with the White CRB. Mind you she’s standing in direct light but thats still pretty sheer. It’s still ‘reversible’ according to the tag but the difference in sides is imperceptible.

More Flash WU’s. This is my favorite picture of them.

Deep Breath Bra

More Transition Wrap photos. I’d love to see stores pair this with other colors. They all seam to be pairing it with grey but I think it looks much nicer with brights under it.

A better idea of how the Dune color looks paired with brights. Here it is in the Every Yogi Tank paired with the Flash WU’s. Much more exciting.

I’m a bit disappointed in the Heathered Ultraviolet CRB. It’s very heathered and the color is very muted down. It’s too bad we didn’t get a solid version because the color is so much prettier in solid. Sadly their are few items that have this color in solid.

The latest Scuba which I believe is Wee Are From Space print.

A Surprising Buy Today: Transition Wrap

by Cristina March 20, 2012
written by Cristina

I stopped in at the store today to see if I could get a look at the new Blurred Blossom print but unfortunately it wasn’t in. I did end up falling in love with the Transition Wrap in Dune which is quite surprising since I don’t usually do taupey colors because they wash me out. I had originally gotten this wrap in Deep Indigo which is a color I love, but something about it in the wrap just didn’t cut it for me. I think the combination of the design and such a dark color made the wrap look heavy and bulky on me. Anyways, I’ve been looking for a wrap for the past several weeks and haven’t found anything I liked, but this one called my name. I think on it’s own this color does wash me out quite a bit but layered over a bright color like Navy, Dazzle or Aquamarine it looks quite nice and it subdues the brights a bit. I also think this colorway is thinner then the last run which I prefer because as the weather warms up I know that the Navy Transition Wrap would have been way too warm for me. The Every Yogi Tank in the same color was also quite striking in person. It almost looks like a gold rather than taupe. Great neutrals for layering!

Transformation Wrap

Heathered Dune

Why did they pair the wrap in this picture with such a blah color? Layering it over a similar toned grey just makes it look sad.

Again, paired with grey it doesn’t do this wrap justice.

I’m a bit surprised this years version of the No Rain No Gain Jacket is priced at $198. I’m sure the 2008-2009 version was priced much lower than that ($148 in fact). I’d love to see a comparison of the old version and the new version to see if there have been upgrades to it.
