Winter Running Tights, Keep The Fleece Tights

by Cristina

If you are a winter runner, you need the Keep The Fleece Tights! I ordered these on Tuesday and received them Thursday and have been trying to photograph them ever since. The thing that I love most about these is exactly what makes them impossible to photograph. They are a completely matte black!!

Keep The Fleece Tights

I am not currently a winter runner, although I have been in the past so my review is with running requirements in mind, but I’m primarily wanting these as casual wear and for ice skating with my kids. I purchased these strictly as a cozy legging alternative for winter. I just love the edgy moto detailing with the ribbed contrasting and zipper pockets. Often with Lululemon tech fleece tights, I’ve loved them online but when I see them in person they have that cheap looking sheen to them and they don’t work well for casual wear. You also get a lot of sheerness with the more shiny tech fleece Somehow these are perfectly matte and dark black and opaque in a deep squat. These are the perfect combination of style and function.

The Keep The Fleece Tights are brushed soft technical fleece on the inside and they are incredibly cozy, but they have the stretch that regular leggings have, and good running compression. I believe last years tech fleece tights fit really small and lacked stretch. These fit TTS on me and I took my usual size 10 in them.

The one hesitation a lot of you had is that these are quite long at 28″, which is a full-length pant, but they have the zipper cuff detail at the bottom so you couldn’t hem them, and you get a little bit of pooling at the bottom. I don’t mind the look actually as it gives these more of a straight leg pant look. The zipper unzips so you get a wider hemline, but the opening is lined with material so you aren’t introducing cold air.

The warmth of these is great for my climate for full winter running, but Vancouver only gets to about -10*c at the coldest so I cannot speak to how it would do in brutally cold weather. They are also really nicely breathable.

I love these so much and great basic tech fleece tights only come around briefly once per year, and some years they haven’t been great, so I opted to go ahead and buy two pairs in these.

If you guys have tried these on or purchased them, please share your thoughts on them in the comments.

These look great on you! I tried them in store and left them behind as I wanted to think about them. I am 5’6″ and found them a bit long on me too. I found that with the zippered area bunched up at the ankle it made it difficult to get the pant into my booties. The fabric was nice and had a bit of compression which my toasty tech’s lack. I really loved all the details they added to the pants which is not something that I can say of Lulu as of late. After seeing them on you it makes me want to go and pick them up. Other than being a bit long, these were spot on for fit for me. Great review. Thanks 😉

Thanks for the review! They look really nice on you. ?

I purchased these tights in store in the “dark sport red” color. I had to size up in these. My regular size fit, but I had to work WAY too hard to get them on (an experience similar to getting into a pair of “tight stuff” tights). The salesperson agreed that one size up fit better and looked better on. Since there is a drawstring at the waist I figure I can tighten the waist if need be.

They are very cozy and I love the details with zippers, pockets, seaming, and fabrics. The dark sport red is a really pretty, saturated color. I would describe it as a warm red with a rust undertone to it.

I didn’t buy the black ones because I have way too many leggings in black. I’m hoping these will be released in a neutral such as blue or gray.
I’ve already washed them and am wearing them tomorrow for a workout.
I will report back if I have any issues with them.

Update: I wore these for an outdoor workout and they are amazing! They are so soft inside and feel wonderful on.
After a wash and wear they do stretch out a little. If they offer these tights in a different color I will order my usual size instead of sizing up. That being said, these will work because I was able to tighten the waist with the draw cord and they stayed put.

Left these at the store. Not nearly long enough. These were at least 3″ or more above my ankle…not really what I’m wanting when I need to run in weather cold enough to need lined fleece tights, leaving my ankles (and more) completely exposed. I don’t wear this type of stuff for casual wear either but still would be totally useless and look like I’m wearing flood pants. Too bad. I had high hopes for these. Will be holding onto my older brushed speed tights and toasty techs since the length on those actually goes just below my ankle making them actually useful

I love love love these tights. I bought 2 black and 1 red. I run outside in incredibly cold temps 20 below F. These are the BEST winter run tights I have ever bought from Lululemon.

I want these, but I just bought a pair of (used) toasty techs, while shiny, I like the detailing + the rise better.
I might get these too though since your review is glowing!

I bought these too (am a winter runner) and so excited to try them out, as soon as I get over the flu 🙁 Finally Lulu has some good fleece offerings.

They look great on you! I’m really wanting these but I’m concerned about the length. I’m 5”3 so I don’t want them too long afraid they will look weird. Any shorter girls buying these??
