Mind Over Matter Crops. Where Are You When I Need You?

by Cristina April 5, 2011
written by Cristina

I’m quite perturbed that Canada has not gotten these crops in yet. We have 3 big local races coming in the next few weeks, the Vancouver Sun Run, BMO Marathon and Scotia Bank Marathon. I for one like to have my run gear picked out in advance of my race. This is on my immediate wishlist as well as Tango Red Swiftly Tech Tee. The shorter Pace Setter Crops available now are medium rise and sadly they don’t work for me for that reason so I’m holding out for these which are the same high rise as the Dash Crops which I loved for Winter running.

I love the ruffle detailing with the reflective strip. My dash crops have ruffles next to the reflective strip as well and it’s one if the details I love the most. These have the same higher rise as the Dash Crops as well which is what I require in a crop/pant for running.

Sneak Peak Video

by Cristina April 5, 2011
written by Cristina

Lululemon just posted this video giving us a sneak peek at summer 2011 items. One of the items in this video is something we haven’t yet seen in stores which looks like the tank version of the Pranayama Bra. Bust portion looks like luxtreme and the body of the tank looks like sheer luon. There are also cinch ties on the sides just like the Hot Class Tank

OT: My New Hand Held Water Bottle

by Cristina April 5, 2011
written by Cristina

Ultimate Direction FastDraw Extreme

The other day I was in dire need of a new hydration method since I’m almost at the end of my half marathon training (update post coming soon, I promise) and I was finding that miles 7 thru 10 I was getting quite parched. I have a fuel belt but I really hate using it since it rides up, feels uncomfortable and the velcro straps snag my luon and silverescent which is a nuisance. Sorry fuel belt. I’ve done most of my training with pre hydrating and taking nothing with me on any of my runs but I knew that I would need to figure something out for my half marathon since I want to have water with me.  Anyways, my original plan was to pick up a Nathan Sport waist pack since those have clip closures instead of velcro and they come highly recommended but while I was at the Runners Den the salesgirl who seemed to have quite a lot of my same running neurosis suggested I try this ‘Ultimate Direction’ brand handheld instead of a waist pack.

What I like about it is the bottle is totally wrapped in neoprene so your hands don’t get cold at all but also your water keeps colder for longer.  Also, the hand portion has a strap that can be tightened against the top of your hand so that you don’t need to grip around the bottle at all. The opening of the bottle is large enough to fit ice cubes and the pocket, while not big enough to fit my Blackberry Bold (what is), will fit my new energy chews (will discuss those tomorrow, they are awesome!). The rubbery kicker valve is quite nice and doesn’t leak at all when left in the open position but can easily be closed by slightly kicking it to the side using your mouth or your hand or leg. Had Lululemon come out with their new Ampiphod hand held a few weeks sooner I would have been more tempted to try that one but alas, I needed to supply myself for my upcoming half. The lulu version does not have the tightening band around the hand so you would likely be gripping the bottle throughout your run where as this one you can relax your hand and tighten the strap.

My first 5mile run with it I found a handheld quite annoying and kept switching from hand to hand but somehow my next run which was a 10 miler I hardly noticed it in my hand at all and I liked having my water to swig after having my chews. I switch hands at every mile just to keep it balanced and I make sure that I don’t alter my arm swing. All in all I’m glad I tried out a handheld instead of a waist pack and it’s really nice to have water with me on my runs.

Really cute tiny Sigg Bottles. They were also displayed next to new Satin Headbands with Ruffles on them in Pearl, Grapeseed and black. The ruffles were the same pleated ruffles as the Special Edition Cool Racerback Tank out a month or so ago.

Retro Groove Bag (Pearl, Grapeseed & Black)

I fell a little bit in love with this Retro Move Gym Bag today in the creamy ‘pearl’ color. I love the perforations on this bag. If this came in a mini version like the Hot Hottie Bag I would break down and buy it.

Deep Breath Tank (available in Tango Red, Grapeseed and Black, Citron Black Tinted Canvas)

I tried this tank on the other day briefly and really liked it. The bust had a lot more coverage then the Pure Balance Tank out last month and was nicely supportive like the Push Ur Limits tank or slightly less. The Straps are the same wide elastic straps as on the Push Tank. The lower body of this tank is similar to the Scoop Neck Tank. I may have sized up for a bit of extra tummy room but other then that I would say this tank is TTS and very comfortable.

Ampiphod Running Accesories

Ampiphod Hydration Belt $44 and velcro closure

Amphipod Hydration BeltAmphipod Hydration BeltAlternate View

Big pocket for your iPhone with clear plastic covering so that you can still use the touch screen. 3 Bottle holster and velcro closure. I didn’t love the way the bottles attached to the holster as it was a bit finicky for me but that’s just my runners neurosis and you may not mind that at all.

Ampiphod Handheld Water $40

Amphipod Handheld BottleAmphipod Handheld BottleAlternate View

I tried this one out and thought it was quite nice. The spout is an open spout and not a suction nozzle like most bottles. The pocket just fits my Blackberry bold quite snuggly and I wasn’t able to zip it up but it was snug enough that the phone wouldn’t fall out.

Spotted! Candace Cameron in Lululemon

by Cristina April 3, 2011
written by Cristina

Candace Cameron Bure from Full House was spotted in Lululemon in her Twitter update wearing the In Stride Jacket in Coal/Strata Stripe from very recently, I think from this past February.

I haven’t seen a picture of Candace Cameron in ages and ages and it brought back memories of my Full House watching days.  She looks fantastic, doesn’t she? Did any of you spend your tween/teen years watching Full House like I did?? I used to think Kimmy Gibler was far too lame to be friends with D.J. and I wanted to take her spot as BFF.  Allllllrigth now I’m feeling a bit old.

New! Hydration Belt

by Cristina April 3, 2011
written by Cristina

Just in time (or in the nick of time) for Marathon season.

I just purchased a handheld bottle that I like very much (and will be reviewing shortly) so I’m not in a market for a hydration belt but I’d be interested to know if this is the same brand that Lululemon used to carry Undura Hydra. I’ve found that I really don’t like wearing waist belts, and in particular ones that do up with velcro which is not very luon or silverscent friendly and also because they ride up and annoy me to no end. In my hunt I found that Nathan Sports makes a really good non velcro closure belt but in the end I went with something different altogether. I’ll be sure to check this one out for you next time in store.
