Fit Review: 3x A Lady Jacket and Uba Hoodie

by Cristina October 15, 2012
written by Cristina

No luck for me at my store today. I went in hoping for Black Swan Wunder Unders and some sort of fall wrap but neither of those items are in/exist yet. The Uba Hoodie was a huge disappointment for me. I’m quite frankly shocked at the audacity of the price ($178) on a hoodie that is primarily polyester and in which the inside is so fuzzy that it leaves white fuzz all over your clothing when you take it off. This to me has always been the sign of a cheap discount hoodie when you have to de lint yourself after wearing it. Stretchy and soft it definitely is but this is no where near the quality of the old cotton french terry scubas (the ones with the ribbed panels). I’d wager that the more recent scubas that feel ‘stretchy’ are actually not cotton french terry but blended with polyester as well. I’ll have to have a look at that when I go back. The outer material of this jacket has slight sheen to it so before checking this out in store I already suspected it would have polyester in it.

Uba Hoodie

Body: 53% polyester, 33%nylon, 12%lycra spandex

ribbed luon panels on the arms. If you’ve owned a Stride Jacket or Dance Studio Jacket you know how prone to pulls this will be.

This is the lint on my arm after having brushed most of it off.

The inside fabric of the jacket.

3x A Lady Jacket – Priced at $368

This jacket was originally priced at $4-something but they restickered it to $368. Right off the bat, this is way more jacket than I will ever need in Vancouver. Ever. Unless the Apocalypse is coming. It’s warm indeed so if you live in Saskatoon it will be practical. The cut however is really awful on me. It is bulky and wide and shapeless and the arms are also quite wide. Except the inner down liner which is snug on me. So weird. The outer jacket was quite big on me but the inner jacket was snug around my hips and tight over my Cabin LS. So I’m not really sure how to suggest sizing this. Probalby TTS if you are not as hippy as me…but if you are and you size up the outer jacket will be huge – so the only option is to stay TTS and deal with the snugness of the inner down liner. You can wear this jacket three ways, outer liner by itself, inner liner by itself or with the two zipped together.

The wide A-Line sleeves paired with the wide A-Line Jacket just isn’t a flattering cut on me.

See how snug the inner liner is by comparison?

From my high waist down this inner liner was snug.

OT: Kirkland Shearling Boot (Ugg Boot Style)

by Cristina October 14, 2012
written by Cristina

I’ve always wanted to get a pair of classic styled Uggs because the sheerling wooly insides are just so irresistibly cozy, but because the Ugg Boots are particularly unflattering to my body shape I’ve not been willing to spend the money on the real thing. The fake ones I’d seen up till now where a poor substitution that hadn’t been made of shearling, where either made of polyester fur or clumpy wool. The entire point of wearing these non fashionable boots is the cozy factor and how wonderfully shearling regulates temperature. A lovely reader tipped me off that Canadian Costco’s are now carrying this years ‘Kirkland Shearling Boot Uggs‘ and that they are made of the same materials as real Uggs and where of as good quality so I decided to check them out today and I was quite surprised. They really are identical to Ugg boots with the same material, the same stitching details and the same EVA soles. Hard to resist getting the $36.96 version of a $250 boot. The entire inside of the boot is shearling, including the bottom soles. They came in this short version in Black, Dark Brown (the ones I got) and Chestnut, and they also had a tall version with a foldable top.

I’ve read before that Costco will buy out overstock of brands and just ‘rebrand’ the items as Kirkland so I would not be surprised if these are actually boots made in the same factory. The only difference I can see with these boots and Uggs are the little ‘Ugg Australia’ logo on the back of the heel, and the EVA soles are not stamped and molded in the same pattern as Uggs. Definitely pleased with these boots and I’ll be on the hunt for some for my toddlers which are priced at $24.99. I got these in my usual shoe size, size 9 and really don’t think I could have sized down. However, If you are between two shoe sizes I’d go with the lower of your two sizes.

Lululemon posted a sneak peek on their Facebook page of a new run jacket. I’m very intrigued. The color looks like a darker version of Wren.

Spotted in Store: Tender Violet Define Jacket and Run: Turn Around Jacket is Back!

by Cristina October 13, 2012
written by Cristina

I’m all Defined out now after recently jumping on the Define bandwagon so this Tender Violet Brushed Define Jacket is not on my wish list but It’s gorgeous and I know a lot of you will be going nutso over this one. On another note, I tore the tags off my Herringbone Runder Unders this morning. Yup, I lost the keep the tags on for the full two weeks battle. These pants are amazing. I love that the rise is higher than Wunder Unders with a wider band and so they really hold me in.

Thanks to ‘Ms. T’ for sharing her picture of the Tender Violet Brushed Define Jacket found in a US store today.

Also spotted in store today (US) is the Run: Turn Around Jacket from last year. It was seen in Polar Cream but I’m told it will be available in more colors.

No Limit Tank Tender Violet spotted in a US store

New Polar Cream Striped Free to Be Tank

Herringbone Runder Under Pants with Run: Bundle Up Jacket

Gosh I love these pants. I’m trying to rationalize keeping them and getting a pair of Wunder Under Pants/Crops in Black Swan Herringbone. My October budget has gone pretty well so I may just be ridiculous.

 With Black Swan CRB

Run: With Rover Pants

Oh man, these pants, especially in this color. All they need are the silly jazz/tap shoes that have been appearing on the website.

 I mean…really…!

Free to Be Tank and Black Swan Herringbone Wunder Unders

by Cristina October 11, 2012
written by Cristina

Did I tell you guys I’m returning the Devotion Tee LS? I’m a bit sad about it because I do love the color a lot and I love the length but it’s so sheer. I tried it on again yesterday and I was wearing a nude bra underneath (satin I guess) and you could see the sheen from the bra material right thru the shirt. It was that sheer. I could also easily see my belly button shadow thru the shirt. If it had been thicker or double layered it would have been perfect but I know I will never wear it since I didn’t even want to post pictures of myself in it. The Tender Violet Cool Racerback is perfect though and it fits the same as my Pop Orange, Pow Pink and Black Swan CRB’s. I’m still torn about keeping the Black Swan CRB, I’m running out of time to return it but can’t seem to make a decision on it either way.

Tender Violet Free To Be Tank

Black Swan Herringbone Wunder Under Pants

More Black Swan Herringbone Wunder Unders and the Om Duffel

I saw the Om Duffel in person yesterday and really liked it. I was surprised that it was shorter than I expected and more compact. I loved the pop of Raspberry Pink details on the inside with the rose print.

Swiftly Tech LS in Alberta Lake with Herrinbone Runder Unders

Alberta Lake looks so interesting in the swiftly material. I’m cut off from getting any swiftlies but this one interests me.

And of course I love the Runder Unders. I wish I was running thru the winter this year because they are so great.

Alberta Lake Swiftly paired with Run With Rover Pants

I just don’t get these pants. Tapered, pleats, bulkiness. All scream ‘NO’. Who was there target woman when designing these pleated tapered pants??

Sneak Peek From Down Unda: Heart Opener Tank

by Cristina October 11, 2012
written by Cristina

This one appeared in pictures a few days ago and I mistook it for the Tender Violet CRB but it’s actually the Heart Opener Tank now available in Australia. It has little buttons down the front like a henley. Not sure if the material is ribbed.
