New Red!

by Cristina May 17, 2011

Poppy Red!!!

Last month when we saw the Tango Red with Coal Contrasting Logo was uploaded on Upload Thursday, Lululemon accidentally uploaded what looked like a Tango Red Scuba with a White contrast logo. We were all confused as to why there would be two versions of Tango Red Scubas with different contrasting on it but it turns out it was this Poppy Red. Can’t wait to get a better look at this red to see if it’s a cool red or a warm red like Tango.

Fit Review ~ Paradise Short Shorts and Long Shorts

by Cristina May 16, 2011
written by Cristina

I have a really silly reason for being turned off by both of these shorts today and you may or may not agree with me.  I’m a bit picky on the fabric of board shorts. I hate them to feel stiff and starchy like some shorts are and I like the more flexible soft ones which these were, but they must, must be matte. And these shorts where not matte. They sort of had a satiny polyestery glean to them which was especially noticeable in the solid black and grey ones.

Paradise Short Shorts  ($58)

The short shorts surprisingly fit the best on me (size 10). They were indeed short and I wouldn’t wear shorts this length as street wear but as pool side or beachwear the length was perfect. They were wide legged and the rise was right (could have been a tidge higher but they were fine) and over all these fit me way better then the Do It All II shorts. If you have athletic legs and are leaning towards the long version of these shorts, give these a try first. I liked the softness and stretch of the fabric but these white/Surge ones where a bit too shear for me, especially since my bikini is camo green. I loved the eyelet detailing around the pockets and I would have gone with the black or coal ones but they had that sheen to them and it made them look kind of cheapy. Also, shine on bigger thighs is not flattering. So these were a pass for me, and if they come in other colors later on I’ll consider them but I didn’t feel the need to grab these for my upcoming beach vacation. I do need to replace my current board shorts which are white because when we last went to Hawaii the sand stained my pants with dirt stains over the back. I’m not sure if these lighter colored shorts will stain the same way that mine did with certain sands but from now on I will be buying darker board shorts.

Paradise Long Shorts ($68)

I tried these shorts on in black and I immediatly hated the fit on me. They were too matronly a length on my shorter legs and the pockets puff out. The pockets bubbled out on the thickest part of my thighs. Pass!

Fit Review ~ Loop De Lulu Dress

by Cristina May 16, 2011
written by Cristina

Loop De Lulu Dress

I have to start with telling you that even though this dress did not work for me, I do really love the style of it. Many people have mentioned it’s too ‘little girl sweet‘ or ‘sound of music‘ and I agree it is those things but that’s what I really like about the style. I love the straps, the ruching at the side of the bust, the pockets etc. I’m a sucker for skirts and dresses with pockets. My problem with the dress was that I tried it on in a 10 (I’m between an 8 and 10) and the10 was quite compressive in the bust and I’m only a 36C/B. This is a good thing in order to be able to wear this dress without the straps….but it gave me armpit fat. Sizing up would have made the dress to voluminous in the lower portion. The dress was quite heavy despite it being thin Vitasea cotton (just like the Modern Racers) but it’s two layers of fabric with a lot of drape in the skirt and it’s compressive in the bust so I just felt a little too warm in it. The pockets were another issue, I love them but they show thru in the dress. If there are any creases in the pocket material or if it shifts you will see it. The pink is a bit sheer so if you have anything you’d rather disguise I’d recommend going with the Black/White or Black Seabed/Coal. I was much happier in this dress in the Black/Seabed but I thought, If I’m going to get a dress for $88 I want it to be perfect and a little dressier. In fact, I’d almost rather get a skirt somewhere else that I saw on sale (it was girly and had pockets!) If I want a beach coverup or more casual dress Swimco had this same multi way style (single layer) for $45. I passed on this dress today and recommend you try this one before purchasing, if you are limited to online shopping I would er on the side of sizing up to accommodate larger busts.

New! Savasana Wrap in Heathered Navy

by Cristina May 16, 2011
written by Cristina

Savasana Wrap Heathered Navy

well surprisingly I came home today with this Savasana Wrap despite the fact that I don’t totally love Savasana’s. I love them on other people but on me I’m sort of meh! about how they fit me. The things I love though are the collar and this heathered navy! What’s preventing me from ripping the tags off of it is that the wrap is a bit warm for late spring/summer. I’m not sure I’ll get a whole lot of wear until fall and I’m in shorts and tanks mode for my purchases. We’ll see. I need to think about this one a little bit. More to come about my visit to the store…

Monday Shipment

Loop De Lulu Dress ($88)

I really do love this dress but I will be wearing the straps up 100% of the time and I don’t like that that means I would have a knot in my middle back in order to wear it that way. I’m heading to the store shortly and will give you a fit review on it.

Paradise Short Shorts ($58) and Rash Guard

I’m liking these! I’m not a surfer so for me, board shorts are really just a more modest bikini bottom so I don’t need the bells and whistles. I like the look of these and as long as they stay up and look cute them I’ll be happy with them. Rash Guard shown here in Lavender Haze. Also available in Black.

Spirit Tank

I don’t gravitate to  luxtreme tops for myself  but this tank is really beautiful.

Colours:Toothpaste/Toothpaste Seabed (shown), Surge/Heathered Black, Blurred Grey Dip Dye/Blurred Grey, and Black/Heathered Black

Deep Breath Tank

Camo!!!! Wunder Unders.

These will fly off the shelves, I know it.

Define Jacket

Colours: Coal/White Microstripe (shown), Toothpaste, Surge, Pink Mist/White Microstripe, and Wren Denim

New! Run Willpower Skirt

by Cristina May 16, 2011
written by Cristina

Big thank you to reader Jessica for sending these images in of the new Run: Willpower Skirt. Jessica says that she finds the skirt to be TTS (hers is a size 4) but if your between 2 sizes you can size down. I think we all agree she looks fantastic in this skirt. This was from Santana Row and they had only white available (comes in Black/White and Black Citron Tinted Canvas).

Eoin Finn in Oprah Magazine

by Cristina May 16, 2011
written by Cristina

Many of you may recognize the name Eion Finn from the Lululemon website or from seeing his DVD’s The Pursuit of Happy Hips, The Blissology Project and Power Yoga For Happines 2 The Surf Edition in Lululemon stores. Eion Finn has been a Lululemon ambassador since the very beginning and it’s hard not to notice and recognize this hunky surf yogi on the cover of his DVD’s whilst browsing the tank wall.

Oprah Magazine mentions Eion Finn on page 40 of the June 2011 edition and proclaims “We like this guy!” I’ll have to agree with her on this one. I own two of his DVD’s and although the Power Yoga for Happiness Surf Edition is a bit hard for me at the moment (it’s hard core upper body and core work) I really love his The Pursuit of Happy Hips DVD. It’s challenging but not overly hard, It’s a great workout and the scenery throughout Vancouver and Whistler is amazing. Reading this short article has reminded me I want to start using these DVD’s again while my running is a bit aimless after my half marathon.

Have any of you tried his DVD’s yet?

Eion circa 1990                              current picture of Eion.

New! Paradise Short Short and Paradise Long Shorts

by Cristina May 14, 2011
written by Cristina

I am really, really liking the Paradise Short Shorts in black and white print. I love wearing board shorts to the beach or pool, especially when I’m running after my kids so I’m excited about getting these. I think the little ribbon embellishment detailing around the pockets is so pretty and whimsical which is a nice touch on this type of a short . If the Short Shorts are too scandalously short on my muscular legs then I like that there is the Long Short option. Thanks to The Cali Lulu Buyers for once again providing first images of what’s new in store.
