Lululemon Increases Return Period To 30 Days And A Mention About The Non Stop Bomber Jacket

by Cristina

I just got this email informing me that the return policy has been changed to 30 days instead of 14. Great news!!

I’ve been told that the Non Stop Bomber Jacket has been pulled from stores and sent to head office and will not be sold at outlets due to design flaws. Apparently the cuffs, and the cuffed hem pill horribly. I’ve also seen reviews that the sleeves have come off on some of the jackets.  If you own one that’s had issues, I’d give GEC a call and find out if they are taking them back from customers as well.

Just saw this e-mail. Really, so generous?! How about changing quality? I have some pants looking very old and I got them around Christmas. Brought them to the store and was offered… reinforced stitching. Athleta took their item back , money on my card and extra discount for me to use later with words we honor our fit pros opinion, it helps company to become better.

Athleta might have better return policy and costumer service, but their stuff is always going to be inferior to lulu unfortunately.

@Anon 9:37 AM- maybe 4 years ago, but DEFINITELY not now. Athleta has stepped up their game big-time, and Lulu has… well, we had all seen what has happened to Lulu, unfortunately.

Have you tried Athleta lately anon 9:37 am? Their new Powervita material is a nulu dupe in feel – super soft and comfy – except slightly thicker and more compressive. It's a very comfortable workout material. They're using nylon blends a lot more in their workout gear and their construction is really good. I'm reading more and more posts in the facebook groups and on the website about seams unraveling on lululemon items. I just bought their Striped Chaturanga capris and I could have sworn I was wearing a pair of Wunder Unders, the fit (one of Athleta's [former] weaknesses) and feel was so similar. I've bought two of their modal pieces, at $89 each, and been very happy. From what I have heard, the new lululemon More than Modal pieces are on the verge of recall themselves – two of my friends were told by educators that the tops are supposed to look "vintage" or "worn in" – they've been instructed by corporate to "educate" customers on this – and get pilled after washing and wearing. If you've seen the pieces in person they're already fuzzy and you can tell they're going to look like crap after a couple of washes. Potdevin better get his cheapness issue under control. He's running the quality into the ground, just like Day.

This just cured me of my lust for the light grey More than Modal hoodie! They are going to "educate" me on their worn in look for $98 plus tax?? Umm….no!!! They seriously need to get it together.

What would really make customers happy would be to change the "no return" policy on the WMTM.

Wow I had no idea about the jackets, and after they were marketed so heavily. Its horrible how the leadership at Lululemon have pushed the product quality down so much just to increase margins.

does this apply to WMTM? I dont trust the brand quality enough to buy a non returnable item and the prices are absurd at full price… if this policy change does not apply to WMTM it has no impact on my buying habits.

Check with your local store mine lets me return everything.

Same for me. I try to be judicious and not take advantage. But I've never had a problem returning WMTM stuff when I've tried.

I usually get a lecture about WMTM being final sale, but they always take it back.

So impressed that they did something that everyone else already figured out ages ago!!!

Except that we've been yelling for many, many years about extending the return policy. It was one of the top complaints/suggestions on Hey Lululemon. I don't believe it's because they "listened to our feedback" in the least (that email title is like a slap in the face). I think it's a cheap way for Potdevin to make it seem like he's doing something for Wall Street to try to bump up sales without actually doing anything. If they didn't just have the quarter call they did I can almost guarantee you the return policy would still be 14 days. Too little, too late for me.

At 9:37am – a couple of years ago, maybe Athleta was inferior. Not now. In the past year to year and a half they stepped it up big time. Quality is amazing while keeping prices the same. The items I purchased in the last year from Athleta have amazing fit and are holding up amazing. Meanwhile the last 4 items I've purchased from Lulu has had to be damaged out for one reason or another and can't even stand up to one washing without having seams unravel or holes appear. It's getting ridiculous. I've pretty much moved over completely to Athleta for my athletic purchases now.

@anon 4:21pm I'm with you on this. the modified return policy is due to the Q1 results and it has nothing to do with listening to the customers ' requests.
I wish we had Athleta in Canada because I would totally try them out.
also hope the shareholder that was so vocal in the past couple days (especially on the results posting) I'd like to tell ger (him) that I'm sorry the share value is down. it must suck to loose 25% of what you had. BUT trying to make us shut up is not going to work. we have the right to say it as we see it. I am not going to keep my mouth shut just because you lost money. we are not responsible for your loss. our comments here on LlM and on the other blog LLA did not influence the stock. lululemon and their foolish decisions led to the stock going down.
and one last thing. WMTM was updated earlier today on the Canadian site. I would say probably 85% of the items are gray, black and navy. I guess someone is desperate to get rid of these colors.

Yes, on the Canadian side there are now 149 items as of tonight ( Sat Apr 1st) I scrolled through and not a single item temped me. So sad. As to their new announcement, I don't believe it's too little too late. It is never to late to improve. I just want them to go back to former greatness and I will actively shop there again. If there was Athletica here in Canada I would have checked them out already. Some of the items LLA has posted over the last 6 months I would have picked up in a heartbeat. I will not complain though, I have a closet full of Lulu that I started buying in 2011 and some really great peices. ( I would have bought earlier than that but was not in a financial position to do so, 3 kids, mtg etc.) So I will just enjoy them. Luckily the quality was great then too and most is in great shape! Due to Lulus decline, I discovered Aritzia and picked up some great stuff over the winter and now into spring. Hopefully this wake up call that we all saw coming almost two years ago invokes the changes that NEED to happen for Lulu to survive.

Um, has no one noticed this says 30 MINUTES, not days? It's an April Fool's joke.

Read to the bottom. They've updated the new return policy on receipts and on the website, and this has been confirmed by employees.

30 days for returning merchandise now. And that's supposed to evoke warm and fuzzy feelings? If I don't like something I ordered online, it goes back the very next day, because LLL sits on my money for almost a month before they refund it. I want the company to change their WMTM policy. It is ridiculous that, due to inconsistent sizing, I have several Lululemon items, bought online on sale, sitting in my closet unworn and unloved. At least they should give us the possibility to exchange things that don't fit or are an unflattering colour!

No returns on WMTM is a scam, straight-up, and is antithetical to the idea that LLL "stands by" their products.

I have been using my black bomber jacket and so far no pilling, still in perfect condition, but now I'm nervous 🙁

LLM, where did you hear about bomber jacket? It's still online in US. I have one and no problems now but I'm worried like Anon @7:57pm.

I thought the same, is still online. Of all the reviews just a few are bad. Would be good if someone post pics with those defects :S

Yeah I bought a bomber too and now I'm worried…I really like it, but if it starts falling apart I'm hoping they'll sort it out

I say better late than never on changing the return policy and the fact that it happened right after the stock collapse doesn't matter because positive initiatives have to start somewhere. I hope this is the beginning of LLL showing some love and send some good things our way such as the return of a classic or two. 2018 marks 20 years in business and wouldn't it be wonderful if they released oldies but goodies throughout the year! I say lets talk that up and hopefully it inspires them to get on board.

I agree, however Potdevin has been extremely arrogant and I don't see that changing. The only way Lulu will change is through a change in his design team (get rid of the Nike people) and a new CEO who knows what Lulu used to be and has a desire to bring it back.

Totally agree anon@7:12. I hate that I'm hoping that people get fired, but Potdevin and Holman are arrogant jerks who deserve to be kicked to the curb.

On the Canadian side there are now 180 items on WMTM 😮 And not a single item I want to buy 🙁

Same here, there is not one item I want to buy from 180 to choose from!

Has anyone else notice that the return policy states taht if the product dosent perform you can now return it in teh 30 days. But further down on the page, you need to have the tag on and item unworn and unwashed to return it. How am I going to know how the product performs while not wearing it, or even wearing it with the tag on?

@okollusion – The tags attached & unwashed/unworn only goes for regular returns (wrong fit/colour/preference). The policy is that if the product doesn't perform (after use), they'll take it back.
