ebay Deals

by Cristina

I’ve been very curious about the ebay seller “yogathrifter” who has a huge inventory of new with tag lululemon items that don’t at all look like knock-offs according to several purchasers. I’ve almost purchased an older Apres Yoga jacket from Yogathrifter but had second thoughts and felt guilty and unsure. I do like a good deal and I also really like finding older style lululemon prints that you can no longer find in stores but I don’t feel entirely comfortable purchasing from someone who is not a personal seller that just  had buyers remorse or is closet cleaning. It really cheapens the product to have items like these sold online at a huge undercut and also it also diverts company profits that would otherwise be going to the design team, seamstresses, and factory workers. I’m not sure what this sellers (or other sellers) sources are, perhaps the factory that produces the garments for Lululemon also produces extras on the side that they can later sell, maybe they are failed quality check items, maybe it’s inventory shrinkage. Who knows, maybe they are completely legitimate items purchased in “we made too much” or the Factory Outlet. It is a little suspect though that this seller has an alleged warehouse that several people have visited for shopping. When I first almost purchased the jacket I was told I could come check out the other sizes to see which fit best. I wish I would have gone because when I later made a request to go for a visit and see what was in stock for a cash purchase my request was ignored.

On the other hand, there are also the price gougers online that purchase items and wait for the perfect opportunity to repost them at a hugely marked up price. Like the Art Series Hoodies that are currently listed at $150 even though Lulu sells them for $98. This is why I much prefer buying and selling on the lulu exchange page. Even though there is no protection and it’s just a group it is such a small group that for the most part there is no crazy price gauging and unethical activity going on.

So what are your views on buying on ebay from these types of sellers? Have you bought any of these marked up or marked down items? If you have any insight as to how these sellers come to have there inventory do share.

I first purchased a tea cozy from this seller and found out right before it arrived, that these had been recalled. I contacted the seller who pulled her other cozys off of ebay and I sent it back to her and she fully refunded my money including shipping and return shipping in a prompt manner. I went on to buy a pair of new with tags run energy shorts for a great BIN price and they are authentic and without flaws. In my experience this is an ethical seller. But each individual has to make up their own mind on where to purchase their lulu (store/ebay/exchange page). I agree the FB exchange place is a great way to get fair prices and I haven't had any bad transactions (buying or selling on it).

My boyfriend used to work at the Factory Outlet for Lulu and he said that they often get Ebay buyers in store. They buy a whole bunch of merchandise at outlet prices and then probably post it on ebay with a markup. Just a thought…

I've bought from this seller before. It was a pair of Team Spirit crops, black w/senorita pink, for a lower price with an advertised tiny hole near the waist. I gladly snatched them up at a lower price and fixed them up with my trusty sewing needle and black thread. No one would ever know. I was pleased with shipping time, shipping cost ($5 from canada to US; a lot of ebay sellers overcharge on shipping, especially international), and the product.

i LOVE the fb exchange! however, there are price gougers there too – one girl in particular – she posted a lot of 10 bags (which are free!) for $60 plus shipping (and she charges $20 for that lol). i made a comment about how that was unfair, and almost got booted out of the group.

Hi:). I bought a white stride jacket from yogathrifter. When I received it, it looked a little dingy so I asked for my money back. She was great to work with and refunded all my money plus shipping. I was very pleased with the transaction but not sure where she gets her inventory. Interesting…

THat jacket you posted is very cute and am seriously considering buying it but I wanted more information on the fit. Have you ever written a post on this type of jacket. I can't seem to find anything on the Essence Jacket but I do find tons on the Yoga Apres jacket. Though the polka dot jacket looks like its a lot lighter and from the measurements more true to size than what Im reading about the Yoga Apres jacket. HELP!

Anon 1:30, that's what intrigues me about her (them) is that she is really good about returns and her products seem legit. Lots of great feedback etc.I just wonder where she gets her items as there not things I've seen at the outlet.
Anon 1:34 I've seen the bag ladies with tons and tons of items with tags. SOme of them like to trade up for things that I'm selling too. I think that may be at least some of the items, if not all of them. I guess it's the mystery around yogathrifter that makes me think there are other sources for the inventory. Especially now that the name has changed to clothinghunter. Why change the name if your just buying and selling. And it can't be lucrative enough to merit a warehouse location.

I've been 100% happy with all my items bought from yogathrifter. Some were actually better then discribed. I even got some older made in Canada grooves new with tags from here just recently and they are AMAZING. So much nicer then the made China ones. Very happy with everything bought from her. Quick reasonable priced shipping.

Anon 7:38 I haven't actually tried the apres yoga jacket from that year. I've tried later ones on and found them TTS but I think the cut was different and no belt.

I purchased a hoodie for my hubby from yogathrifter (pacific beach or full time hoodie, can't remember). I paid 27 dollars or so for it. The seller identified a small area of fading in the post, but frankly, I couldn't even see it. My hubby loves lulu hoodies, especially the Slim Gym. He was very happy with the hoodie.
