New Items

by Cristina

The inner lining of the Lolo Wear With All.
New Wear With All in Classic Sports Grey and Heathered Clarity Grey. I like this one a lot. I love greys and I also really like the WWA’s that have the contrast band at the bottom and at the pockets.

Merino Wool items. I like the look of them but they were pretty expensive (I think the toque was $39) and really itchy for me. I have sensitive skin so these would drive me bananas. Actually just touching the leg warmers had my thighs itching like mad.

If the lolo WWA had the contrasting band I would be sold in a heartbeat. Even though I've never worn the WWA that I have :). Sometimes I don't wear things because I'm afraid of messing them up, which is silly, I know. Also, I saw some Puma's yesterday that I swear come in lolo and power purple (two different pair). Coincidence or the universe telling me I should have coordinating shoes?

That WWW is too tight, so are alot of the other items that educator is sporting. Ps – Do you really make anything from those ads on your blog? I find them annoying.

Not sure this is the right place to post this, but I find your insights to be more valuable than any stock analysts, so I would love to know all your thoughts: Lulu's stock was down over 10% just today due an analyst downgrade claiming too much inventory / consumer weakness concerns. Do you guys feel like you are buying more / less / same Lulu as say a year ago? Do you feel like stores are overstocked and things are more likely to go on markdown? I feel like things are selling out just as fast (ie travel pooches and the bags) and the stores seem really busy all the time, but that's just me, wanted to know your thoughts?? I thought it might be cool to make some money on the stock to fund my Lulu purchases :), though I am concerned about the direction it seems to be headed.

Hi Lulumum, same as the previous commenter, I too find the ads annoying and distracting. I've actually thought some of the ads were your posts at times lol. Please consider removing them if what you make from them is just pocket change. Just being honest so please don't get offended, otherwise I love your blog! Thanks.

I find the ads contained in between your posts annoying, but the ones on the sides are fine as I can just ignore them.

My two cents:
I also HATE the ads that are in between posts (don't mind stuff off to the side). VERY distracting. Can't stand em. Get the idea?

agree with Starrwinter.. I see them..but just ignore, too excited to get to the next blog!
Who cares if theres an ad here or there.. like Starrwinter said.. it's her blog and she can do whatever she wants with it! I noticed lulu addict has ads in hers, are you guys complaining to her?!!?
Don't like it, stop reading or ignore them! I'm personally glad lulumum gets some money for this..why not!? She's at home with 2 small children, buying and reviewing lulu pieces for you!!! is that not why your here reading the blog in the first place?!
Seriously.. people need to grow up and get lives.
Boo hoo…you see an ad.. and it annoys you!
Keep the ads..add 10 more if you want.. ahah I'll still read it 6 times a day 🙂
thanks for your posts.. Love the blog 🙂 🙂 reading it all the way from NS!!

Thanks Lulumum on your comments on the stock (would be happy to hear everyone else's thoughts as well). I noticed that the run stuff generally sells pretty well: I was hoping to snap IJWR and run:energy in loot, but was no such luck. And you're right that everyone has big summer sales, and I for one spent hundreds in the early July sale, so even if margins aren't as high, they still made a ton of money on my $59 crops and $69 jackets. Their 2nd quarter ended Aug 2nd (and will be reported Sept 10), so would have had the results from all these sales in there (that's why I wanted to buy the stock, because I think it should be a good quarter).

oh, my thoughts on ads; I get why you have them since I know many bloggers so I'm fine with them. And it's great that you actually make money from them, sign of a good blog!

Interesting that you actually get money from your ads. They are google ad sense? I thought that was totally useless and they don't send you money till you hit like $100 or something. But maybe I'm wrong. Funny the other day luluaddict mentioned that she never got a cent from her ads, and I think she has more readership than you. Not saying she is better than you in any way, but she has been around longer and more people know about her blog. So I'm surprised that she never got any money and you do. It's great for you of course! I wonder if people are clicking on the ads in between blogs because they confuse them with your next blog post. LOL!

I'm not sure. She's had the ads for as long as I've read her blog. Btw, I'm not trying to kiss your butt but I like yours better! 🙂 You update your blog much faster and you are not racist.. LOL! I feel dirty reading her blog like it equates to me endorsing her views. But I know that tons of people do read hers and whenever you google a Lululemon item, her blog is almost always the first link to come up. But anyway, keep up the good job and free Lulu is always nice! Would be great if we could all live off of ads huh?

Lulumum – I, too, love your blog! And don't mind the ads. I just scroll past them! Who really cares?

Keep up the good work! I can't tell you how many times a day I check your blog. You're usually the first to have the scoop on anything Lululemon!

Anon 4:58 put it so well! I feel the same way about the LuluAddict blog and about reading it, I feel guilty for reading a blog by someone whose personal views are so distasteful to me. Plus I think you (Lulumum) actually get out there into "the field" and see/try on new things so much more/faster! I love your blog, thank you for making it and for keeping it up!

And about the ads,…they dont bother me, so many blogs have them I think I am immune to them!

Yes I think it's great that you get out there to try things on vs luluaddict who just posts pics from fb and blures out the faces. Plus all she does is bitches abt stuff. Then her little minions comment and agree with her negative comments. It's like an old bitter women bitch session. LOL. I personally don't understand how one could have so much negativity while at the same time loving a brand that's all about acceptance and positivity. I like that you will write that you personally do not like something but understand that people may have different opinions. Whereas she is all abt her way or the highway! Anyway rant over! Keep up the good work! I check your blog multiple times a day too!

I read luluaddicts blog and I like it and I don't find her racist!?!! That is a pretty huge defamation of character as an anon poster, at least show her you are if you are going to call her a racist for crying out loud! Also keep in mind that she has been blogging for over three years, while this blog is new (and is a great blog BTW- thanks lulumum), so it understandable that luluaddict isn't running out and taking pictures of everything. I have a running blog and know its hard to keep a blog going for long periods of time, but she does update it regularily. If this makes me a minion, so be it. I would be curious as to why you think she is a racist. Personally I don't like the ads between posts, off to the side is less distracting, but its lulumum's blog, and I'll read it regardless.

Apparently you missed the whole fiasco where someone discovered her post on another (neo-nazi) blog saying how she hated asian women, and that asian women only married white nerds and she didn't understand why any white would marry outside of their race and have children that look nothing like them. And yes it was her who posted, because she admitted to it. People posted angry responses all over her page which she later deleted and pretended like nothing happened, and resorted to saying it was just a blog about clothing (but I for one care about what type of person is giving those reviews that I used to value). Then someone took a screen shot of what she wrote and posted to Lulu facebook page. That is actually how Lulumum started this blog. People were boycotting Luluaddict and jokingly someone asked if anyone out there would be willing to start another blog and thanks to Lulumum, we now have one!

I definately missed that whole fiasco… are you sure?! That does make me think twice about that blog, I don't endorse those views. When was this? To be fair, I will also check with luluaddict. Thanks.

I am on the Internet daily… how did I miss this? In any case, I posted a comment on her blog to see if she cares to respond. Sorry if this causes even more drama.

Jen August 31, 2010 - 3:34 am

Marci, it is true. I witnessed the whole thing as well and could not believe it when it happened because I used to read her blog too. I thought surely someone made it up. Until I googled it and found her response on whatever blog she commented on. She must have deleted it from that blog since then because it no longer comes up when you google it. This is why so many of us no longer read luluaddict, and now exclusively read lulumum! I bet if you find that particular blog post from her page that the comment was discovered, you would see sooo many "commented deleted" posts.

It's not true at all…she's not racist nor would she get involved with that…give me a break.

Holly August 31, 2010 - 3:40 am

It was from 5/20. I took screen shots of what she said and most of the comments she deleted. Here's the post. https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=3251014226909966109&postID=2813155856409189339

If you go to the middle part of the comments, you will see lots of "commented deleted…", and then she just kept going like nothing happened. So people who missed it would not have found out. She actually posted a clarification post which was stupid and made no sense, which she later deleted but I have taken screen shot of that as well. For a while after that she made it so that all comments had to be "approved" by her before they got posted to her site, which you will see references to that as well. I guess that was her PR control. And it seems like most have now forgotten about the incident.

@Anon 8:36: Why would people make up something like this? Besides as Holly said, there is proof that it did happen and lots of people saw it. You think you know someone when you read their reviews about work out clothes but you have no idea who is behind the computer screen.

Reply
Adriana August 31, 2010 - 3:56 am

Anon 8.43 pm – The fact is, you do not know anybody who is behind the computer screen or most of the blogs out there or even this blog. So I don't think its right to judge and lash out at just one person just because it so happened that she made a comment on another blog. The comment might be something that is not that nice to hear but that doesn't mean that all the other bloggers are angels. So it happened. The fact of the matter is at the end of the day we just want to read about Lululemon clothes. I saw the comment she wrote on the other blog and I saw her response and I saw what all the others said about her plus I am Asian. I still continue reading her blog because I value her feedback and all the pictures posted.

I find it suspicious that Marci tipped her off, then an "Asian Adriana" writes the above comment. Hmmmmmmm…. if you are in fact who you say you are, then you disgrace your own race by supporting those that obviously have innate hatred for your kind!

No! purples and greys are everywhere now. I went into Banana Republic and there were so many purple items from mauvy purples to lolo purples and light greys to dark greys.

I'm the opposite about using nice things. I use my fine china for every day use at home because I hate the idea of having special fancy plates that I rarely use. You only live once and your material items are replaceable so enjoy them until they break.

I think it's a great idea to put a little bit of play money in the stock to see what it does. I don't have any inside scoop at all so I'm purely speculating on what I see but every time I go to the mall since I've started blogging, I tend to head in close to opening and I see quite a few girls, and older ladies leaving the mall with lulu shoppers, the store is always packed with at least 4 strollers competing with mine. Summer items tend to hit loot in all stores so that's not surprising to me to see items I purchased in May that are summer specific hit loot. Although it's always disapointing to see something you just got go on loot.

These are the reasons I'm buying more this year than last.

1. no longer pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant ever again so my body wont change drastically other than in weight loss.
2. I'm committed to running. I'm fixated on it actually so I need clothes for the season so that I can train for the Vancouver Sun and perhaps the BMO half marathon. I'm also losing weight so I'm buying clothes with excellent resale value.
3. I'm at home so I don't need to divert money into a work wardrobe anymore.
4. clothes I purchased at other stores last year did not last very long at all wear wise. my lulu items that I still use date back at least 3 years so it's a worthwhile investment. Plus, I don't have much trouble selling my clothes after I'm done with them.

I don't think Lulu ever meets the demands of the market place with there inventory per say but they do remake certain items a few times too many. Pima's into Moderns, Remix into Scuba variations of Devi, seek the Peek, Community pants. There also reintroducing old and popular items in new colors such as the Savasana and WWA's. These are some of the things I noticed. Not too much innovation with the Run Line and technical fabrics.

I'm not at all offended. I did notice a huge difference in Monetization with having the add between posts instead of just on the sides.

It does get me enough$$ that I can buy a little lulu something at the end of the month that I can then review for you guys and it also justifies the amount of time I spend on the blog to my husband, so I'll be keeping them for now and hopefully that is not a deal breaker for my readers which I aim to please. I've reviewed many similar styled blogs for other retail companies just to get an idea of what's out there and trust me…some of the monetizing going on is insane. Just an FYI since were talking about it, if I've mentioned any other brands in the past in my posts I am in now way getting monetized by them and just bring them up because they are relevant to what I'm talking about. Sadly no free Anthropolgie boots for me ;(

She may "get the idea" but it's her blog and her choice. Personally, everything is so over-advertised now I don't even notice her ads in between posts. If you don't like, don't read and you don't have to click on the ads 😉

Thank you starrwinter.
Although I'm not offended by the request and I totally get everyones point, I am spending time on this blog and providing fit reviews on items I'm not intending to purchase soley because some of you don't have access to stores and rely on online ordering. I don't expect anyone to love the adds but perhaps understanding why they are there would make you feel a little bit more neutral about it instead of just irritated by it.

I agree with Vicki, let it go. We should try to view everyone as equals and disregard "race" as a distinguishing factor. I was born in Canada but considered Asian, yet I have never been to Asia… go figure… I don't consider myself anything but Canadian 🙂

Anywho, I love your blog!! I love to read up on what's new in our local stores as most of them don't have regular facebook updates. Thanks, Lulumum 🙂

I was at Coquitlam today and got the last size 4 lolo wear with all. I can't get enough of this colour!!

Anon 4:06, let us know what you find about the next quarter. I love my IJWR tank (pig Pink) I was unsure of the style at first because of the pleats but I use this top more than all of my others because it's cool and silky and flows away from your body. I've been on the lookout for the Wish Blue one in loot and on the exchange pages.

I'm surprised about that too since she's been around for probably 3 years or so. It has gotten increasingly better each month so maybe she just hasn't had the adds long enough. but if she isn't getting anything from them why keep it? I think blogger subscriptions are more of an American trend with Google being bigger there while here in Canada people just visit but they don't actually subscribe to feeds. I read a few (Canadian) professionally done blogs that have been around for a couple of years and they have very low readership subscriptions (I shockingly have more) but they make a pretty good living out of it so they get a lot more hits than I do and monetize a lot more. There were two blogs I saw that actually had a request for donations to keep the blog going along with a paypal shopping cart.

Aw thanks. In retrospect the title of my blog is not so googleable for items but that's ok cause I'm writing to luluaholics and somehow you all found me.

It helps that my playdates are at Coquitlam and sometimes Metrotown so I get to see what's in store pretty quickly and then I can come home and report back.

Yes this was back in April or May and it was a blog post about Sandra Bullocks adoption. Her response at the backlash was not much better than the initial incident. Since then it's just been this insidious nastiness. And that was exactly why I started this particular blog. It would probably not have crossed my mind otherwise.
